God sometimes uses the unlikeliest people and situations to accomplish His purposes. This week, Pastor Jim continues our journey through Judges with a look at the rise of Samson, a judge chosen by God before birth. He was set apart and given great strength. But from the very beginning of his story, Samson proved himself to be unspiritual, disrespectful, and impetuous. He chased pretty foreign women instead of deliverance for his people. And God used Samson's character flaws to spark a one-man war that would devastate the Philistine people. Pastor Jim leaves us with encouragement to obey God willingly, not in spite of ourselves, bringing the sweet honey of God's truth with us everywhere we go.This week, our hosts continue their discussion on the book of Judges, some of the talking points were, the jerks that God uses to fulfill His perfect plan, the lion and the bees, and ways we can grow spiritually. Oh and tune into the beginning to hear our hosts talk about something that a lot of us have been wondering, is TBC still planning on going on their trip to Israel? The wedding feast of Samson painted by Rembrandt: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wedding_Feast_of_Samson#/media/File:Rembrandt_Harmensz._van_Rijn_146.jpgIf you would like to watch the video podcast, find us on YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMhDfGn0zfzi6XjcKkSVcFAFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/discovertbcInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/topekabiblechurchWebsite: https://www.discovertbc.com/
At last, we give you the final episode in our alcohol-fueled quadrilogy. Our wonderful Patron Beastwiththeleast mailed us this book of their own free will. Thoroughly in debt to them and their glorious book packages, we selected this one for review this year especially for our dear Beast. As we are far from being biblical scholars ourselves, we're desperately trying to summon Dan McClellan for an assist here to provide a fact check for our own sanity. In addition to our usual barnyard language, today's episode includes discussion and consumption of alcohol (your hosts are intoxicated after sampling cocktails from the book we reviewed two episodes ago in your timeline, but have yet to record in ours) along with a whole lot of Christianity. TBC is an AI-free production. Audio by Oselka Sound.

Lots more about Midnight from our lovely guests later in the show. Player housing. This new feature is time consuming but a great deal of fun. The creativity of our Guildies is amazing to behold! WoW Classic As Jehdai pointed out, we have our first 70 (Sethos) and light activity on the 20th Anniversary TBC launch on Dreamscythed Horde side. We have the guild available with the guild bank open and invite others to join us in Outland. In other Classic news: Reminder that there are now 3 launchers for Classic (‘Original’, ‘Anniversary’, ‘Era’) “Original” Classic is progressing with Mists of Pandaria. The guild is available on Horde side on Galakras. If I have this right, MoP classic uses the modern guild interface so we have the new interface showing 651 members. “Anniversary” Classic which is now at TBC as mentioned above. “Era” classic is a separate launcher with 3 game modes: ‘Classic Era’ which is forever frozen in the original game (pre-TBC). We were on Mankrik here but really no activity or guild. “Season of Discovery” which is where experiments were performed by the devs which some expect may lead to the anticipated “Classic Plus” many hope for. We have no real activity there currently. “Hardcore” is the 3rd game mode in the Era client and probably our 2nd most active within the classic modes. We have an Alliance side guild on Doomhowl and some activity on the Horde side of Doomhowl but no guild currently. Lars plans to return to his attempt at a “Solo Self-Found” run to 60 in Hardcore but that has been on pause for quite some time. We did have guild members make it to 60 on the hardcore server previously. Ravisant is ProffessorWC or Sethos one of the raid leaders from HoG SWTOR In Swtor this week, we are ready for Update 7.8.1, Master’s Enigma. Gary: Welcome to Search the Scriptures 24/7, a radio ministry of The Berean Call with T.A. McMahon. I'm Gary Carmichael. It's great to have you with us. In today's program, Tom begins a two-part series with guest Larry DeBruyn as they address the topic: What Is Quantum Spirituality? Here's TBC executive director Tom McMahon.Tom: Thanks, Gary. Today and next week, the Lord willing, I'll be in conversation with Larry DeBruyn. Larry and I were speakers at two conferences in South Africa: Cape Town and Pretoria. And that was at the beginning of this year, 2016, and it was an experience neither of us will soon forget. The Lord's grace abounded, and we were blessed and thrilled to experience it.Larry is a former pastor. He heads Guarding His Flock Ministry. He's a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary's Masters Program, and the author of Unshackled: Breaking Away from Seductive Spirituality. He writes articles for a number of biblical discernment websites, including Herescope and The Alliance for Biblical Integrity.
