Is there a difference between being persecuted for espousing Kingdom values and exhibiting Kindom values. Pastor Dan and Clayton take Sunday's culmination of the Beatitudes into the midweek and also take comfort in the fact that Jesus says "Blessed are YOU when..."

As we have been working through Matt 5 we keep hearing about the individual characteristics of Kingdom People. Today Pastor Dan and Clayton discuss how showing up without all your armor can lead to having a lopsided character and how that affects your life as an ambassador of grace.

Matt 5:8 says that the pure of heart will see God. Part of that purity is being able to ask honest questions, forgive others, and seeking forgiveness for yourself. Walking in that freedom of Jesus's kingdom transforms how you see relationships, and your own intentions.

Picking up with last Sundays Beatitude Pastor Dan and Clayton discuss what impact we might have in our community's if we were know for models of mercy instead of models of morality!

Possibly the most important question of all in this Q&A series. Clayton and Pastor Dan tackle the topic of truth. Do we define reality or do we merely live in it? What do Christians have in common with Plato? And why would anyone ever eat a McRib Sandwich?

Is it possible to know your individual purpose? Is there any way to discern why you actually exist? We shared in week one that we have a creator, a designer who cares for us. In week two that we have a destination of hope, and this week that we also have a reason, a purpose for being here. Join Dan and Clayton as they ask maybe the biggest question of all!

Before we tackle the question of purpose we have to pause on the concept of Eternity (question 3/4). We do this because being able to answer what is the end of our actions allows us to answer the purpose of our actions (Why are we here?) Dan and Clayton tackle this topic with an eye on understanding our worldview, sharing our worldview with others, and representing the Kingdom of God as an Ambassador in a foreign land.

Still asking and answering questions this week we cover the question of our origin and how Christianity answers this question in comparison to other worldviews.

Every worldview asks and answers the same four questions. Over the next four weeks we are going to tackle these questions one at a time and this is a perfect time to introduce friends and family to the Provoke Podcast!

We take her first listener question of the series and discuss the nature of God's promises and the challenge of faithfulness.

Reflecting on the previous year and praying into the new one is a solid spiritual discipline that starts each year with a renewed focus on what the Lord is doing. Today we ask and answer: What did you the Lord do last year? What do you hope for in the next? What word do you believe Jesus has for you this season?

Really knowing what has been done for us, through Jesus' life and sacrifice is enough to bring you to your knees. Knowing what is being done in us through Jesus resurrection and ascension is enough to cause us to rejoice! The arrival of a little baby in the manger is just the beginning of the good news of the Gospel, but it is news enough to change your whole outlook.

In this second weekend of Advent we look forward to the power of hope to bring peace as we wait for so many things. Clayton and Dan discuss how surrender to the Holy Spirit, and choosing the feast of hope is a choice available to all and especially close to the believer.

Advent season has begun and even though we just came through Thanksgiving it's time to look forward towards the entrance of Jesus. Robert gave a great message from Isiah about the hills of life and the mountain of the Lord and the "Already but Not Yet" nature of the promises of God. It's always enjoyable to have new voices on the pod and we hope you enjoy this convo as much as we did!

Jesus asked his Father to draw future believers into a Unity that is so amazing it causes spectators to be amazed. Clayton and Dan welcome special guest Robert Russel to the pod as they discuss what the process of being transformed into the likeness of Christ is like AND how they couldn't do it without their amazing spouses!

Who lives with you? Who gives you advice when you need it? What is your relationship like? In this pod Dan and Clayton discuss how the Holy Spirit guides us and encourages us into all truth, and how we can grow more comfortable and familiar with His voice and prompts.

What does it mean to make space for a relationship with a real person (Jesus) in the middle of difficulty and struggle? Knowing Jesus and not just knowing "about" him fundamentally changes where the outcome of your life is headed.

This week Clayton spoke on John 14 where Jesus tells us that we can ask him anything and he will do it (if it glorifies the Father). We also looked at James 4 where we are reminded that asking for things that only glorify us will lead to frustration. The key is to listen to the Holy Spirit, the actual desires and DNA of the Kingdom of God and let it guide us in our requests. How then can we know who we are listening to? #isitfruity

Jesus washes feet, His disciples miss the whole point, and He promises to show them a better way of leadership and service. How is it that a King, all powerful, all knowing, full of justice is also full of a humble love? Todays solo pod explores those questions and provokes us to deeper thought on how we might go and do likewise in our own lives.

