Then inadvertently wake an Ettin as Li'High communicates from the cliff that she wants K'thriss to join her. He tries to talk her down when another voice declares ownership of Li'High, and she disappears. The heroes do their best to track her to no avail. They decide to return and bury the corpse of Boros. Back at the caravan, Gunner notices one of the cultists recognizes him, and then points to a bracelet that a child has. Seemingly trying to start a problem, the cultists were let down as the heroes politely reclaim the bracelet and pay the travelers for it. That night, the cultists try to kill the party, but K'thriss informs on them, and the heroes overcome them. This does, however, create a problem. If they are known to be in the caravan still, the cultists might continue assassination attempts, alternatively, it also may blow up K'thriss' position. They decide to stay out of the caravan and follow to Witdel. Now at the town, a new hero joins the caravan, a Kagonesti paladin, a female gnome, and a male human with red tattoos he seems to be covering up on his head. This human joins the cultists caravan, and the gnome Jamna Gleamsilver offers to work with the heroes and the new Paladin, then a dead cultist body is found and the caravan, now under way to the next destination, is once again, in an upheaval. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! For our fourth Parleys at the Platter special, I invited Lauren Walsh, Mandi Quin, Britt Anderson, Katherine, and Hank "DnDoodles" to discuss the fundamental elements that make D&D work: Art & Creativity! From the little brown books to the explosion of digital media, the world of art and creativity surrounding D&D continues to grow and expand over these last 50 years. How are we inspired? How can we continue to explore? And what are the technological challenges and ideological pitfalls must we confront like the Tomb of Horrors? Welcome to Dungeon Mastering 101, my Dungeon Mastering course based on over 30 years of experience. In this series I will share my failures and successes and the lessons learned along the way. In this episode, I will cover Tools & Techniques. Freeing your attention so you can focus on the players. https://youtube.com/live/1qubh7qpd-M Show Notes Intro Welcome to another DragonLance Saga, Dungeon Mastering 101 episode! It is Palast, Frostkolt the 22nd, my name is Adam, and today I am continuing my Dragonlance Gaming series all about Dungeon Mastering. Today we are going to discuss freeing your attention so you can focus on the players in this Tools & Techniques episode. Don't forget to like and subscribe to this channel, ring the bell, and you can support this channel by becoming a Patron on Patreon, a Member of this YouTube channel, and you can pick up Dragonlance media, using my affiliate links in the description below. Discussion Core Idea: Tools Exist to Reduce Cognitive Load Every tool you use as a Dungeon Master should serve one purpose: freeing your attention so you can focus on the players. Tools are not there to make the game more complex or impressive. They exist to help you: think less decide faster react more clearly If a tool pulls your attention away from the table, it is not helping you. Principle 1 — Simplicity Beats Cleverness The best tools are easy to remember and fast to apply. Complex systems increase hesitation and slow momentum. A tool that works most of the time is better than one that works perfectly but rarely gets used. Your brain is already busy. Choose tools that respect that reality. Principle 2 — Tools Support Judgment, They Don't Replace It No checklist can replace awareness of table energy. Tools give you structure; you provide discernment. Use tools as scaffolding, not autopilot. A good DM knows when to follow a tool — and when to ignore it. Principle 3 — Momentum Is the Highest Priority Any technique that halts play for long explanations or searching is costing you engagement. Fast rulings, even imperfect ones, maintain immersion. Tools should help you keep the game moving forward. Flow matters more than precision. Principle 4 — Reusability Over Novelty Favor techniques you can use in: combat social scenes exploration downtime Reusable tools reduce prep time and increase confidence. If you can apply it everywhere, it belongs in your toolkit. Core DM Tools & Techniques The 40 / 30 / 30 Prep Rule 40%: situations and conflicts 30%: NPCs, locations, and factions 30%: flexible space for improvisation Prep for possibility, not control. The Encounter Skeleton Every encounter should have: an objective a hook escalating tension a clear exit This structure works for any type of scene. The “Yes, But…” Technique Encourages creativity without removing consequences. Keeps player agency intact. Prevents dead ends. “Yes” keeps the game alive. “But” keeps it interesting. The Three-Question Improv Tool When unsure, ask: What is the most likely outcome? What is the most interesting outcome? What is the most character-driven outcome? Choose based on the needs of the moment. The Spotlight Tracker (Mental or Physical) Notice who has spoken recently. Actively bring quieter players into scenes. Gently limit over-dominant voices. Balance creates trust. The Reincorporation Rule If players fixate on something, bring it back later. It creates the illusion of deep planning. It rewards curiosity. Interest is a signal. Follow it. Principle 5 — Tools for Managing Table Energy Adjust tone, pacing, or stakes when energy dips. Call breaks before burnout sets in. Change scene type to reset attention. A skilled DM manages people first, mechanics second. Principle 6 — Tools Should Be Invisible to Players The best techniques feel natural at the table. Avoid explaining your process mid-session. Let players experience outcomes, not mechanics. Immersion increases when the tools stay behind the screen. Summary Takeaway Tools and techniques are not about mastery — they are about support. They help you: stay present make faster decisions preserve momentum share the spotlight reduce stress When used well, tools disappear, and what remains is a smooth, engaging, human experience. That is the goal of Dungeon Mastering 101. Outro And that's it for this episode of Dungeon Mastering 101, Tools & Techniques! Do you have any tools and techniques you would like to share? Do using external tools take too much time at your table? Feel free to email me at info@dlsaga.com or leave a comment below. Thank you for tuning in. The Finnish Foundation for Economic Education awarded a student, Aase Timonen, roughly $30,000 to fund her doctoral research into “transmedia worldbuilding in massive game franchises,” using the Warhammer franchise as her focus. Her research, conducted at the Game Research Lab at Tampere University, will examine how the broad spread of media (miniatures, novels, rules, etc.) has shaped Warhammer’s development, its shift toward competitive play, and its increasing canonicity. The classic 1984 Toon TTRPG is returning with a new 2nd Edition from Steve Jackson Games, slated for a Backerkit crowdfunding launch on December 17, 2025. Game designer Steve Jackson explains that the update, conceived at least four years prior, is being done because he likes the game and felt it was due. Key changes in the new edition include the simplification of character creation, the introduction of mnemonics, and a dramatic streamlining of the “Fall Down” mechanic to be based on missing three actions instead of three calendar minutes, eliminating clock-watching. The new edition will feature new art by Kyle Miller, all in color, and will be available in both hard and softcover. Draw Steel: Crack the Sun is a crowdfunder by MCDM Productions, which has successfully raised over $1.8 million. The campaign aims to determine the future of the Draw Steel product line and includes seven new products for 2026. These include Encounters, a 350-page third core rulebook filled with pre-made scenarios, NPCs, and skill tests; Between Sun and Shadow, a dedicated ancestry book adding eight new playable species like Goblins and Shadow Elves; and The Beastheart, a new class with four subclasses and fourteen animal companions. The main product is Crack the Sun, the first official epic campaign for Draw Steel, which is a mega-adventure in five acts for 3rd through 8th level heroes, along with three other new shorter adventures including the high-octane anti-hero adventure, The Condemned. The Temeraire RPG from Magpie Games is set to launch its crowdfunding campaign in “early 2026.” The role-playing game is based on Naomi Novik’s Temeraire alternate history fantasy series, which reimagines the Napoleonic