This is a special episode because this is my fresh, hot, and first watch of Beetlejuice. Yes, you read that right. I am a child of the 80s and somehow I have skated through life without seeing this movie. In the episode I explain how and why. Since it's October spooky season, Mikey is along for the ride as an expert in all things scary and/or comedy. I'm here to report that I loved it and I sincerely think that we all identify with Lydia. I feel like I've been channelling her my whole life without knowing it. We get into the amazing FASHION, the stacked cast, and how I was shocked to find out that Beetlejuice was a sleazy salesman and all around weirdo. off-topic rants include: Terminator series, new horror, Tales from the Crypt *released on October 10,2024 Winona Vogue Interview: https://youtu.be/IH1CwEE1QWM?siZRyy5B5jvVZKHG -- Get BONUS episodes on 90s TV and culture (Freaks & Geeks, My So Called Life, Buffy, 90s culture documentaries, and more...) and to support the show join the  Patreon!  Hosts: Lauren @lauren_melanie & Mikey @agentmikey007 Follow Fashion Grunge PodcastFind more Fashion Grunge on LinktreeJoin me on Substack: The Lo Down: a Fashion Grunge blog/newsletter☕️ Support Fashion Grunge on Buy Me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/fashiongrunge

Growing Up in the 90s - We Were the Last to really LIVEhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iY8s2qSuHE12 Dinge, die nur 90er Kids kennenhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfBG--2O290Tamagotchi, Nintendo oder Grunge - Was war das Beste aus den 90ern?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4vEAofakPEBuilt To Spill - Broken Chairshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHnpHs5OcFMMy So-Called Life: Complete Series - DVD Trailerhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SC_zgYzeLOkMy So-Called Life cast on Entertainment Tonighthttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CthJ-fOoGwo15-Year-Old Claire Danes On Getting Famous: 'I Just Want to Be a Sane Person'https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVEgLNEFXYQThe Scene In "My So Called Life" That Became A "Healing" Experience For Wilson Cruzhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2Ofz1PcicEMy So-Called Life cast on MTVhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d99Tcsfh0hEClass of '96 (alle Folgen)https://www.youtube.com/@Classof96TV/videosBuffalo Tom - Late At Nighthttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsf9pQHpNt4Grunge 1993 Dokuhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cfLFROpJS8Before Nevermind: How Grunge became Grungehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuTY805MzJcGrunge: History, Style and the Big 4https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sR_EZYNJo7k&t=41sBackstreet Boys & BTS: Warum nimmt der Boyband-Hype nicht ab?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krS78MjjokA10 Iconic Y2K Fashion Trendshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXdYiXx7AQ4Guide to 90s Streetwearhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pI_v5EDb73IPJ Harvey - Angelenehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8XzHhC9czwAaliyah - Back & Forthhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a02dBbBGSPgAaliyah interview in 1995https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yqhVFK1N_oMissy Elliott & Timbaland talk about Aaliyah (2011)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQTR0JRmVLAE! celebrates 30 years with Aaliyah — Tommy Hilfiger photoshoot (April 1997)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gb4FcMpJfnAAaliyah and Beyonce at the 2000 MTV Movie Awardshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXIgolVohUAAaliyah -Try Againhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTA0RuZoIxMAaliyah - Are You That Somebodyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTMuqL0qx08So war Gaming in den 90ernhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=un0GI4lVECwThe 90s Videogame Aesthetic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hseUdTP_MAWhy Bad Graphics make you feel goodhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9E0XPzB9wZUThe 30 Most Mind-Blowing Games Examples of Retro Pixel Arthttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw2QfPREu-QBoards Of Canada - Roygbivhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yT0gRc2c2wQLiving in Oblivion Trailerhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12-S3adLCkQLiving In Oblivion - Q&A with Tom DiCillo & Steve Buscemihttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYjjIo5F8ToLiving in Oblilvion (ganzer Film, deutsch)https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9h8vioRancid - Roots Radicalshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVZR4N43wlU

When I first saw the trailer on a "Focus Features" DVD I knew this was one that I had to see. In Rian Johnson's directorial debut, this modern film noir weaves quite a knot that slowly unties throughout the course of the story. Joseph Gordon-Levitt carries every scene which reminded me of his other indie films in the early 00s that I loved so much. I get into why this story and visual style reminds me of Donnie Darko, how Focus Features was equivalent to A24 back in the day, the minimal normie yet important fashion, and try to work out the illogical parts of what the hell was actually going on. "Throw one at me if you want, hash head. What sprouted as a possible fashion editorial, ended up being one of the most original and thought provoking films I've seen in quite a while. Daisies from 1966 is a wild ride of surrealism, freedom, and feminism by Vera Chytilová. The Daytrippers have been on my list for a while and it really scratched that itch when it comes to a quirky 90s comedy. I talk about the realistic and aspirational fashion of Parker posey, the many quotes and hijinks that ensue on this caper of madness, and the many roadblocks during the behind the scenes of this film.--Get BONUS episodes on 90s TV and culture (Freaks & Geeks, My So Called Life, Buffy, 90s culture documentaries, and more...) and to support the show join the  Patreon! Host: Lauren @lauren_melanie Follow Fashion Grunge Podcast Find more Fashion Grunge on LinktreeJoin me on Substack:  The Lo Down: a Fashion Grunge blog/newsletter

Comedian and writer Jessi Klein (Big Mouth, Inside Amy Schumer, I'll Show Myself Out) and comedian Trae Crowder (The Liberal Redneck Manifesto, Trash Daddy) join Jameela Jamil to unpack a lifetime of exquisitely timed social misfires, celebrity encounters gone wrong, and the unique horror of realizing you may have accidentally discouraged a bunch of people who later became extremely famous.Jessi confesses to being Clare Danes' first hater, gently warning a pre-My So-Called Life middle schooler that acting might not be a practical career choice, then doubling down years later by encouraging Mark Ronson to stay in college instead of becoming a DJ. Things only escalate from there, including an Ethan Hawke missed connection that still haunts her soul.Trae shares his own catalogue of humiliation, from confidently announcing “I was on Bill Maher” to Tim Robbins with no follow-up, to screaming his friend GABE's name across a room full of A-list celebrities, to destroying his kids' new drone in front of an elderly father-in-law who immediately climbs a tree to retrieve it while silently judging him.Along the way, Jameela recounts freezing into a full-body malfunction while meeting Whitney Cummings, and why sometimes the worst part of a sympathetic interaction is knowing you'll definitely have to see that person again. No villains. No winners. Just deeply relatable micro-humiliations, permanent psychic damage, and the long tail of regret.Jessi Klein's book I'll Show Myself Out is available now, and she co-hosts the podcast Here to Make Friends.Trae Crowder's stand-up special Trash Daddy is streaming on YouTube, and his books The Liberal Redneck Manifesto and Round Here and Over Yonder are out now.Jameela's Substack is A Low Desire To Please, you can also find her on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. Our consulting producer is Colin Anderson.Wrong Turns was created and produced by Jameela Jamil and Stewart Bailey.Listen to Wrong Turns on Amazon Music or wherever you find your podcasts. There are so many layers as to why and how he doesn't want to tell his closest friends exactly what is happening. To our surprise Jordan is there when Rickie needs him. We have an amazing guest star in musician Juliana Hatfield and I tell the story of her Kurt Cobain connection. Angela's parents mean well as they are trying to best handle the situation. Brian's family left for 10 days and of course he wanted to stay home alone.
