Our friends Emily and Kelley from the podcast Wining About Herstory are continuing the story of Juliane Koepcke with us in this episode. Juliane fell 3,000 meters (9,842 feet) from the sky when LANSA flight 508 literally fell apart in 1971 over the Peruvian rainforest. In the second part of her story, Emily and Kelley tell us about her incredible survival and how she lived to tell the tale, write a book, earn her PhD, and study mammalogy. Her story is inspiring, fascinating, and truly a miracle. Find part 1 here! Find all things Wining About Herstory at their website. Please follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter! Vanessa and Rinat take a short trip to the future in this episode, not before talking a little bit about our current and recent travel (Vanessa is talking with us from Ottawa!). We talk about what the future of travel will bring, in the short term and in the long term. We are curious about how airports and flights are going to change, but we also imagine some exciting changes in technology. This time, we're continuing our conversation with Zack Giffin from “Tiny House Nation” (on Netflix and FYI). We pick up where we left off and focus on Zack's worldwide travels for skiing and other projects, as well as what spurred him to live a minimalist life and seize every moment and every day. You'll also hear a little bit about the little community Zack and Vanessa grew up in as neighbours! We enjoyed having Zack Giffin on the podcast for part 1 of a small talk on small houses (or - “Tiny Houses”). You may know Zack from “Tiny House Nation” on Netflix, as he is one of the co-hosts of the show! And he is “kind of a big deal” in the tiny house world. We talked with Zack about minimalism, about the needed change in housing as society makes a shift away from the conventional nuclear family structure, and about choosing experiences over possessions. Zack also tells us about his personal choice of living in a tiny house to be able to ski almost full time. Can you imagine packing all that you own into a tiny house on wheels and turning your life into every skier's dream? Please excuse any audio flubs in this remotely recorded interview. We're back with a second episode to talk about gamification and travel with Yu-Kai Chou. This time, we have a question from a listener, Paul from Edmonton, who is a camp guide in Canada. Yu-Kai suggests a fun way to gamify activities for him. More for grown ups, we also discuss with Yu-Kai how to use gamification to overcome hesitancy when trying new things when we travel. And finally (make sure to listen for this one!) Yu-Kai tells us how he gamifies his own life and gives us a recipe that you can use to gamify your own! Enjoy. Yu-Kai Chou is a renowned figure in gamification and we're excited to have him on our podcast. We talk about the core drives that are the basis for what makes games fun for us and how these core drives are related to travel. It turns out, these drives are prebuilt in travel and you can use your awareness of them to gamify your travel! We cover road trips, hiking, and other types of travel and how to make them more fun. This is part 1 of our interview with Yu-Kai and part 2 will be released for our next episode. Please excuse any audio flubs in this remotely recorded interview. Alyssa Greene, a therapist and a blogger, joins us on our podcast for an intimate talk about core values and how you can plan your travel according to your values. We talk about identifying your values, what you can do when you travel to practice them, and how this can help you build your self esteem and confidence. Alyssa also shares with us her own stressful experience at Charles De Gaulle airport as evidence for travel being a confidence booster. In this episode, we (Rinat and Vanessa) have a discussion with Ted, Vanessa's co-host on The Multipod - a podcast for people who are multipotentialites. We talk about how we can travel when we are tied to our homes. Ted has been travelling for a few years now from home using Google Earth because he has two small children and he and his wife cannot travel with them in the same way they traveled before - with backpacking and road trips. Ted also tells us his travel history and his days as a tour guide in Alberta's Rocky Mountains, a few hours down the highway from us in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; which gave him the idea to potentially turn his Google Earth travelling hobby into virtual guided tours. We enjoyed our conversation and wanted to share it with you. Enjoy listening! We mentioned some ideas for travelling from home. This episode continues our COVID-19 mini-series with some tips on how to make the best out of your quarantine. Want to move your body a little, keep your sanity and stay enthusiastically busy? We got some really good tips from our listeners on how to reach these goals, including useful apps and websites that you can use, but most importantly - practical caring human advice. To us, the hosts of That's the Ticket!, a travel mindset is the optimal mindset to be in. It is challenging to think about how to apply a travel mindset to normal days, and even more challenging in these COVID-19 days. We encourage our listeners to think about how to apply a travel mindset even when it's not that obvious how to. We gave you a ton of resources in this episode. Erica in Italy, Lindsay in Japan, Jennifer in Yukon, Raj in Mexico, Marcello and Outi in Switzerland, and Breawn in Colorado are all in the same boat of COVID-19 (along with the whole world). In this episode, we hear more stories and experiences of people around the world. Erica, Lindsay, Jennifer, Raj, Marcello, Outi, and Breawn share with us the atmosphere in their locations from their perspectives, and their own personal situations and thoughts in this COVID-19 pandemic. We hear stories of parents in different places, who have to worry about how to work when their kids are around, and people finding themselves in interesting situations, like a couple who had to move to a new country during the pandemic. We also hear a bit of Lindsay's perspective about the cruise ship that was stuck in Japan - it seems like we are all stuck in this together like the people on that cruise ship.