Wars with an air force of sentient dragons and their human aviators. The game will focus on the dynamic between the dragon and its rider, incorporating elements of epic military battles, logistics, and supply lines, as well as “Regency era romance,” allowing players to take to the skies as both dragon and aviator while navigating the balance of duty and desire. The book series consists of nine novels, starting with His Majesty's Dragon. #warhammer #toonrpg #drawsteel #Temeraire Toon RPG Second Edition: https://www.backerkit.com/c/projects/steve-jackson-games/toon-the-cartoon-roleplaying-game Crack the Sun on Backerit: https://www.backerkit.com/c/projects/mcdm-productions/draw-steel-crack-the-sun Fallout RPG Sale: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/ja/product/366742/fallout-the-roleplaying-game-core-rulebook-pdf?affiliate_id=2081746 Free Guild Ball Starter Set: https://steamforged.com/products/guild-ball-starter-kit Warmachine on MyMiniFactory: https://mmf.io/upturned Mantic Companion App: https://companion.manticgames.com/ Use our Referral code: MCTXEE Support us by Shopping at Miniature Market (afilliate link): https://miniature-market.sjv.io/K0yj7n Support Us by Shopping on DTRPG (afilliate link): https://www.drivethrurpg.com?affiliate_id=2081746 Matt’s DriveThruRPG Publications: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?author=Matthew%20Robinson https://substack.com/@matthewrobinson3 Chris on social media: https://hyvemynd.itch.io/ Jeremy's Links: http://www.abusecartoons.com/ http://www.rcharvey.com Support Us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/upturnedtable Give us a tip on our livestream: https://streamlabs.com/upturnedtabletop/tip Donate or give us a tip on Paypal: https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/2754JZFW2QZU4 Intro song is “Chips” by KokoroNoMe https://kokoronome.bandcamp.com/

In today's Daily Fix:Larian boss Swen Vincke confirmed some details about their upcoming game, Divinity. While the announcement trailer was decidedly not kid-friendly, the game's tone will be similar to Larian's hit RPG, Baldur's Gate 3, and it will be turn-based, too. Fans can also expect the game to hit early access, just like BG3. In other news, dataminers have unearthed about 30 more minutes of unused dialogue from Metroid Prime 4's NPCs. This basically confirms that the divisive NPCs were chattier than what's in the final game, but there's always a chance that DLC could unlock that content. And finally, Prime Video's Fallout Season 2 will be available a full day than originally announced. The first episode goes live tonight at 6pm Pacific.
In today's Update Journal, we unpack the 48-hour period where being a Mets fan felt like getting hit by a city bus, backed over by an MTA supervisor, and then charged an extra fare because you “didn't tap.” Edwin Díaz packed his trumpets for Hollywood, Pete Alonso sailed off to Baltimore like he's auditioning for a reboot of The Wire, and In-N-Out removed “67” from the menu for reasons no living human understands. Meanwhile, holiday shoppers continue their annual tradition of forgetting other people exist, walking through Target like NPCs trying to glitch through walls. Buckle up — it's a wild one.In the headlines on #TheUpdate this Thursday, Brad Lander, the chief fiscal officer of New York City, announced that he is challenging U.S. Rep Dan Goldman in a Democratic primary for a liberal district covering lower Manhattan and parts of brownstone Brooklyn.“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” actress who was struck and killed by a taxi while crossing a Midtown street was a Customs and Border Protection officer who had been looking forward to retiring — and was cherished for her warm greetings, her devastated neighbors say.And out in the American West, tens of thousands of residents in western Washington could face evacuation orders when another round of heavy rain drops on the region, threatening to bring catastrophic flooding as rivers near historic levels.

This human joins the cultists caravan, and the gnome Jamna Gleamsilver offers to work with the heroes and the new Paladin, then a dead cultist body is found and the caravan, now under way to the next destination, it once again, in an upheaval. The NPCs - Video Game Commentary, Video Game News, And More!
