Chandler Walker is an entrepreneur who creates sustainable growth using a holistic marketing approach. A self-proclaimed care hacker. Chandler shares his actionable tips and techniques to achieve set goals as a care hacker, someone who can deeply make a connection from problems to solutions.Chandler grew up with a mother who suffered from bipolar disorder. Early on he learned how to talk to people in a neutral way. He wanted to put himself in an environment where he could provide care to people and help because someone like his mother didn't find out that she could actually get help until he was in his twenties. The problem was, as he started med school, he realized that it wasn't focused on preventative care or no kind of holistic care. For him, it was about opening a book, figuring out what medication to give someone, and sending them on their way. Chandler then decided to open his first brick-and-mortar. He had some inspiration from his father as an entrepreneur. His father taught him at a young age that it was possible to build as well as to grow something.Throughout his business and life journey, he understands greatly that if you take care of people, they'll look back and take care of you. Chandler believes at the end of the day; people are going to forget everything that you do for them. They're going to forget the things you teach them, but they will never forget how you make them feel. He learned this throughout his life. Through communication on a personal level, and in business, when you make your staff, employees, and your customers happy, along with making them feel different from anyone else, you'll gain someone who will follow you for life. He goes on to say that if your focus is achieving a level five listening concept with everybody that you interact with, and they really feel that you care. You have meaningful conversations, listen and understand where they're coming from, and remove your own cognitive bias. People start to respect you and they really want to be a part of what you're doing and be part of your circle. You draw people in. His entire philosophy is based on building that culture of care and helping people recognize that.Chandler teaches people what to do when they have negative thoughts that come up, looking in the mirror and not being happy with who they see. You need to start asking yourself why am I feeling like this, and what can I do to make it better? With a cognitive process of questioning your own thoughts to move you from an emotional perspective into a logical perspective.He helps you to break things down into smaller pieces, to not make it seem too hard or too far or too big to solve. Start setting your own goals. Make it a habit to start journaling about the thoughts that you have throughout the day. Take inventory of what's important in your life.He helps you to self-organize and take each problem piece by piece and move that into a logical environment. This becomes less emotional and makes you recognize what's really going on. He believes this to be extremely important to take things from the internal to the external, and when we do that, we not only have to externalize what we're thinking, we have to process everything. Parenting is hard. It's a full-time job with no breaks, no vacation days, and no pay. And yet, we often treat it as a side gig. We try to squeeze it in between our work obligations and our social lives.Chander Walker built and scaled several businesses (his own + a portfolio of businesses), spoken on stage in the US/Aus/Can/Netherlands, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt. He bought Ethereum at $15 a coin and built a large crypto portfolio. He is an Entrepreneur renowned for his outstanding strategic, technical, and marketing skills, as well as his effectiveness in increasing revenue and brand awareness for a variety of businesses. He provides a breadth of understanding in operations, sales, marketing strategy, company growth, and brand development, as well as nearly ten years of executive and entrepreneurial experience.And he honestly believes that nothing beats being a dad, watching dance recitals, swimming lessons, and seeing the world all over again. His favorite hobbies are Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Snowboarding, Surfing, and swimming lessons with his daughter. Today I talk with Chandler Walker of https://stoneagefuel.com/ (StonageFuel) about how to completely change your life.  They use a method that addresses every aspect of your life from fitness, to finances, so that at the end of the 12 weeks, you've changed. Chandler started StonageFuel after deciding that med school wasn't for him. He had been shadowing a doctor, and he found that they treat suffering instead of preventing it. Chandler wanted to tackle the problem at the root so he set out to create a wellness clinic. During our conversation we talk about what it's like to start a business, and sleep on the couch for the first year or so. We then drift into talking about how to help clients. In Chandler's business they use the method of Pillars of Angular Momentum. These pillars address aspects of people's live including fitness, finance, mental health, spiritual health and more. Today was an insightful conversation because Chandler points out that people do not change unless they get extremely clear with their reason. He often asks people why they want his help. They give him an answer, but then he digs deeper to the real reason.  So often, we give ourselves false reasons to change. We need to be brutally honest with why we are changing before we can ever make that change. Chandler also mentioned how to hire the right people for your business. He explained that it's important to spend time digging down to the person's motivations.  That seems like a pretty good life lesson. 2-Minute Tip : The Stage as War Zone   Think of the stage as a war zone. Not in the sense that the audience is an enemy. The enemy is the way many folks hold back and don’t spend all their energy on stage.   