As a nation, we are not eating enough of this food type. When you start to eat it regularly, you see some huge benefits including no more cravings.
Right now, our outlets for stress and ways to enjoy ourselves has decreased dramatically. No group sports, shows, movies, friends or even seeing your close family is on the cards ay the moment. As a result food can and has easily become our source of joy, comfort, sense of calm, and a temporary distraction from the stressors of our world. Eating feels good. But why do we love JUNK food? When we eat or even just THINK about food, our brain releases dopamine, our desire chemical, and endorphins, feel-good chemicals. So when we eat chocolate or high sugar refined food, there is an increase in these feel-good hormones which are why you want to eat more of this same food. When you eat a piece of cooked chicken breast, you don't get the same feel-good hormones being released hence you are NOT so bothered about eating these foods!!! So, how do you overcome Boredom Eating while being in a LOCKDOWN? Here are a couple of suggestions that have helped my clients:
It's January the 4th 2021, most people will start their “diets” today or start exercising like running, jogging etc. 95% of these people will fail to stick to this new habit within the next 2-3 weeks. The reason for failure isn't because they are not motivated, it's because there are too many changes to keep up with. The goals are unrealistic and a lot of change at once can be very stressful. When I was a child, I wanted to know everything and anything, I would drive my poor mother mad with my constant questioning, “but, why?” I was desperate to understand more about people and why they did what they did. My mum, and most of my family, struggled with weight and health issues and I know that I wanted to be different and find another way of living. During my teenage years I was outgoing, fearless and adventurous - yet also desperately insecure. I had outward confidence, but I was constantly telling myself I would never amount to anything. Sadly, my reality became a reflection of this inner dialogue. In my early 20's I embarked on a journey of self-exploration, discovery and development. I read countless self-help books and eventually flew to the US to study at The Optimum Health Institute in San Diego, here I was astounded to see people healing from terminal diseases through diet, a positive mindset and yoga. I was blown away and instantly knew I had found my calling. Since then, I trained to become a fitness trainer a Pilates teacher, a yoga teacher, a life coach, NLP master practitioner and clinical hypnotherapist - and tons of other bits along the way! I know that is a LOT of courses! I did this whilst single-handedly bringing up my young daughter. I'm passionate about my continuous growth and I have learnt so much from training with the likes of Tony Robbins, Louise Hay, Michael Bernard Beckwith, Bob Proctor, Wayne Dyer and Andy Harrington.
