On our Browns at Bears preview edition of the Orange and Brown Talk podcast, Mary Kay Cabot Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe offer a complete look-ahead to the Browns' frigid road game against the Chicago Bears. The primary focus is on rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders. After taking huge strides last week, can he repeat his performance against a Bears defense that leads the league in takeaways and interceptions? This game is a critical test of his development and his bid to be the Browns' franchise quarterback. They also discuss how the Browns' defense will bounce back against the run after giving up big plays to the Titans, and whether Myles Garrett can get closer to the sack record against an elusive Caleb Williams. Then, film analyst Lance Reisland joins to provide an in-depth report on Bears head coach Ben Johnson's creative offense and the Bears' opportunistic defense. To wrap it up, Mary Kay, Ashley, Lance and Dan all make their predictions. Brent Axe recaps Syracuse basketball's 71-63 win over St. Joseph's at the JMA Dome on Thursday night. It wasn't a pretty game at all for the Orange, who got worked in the paint (St. Joe's out-rebounded SU 44-34) and just couldn't find a rhythm on offense. Axe described the combination of factors that led to such a blah night at the Dome. SU had 9 days off entering the game. It was a late 9 p.m on a snowy night in Syracuse. Players had exams this week and a few were under the weather. As Axe discussed, that doesn't excuse a few concerning patterns the Orange have with a lack of offensive identity and its terrible free-throw shooting, but at least they were able to dig deep and grind out a win. On this episode of the Orange and Brown Talk podcast, Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe talk all things Shedeur Sanders. With Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski officially handing him the reins for the rest of the season, they analyze what stood out from the rookie quarterback's latest press conference. They discuss Shedeur's hungry, underdog mentality, noting that as a fifth-round pick, he understands nothing is guaranteed and he has to prove himself in the final four games. The conversation explores how his draft day fall may have been the best thing for his career, giving him a chip on his shoulder and an edge that's fueling his rapid development. They also break down his ability to learn from mistakes, like the costly interception against the Titans, and how he's balancing his "hero ball" instincts with smarter play. They also touch on the dynamic between Sanders and his risk-averse head coach, and how the coach is learning how to best use the rookie's impressive elusiveness and accuracy. Finally, they look ahead to the frigid matchup against the interception-heavy Chicago Bears, a true test of his progress and mental fortitude. On this Hey, Mary Kay! edition of the Orange and Brown Talk podcast, Mary Kay Cabot and Dan Labbe get right to the biggest topic in Cleveland sports: Shedeur Sanders. Following the Browns' 31-29 loss to the Titans, Sanders has been named the starting quarterback for the rest of the season, and the hosts break down what's at stake. With four tough games ahead, can the fifth-round pick prove he is the franchise's future and take the Browns out of the quarterback sweepstakes in the 2026 NFL Draft? Mary Kay and Dan talk Sanders' impressive traits, from his "it factor" and elite accuracy to his surprising elusiveness and guts in the pocket. They also discuss the massive financial implications of finding a star QB on a rookie deal and how it could allow the Browns to build around him. Answering questions from Football Insider subscribers, they explore what the quarterback room could look like in 2026 with Sanders, Deshaun Watson and Dillon Gabriel, and debate whether it should be an open competition. They also dissect the controversial two-point conversions against the Titans and the analytics behind Kevin Stefanski's aggressive decisions. On this live postgame edition of the Orange and Brown Talk Podcast, Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock, Lance Reisland and Dan Labbe dig into the Browns' 31-29 loss to the Titans. Despite the loss, the main topic of conversation is the breakout performance of rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who threw for 364 yards and accounted for four total touchdowns. They discuss how Sanders bolstered his case to be the Browns' starting quarterback for the future, leading two clutch touchdown drives late in the game to give his team a chance to win. The podcast then pivots to the controversial coaching decisions that ultimately cost the Browns the game. They get into the two failed two-point conversion attempts, specifically the decision to take a red-hot Sanders off the field for the final, game-tying try. They debate the analytics behind the calls and whether it was a moment for "players over plays." Finally, the discussion turns to the team's numerous mistakes, including costly special teams errors and a defensive letdown, and what this loss could mean for the future of head coach Kevin Stefanski. Did you know that when many people hear "Orange," they still ask if it involves SIM cards? That was the perfect place to begin my conversation with Sahem Azzam, President for IMEA and Inner Asia at Orange Business. Once we cleared that up, it opened the door to a much richer story