Welcome to the long-awaited return of The NPCs, where we're back to discuss video game news, video game insights, provide commentary, and oh so much more.In our absence, a lot of things have happened in the video game universe: Roguelike's have taken over the Steam charts, Elden Ring got a multiplayer game, Fortnite still exists, and we still don't have Grand Theft Auto 6…But one thing has been on our minds for at least half of the year: have we finally reached the end of the console wars? Microsoft has doubled down on a marketing campaign where “Everything is an Xbox,” making it so phones, TVs, even your smart fridge can play Xbox games without needing an Xbox at all. In tandem, we also saw bridges built with core first-party titles like Forza, Gears of War, and even Halo showing up on the PlayStation 5. With the possibility of Nintendo also receiving similar treatment, has Microsoft finally bowed out of the console race? Do we even need consoles anymore given more of a transition to PC-based architecture? Let's talk about it in our great return episode: The Console Wars Concludes…Intro: Run by J+1Post-Break Intro: Getaway by J+1Outro: Haunt by J+1
Send in your music story!A birthday crown, a Charizard Loungefly, and a brand‑new Switch 2 set the stage for a wild ride through shiny hunts, DLC megas, and the strange magic of pacing a game you love. We get honest about Pokemon Legends ZA: the fun of guaranteed shinies, the feel of the world, and why the journey beats the postgame grind. Then the bombshells: DLC teases with Mega Chimecho, Mega Basculegion‑style reveals, Lucario Z, and a level cap blasting past 100 for the first time in 30 years. It's a shake‑up built for highlights, not homework, and we break down why that works.Life doesn't pause for play. We map out screen‑time rules for a toddler—TV as background, no iPad babysitting—and how handheld sessions fit into family evenings. The conversation spills into “What Grinds My Beans,” our running segment on everyday chaos: tapping gift cards like chips, slapping terminals instead of holding a card still, and the art of ordering without treating baristas like NPCs. It's funny because it's true, and it's useful because five seconds of patience can save everyone five minutes of hassle. Then we tackle the Black Friday saga: waking up at 4:30 AM for a hyped “first 100” Target bag only to discover tickets were quietly handed out hours earlier. What counts as a fair promotion, and what does a brand owe the people who show up in the cold? Sprinkle in some adulting—brake rotors, oil change myths, and the difference between a maintenance reminder and a warning light—and we land on a theme that ties it all together: plan well, play smart, and fight for transparency.Big news: we're launching two new shows. The Dark Side of Music with Danny Otto digs into true crime across music history—Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, Tupac, the 27 Club, and beyond. Off The Record brings loose, in‑person conversations, games, and the kind of banter that made you hit play today. If you've missed our chaotic energy, you'll love where we're headed next.If you enjoyed this one, follow and share with a friend who loves Pokemon, barista rants, or retail war stories. In this episode, we look at a series of recent arrests tied to online posts, comparing Britain's policing culture and firearms laws with American norms and examining how “feeling threatened” has become a legal standard. We discuss Alaska's new AI-driven digital identity system and the fears surrounding automated benefits, digital currency, and government control. We highlight the week's “foolishness” involving a racist outburst at a Cinnabon, and then turn to market news as Bitcoin drops and DJT stock continues to collapse. Our main topic explores whether AI can ever be sentient, what genuine inquisitiveness looks like, how people project humanity onto algorithms, and why the real risks stem from human psychology rather than runaway machines. We close with a discussion of how AI affects relationships, personal responsibility, and why students shouldn't rely on it to think for them. 00:00 Introduction and Overview 01:01 British Man Arrested Over Social Media Post 02:46 Police Overreach and “Feelings as Law” 05:14 Global Jurisdiction and Ridiculous Laws 06:51 Alaska's AI-Driven Digital Identity System 07:35 AI Applying for Benefits on Your Behalf 09:17 Digital Currency and Government Control Fears 12:11 Foolishness of the Week: The Cinnabon Racism Incident 13:22 Why Do Racists Get GoFundMes? 14:30 Bitcoin's Drop and the DJT Stock Collapse 19:36 Can AI Become Sentient? 22:05 The Inquisitiveness Test for Consciousness 26:31 Will AI Replace Human Relationships? 