Directoarea de țară pentru Humane World for Animals în România, Andreea Roseti, spune la emisiunea Planeta Verde că este optimistă că Bruxelles-ul va decide interzicerea acestor centre: ”Avem așteptări mari de la Comisie și anume să se interzică în sfârșit fermele de blănuri la nivelul Uniunii Europene”. Ea spune în ce condiții sunt ținute aceste animale: ”A crește animale sălbatice în cuști, că le numim ferme sau cum vrem să le numim, este o practică foarte crudă și care niciodată nu va putea să le ofere o viață acelor animale. (Independencia de la República Dominicana) Hija de Fernando Sánchez e Isidora Ramona, María Trinidad Sánchez formó parte del grupo de Febreristas que lucharon por la Independencia dominicana. Como fiel seguidora de Juan Pablo Duarte, confeccionó la primera bandera nacional junto con Concepción Bona, habiendo participado desde el principio en aquel movimiento independentista que culminó el 27 de febrero de 1844. Esa noche histórica, María Trinidad transportó pólvora en sus propias faldas y elaboró muchos de los cartuchos que utilizaron los trinitarios. Lamentablemente, durante los seis meses siguientes hubo pleitos constantes entre los miembros liberales trinitarios y los miembros conservadores de la Junta Central Gubernativa que se formó. Fue tal la discordia entre los dos bandos que el 22 de agosto la Junta, presidida por el general Pedro Santana, declaró traidores e infieles a la Patria a los tres próceres Juan Pablo Duarte, Matías Ramón Mella y Francisco del Rosario Sánchez, junto con cinco de sus compañeros, y decretó su destierro a perpetuidad. Acto seguido, María Trinidad Sánchez, tía de Francisco del Rosario, se integró al movimiento que surgió para derrocar al general Santana. En el transcurso de los meses siguientes, ella alojó en su casa a los disidentes y se convirtió en la organizadora y orientadora de la conspiración que tenía el propósito de lograr el regreso de los patriotas. Cuando se descubrió la insurrección, María Trinidad y sus cómplices fueron apresados. Conscientes de que María Trinidad era la única que conocía el escondite de su sobrino debido a que ella misma le llevaba las comunicaciones de parte de los conspiradores, la presionaron a que lo revelara. Pero, tal como lo manifiesta el dictamen del Consejo de Guerra que la condenó a muerte, ella se negó «obstinadamente a delatar a los principales». Prefirió callar y enfrentarse al pelotón de fusilamiento antes que traicionar a sus compañeros de conjura. El 27 de febrero de 1845, María Trinidad Sánchez partió de la fortaleza Ozama hacia el cementerio donde se ejecutaría la sentencia. Al pasar por la Puerta del Conde, exclamó: «¡Dios mío, cúmplase en mí tu voluntad y sálvese la República!» Fue así como, en el primer aniversario de la Independencia nacional, aquella heroica mujer dio su vida por la causa de la soberanía de su patria.1 ¡Qué bueno sería que todos nosotros, al igual que María Trinidad, siguiéramos el ejemplo de Jesucristo, el Hijo de Dios, rogándole a Dios Padre que se cumpla su voluntad en nosotros! Aquella heroína dominicana lo hizo a fin de salvar la república a la que tanto amaba, para que cada uno de sus compatriotas pudiera disfrutar de plena libertad en una patria soberana. Cuñados a punto de matarse. Padres que desheredan a algunos hijos. Primos que ni se miran. Y sucede con más frecuencia de lo que uno se imagina», escribe el historiador colombiano Gustavo Gómez Ardila en su obra titulada Cúcuta para reírla (Escenas de su historia). «En política también sucede. Sé de hermanos que militan en grupos políticos diferentes.... Y por lo menos durante el tiempo de campaña, las relaciones fraternales se marchitan. »Simón Bolívar y Ramón Correa, respectivos comandantes de los ejércitos patriota y español, que se enfrentaron en la Batalla de Cúcuta, eran hermanos de leche. Habían [sido amamantados por la misma nodriza].... Eso dicen. Otros dicen que eran cuñados. Hermanos políticos. Que la mujer de Correa era la que había [sido amamantada por la misma nodriza] que Bolívar. »Por aquellas cosas del destino, resultaron en bandos contrarios, pero consta que no eran enemigos personales. De modo que no es raro que la noche del 27 de febrero se hubieran llamado por celular para saludarse y desearse suerte al otro día», dice jocosamente Gómez Ardila. «“Nos vemos en la Loma mañana, hermano”», debió decirle el uno al otro.... «... Lo cierto es que los ejércitos se enfrentaron ese domingo, 28 de febrero. Correa estaba en Cúcuta y Bolívar venía de Urimaco. El zafarrancho se armó desde temprano, pues Correa le salió al paso a Bolívar que, en silencio y sin prender ni un fósforo, había llegado la noche anterior a una de las lomas del occidente de la ciudad. Un poco más de dos horas duró el combate. Los realistas comenzaron ganando, pero, como sucede en los partidos de fútbol, no siempre el que abre el marcador es el vencedor final. Vino el empate y, sin necesidad de meterle tiempo adicional ni de ir a tiros penales, Bolívar se alzó con la victoria cuando ordenó atacar por los flancos a bayoneta calada.»1 ¡Qué graciosa esa imagen anacrónica de los comandantes contrarios hablando por teléfono móvil la que nos pinta el escritor colombiano! ¿Qué tal si, como Gómez Ardila, le damos alas a nuestra imaginación, y nos imaginamos a Dios mismo hablando por teléfono, primero con el uno, y después con el otro? ¿Qué pudo haberles dicho Dios? ¿Les habría preguntado si estaban listos para encontrarse con Él cara a cara como su Creador, ya que ninguno de los dos tenía la certeza de que saldría con vida de la batalla que iba a librar el día siguiente? (Ese día murieron dos soldados patriotas y veinte soldados españoles.2) ¿Les habría recordado que envió al mundo a su Hijo Jesucristo para morir por los pecados de ellos, de modo que pudieran disfrutar de vida plena y eterna?
