Here's another episode! This time about villains! This one specifically about your one off villains, your cannon fodder, your villains that have a plan and want it real bad and who get thwarted quickly by your players. We take a dive into Homer's "The Odyssey" to explore episodic plot styles and discover what types of villains fit this kind of story telling. This one's a throwback episode: just Brendan the drunk DM and a mic. And of course a beverage recipe as well in the form of a Manhattan. Recipeas follows: 2 parts rye (I prefer Rittenhouse) 1 part sweet vermouth (My choice is Dolin) 2 dashes bitters (Classically Angustora bitters but I like chocolate bitters personally) Mix that in a glass full of ice and strain into a coup, with a garnish in the form of a maraschino cherry --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/thedrunkdm/support

All while sipping on the quintessential holiday treat, Bailey's and hot cocoa! Welcome to the official start of our campaign diary series! I sat down with two of my players to reminisce on the last year of our campaign together. Tyler and Katherine (a.k.a. Malik and Sariel respectively) give a view from the player side of the screen as we recount the fall of Malik's village, Hombul, and the role Sariel had in its downfall. The Moscow Mule was featured in this episode because it is easy to make, easy to drink, and perfect for kicking back and talking D&D. Moscow Mule 1 Lime 2 Mint sprigs 1.5oz Vodka Club Soda 1oz Ginger Syrup Muddle Vodka, Lime, and mint sprigs at the bottom of your mug. Pack with ice. Top with Ginger Syrup and Club Soda (Ginger Beer works fine in a pinch) and stir gently to keep carbonation. Garnish with mint and lime. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/thedrunkdm/support

Hey adventurers! Trying something new this go round. I cracked open the most recent Unearthed Arcana from Wizards of the Coast and holy moly is it fun. This one features two awesome subclasses for the bard and the warlock with a "beyond-the-grave" vibe. In this ep I look at the bard College of Spirits and let me just say it has one of the coolest abilities I've ever seen. Per usual I'm accompanied by a beverage but this time it comes in the form of a cocktail. I show you how to make a margarita and I won't go one by one through the brands of ingredients but I will call out the makers of the Orange liqueur I used "Tippler's" out of St. Petersburg, FL (I always like to promote local companies who source locally). They make a hell of a product. Hey guys, in this bad boy I intro the Campaign Diary Series and give you the history of my very own setting. All the while I drink a very boozy old favorite of mine "St. Bernardus Christmas Ale". It is literally one of my all time favorites and I will always recommend that bad boy. Also... some content had to be pushed out to a second bonus episode that should be up now just because it hit some more... adult points. So stay tuned. But! Welcome to the world of theory crafting! In this episode I make the most agile D&D 5e character I possibly can up through level 10 and give you some advice about theory crafting your own crazy characters. Hopefully, you get some inspiration for your own games. But honestly, the highlight for me was the absolutely bonkers beer from the Brewing Project called Puff Tart XL. This is the best beer I've had on the show to date and if you can get your hands on it, please please please email me and I will be more than happy to trade for some more cans of that ridiculous beer. Adventurers... this is the last episode of our opening series to new DM's and man, its been very fun. This one's all about setting the expectations for your game early so you can run the game as unhindered as possible right from the top. Accompanying this ep is a unique milk stout by Collective Arts and southern Grist breweries called "All the Things". It's a super strange mash up of banana, pistachio, cream, and cardamom and man does it taste like chocolate chip banana bread. Anyways, I'll miss these more instructional guides but I am really excited for what comes next! We are gearing up to record our first "one-shot" episode, starting a campaign diary series, and working on some really fun theory crafting for those of you looking for some interesting character ideas. Of course we will be intermingling all that with these helpful guides to steer you through your games as well. The second to last episode in our "So you want to DM" series walks you through your very first session complete with creating your first town and NPCs! As for myself, I thought I'd give you a taste of a local brewery in south FL, Hop Life Brewing Co. with their pub-like Fire Hog Red Lager. Welcome to the first episode of the Drunk DM's Demystified Survival Guide! Here we talk about all the wonderful things that go into DMing in our favorite way which is... over a drink. In this episode I go through that scary period of time between when you first say, "Yeah, I think I want to DM," to when you sit down at the table with your first group. To help get over my fear of uploading my first podcast I cracked open a... well... let's just say "interesting" farm house ale from Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales that tasted a bit more like mustard and Haribo Sour Snakes than anything else. If you want to reach out to me about anything you hear me talk about here or if you want to just say hi, send me an email over at drunkdmpodcast@gmail.com I really want to use this podcast as a way to open discussions and learn from other DM's so please, please, please, I'd love your input!