about what enterprise innovation looks like across one of the fastest-moving regions on the planet. Sahem joined me from Dubai, a city that has become a living case study for what happens when a region refuses to think small. As we compared notes from Gitex Global, it became clear that what is happening across the Middle East is not a short burst of enthusiasm. It is a deliberate long-term shift driven by young populations, bold government ambition, and a willingness to adopt new technologies before anyone else. Sahem explained how this appetite for speed is shaping the region's digital transformation and how Orange Business is supporting it through cloud, connectivity, cybersecurity, digital integration, and large-scale smart city programmes. He shared practical stories that peeled back the curtain on cognitive city design, energy optimisation, and the pressure on enterprises to simplify sprawling hybrid IT environments. What stood out was how often the conversation returned to value. Better user experiences, lower costs, and new revenue paths. Everything Orange Business builds must deliver one of those outcomes. Sahem talked through platformization, why unified infrastructure matters, and how enterprises can reduce complexity in an age where cloud, security, networking, and AI all collide at once. We also discussed the growing focus on responsible AI and the shared need for transparency. Sahem spoke about data ownership, trusted models, and the careful guardrails that must sit behind every AI deployment. The rise in cyber threats is making this more important than ever, and he offered a candid look at how Orange Cyberdefense approaches modern security through an integrated view of infrastructure, operations, and risk. What gave this conversation a personal edge was Sahem's final reflection on learning. After years at Stanford, London Business School, and Harvard, he still sees human experience as the most valuable teacher. Listening to people, sharing problems, comparing perspectives. Events like Gitex remind him that optimism is contagious and that the future of the region will be shaped by collaboration as much as technology. If you want a grounded view of digital transformation from someone living it every day, this conversation is a rare window into both the opportunities and the tension behind innovation at scale. Have you seen the same momentum in your own region, and how do you stay ahead of the pace of change? I would love to hear your thoughts. Tech Talks Daily is Sponsored By Denodo. We spend so much of our lives protecting things. We protect our privacy, our inventory, our traditions, and even our sadness. But what if safety is actually the most dangerous thing of all? In this episode of Thinking Out Loud, we travel to a pub in rainy Dublin, a dark stairwell in Beirut, a snowbound station in Japan, and a fragrant kitchen in Berlin. We look at the "Empty Chair" at the head of the table, the cargo of oranges sealed in a truck, and the cheese that is about to spoil. We ask the difficult questions: Are we guarding a shrine or a prison? Why are we so afraid of "loud" smells? And what happens when we finally realize that the only way to save the feast is to give it away? Join me as we learn how to break the seal.
When I went back and edited this episode with my guest, filmmaker Tom Koch, I realized: he's doing a color series of films! To put that much thought into his work as well as have the creative control to name his films is the perfect way to describe Tom: extraordinarily thoughtful, humble, and a guy capable of doing anything in his films: acting, writing, directing, accents, ballet even! His latest film, OLIVE (2025) is an absolute treat -- the logline "while caring for grandma, Sam, the character played by Tom -- begins to question the nature of their relationship" -- and it shows his mastery of the craft. He even knows war films, which is my unique quality. If he ever gets into indie film podcasting, I can't say I wasn't warned about how great he'd be.In this episode, Tom and I talk about:save some talent for the rest of us, Tom -- acting, writing, producing, directing, ballet?!;how he got started in acting;how his approach evolved from ORANGE (2024) to OLIVE (2025);writing a script and playing a character you weren't expecting to play;when writing, directing, and acting becomes a bit too much in indie films;the challenges of casting in a world that cares more about celebrity and follower count than actual talent;how much being a stage actor matters;what does he look for in actors when he's casting his own projects;the best way to think about OLIVE before watching;what excites him about "telling stories with a twist", the motto of his production company;the festival circuit for his films and what advice he has for film festivals;what he's working on now and when people can expect to see OLIVE;whether we'll see him behind a camera and his great eye for war films.Tom's Indie Film Highlight: AMOUR (2012) dir. by Michael Haneke; THE PIANO TEACHER (2001) dir. by Michael Haneke; THE WHITE RIBBON (2009) dir. by Michael Haneke; WARFARE (2025) dir. by Ray Mendoza; Alex GarlandMemorable Quotes:"Nobody saw a stage play or school play of mine...when I was seven and said, oh, that kid.""The big thing that I changed for OLIVE was that ORANGE was really a proof of concept." About acting in OLIVE: "And there was a part of me that thought it would make things easier because I didn't