If this is still going on in two or three weeks, lots of countries, including ours, will start to feel the pinch. Brent Crude Futures topped out at $85 a barrel overnight, the highest price since 2024. JP Morgan says it could hit, worst-case, $120. The Iraqis are now pulling back production because of the Hormuz logjam. Refineries in Asia are, according to Bloomberg, thinking about cutting production by 20-30% for the same reason. You've got tankers backing up and unable to port. All this stuff means delays. Our economy is quite dependant on oil and gas. It's a common misconception that we aren't. Because we generate 80% of energy as renewables, or thereabouts, people often think that's the same as use. In fact, about 60% of our energy comes from fossil fuels. Kelly Eckhold from Westpac told me yesterday it's likely petrol prices will go up for us. As of yesterday, he estimated 8 cents a litre at the pump within a week or two. Oil prices are lower by comparison of late but that $100 to $120 barrel JP Morgan scenario is key. That's the point at which our inflation forecasts would have to change. And we know that that means, prices going up. Think about how much of what you do in a day, driving a car, using a plastic pen, powering your business, trucks getting food to supermarkets, uses oil. And once you get those prices going up, you get general prices going up. And then you get the Reserve Bank's back up. And then what? Do consumers pull back spending again? Is this event the hill our recovery dies on? Let's hope not. It's early days. Scenarios are exactly that. A lot of TBC. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
As AI tools like ChatGPT are increasingly capable of analysing financial data, generating reports, and answering complex questions in seconds, many have asked: could AI truly replace a human wealth adviser?Being trusted advisers to our affluent clients for over two decades, this Providend series began with an article by our Client Advisers on clients navigating major life transitions. The podcast goes further, exploring the thoughts behind these transitions. In this podcast episode, Chin Yu and our host, Isaac, explore the challenges of managing a significant inheritance through the case of Nicholas, 35, a regional marketing manager who recently received $3 million following his father's passing. They discuss how inheritance often comes with emotional overload, feelings of guilt, and the pressure to make the “right” financial choices, especially while still grieving and managing the estate.Chin Yu highlights the role of AI tools like ChatGPT, which can provide fast, structured guidance, but stresses that thoughtful wealth planning requires deeper reflection on what a meaningful life, filled with Ikigai-driven decisions, would look like.To better understand the discussion, you may start by reading Chin Yu's article here: Can AI Replace a Human Adviser in Inheritance Planning?Music courtesy of ItsWatR.The host of this episode, Isaac Ong, is a Client Adviser at Providend, the first fee-only wealth advisory firm in Southeast Asia and a leading wealth advisory firm in Asia.Did you know that our Providend's Money Wisdom podcast is now available in video format on YouTube? Gary: Welcome to Search the Scriptures 24/7, a radio ministry of The Berean Call with T.A. McMahon. I'm Gary Carmichael. It's great to have you along. In today's program, Tom wraps up a two-part series with guest Rob Congdon as they address the topic: What's New with Calvinism? Here's TBC executive director Tom McMahon.Tom: Thanks, Gary. My guest for our second part of this series is Robert Congdon. He's the founder of Congdon Ministries International, CMI, and it's a ministry, as we mentioned last week, that has sought to assist local churches, earlier in Great Britain and particularly in the US, but now he's expanded the work to include other countries. And, as I mentioned, a primary focus of CMI is dealing with the defense of dispensationalism, premillennialism, and we talked last week about the importance of biblical hermeneutics – how anyone who reads the Bible and wants to know what God is saying…we have two other terms, “exegesis” and “eisegesis.” Well, eisegesis is when we approach the Scriptures with what we want it to say, or imposing our own ideas on it, whereas exegesis is trying to figure out what God is saying, and that's the heart of CMI. And, Rob, welcome back to Search the Scriptures 24/7.
Season 32 Ep.1 Part 2 TBC by Telatalk.
