A high-ranking samurai was also a serious Zen student. Fighting broke out all over Japan and he was wounded in battle; in spite of the pain he galloped to a temple to see the teacher there. A tea ceremony was going on, and the teacher put a cup in front of him, asking, “How are things?” The warrior immediately crushed the cup under his foot and said, “Heaven and earth completely broken up.” The teacher asked, “When heaven and earth are broken up, what's that like?” The warrior stood with his hands crossed over his chest. The teacher hit him, and he involuntarily cried out from the pain of his wounds. The teacher said, “Heaven and earth not quite broken up yet.”Support the show (https://www.paypal.me/apalmr)
In this instalment of his series on the Kingdom of God, Kong Hee teaches about the tension believers live in; the tension of Already and Not Yet. We already have the victory over Satan, but Satan has not yet conceded defeat, so we must put on our spiritual armour daily. Pastor Kong exhorts us to walk by faith, but also to surrender entirely to God's will; half of the heroes of faith listed in Hebrews 11 never received their miracle before death. We must have bold faith, and at we must also submit fully to the will of God, knowing He loves us. We are assured of Christ's love, therefore we must be compelled to build a Church Without Walls and bring the Kingdom of God to the needy and lost. Listen to this message and let your faith arise!
SUMMARY:Our guest on this episode of Songcraft is Rami Yacoub, one of the most influential Swedish songwriters and producers of the last two decades. He joins us in a few moments to talk about his career, from early Britney Spears classics such as “Baby One More Time,” to boy band hits such as One Direction's “What Makes U Beautiful,” to recent smashes such as Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande's double platinum chart topper “Rain on Me.” PART ONE:Scott and Paul chat with Nashville-based songwriter Arlis Albritton (cuts by Jamey Johnson, Luke Bryan, and others) about the upcoming St. Augustine Songwriters Festival, which Arlis founded. PART TWO:The guys pay tribute to a few recently-departed music legends: The Rolling Stones' Charlie Watts, Don Everly, and the great Tom T. Hall, who was a guest on the 67th episode of Songcraft - a conversation that turned out to be his final interview. PART THREE:Our in-depth interview with hitmaker Rami Yacoub. ABOUT RAMI YACOUB:As a songwriter and producer, Rami Yacoub has been involved in some of the biggest pop hits of the last twenty years. Raised in Sweden by Palestinian parents, Rami's first massive international hit was Britney Spears' “Baby One More Time,” which he co-produced with Max Martin. He and Martin went on to score additional hits with Spears, including “Oops…I Did it Again,” “Stronger,” and “I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman.” Additionally, he wrote and produced The Backstreet Boys' Top 10 single “Shape of My Heart” and NSYNC's “It's Gonna Be Me,” which was the group's only single to reach #1 on the Billboard pop chart. After co-writing P!nk's “U + Ur Hand,” he found massive success writing and producing for One Direction, including the hit singles “What Makes U Beautiful,” “One Thing,” “Live While We're Young,” and “Kiss You.” Additional hits Rami has written include “Starships” and “Pound the Alarm” by Nicki Minaj, “One Last Time” by Ariana Grande, “Unstable” by Justin Bieber, and the double platinum #1 hit “Rain on Me” for Lady Gaga, which was one of more than half a dozen songs he co-wrote for her critically acclaimed Chromatica album in 2020. The long list of artists who've recorded Rami's songs includes Demi Lovato, Celine Dion, Carl Rae Jepson, 5 Seconds of Summer, Avicii, All Time Low, Selena Gomez, Jason DeRulo, and Madonna.

We are met with the concept of “already…not yet” in many situations in life. We just completed the graduation season. Today we conclude the Not Yet series with a look at next steps. As we explore Luke 1-10 Pastor Dustin Clegg poses 3 questions: (1) Who were the tax collectors and sinners who were so drawn to Jesus? (2) What was it about Jesus that caused them to approach Him and listen to Him? (3) Why is rescue prioritized over being found?Moving forward.......... Jesus was a refuge for the broken. Broken people knew it because He had proven it. Join us in passionate prayer, creative thinking, and risky attempts at connecting with the uninitiated.