have to find an actor and I didn't have to tell them what Sam was, in a way.""Sadly we're in a world now where we're competing with so many different productions and so many different artists, and funding for film is getting a bit harder because I don't know if people trust the medium as much as before."More about acting: "It's one of the only jobs where people get placed in it out of nowhere when it requires so much training and people go to school for four years to...get better at acting and do like classical work. You would never do that with an athlete.""I don't think it's necessary to do stage to be a great screen actor.""You can take a little bit more liberties with a short...people are not really behind your butt saying oh, you can't write this, you can't write that. Oh, you have to change the ending because you're you're doing your own thing. So it's perfect for that.""It's a very hard and tedious process where the cards are not in your hands and you work for a year on something that you create with a group of people. You put it on a Vimeo link and you pray.""They've watched thousands of films and they picked a few, and they're like, go watch those.""I feel like the more I act, the better director I can become."Links:Follow Tom On InstagramFollow OLIVE On InstagramWatch ORANGE NowSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/first-time-go/exclusive-content

On this episode of the Orange and Brown Talk podcast, Mary Kate Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe react to the news of Deshaun Watson's return to practice. With his 21-day practice window now open, they debate the biggest question on every fan's mind: Will he play again this season? They dig into the team's motivations, suggesting the move is more about evaluating Watson's recovery from his Achilles injury and rewarding his hard work and mentorship of the rookie quarterbacks. While they believe the plan is to finish the season with the rookies, they all agree you can "never say never" with the Browns. They also look ahead to the future, analyzing Watson's massive contract and why he is almost certain to be on the roster in 2026. This leads to a discussion about whether he could realistically compete for the starting job next year. Finally, the group discusses on-field chemistry issues, focusing on the sideline confrontation between Shedeur Sanders and Jerry Jeudy. They explore the importance of timing, trust, and why the final five games are critical for the development of the team's young players. On this episode of the Orange and Brown Talk Podcast, Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock and Dan Labbe set the stage for the upcoming Browns vs. Titans matchup. They dive into the intriguing quarterback battle between the Browns' fifth-round pick, Shedeur Sanders, and the Titans' No. 1 overall pick, Cam Ward, and what this game means for both franchises. The conversation shifts to the future, focusing on draft positioning and whether Sanders can prove he's the long-term answer at quarterback in the season's final games. Ashley highlights the potential for Myles Garrett to break the NFL's single-season sack record against the oft-sacked Cam Ward. They also discuss the opportunity for young players like Mike Hall Jr. and Teven Jenkins to get extended looks due to recent injuries. In the second half of the pod, Lance Reisland joins Dan for a deep dive into the film from the 49ers game. Lance provides a detailed analysis of Shedeur Sanders' performance, pointing out both high-level plays and correctable issues with his footwork and timing. They also dissect special teams breakdowns and the surprising decision to rotate Wyatt Teller on the offensive line. To wrap things up, Dan and Lance have a four-round draft of the worst parts of winter. Brent Axe recaps Syracuse basketball's 62-60 win over No. 13 Tennessee at the JMA Dome on Tuesday night. SU earned a much-needed signature non-conference win by taking down the Vols at the JMA Dome on Tuesday night. Not only for its NCAA Tournament resume, but to show the Orange fanbase and itself it could punch up and win a big game like this after losing three straight games to ranked teams in Las Vegas at the Players' Era Festival. Axe discusses how the defensive presence of William Kyle III (and surprisingly his free throws!) helped lift SU to victory along with a strong first half by Nate Kingz with 19 points and JJ Starling stepping up as a senior leader. On this Hey, Mary Kay! edition of the Orange and Brown Talk Podcast, Mary Kay Cabot and Dan Labbe dive into the fallout from the Browns' 26-8 loss to the 49ers. They begin by discussing the decision to handle quarterback Shedeur Sanders' starting role on a week-to-week basis. Is it a good strategy to keep Sanders hungry and prevent him from getting too comfortable? The conversation then turns to the offense's chemistry issues, particularly the visible on-field frustration between Sanders and wide receiver Jerry Jeudy. Mary Kay and Dan explore why Jeudy is having a subpar season and what his long-term future looks like in Cleveland, considering his contract makes him difficult to move. Mary Kay and Dan also break down the game's most critical blunders, including the confusing and ultimately failed 4th-and-1 direct snap to Harold Fannin Jr. and the continued abysmal play from the special teams unit. Then they tackle the big-picture question of whether Andrew Berry and Kevin Stefanski are "joined at the hip" as the team faces another losing season. Gun Fights Step right up for "Gun Fights," the high-octane segment hosted by Nick Lynch, where our cast members go head-to-head in a game show-style showdown! Each contestant tries to prove their gun knowledge dominance. It's a wild ride of bids, bluffs, and banter—who will come out on top? Tune in to find out! Agency Brief English Bill of Rights 1689 COLD OPEN: Back in 1689, the British figured out that a government with a standing army and disarmed citizens was a bad idea. Then they forgot. THE VILLAIN: KING JAMES II (THE ORIGINAL ANTI-GUNNER) The Motive: James II wanted absolute power and a Catholic takeover of a Protestant nation. The Tactics: Used "Game Laws" (hunting regs) to disarm commoners. Selectively disarmed political enemies (Protestants) while arming loyalists (Catholics). Built a standing army in peacetime to intimidate the populace. The Lesson: Gun control was created to secure political power, not public safety. THE REVOLUTION: THE "GLORIOUS" HOSTILE TAKEOVER The Invite: Elites ("Immortal Seven") invited William of Orange to invade England. The Flight: James II's military support collapsed; he fled to France. The Contract: Parliament told William: "You can be King, but only if you sign this rights document." THE DOCUMENT: WHAT IT ACTUALLY SAYS The Text: "That the subjects which are Protestants may have arms for their defence suitable to their conditions and as allowed by law." The Wins: Recognized an individual right to have arms. Explicitly stated the purpose was "defence" (not just militia service). Banned standing armies in peacetime without Parliament's consent. The Traps (Bugs): "Suitable to their conditions": Classism. Rich people got better determination of rights. "As allowed by law": The loophole that eventually killed gun rights in the UK. THE AMERICAN UPGRADE (FIXING THE BUGS) The Fix: Madison and the Founders looked at the English model and patched the holes. No Classism: Removed "suitable to conditions." Rights are for everyone, poor or rich. No Religion: Removed "Protestants." Rights are for "The People." No Loopholes: Replaced "as allowed by law" with "Shall not be infringed." The Result: The English right was a permission slip from Parliament; the American right is a restriction on the Government. FACT CHECK & MYTH BUSTING Myth: "It was only for militias." Fact: Text says "subjects" (plural individuals) and "for their defence." Myth: "It shows regulation is normal." Fact: It shows that fighting regulation is traditional. The Bill was literally a response to excessive regulation by the King. Hidden Motive: The English elites wanted an armed populace to check the King, but not armed enough to check Parliament. The US Founders wanted the people to check everyone. IMPACT ON YOU (MODERN IMPACT) Supreme Court: In Heller and Bruen, the Court relies on this document to prove that individual gun ownership is an ancient Anglo-American tradition. Litigation: When states try to use "history" to ban guns, we use 1689 to show that disarming citizens is the act of a tyrant, not a legitimate government. Regulatory Creep: Expanding "sensitive places" and "permit requirements" is exactly how the UK used the "allowed by law" loophole to ban everything. We are fighting to keep the "American Upgrade" intact. WLS is Lifestyle Savage - Doing a 3D printed build based on the Ruger 10/22. If you think you've heard some wild shit from your quote-unquote radical friends then you better strap your ear pussies in for a ride. Upon hitting play you will be greeted by 5 cast members and while it will all seem normal for the first 15 seconds, you will soon find out that these dudes are cooler than your actual friends. Shawn, the head of the dick that is WLS, is always front and center, he runs the show and seemingly has seen it all and sometimes he gets drunk and that's when the real fun happens. Jeremy is likened to the shaft, keeps the cast together, is always the one to brag about his size and multiple times throughout the show he will uncontrollably engorge himself with rage. Aaron and Nick are both like the balls, Nick is the higher up one, closer to the head and friendly with the shaft. Seems to have lots of knowledge about the business but you would never know it. For the most part he is quiet and stays out of the way. But when he is needed, he generally has an answer. Aaron on the other hand, he is the lower one, he is the Ying to Nicks Yang, he always can't help himself with getting in the way, of easy conversation. And the rest of the cast always has fun at the expense of Aaron's well being. That being said these 5 guys will broaden your firearms and associated knowledge with true stories, industry news, first hand experience along with a lot of good laughs. Love the show guys. Keep it up. Oh shit, I forgot the 5th guy. Yeah then there's Savage1r. He's the taint. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - from Sigger Jim - I would like to amend my previous review in which i compared the cast to spices. Shawn is Thyme because his hunting stories waste a lot of it. Nick is cream of tarter because hes a little 'tarded, but the good kind of 'tarded. Jeremy is white pepper because white pepper isnt black. Aaron is cumin because all the dudes that cum-in him. Savage is still flour, but unbleached flour this time. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - from Craven Moorehead - ▫️▫️▫️▫️▫️ You know, I like having that A-aron character around. His childlike innocence……no……ignorance, brings out the knowledge from Jeremy (the one everyone seems to think is a cunt) and Nick. Sometimes they need to see what a complete neophyte…..no……buffoon would think about a subject, so that they can expound upon the minutiae. Otherwise they would just assume that everyone is privy to the information, and move on. I also enjoy the older fellow with the ptosis of the scrotum. His stories about spoons and hunting and bad decisions sure will put a fellow to sleep. I think that about covers everyone. In closing, I sure do enjoy the podcast. Enough that I renew my cult membership every time the older fellow screws up the billing. In this week's deep-dive, we're taking you into a case that haunted California for decades and still sends a chill through anyone who reads the details. For more than ten years, a masked predator moved through neighborhoods like a ghost — breaking into homes, stalking families, and leaving devastation behind. The numbers alone are staggering: over a hundred burglaries, at least fifty sexual assaults, and thirteen confirmed murders. He slipped between counties and police departments, stayed a step ahead of massive task forces, and then — somehow — disappeared. Not into the shadows, but into ordinary suburban life, where he lived free for more than forty years. This is the full story of Joseph James DeAngelo — the man the world would come to know as the Golden State Killer. We start back in 1974 in Visalia, a small agricultural city where a strange series of burglaries had detectives completely rattled. The person behind them wasn't grabbing TVs or cash. He was spending hours inside people's homes, taking small, personal things — a single earring, coins, women's underwear — and rearranging objects in ways that felt deliberate and unsettling. It wasn't just theft. It was a message: I was here. I know you. I can get to you. From there, we follow the escalation as the Visalia Ransacker's crimes tip into attempted abduction and then murder. We walk through the December 1975 killing of Claude Snelling, a journalism professor who died protecting his teenage daughter from being taken. And we cover the terrifying near-capture just two days later, when Detective William McGowen fought the prowler face-to-face and survived only because the suspect's gun misfired at point-blank range. Then the nightmare shifts north. In 1976, Sacramento is hit by a new kind of terror. The East Area Rapist begins attacking women in their homes with a level of planning and cruelty that left investigators stunned. We break down how his assaults evolved, including the moment he began targeting couples — tying up husbands and boyfriends, stacking dishes on their backs, and forcing them to listen helplessly while he raped their partners. We look at the psychological warfare he used to control entire communities: threatening phone calls, stalking routines, and the methodical surveillance he did before striking again. As the years pass, his crimes migrate south — and turn deadly. Starting in 1979, the man now known as the Original Night Stalker begins murdering couples in their homes across Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Orange counties. We go crime scene by crime scene, showing how the evidence slowly — and finally — revealed that Visalia, Sacramento, and Southern California were all connected to the same offender. We also dig into the long, frustrating decades of investigation: the dead ends, the jurisdictional chaos, and the breakthroughs that came only when DNA technology caught up to the case. And of course, we cover the seismic moment in 2018 when genetic genealogy identified the suspect, leading detectives straight to DeAngelo's quiet home in Citrus Heights — the same kind of suburb he once terrorized. The twist that still hits like a gut punch? During the height of his crime spree, DeAngelo was a police officer, using his training and insider knowledge to stay invisible. We close with the plea and sentencing — a historic reckoning where fifty-three victims and family members stood up in court to face the man who had stolen so much from them. Their impact statements are heartbreaking, powerful, and a reminder that this story isn't just about the monster — it's about the people who survived him. This episode is the result of hundreds of hours of research across court records, investigative files, victim testimony, and years of reporting. Our goal was to tell this story with care, accuracy, and respect — honoring the victims and the investigators who refused to let the case die. The Golden State Killer investigation didn't just end with an arrest. It changed law enforcement forever. Genetic genealogy opened a door to solving cold cases that once seemed impossible, and we talk about both the promise of that tool and the ethical questions that come with it.And we take a moment to recognize Michelle McNamara, whose relentless work on I'll Be Gone in the Dark helped reignite national attention and kept pressure on the investigation. She died in 2016, two years before DeAngelo was caught, but her voice and determination are woven into the story of how this case was finally solved. If you think you know this case, stick with us — because when you lay every chapter out in full, the scale and horror of what happened, and the way it was finally unraveled, is almost impossible to comprehend.