It's another alcohol-infused episode of TBC. Our long-time Ko-Fi Patron KiwiThing requested this book for 2026, so we were obliged to enter TRELLAND - the mishapen world that bubbled forth from a crucible of literary confusion, where popular video game franchises were melted down with Euopean fairytales and random writing exercises! In addition to our usual barnyard language, today's episode includes discussion and consumption of alcohol (your hosts are intoxicated after sampling cocktails from the book we reviewed last episode in your timeline, but have yet to record in ours). You've heard of feminism, right? ... you wanna' drink it? You may recall us saying that we were a bit tipsy in the first episode of this season and would be for a whole four episodes in service to a later terrible book. Today, you meet that book. In addition to our usual barnyard language, today's episode includes discussion and consumption of alcohol (your hosts are fairly intoxicated after sampling several cocktails from the book). Be forewarned that there's a big ol' vulnerable bummer section where we discuss the death of our family member from 1:54 - 12:49 before the episode properly beings at 12:50. Bookbarella's Amaretto Surprise For the mocktail version, simply omit the Disaronno For a stronger drink, add 1 part of an orange liqueur (e.g. Grand Marnier) 1 part Disaronno 1 part freshly juiced orange (mandarin, clementine, - whatever you have) 1 part freshly juiced lemon 10 pomegranate arils (or however many your heart desires) 1/2 part pomegranate juice 6 oz. As trusted advisers to affluent clients for 25 years this year, our wealth management philosophy of making ikigai decisions before money decisions is grounded in real-world experience managing more than S$1.7 billion of our clients' hard-earned assets. In this week's Money Wisdom episode, we continue our 'The Brain Behind' series, where our new co-host and Associate Adviser, Sudhan, speaks with our CEO, Christopher, about his latest Business Times article, 'Thriving in a Messy World: Why the Philosophy of Sufficiency Matters More Than Ever.'In this conversation, Christopher explains why the Philosophy of Sufficiency is even more relevant in today's world of constant comparison and noise. They discuss conventional definitions of success, from the old “5Cs” mindset to modern ideas of wealth accumulation and defining success on one's own terms. In an uncertain world, this conversation challenges how we think about sufficiency, contentment, ambition, and what truly matters in wealth planning, including the quiet balance between chasing maximum returns and sleeping peacefully at night. To gain more perspective on today's conversation, you may begin by reading Christopher's Business Times article here: https://providend.com/thriving-in-a-messy-world-philosophy-of-sufficiency/If you would like an honest second opinion on your current investment portfolio and wealth plan, make an appointment with us today. A runner for his hometown Lions from Ellendale, North Dakota, Theo Thurber was a 2024 NCCAA Division II Men's Cross Country All-American, finishing ninth at the event in the 8K. Thurber is a two-time NCCAA Division II Men's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week Award winner, and earned the 2025 Elvin and Joyce King Award for Division II Men's Cross Country. Thurber had a unique path to college athletics, as he did not compete for the Lions his freshman year. Instead, Thurber dedicated his time to missions at home and abroad, serving in the United States on the Pine Ridge Reservation and across several states, while spending his second semester in India, Turkey, and Greece. He also spent this past summer as a pastoral intern in Paynesville, Minnesota, and plans to study in Israel this Spring. In this episode, Thurber talks about running for his mom and with his wife at TBC, his time overseas, and how he shares his faith on the course and abroad.

In a recent episode of Oprah’s podcast, Oprah tackled the rise of “going no contact” where adult children cut ties with parents or family. Is it destroying families, or is an act of ultimate self preservation and protecting your mental health? We speak about: The conversation around emotional safety, mental health and boundaries has changed What was once taboo (cutting ties with parents) is now being discussed openly — especially by our generations There doesn’t seem to be a line in the sand for what is and what is not ‘valid’ for going no contact Why family are the only people we are ‘willing’ to accept bad behaviour from Have we gone too far with ‘boundary’ talk/ don’t have enough grace for our parents? The BMW Australian PGA starts today at Royal Queensland and we sat down with the Australian PGA CEO Gavin Kirkman for a chat about the tournament and what he is working on currently to grow golf.We had to start with an update. Brisbane has been hit by some quite severe storms last week, and as recently as Monday this week, was the course damaged, and have the storms caused any issues with, or changes to, the structure of the tournament? Gavin gives us the latest information and looked at everything having just walked the course prior to our conversation.Nick and Mark are impressed with the calibre not only of the Australian and New Zealand players, but of the International contingent who have come to Brisbane for the event, and ask Gavin whether he feels there is further plans for co-sanctioning with the DPWT, following the excellent work with the Hotel Planner Tour. Gavin reveals that the DPWT CEO Guy Kinnings is travelling to Australia for the event, and then heading to Melbourne for talks about working more closely with the Australian PGA....that is great