To mix metaphors even further, the stage is that poker hand where you need to go all in./ If you hold chips back — if you hold energy or enthusiasm back — you won’t win. You won’t accomplish your goal.   When you get off stage, you want to be exhausted and drained because you left it all out there.   Post Tip Discussion   One reason I like talking about public speaking is because the content is ever green. By that I mean the strategies for effectively speaking today, are the same ones that will be effective next year. Or that were effective last year.   Define your goal. Tell a story. Do it with enthusiasm. Be bigger on stage than you might be in private conversation. Do it all with authenticity.   As I write this, it is April 2020 and we are in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and shut downs of various sorts. As more people speak via webinars and video conferences, think about how those core principle change.   They don’t.   You still need to:   Define your goal. Tell a story. Do it with enthusiasm. Be bigger on stage than you might be in private conversation. Do it all with authenticity.   This interview is one I recorded a year ago, and it’s just as relevant today. And it will be just as relevant 5 or 10 years from now.   In this conversation with Ken Moscowitz, we talk about the importance of your energy level and how to have to give it your all every time.   We also talk about how just because your story has become boring for you because you tell it all the time, it’s still new to your audience and can be just as powerful and illustrative now as the first time you told it.   And we wade into the discussion about which is more powerful: words or pictures.   Bio   From Ken’s website:   As a father of 5, this man knows how to multitask. 2-Minute Tip: Stay in Your Line   When on stage, there’s pressure to have all the answers — to be the expert. And when we’re talking about the area of our expertise.   What do we do we aren’t the expert though?   There’s a lot of power in saying, “I don’t know. I’ll get back to you.”   Know what you can speak about and know what you shouldn’t speak about. Focus on your lane and the audience will respect you more.   Post Tip Discussion: Meet Chandler Walker   There’s a temptation when we speak to throw more and more information at an audience. We see this manifest in unreadable slides; long, boring talks; and few opportunities for Q&A or other audience interaction. And I get it.   In the corporate world, we are under pressure to cover all the material possible to maximize the value of the audience’s time. Or we may have multiple sponsors for our talk who want to make sure we include all of “their” material.   The problem is when we focus on everything, we focus on nothing. We disregard the fact that the audience needs to take away something. Between the two of them, they have spent years working with gym owners and now they are pursuing a different passion which they call relationship marketing. In this episode we talk about relationships with your clients and how you can leverage these relationships to give them the best experience possible all while also growing your business. Chandler originally started a blog about fitness before even considering starting a gym. After realizing that relationships are the real key to growing your business, Chandler began helping others which brought on the onset of Out of the Cave Media.  Dave on the other hand began his onset into the fitness industry as a personal training. Things were good except for the amount of hours he had to put into his business to make a living.  Soon after Dave learned about CrossFit he became certified and began his CrossFit journey. Dave’s passion for helping others and connecting people together led him to connect with Chandler and help gyms focus on their relationships with their clients. Out of the Cave gives both Dave and Chandler a great platform to enact something they like to call relationship marketing. Relationship marketing is really about building a culture of caring between the business, the coach, and the client. What this really comes down to be own you show yourself to the consumer and to the staff. It is important that this relationship is always mapped out and when they interact with you they feel comfortable.  Having the customer feel as though they are attached to you is important.  Successful gyms always have a story and people love to be around this type of business. Ultimately where everyone struggles is telling a story and getting all of the coaches and employees to be a part of that story. This is where Out of the Cave Media steps in to help tell this story. One of the important aspects of telling your story is getting your team involved. It is important that they also use social media and help tell the story. Despite this, you do not want to force it upon your team. It is important to motivate your team and get them onboard to contribute to the overall plan. If someone really likes making video but hates doing blogging then you should plan accordingly to achieve the best results. Another important aspect is to showcase your local affiliate culture. Although the CrossFit HQ content is nice and well-polished, putting a face with the name and showcasing who you are to potential clients is really important. Telling your story in a unique and identifiable story allows people to recognize you in the community and relate in a much easier way. Another way to leverage relationships without producing any content is putting yourself in situations where you can talk about your business. The more relationships you build and the more relationships you have the more people are going to care about you and what you have to do. This is more about becoming a leader within your community rather than schmoozing people and luring them into your gym. You want to establish relationships around town and see how you can help them first.  When you truly care about someone they will notice and turn to you for help when they need it.   This episode is full of wisdom.