In this episode, Dr Jo explores why the latest burnout statistics in healthcare actually give her hope, revealing that 69% of healthcare professionals are experiencing burnout - making it a systemic issue, not a personal failing. She breaks down the key drivers affecting all healthcare disciplines, from increasing patient complexity to overwhelming administrative burdens, and explains why being part of the "70% Club" means you're normal, not broken. Jo shares practical strategies using her four pillars of burnout recovery (mindset, movement, sleep, and support) that work across all healthcare professions, emphasizing her signature approach of "imperfect consistency." The episode provides both personal coping strategies and professional workplace solutions to help healthcare workers support each other and advocate for systemic change. Perfect timing for the end-of-year burnout many healthcare professionals experience in December.Resources:https://drjobraid.comwww.instagram.com/burnoutrecoverydrwww.linkedin.com/in/drjobraid I acknowledge that I create this podcast on the traditional lands of the Wiradjuri people, who have been the custodians of this land around Orange, New South Wales, for thousands of generations. I pay my respects to Wiradjuri Elders past, present, and emerging, and recognize the continuing connection to land, waters, and culture. This acknowledgment is a small but important step in recognizing the sovereignty of First Nations peoples and the deep historical and ongoing relationship with Country. In the early 1920s, walking around Orange, New Jersey at night, you might have seen young women coming out of a factory, with hair, skin and clothes softly glowing in the dark. Some called them “ghost girls.” Newspapers would later call them “radium girls” because the glow on these women came from radium-based paint that they used to make glow-in-the-dark watches for the US Radium Corporation. They thought it was perfectly safe to work with radium, maybe even healthy. They'd soon find out it wasn't. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. In this live postgame edition of the Orange and Brown Talk Podcast, Mary Kay Cabot, Ashley Bastock, Lance Reisland and Dan Labbe break down the Browns' 26-8 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. They start by analyzing the performance of rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders in his second start. They discuss the positive takeaways, including a well-thrown touchdown pass to Harold Fannin Jr. and avoiding costly interceptions, while also examining his development and what these final games mean for his future with the team. Can he do enough to prove he's the long-term answer at quarterback? They also touch on the sideline frustration between Sanders and Jerry Jeudy, the team's offensive chemistry issues and the overall sense of a season of missed opportunities. Another major topic of discussion? The continued struggles of the special teams. They detail several critical errors, from a muffed punt to poor returns, that gave the 49ers excellent field position and directly impacted the game's outcome. They explore how these recurring mistakes have cost the Browns multiple games this season, largely wasting a dominant defensive effort. Mailbag questions or topic suggestions? Text us!A cupcake caper, an Unreal-powered mansion, and a question every youth leader wrestles with: should we separate junior high and high school? We sit down with student pastor Michelle Kruse from Summit Christian Church to unpack how age-intentional programming can transform engagement without requiring a bigger building or a bigger budget. Michelle walks us through their midweek system that alternates middle school and high school in the same space, why the teaching style shifts for each group, and how small groups, worship, and pace change when you design for real developmental stages. We also explore the hidden engine of healthy transitions: a purposeful preteen ministry. Michelle shares how she launched a fourth and fifth grade service, then empowered a part-time couple—both teachers—to lead with Orange curriculum, accessible teaching, and consistent small groups. The result is a smoother handoff into student ministry, monthly fifth-grade previews of midweek, and camp experiences that ease anxiety. One of our favorite moments: why the car ride home with a parent might be the most important discipleship moment for preteens. If you're navigating limited space, limited volunteers, or mixed-age expectations, this conversation offers practical tactics you can try tomorrow: teaching twice in one night, swapping spaces, recruiting part-time leaders, and inviting high schoolers to serve in preteen or middle school to keep mentorship alive. We also get honest about quality tradeoffs, leader health, and how to read your context so you can separate where it matters most and still sustain a life-giving pace.Subscribe, share this episode with a fellow youth leader, and leave a review with one change you're considering for your next gathering—we'd love to hear what you'll try first.

