Writing in a diary or journal is usually a personal and private act, but there are published diaries that have changed the world. There are scholars who study diaries and family members who treasure them. And if you have a diary, there just might be an archive that would like to collect it when you're gone. Betsy Rubiner, a journalist, author and a life-long diarist discusses her book, Our Diaries, Ourselves: How Diarists Chronicle Their Lives and Document our World. Also in this episode, we listen back to a conversation with Stella Youngbear, who has been creating beadwork for over 65 years. (A portion of this episode was originally produced Aug. 8, 2024.)

Sam & Tom sit down to review their visit to Conwy Golf Club on the north coast of Wales. With a history stretching back to 1869, and Hoylake professional Jack Morris the man behind the initial design, Conwy is a breathtaking piece of land on which to play golf. We had a great time here, settling a club championship match in a four-club wind.In more recent years, Frank Pennink re-designed much of the course following the two World Wars in the first half of the 20th century. Most recently, Mackenzie & Ebert's work with the club has seen gorse removed, green sites enlarged, and bunkers returned to more naturalised shapes. For those of you who follow the trials and tribulations of our matches on the road, the ‘Club Championship' section of the website is filled with match reports as we go, along with a league table tracking our performance records. What do you do when your child's “entrepreneurial spirit” earns them a detention slip? This conversation is messy, honest, and human — just like parenting. In this honest and relatable Super Woman Diaries episode of Chasing Brighter, Jessica and Kelly unpack a parenting moment that many of us quietly fear: getting that call from school. Kelly shares the story of her son Beckett, who started selling 3D printed items to classmates — including a plastic knife — and ended up in detention. What started as creativity and hustle quickly turned into a lesson about rules, responsibility, and consequences. And like all real-life parenting moments, it wasn't black and white.

Have you been waiting to start investing because you’re scared you’ll get it wrong? This week’s Money Diarist started with a hot stock tip from her Dad and then it… didn’t perform. Instead of spiralling, she levelled up. She stopped chasing individual shares and started understanding what she was actually buying. She started automating her investing so emotions weren’t running the show (and she wasn't checking her app every 5 minutes). Now at 32, she has around $100,000 in shares, another $100,000 sitting in her offset, and roughly $140,000 in super... on a regular salary This ep is proof that investing does not reward perfection. this week on Delusional Diaries, Halley and Jaz catch up the only way they know how... from celebrating 100 Solidcore classes and resurrecting 90s Tae Bo, to surviving the most aggressive New York cold snap of all time, the girls recap wedding weekends, Miami plans, Turks anticipation, and why group trips, where everyone's down to drink and beat the same topics into the ground, are elite. there's also a deep dive into phone battery conspiracies, hoarder-level camera rolls, and the mildly concerning contents of their notes apps.but the heart of the episode centers around Halley's intense court experience after being “allegedly” assaulted in New York. she opens up about testifying, being cross-examined by the defendant (who represented himself), the chaos of courtroom objections, and the emotional toll of being photographed and gaslit throughout the process. it's raw, frustrating, at times darkly funny, and an ironic reminder of how draining the legal system can be… especially when someone refuses accountability. the girls unpack what it felt like in real time, from courtroom theatrics to the surreal moment of watching TikTok evidence played out in court.as always, the episode balances heavy with hilariously chaotic. they spiral into jury duty fantasies, debate whether you can escape hell once you're in it, confess to adult-onset lice trauma (yes, really), read old hate letters to brokers, and expose their most embarrassing past crushes. Increased energy and inner peace Once you stop expending energy on emotionally draining and dead-end situations, you have more energy to spend on manifesting resources and giving back to the world. Taking care of yourself You are no longer dependent on others to take care of your needs and resolve your conflicts. You can resolve them without anyone else's assistance or participation. Taking action to influence peaceful outcomes You no longer sit on the sidelines feeling like life is in control of you. You consciously and intentionally take actions to manifest peaceful outcomes to everyday conflicts. Fewer internal conflicts, therefore fewer external ones As you bring peace to your inner world, so will your outer world be more peaceful. People will either shift as you do or find someone else to engage in their dramas. More creativity Once you start exercising your creativity in learning new ways to resolve conflicts, that creativity is available for other pursuits as well. Becoming a leader; inspiring others By taking control of your own Domain, you become an inspiration to others and show them how it can be done.
It's 1973, and Gyles is still working hard: putting on his star-studded son-et-lumières, appearing on Opportunity Knocks and... getting married. Yes, in a low-key and very private ceremony in London, Gyles Brandreth and Michèle Brown become husband and wife. They have a delicious lunch out and then go to Rome for their honeymoon, where they see the Pope. this week on Delusional Diaries, Halley and Jaz are joined by Alicia Crowder, aka Diana from Tell Me Lies, and it's peak fangirl chaos and behind-the-scenes tea. they get into the cult-like TikTok community around the show, insane fan theories that almost outdo the writers, and what it's like to watch people dissect your character in real time. from auditioning over Zoom and finding out she booked the role while sitting on her couch, to the shock of reading THAT plot twist, Alicia shares what it's really like being at the center of one of the internet's most unhinged relationship dramas.the girls dive deep into Diana's psychology: ambition, codependency, perfectionism, and that terrifying type-A composure that somehow still cracks. they talk toxic men, manipulation disguised as love, and why Stephen isn't strategic, he just wants control. Alicia opens up about Juilliard, 15-hour shoot days, filming scenes out of order, memorizing five-page dialogues, and the pressure of delivering emotional chaos on cue at 4 a.m. plus, the subtle power move of asking writers to let Diana score higher on the LSAT (as she should).and because this is Delusional Diaries, it wouldn't be complete without a little fun: Diana answering Hinge prompts, night owl vs. morning person debates, dog-mom routines, superstitions during auditions, and the very real spiral of waiting to hear if you're “the final two.” it's a mix of ambition, vulnerability, internet obsession, and the reminder that even the most put-together girls are still human. chaotic, thoughtful, and slightly delusional, obviously. just, with a special guest this time!Timestamps0:17 - Alicia Crowder from Tell Me Lies 14:45 - Season 3 reactions (and spoilers) 21:18 - If Diana was on Hinge 27:30 - Auditioning for Tell Me Lies 35:41 - Need a Season 4 Follow Alicia CrowderInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/alicialucillecrowder?igsh=MXdwNnlqYnlxdzk2bw==TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@alicialucillecrowder?_r=1&_t=ZP-93qX27Ub0DXMore of Delusional Diaries Podcast:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/delusionaldiariespodcast/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@delusionaldiariespodcastYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@DelusionaldiariespodcastSubstack: https://delusionaldiariespodcast.substack.com/Website: https://delusionaldiaries.com/More of Halley:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/halleykmcg/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@halleykateMore of Jaz:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/justjazzzyidk/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@justjazzzyidkYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/justjazzzyidkLinks Caraway - visit Carawayhome.com/DIARIES and use code DIARIES for 10% off your order Apartments.com - visit apartments.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Can you judge a championship contender before the ball even tips? In this segment, the guys break down the math of NBA dominanceand why the New York Knicks (currently 35-20) might be facing a historical uphill battle after a tough loss to the Pacers. We debate whether the league's current parity has finally broken the old rules of "elite" status, or if we're just making excuses for the mediocrity of the East.
Saying yes to out of the box ideas can lead to incredible places. Alex Honnold's live solo of the Taipei 101 tower seemed to spring out of nowhere, but it was the culmination of more than a decade of effort to make the moment happen.