30:30 What Long-Term Interaction Reveals About AI 36:46 Asking AI About Sentience 40:00 Real Risks: Errors, Psychology, and Human Behavior 43:15 AI as a Mirror of Human Behavior 45:02 Practical and Realistic Uses of AI 50:18 Why Students Shouldn't Rely on AI for Schoolwork 53:40 Drug-fueled Observations on Human Behavior Learn more about your ad choices. Welcome to Dungeon Mastering 101, my Dungeon Mastering course based on over 30 years of experience. In this series I will share my failures and successes and the lessons learned along the way. In this episode, I will cover The DM Mindset. This is the foundational philosophy every great dungeon master needs. https://youtube.com/live/FWxWs7Cxmq4 Show Notes Intro Welcome to another DragonLance Saga, Dungeon Mastering 101 episode! It is Palast, Frostkolt the 8th, my name is Adam, and today I am continuing my Dragonlance Gaming series all about Dungeon Mastering. Today we are going to discuss the foundational philosophy of the dungeon master in this The DM Mindset episode. Don't forget to like and subscribe to this channel, ring the bell, and you can support this channel by becoming a Patron on Patreon, a Member of this YouTube channel, and you can pick up Dragonlance media, using my affiliate links in the description below. Discussion Core Idea: A Dungeon Master's First Job Is Understanding People Before rules, before worldbuilding, before prep — the DM's responsibility begins with recognizing the humanity at the table. Every player brings different backgrounds, expectations, and motivations. Differences are not obstacles — they are fuel for the game. A DM's mindset should start with celebration, not control. Principle 1 — Personal Responsibility You are responsible for the tone and environment of the table. Players follow your emotional lead: calm → calm, stressed → stressed. You control what you can: pacing, clarity, fairness, and your reactions. You do not control players — you facilitate them. Principle 2 — Perspective Awareness No group is a monolith. Every player experiences the game differently. Avoid assuming that what engages you engages them. Effective DMing means recognizing: Roleplay comfort levels Tactical interest Social dynamics Individual limits and preferences Adapt your approach to the humans, not to the rules. Principle 3 — The Table as a Shared Space You aren't performing for the players; you are collaborating with them. The world exists because everyone agrees to hold it up together. Your players are not obstacles to your story — they are the engines of it. A DM's mindset should always prioritize the shared experience over personal plans. Principle 4 — Intent Over Perfection Great DMing is not about flawless preparation. It is about intention, empathy, and flexibility. The table will forgive mistakes if they trust your intent. Confidence is not knowing the perfect rule; it's being steady when you make a ruling. Principle 5 — Curiosity & Humility Ask questions. Learn what excites your players. Let players surprise you — that's where the best stories come from. You are not the sole creative force at the table; you're a conductor of many. Principle 6 — Emotional Regulation Is a DM Skill Your energy sets the emotional climate. When things get chaotic, you become the stabilizing force. When momentum lags, you initiate a spark. A professional DM mindset includes managing your own reactions and reading the room. Principle 7 — Trust > Control The goal is not to make players follow your plan. The goal is to build trust so that the players feel safe making bold decisions. Trust leads to engagement. Engagement leads to story. Story leads to the unforgettable moments everyone comes for. Principle 8 — The Mindset Before the Mechanics Rules can be learned. Encounters can be built. NPCs can be improvised. But none of it matters if the mindset is wrong. DMing begins with the understanding that you are not building a game — you are building an experience. Summary Takeaway A Dungeon Master is: A facilitator A stabilizer A narrator A collaborator A student of human behavior The DM Mindset is the foundation on which every technique rests. Once this mindset is established, everything else becomes easier — prep, improv, worldbuilding, encounters, and rulings all flow naturally from it. My podcast's come alive. Welcome back to the podcast! Today, we're going to be talking about Hades II, the sequel to one of the most popular roguelikes of all time and the first sequel that Supergiant Games has ever made. And I for one am happy about that because I needed an excuse to play hundreds more hours of Hades. Hades II is very much a game that can be described as “the first game, but more” which could be a good or a bad thing depending on what you're looking for, but what's surprising is just how much more it actually includes. With two full routes to take and a suite of new weapons and gods, it has a ton of things to try and do mechanically, but also just enormous volumes of dialogue and numerous NPCs, making it feel like you'll never run out of new things to see. We're going to be talking about our favorite weapons and builds, the unique narrative position this game put itself in, and we talk about what kind of menacing grandpa Chronos is. Thank you for joining us again this week! This is one of those episodes that I felt I was slightly overprepared for, so we ended up going deeper into some subjects than we normally do but then also skipping over some stuff that a newer player would probably be thinking about. Let us know if this spoke to literally any part of your experience with the game by leaving a comment or over on our Discord! Next time, we're going to be talking about Everhood, so we hope you'll join us then.