news. After the turn, we discuss Tuesday nights PGA awards in Brisbane, and the announcement of Minjee Lee as the Greg Norman medal recipient for the 4th time. Well deserved, in a tough field.Nick has spotted on the calendar a new event pencilled in as TBC for March 2026 and asks Gavin outright what it is. The early part of 2026 looks excellent with the Webex series events, and 4 Ladies European co-sanctioned events in Australasia.Mark asks Gavin why the Queensland PGA event last week had a smaller field than usual. Gav explains....it has something to do with cows and curtains. Classic Queensland.....And before we wrap up, Gav tells us about the time he watched Nick O'Hern in a playoff against Peter Lonard at one of Nick's favourite hunting grounds - Coolum.A great chat with the PGA of Australia boss today! Enjoy the tournament over the weekend !We're live from Titleist and FootJoy HQ thanks to our great partners:BMW, luxury and comfort for the 19th hole;Titleist, the #1 ball in golf;FootJoy, the #1 shoe and glove in golf;PING will help you play your best;Golf Clearance Outlet, they beat everyone's prices;Betr, the fastest and easiest betting app in Australia; And watchMynumbers and Southern Golf Club. Gary: Welcome to Search the Scriptures 24/7, a radio ministry of The Berean Call with T. A. McMahon. I'm Gary Carmichael. Thanks for being here! In today's program, Tom begins a two-part series with guest Jim McCarthy. Here's TBC executive director, Tom McMahon.Tom: Thanks, Gary. As Gary mentioned, our topic for today is Calvinism. It's a theology, a belief system, that's had an impact on Christianity for about 500 years, depending who's credited for starting it off. Since the theology is named after John Calvin, and based upon much of his writing, few would argue against starting with him. And of course, he lived from 1509-1564. Our guest, who will discuss the subject, is Jim McCarthy. He's the author of a number of books including John Calvin Goes to Berkeley. His other books include: The Gospel according to Rome, which, in my view - and I've told you this many times, Jim - in my view it's the best book out there for a view on Catholicism from a biblical perspective. And Jim, like myself, grew up in a Roman Catholic family, and, I should add, an extended Catholic family that included aunts who were nuns and uncles who were priests. Now I mention that because Jim's books supply information regarding the experiential side of his former faith, which to me is a major part of the practice of Roman Catholicism. Jim's ministry is Good News for Catholics. He's also very much involved in a discipleship program, primarily for young adult Christians.Jim, welcome to Search the Scriptures 24/7.Jim: Thank you, Tom, it's always good being with you.
Mary welcomes back Berean Call president Rob Yardley to talk about the importance of continuing to learn, pursue curiosity, and add to our knowledge of how the universe works, and how the God of the Bible, the creator of the universe, can cause us to be objective, rational, thinking creatures who can then boldly bring truth into our own sphere of influence. The Berean Call, begun by TA McMahon and Dave Hunt, has an impressive body of apologetics work built up over decades to come alongside believers who want to understand all the variances and downright lies embedded in so much of the Christian culture today. If you want to know the basics of apologetics, there is no better place to start than TBC. We also take a look at some pretty smart men who research Creation Science in the areas of DNA, the flood, and entropy. While some of it is far deeper than many of us might hope to go, we understand from their work that the God we serve is powerful, omniscient, and still has us each in the palm of His hand, worthy of our praise. A fun hour with Rob and the things that he studies and communicates via the gifts God has given him. If you've followed our discussion, the discussion with Ed Newby that I'm going to reintroduce in a minute, but we're dealing with things like the influence of evangelical Christians – or Christians per se – Christendom, because of our affinity for conservatism. And we are conservative, especially in comparison to the liberal ideas and views that are out there. But our concern is how influential are entities, whether they be talk show hosts, columnists, whatever they might be, how are they influencing us with regard to their conservative worldview – political? Social? Even moral, in some cases. How are they influencing those who claim to go by the Bible? And what we've seen, many have an affinity for conservative views to the point of making it part of their religious worldview. And that's not good…from our perspective.Today we're going to address more of the same. Last week, if you'll check out part one, we dealt with things like Glenn Beck and his influence as a conservative – not just talk show host but columnist – and his views and how he has intermixed his religious worldviews, whether it be Mormonism, New Age ideas; we talked about his book with the psychiatrist, and how he presents - and folks, you can check us out on this – his book Seven Wonders That Will Change Your Life, coauthored with psychiatrist Keith Ablow, so you not only have psychobabble there, but you have New Age ideas and concepts, and he specifically lays out what his theology is, even though he tries to play to a wider group of people.Today, however – well, first of all my associate in the studio today is Ed Newby. He's a TBC staff member. He handles most of our correspondence, Q&As; he produces our online updates, and again, he's a researcher and contributor to TBC's newsletter. So, again, Ed, welcome back!Ed: Thanks, Tom.