Jesus calls us to bring all that we have and to lay it down on the ground. To let our plans for ourselves die so that His plans can spring to life, in our lives, and bear fruit and experiences that bring glory to his name.

The Kingdome is made up of many different types of people. Introverts, extroverts, ambiverts, and who knows what else. God has designed each of us to worship him uniquely and individually but also corporately within orthodoxy. As our hearts grow to welcome more believers into our community so too will our community of faith grow in a richness of worship. While our community may change in size, shape, and appearance what never changes is the personal nature of our Lord and how he takes time to approach each one of us by his spirit.

In John 10 Jesus calls himself the Good Shepherd, as well as the Gate,and says that his sheep know his voice. What does it look like to love the voice of the Shepherd and how should it affect our hearts and passions?

Digging in to John 9 and the story of the “Man Born Blind” we are encouraged by his growing faith while the Pharisees are outraged by his testimony.

Jesus and the Pharisees go toe to toe on the issue of Paternity! Who is your father and how do we know that it's true? Clayton and Dan discuss this provoking encounter and the hard word that Jesus brings to us in this passage from John 8, we also discuss why you don't have to be alone as you work out who's family you want to be a part of!

With a few weeks of in person services under our belt we are back with another Provoke Pod! Recording from the middle of the week Dan and Clayton go back over their thoughts on Psa 34 and how that effects us as we share the Kingdom, engage with friends and family, and live our faith online and in the streets. Today we reflect on two weeks of disappointments and distractions and what it means to find unity in the midst of breakdowns in plans and with equipment. Our fist corporate worship event in months reveals some interesting things in our hearts and how can our faith be bolstered by our remembering the character of God?

Our first Sunday back in the building didn't go as planed, but I know that Jesus was in it and made his presence known!

Robert Russel Trinity's Youth Pastor joins us on the Pod today to discuss the map of repentance that is King David gives us in Psalm 51. We ask questions about why it is so hard to accept grace and free gifts, and what is the one thing you can do to "Earn" salvation in Jesus.

Pastor Dan is worshiping through fishing, Director of Worship Arts, Clayton is trying to worship in the garden... What does your worship look like and what legacy of worship will you leave to declare your love to the next generation.

Psalm 130 reads like a Delta Blues song! A man out in the yard talking about how sorry he is and hopping for forgiveness. However unlike a blues tune we have an assurance in the Lord that the longevity of his goodness will outlast our momentary failings. Sr. Pastor Dan Van Horne and Director of Worship & Arts Clayton Winters discuss our fist Psalm in our Summer Series.

Senior Pastor Dan Van Horne and Elder Andrew Charleston are on the pod today as we examine Habakkuk's challenging conversation with God.  Don't like what you see in the world around you, think God is being slack on the job? Just tell him about it! His response to Habakkuk is not what you would expect but it leads him to a place of worship in the end. 

We are still grappling with Justice as a nation and as a church. How does the culture of the Kingdom of God instruct to to engage in issues like these in our day? How should we then interact with others when Kindness, Justice, and Humility are our guides.

After covering Amos 5 on Sunday Dan and Clayton dive into the topic of equipping to the Church to see the issue of Justice and Equality through the eyes of the Kingdom versus the lens of our culture. Calling for humble repentance and prayer as we seek to bind up the broken and strengthen the helpless.

This week we give a sneak Peak of the conversations and preparations that take place as we aim towards our new series starting this Sunday.

Crossroads Sr. Pastor Tom Kay joins us as we continue our conversation about what it means to be an awe inspiring community of Jesus followers. We take time to contemplate just how big a miracle it is when some one has a heart change for the Lord, and spend a few moments on the goodness of our God in His unfailing pursuit of those he has chosen!

Using the gifts that have been given to you, for the building up of others and the Kingdom, should be a reflection of the love that you have recieved from Jesus, the great gift giver. The experience of walking in "The Most Excellent Way" is one of being stamped with each trait of God's nature as you exercise the gifts you have been given for the benifit of others!

The Gifts that God has given you are not for you keep, they are for you to give away freely to those you are in community with. It is through this that we see the body of believers built up into the likeness of Jesus. So don't keep your gifts all to yourself. Share them with friends!

The full expression of God's nature is seen in part through the gifts that he gives to his church. We all have a part to play in the body of faith and by faithfully using the gifts we have recieved, we help to build up and grow one another.

A body is made of many parts, and each part has is purpose. That purpose is best acomplished when we, using the unique gifts given to us by the Holy Spirit, use them faithfully to encourage and grow others in the likeness of Jesus. As we trust God in this process we too are built up into his likeness.