Shortly thereafter, a Niedar dwarf named Francis offers to buy the bracelet and the heroes become very suspicious, interrogating and taunting him. He ends up leaving and approaches Gunner offering to buy it one last time, and when rejected, he moves on. Later that day a mysterious fire is started as Boros quickly puts it out. The heroes begin to grow suspicious, as if there is a connection between the dwarf, the cultists and the fire. The next morning Gunner discovers his bracelet missing, and they immediately grow suspicious that it must be the dwarf. They make a plan to confront him, but instead, Li'High reveals she took one of the parcels that fell out of the crashed caravan a week back and opening it reveals a necklace. They offer it to the dwarf, but he is not trusting of the heroes after the way they treated him, and increasingly as they continue to pester him. Li'High leaves into the wilderness by herself and renounces her god Habbakuk, desiring to worship Chemosh, but not knowing how to make the connection with the new god while she is on the road, and inadvertently is connected by Morgion. She rebukes him, and they all continue to a roadhouse where they eat. Some local adventurers are hired to guard their old wagon in the caravan. They search some of the wagons and mark the cultist wagons for future reference, then they continue on for a few days ending up in a brutally cold rainstorm. They arrive at another road house only to be turned away, and the hired adventurers refuse to help. Li'High breaks into the upper level and is contacted by Morgion again, and this time accepts. He creates a half-cask of diseased ale which is unable to be refused. Upon touching it, she contracts the fatal disease but is protected as an agent of Morgion. She murders the people in the inn, then sets it on fire. While it’s burning she steals food from the inn, tossing it to Boros who contracts the same disease and dies with his friends watching, too afraid to approach and help him, believing they were helpless. Li'High flees into the wilderness, consumed by sorrow and an unwilling agent of Morgion. Dr. K talks about what it really means to “have no personality” and why so many people feel like NPCs in their own life. He explains that a lot of people who say this aren't clinically depressed or totally isolated, but feel like life is just a series of side quests with no main quest, no clear sense of who they are, and no strong preferences of their own. He breaks down three big patterns he sees in these people: living by “what's right” instead of what they actually want, being extremely risk averse, and constantly chasing identity through groups and labels. From goths to gamers to political identities, he shows how over-identifying with a group can become a mask that blocks you from discovering your real self. He also defines personality in a concrete way: how you interpret situations, how you feel inside, and how you behave in response. Using examples from his practice and his own life, Dr. K talks about cultural conditioning (especially in immigrant and Asian families), the pressure to maximize your advantages, and how suppressing desire leads to a flat, “empty” existence. He then lays out what actually helps: noticing how comfort, efficiency, and fear shape your choices, allowing yourself to do things that aren't perfectly “optimal,” taking meaningful risks, and stretching your capacities instead of always staying where you're safe and competent. Over time, those choices are how you actually build a personality. Topics include:Feeling like an NPC, side quests without a main questThe trap of always doing the “right” or efficient thingComfort and risk aversion as personality killersIdentity vs identification (goth, gamer, trad wife, politics, etc.)How family expectations and culture suppress desireWhat personality really is: perception, internal reaction, behaviorWhy you fantasize about disaster forcing you to “prove yourself”Noticing your mental rulebook and changing itStretching your competence instead of “smurfing” through life HG Coaching : https://bit.ly/46bIkdo Dr. K's Guide to Mental Health: https://bit.ly/44z3Szt HG Memberships : https://bit.ly/3TNoMVf Products & Services : https://bit.ly/44kz7x0 HealthyGamer.GG: https://bit.ly/3ZOopgQ Learn more about your ad choices. Welcome back to Cult Season, where we continue our sincere attempt to make you feel a little bit worse about the world and everything in it.This week, we turn to Stefan Molyneux, online pioneer, prolific content creator, and self-proclaimed most popular philosopher in the world. Alternatively his wikipedia entry describes him as "an Irish-born Canadian white nationalist podcaster and proponent of conspiracy theories, white supremacy, scientific racism, and the men's rights movement." Charming...One thing is for sure: Molyneux is the only man alive who can turn literally any question into a monologue that combines