Brent Axe and Javon Edmonds recap Syracuse football's 34-12 loss to Boston College at the JMA Dome. As for the loss to BC itself, there really wasn't much to reflect on beyond another anemic performance from the Orange offense and the SU defense getting gashed for 433 yards by a 1-10 football team. Javon and Brent focused most of the conversation on the offseason and 5 things Fran Brown has to do to get SU football back on track. FLOPPY DAYS 157 - Interview with David Kay, KayPro - Part 1 Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FloppyDays Sponsors: 8-Bit Classics Arcade Shopper and https://thekeep.net FutureVision Research Tuc's Workbench Hello, and welcome to episode 157 of the Floppy Days Podcast for November, 2025. I am Randy Kindig, your host. We are currently covering computers introduced in the year 1982 and, to that end, this month I'm beginning a series of podcasts about the Kaypro line of computers. Kaypro had a rich and varied family of computers; certainly much more so than I ever realized. In researching Kaypro, I discovered that while Andrew Kay, the founder of the computer company, was no longer around, it turns out his son David, who ran the company for some time, was still around. I was able to contact David and he graciously agreed to talk with us for the podcast. Kaypro has a very interesting storyline and I hope you enjoy this. We talked so long that I decided to break the interview into 2 parts, so you'll hear part 1 this month, and part 2 next month. Following that, we'll delve into episodes covering history, tech specs, etc. on the Kaypro. All the usual topics. It looks as though I'll have 2 episodes covering those topics. I will have a video for this posted to the Floppy Days Podcast on YouTube. One note here. This is one of the last videos where I used a videoconferencing tool that just didn't do a great job. It has a tendency to not keep up with video and you may note that the mouth doesn't stay in sync with the audio sometimes during the interview. In addition, audio-wise, you may hear some low clicks throughout the interview. I've since switched to Zoom and it seems to do a better job of audio and video quality, albeit more expensive. You will hear ads from some great vintage computer stores, themselves vintage computer fans, throughout the early part of this podcast. For all of these storefronts, when you place an order, please mention Floppy Days in the notes or comments of the order. Doing so will help support the podcast. Many thanks!! Please let me know your thoughts. Enjoy!! In this episode of the Guns Podcast U.S., host Brent Wheat and special guest Roy Huntington dive deep into the critical decision-making process of self-defense. Taking a cue from the classic Kenny Rogers song, they discuss knowing "when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em" regarding lethal force. The conversation challenges the "keyboard commando" mentality, emphasizing that carrying a firearm does not obligate you to be a hero in every situation. Drawing from decades of combined law enforcement experience, Brent and Roy explore the "Scared Bunny Defense" and why evading a threat is often the superior tactical choice over engaging. They analyze real-world scenarios—from domestic disputes in parking lots to potential active shooter situations—to illustrate the legal and physical risks of inserting yourself into third-party conflicts. The episode also covers Jeff Cooper's Color Codes of Awareness and the stark difference between shooting paper targets and handling the adrenaline of a real-life confrontation. KEY TAKEAWAYS - The "Scared Bunny Defense"—retreating or avoiding conflict entirely—is often the most tactical and legally sound option for concealed carriers. - Carrying a gun requires leaving your ego at home; engaging in a conflict just to save face can lead to prison or death. - Possessing a firearm does not equal having the training to use it effectively; without stress inoculation, shooters often revert to zero skills. - Utilize Jeff Cooper's Color Codes (White, Yellow, Orange, Red) to maintain situational awareness and avoid being caught unprepared. - Intervening in third-party situations (like domestic disputes or robberies) exposes you to massive liability and physical danger often outweighing the benefits. - Distraction techniques, such as throwing a fake money clip or verbally de-escalating, can be effective alternatives to drawing a weapon. -- Have a topic idea or a guest you'd like to see in a future episode?
