Today on the podcast I'm sharing a conversation I had with Alyssa Chang. Alyssa is a health coach who brings over 9 years of neuroscience study to her work to help women better listen to, trust, and befriend their body. This podcast is for the high-achieving woman, that's you!, wanting to find balance and calm around food and in other areas of her life. Don't worry, balance here isn't about juggling a million balls in the air all at once… and doing it perfectly. It's about slowing down enough to listen to your own body, trusting your voice, and finding what healthy means for you. If you're ready for this new kind of balance, one where you feel calm around food and confident in yourself, then you're in the right place! Subscribe for encouragement in how to feel your best self every week! She shares with us that wealthy people who decide, no matter where they start, can make the change in a single generation. When Robbie and I decided that there wasn't an option to stay in debt, Alyssa and Chuck worked with us after the decision. Find Alyssa and Chuck at www.simplemoneycoach.com
Alyssa Greenberg is a freelance photographer based in NYC with a focus in lifestyle, fashion and portraiture and has worked with some of the biggest names in brands and entertainment. Back in 2015, after having gone swimming in a lake with her friends, Alyssa's right eye unknowingly became infected with Acanthamoeba Keratitis, a parasite, that resulted in 2 cornea transplants and ultimately completely lost her vision in her right eye which is the eye she used to shoot with. While she says that she wouldn't wish what happened to her on her worst enemy, she is actually grateful it happened to her because it entirely shifted her perspective and view of life for the better. This life changing hurdle only reinforced her deep love of photography and she decided to adapt and persevere. She trained her left eye to be her "shooting eye" and says that losing her vision has actually driven her to become an even better photographer. On this episode we discuss her background into how she got into photography in the first place, she walks us through her whole process of having lost her vision and how she coped, what she learned about people and how they deal with pain, and her biggest learnings from going through it, we talk about the importance of being truly grateful (specifically for your health), why your passion doesn't necessarily need to be your carer, finding the small things to actually be the biggest victories and getting comfortable with adapting no matter the circumstance. Alyssa Winans took the road less traveled. She wasn't born with a pencil in her hand. Sure, she always appreciated art, but (like many of us) didn't consider it as something that could be a profession. When it came time to pursue plan for life beyond high school, she learned that, well, art is a thing that you can actually earn a living with. That was the turning point for her and pursued it with her whole heart. Not only did Alyssa get in to RISD (Rhode Island School of Design), she thrived there and her hard work has earned her a spot at one of the most celebrated and visible illustration teams in the world - she's a Google Doodler. During today's episode, Alyssa talks about her journey, her methodical approach to the discipline of illustration and what she enjoys doing in her off time. Cover art courtesy of Alyssa Winans. It’s always a joy to share with my friend, Alyssa Bethke! Alyssa has an infectious smile, and we know her enthusiasm for life will be an encouragement to you, today. This is how she sums up the work she and her husband do on the interwebs … “We are Jeff & Alyssa Bethke. We have two kids, Kinsley and Kannon, and a dog named Aslan. We live in Maui, and we like to create things on the internet. In fact, that's probably how or why you're here! We consider it an immense privilege that people care to listen or read what we have to say.