In today's program, Tom begins a two-part series with guest Ed Newby. Here's TBC executive director, Tom McMahon.Tom: Thanks, Gary. Today and next week, we're going to be discussing the world's influences in the lives of those who profess to be biblical Christians. Our emphasis will be on media influences, such as television, video, radio, books, magazines, and particularly Internet websites. So we want to address the lack of biblical discernment regarding the content of those media outlets, especially those that seem to be “Christian,” or are very conservative. My associate in the studio to discuss this with me is TBC staff member Ed Newby. Ed is our primary question-and-answer correspondent. He produces our online updates, and he's a researcher and contributor to TBC's newsletter.Ed, thanks for taking the long walk from your office to our studio and joining me on Search the Scriptures 24/7.Ed: You're very welcome, Tom, and I think I've even memorized the route that I followed you here!Tom: Yeah! All 100 feet of it, right?
In today's program, Tom wraps up a two-part series with guest Dave James. Here's TBC executive director, Tom McMahon.Tom: Thanks, Gary. Welcome back to part two of dealing with an issue that's been on our hearts and minds, concerns, The Berean Call, that we've had Dave James, author of two books dealing with, first of all, Jonathan Cahn's book The Harbinger, and now his latest book The Mystery of the Shemitah. And Dave James, who I've been having these discussion with, he's, again, the author of The Harbinger: Fact of Fiction? and Biblical Guide to the Shemitah and the Blood Moons. Dave, welcome back to Search the Scriptures 24/7.
Send us a textWelcome back, TOT fans! This week we come to you without Cobalt, who is enjoying some time away, so the other four do their best. We cover all the games, with the major talking points being Spurs big win, Arsenal look good, some great mid table clashes, are West Ham going to survive, how handsome is Scott Parker, and why, oh why, are we still discussing how shit VAR is!?!Then we move onto the game Monday night, next week's clashes including the BIG BIG one Sunday, and a little FPL. Casey then updates the Platinum Pussies on his little phone number escapade with a lady friend. TBC... Thank you for listening. Please like, subscribe, share, download, and as always, we love you!
In today's program, Tom launches a two-part series with guest Dave James. Here's TBC executive director, Tom McMahon.Tom: Thanks, Gary! Today and next week, we're going to be discussing the aftermath of two books that had an impact upon multitudes of Christians, and that impact was not good, to say the least. Both books promoted ideas that greatly distorted what the Scriptures teach, specifically regarding prophecy. And I used the term “aftermath” because the authors of both books engaged in more-than-implied date setting that failed to occur. My guest for our discussion is Dave James, who's the author of The Harbinger: Fact or Fiction? and Biblical Guide to Shemitah and the Blood Moons. Dave, welcome back to Search the Scriptures 24/7.Dave: Thanks, Tom! It's great to be back with you again.
In today's program, Tom concludes a two-part series with guest Greg Durel. Here's TBC executive director Tom McMahon.Tom: Thanks, Gary. Our topic – this is part two – our topic has been Roman Catholicism, and in particular, the pope at this airing is visiting the United States, so we want to address that. In order to do that, I have Greg Durel, a good friend of mine, who's the pastor of Heritage Bible Church in Gretna, Louisiana, and he has a weekday radio ministry that is devoted to educating Catholics in biblical doctrine. As I mentioned last week, like myself, Greg grew up in the Roman Catholic Church, so he knows Catholicism experientially as well as his study of the Catholic Church tradition and its dogmas. So Greg, welcome back to Search the Scriptures 24/7.Greg: Well, thanks for having me, Tom!
Suj and James discuss Chip Strategy with a detailed look at opportunities during the first half of the season to use the Wildcard, Free Hit, Bench Boost and Triple Captain Chips. There's a search for opportunities, caution offered for overplanning for the Bench Boost, circumstances that can make Free Hits appeal to some but not offers. How much weightage should be put into planning for a Bench Boost or should we just hope it falls into place? Two key Wildcard periods covered and there's coverage of an awareness of 'safe weeks' and danger weeks for Chip coverage.