demonic liberals, cutting off friends and family, and female reproductive choices. A true Renaissance man for people who hate Renaissance values. In this first episode we take a brief tour through the Molyneux Expanded Universe™, which includes some infamous clips from his early days as the creator of an online 'philosophy' cult themed around anti-spanking, anarcho-capitalism, and misogyny. We also cover his pivot to MAGA apologetics and overt white nationalism and finally to late-stage Molyneux, where he now lurks in Twitter Spaces, berating callers and insisting the world is populated by demon-ridden NPCs gleefully urinating on their moral superiors.Look forward to learning about his extensive rhetorical techniques, which include thin-skinned narcissism, a penchant for violent metaphors usually featuring urine and anal torture, his constant demand that listeners cut off their families and, of course, his favourite claim: that anyone who disagrees with him is a man-whore NPC who wants to kill you. Also featuring:A Weinstein cameo (because of course)Chris recounting the proto–Decoding the Gurus origin story involving a Facebook post and some early Molyneux contentAnd a rare chance to hear Matt physically wince at a Rocky Horror cold openIf you've ever wanted to hear a preening narcissist berate his listener for raising entirely reasonable points... well, this is the episode for you.Scott Adams should be careful, a new contender has emerged for his crown...Part 2 coming soon, assuming we survive this one.LinksFreedomain Radio 6162: The Most Frightening Fact! If you can't find something to enjoy in this movie, I have to question whether or not you have a soul. The movie is to video games what Toy Story is to toys. We watch Ralph struggle in his role as a bad guy when he isn't really a "bad" guy, and when he sets out to prove it to the NPCs in his game, the world of Fix It Felix Jr comes crashing down. Add in an adorable sidekick, a badass heroine, and more video game easter eggs than you can count, and you have one hell of a movie.Pending RTG Hall of Famer Mark McCue is my guest this week and we praised the piss out of this movie. Laughing at our favourite scenes, pointing out the best cameos (and speculating on what it cost to get Bowser to appear)...this was just a really fun episode. No rage, no arguing, just two man-children geeking out about a movie for kids. And before we wreck it, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks if Sega could take Nintendo down today if they were still in the console market? Are game consoles a good investment by the cost of entertainment today? And Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat?Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! In this mind-expanding conversation with personal empowerment mentor and shamanic dreaming arts teacher Joel Schafer, we dive deep into the Toltec wisdom that redefines what it means to awaken and reclaim our power in a world full of distraction and distortion. Joel shares how ancient shamanic practices, rooted in not doing, recapitulation, and dreaming arts, help us recover the energy and attention lost to modern chaos. We explore how slowing down time, grounding in nature, and dissolving self-importance open portals to heightened perception, intuitive awareness, and true freedom.Joel also sheds light on how unseen forces manipulate our attention through fear and drama, and how to become “unpalatable” to energetic harvesting by mastering presence and sovereignty. We unpack his experiences with cult dynamics, shadow teachers, and the seduction of power—lessons that reveal how even spiritual seekers can lose their way without self-honesty and humor. From lucid dreaming and parallel lives to the pitfalls of false enlightenment, Joel offers a grounded yet mystical roadmap for living impeccably—one rooted in trust, silence, and direct experience rather than ideology. If you've ever wondered how to truly unbind from the collective trance and remember who you are beneath the programming, this episode will leave you rethinking time, power, and the very nature of reality itself.DISCLAIMER: This podcast is for educational purposes only and not intended for diagnosing or treating illnesses. It's hard for young tech workers to find a job, even with the AI buildout bonanza. This has spawned a curious worldview that fears AI is coming for our jobs and a drive to be at the top of the AI food chain. This, tech writer Jasmine Sun believes, is revealed in the emerging dialect of Silicon Valley tech workers. Today on the show, San Francisco slang. Jasmine Sun takes us on a tour of high-agency 996ers and NPCs to see what it could mean for our present and our future.Related episodes: No AI data centers in my backyard! How much is AI actually affecting the workforce? For sponsor-free episodes of The Indicator from Planet Money, subscribe to Planet Money+ via Apple Podcasts or at plus.npr.org.