Pastor Dustin Clegg has 3 observations as we continue the Not Yet series and take a look at Matthew 11:25-30 and explore Rest for the Weary. We see that (1) the invitation of Jesus is simple, specific, and clear; and (2) the humble and lowly heart of Jesus is mind-blowing and life-altering for the whole world. How do we apply these 2 observations? Be sure you are a bridge and not a barrier between broken people and Jesus. The 3rd observation is the yoke of Jesus and the cross of Jesus cannot be separated. You should find real rest for your soul by constantly putting off your own agendas and motives and learning from Jesus.

Pastor Dustin Clegg continues with the Not Yet series as we look at Mark 15:1-20 and see that there is a Substitute for the Sinful. Dustin's 3 observations are: (1) The heart of Jesus for the "Not Yet's" is astonishing; (2) Jesus was the substitute for every single sin; (3) Jesus was the substitute for all of our shame. Can you see what Pilate, Barabas, the chief priests, and the crowd were too blind to see?
The power of NOT YET is incredible. It changes your mindset from, “I failed, I am a failure, and there is no next time”, to “I can learn, grow, and development and be more prepared for the next time”. Today’s episode is about helping you to understand how you can cultivate this mindset and begin replacing moments that feel like they are the end, and approach them with a not yet attitude. The 'Greatest Day' mindset is a lifestyle; a way of living every moment of every day with a positive attitude. It is choosing to be happy and live life with energy no matter your circumstances. Today truly is the only day you have to live, shape, and create who you want to become so choose to MAKE TODAY THE GREATEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE! Today we continue with the Not Yet series and look at Mark 6: 30-44 and The Bread to the Hungry. Pastor Dustin Clegg gives us 3 observations from this passage: (1) Rest is required to realistically minister to the "Not Yets"; (2) "Not Yets" are hungry for genuine; and (3) Concern and compassion are not the same thing. How do we apply this to our lives and personal ministry? (1) Move from a place of concern to a place of compassion; (2) Be real; and (3) Fight for your own rest, and fight for the rest of your brothers and sisters.
Today Pastor Dustin Clegg continues with the Not Yet series as we look at Mark 5 and take about The Cure for the Incurable.
Pastor Dustin Clegg starts a new series today titled Not Yet. At the Bridge Church we refer to those how have not yet trusted in Jesus as the "Not Yet's" and this series is about those who are not yet followers of Jesus Christ. In todays message we take a look at the Parable of the Sower in Mark 4. We first observe that (1) a "Not Yet" cannot be reached where a "Not Yet" is not yet. We should treat all places as sacred places worthy of sowing. We also see that (2) flingin' seed is not precision planting. It can and should be done by every single follower of Jesus. We shouldn't overthink the sowing...... it is not about precision. (3) Beat down dirt, rocky dirt, thorny dirt, and good dirt are all dirty dirt. You don't know what dirt you are sowing on, so just sow. Sow seeds and trust Jesus with the results.
Continuing the Joshua sermon series in chapters 13 and 14, Doug Goodin preaches "The Promised Land: Already, Not Yet."
Imposter syndrome is common among salespeople, and it chooses no gender. In this episode, however, let's learn how imposter syndrome affects women in sales. Melissa Oakes truly believes that she changes people's lives. Although many don't share the same thought, being able to bring people back to a time in their lives where they were happiest is a huge accomplishment. In the Hair Club, her team gets to help people feel good about themselves every day. It's not just about the hair; it's about what people can do for themselves to make their lives better. From having a better hair day to having a better life. Starting Hair Club It started out as a Hair Club for Men where almost all the salespeople were men. Melissa was one of the first female consultants. She also shared the negative stigma of salespeople then. Personally, she didn't want to become a salesperson due to that stigma. When she did get into sales, into a male-oriented industry, she felt like she always had to overcompensate. She felt like she needed to do things right because she had something to prove. The Imposter Syndrome Imposter syndrome leaves you feeling doubtful and dealing with other negative emotions. Doubting whether what you do is enough; whether you are good enough. It was a challenging time for Melissa because it prompted her to take things personally. When she faces objections, she takes it as an attack. For men, they can just move on. The same isn't true for women. Melissa always got into her own self-talks and eventually she realized that her doubts were making the sales process more about her and less about the person sitting in front of her. She realized that she couldn't help other people if she remained in that state. The rejection she experienced didn't motivate her. Instead, it piled up a lot of doubts in her head. Going over that state not only helps you as a salesperson, but also the people you're trying to make an impact for. Melissa learned to turn that No into a Not Yet. It helped her follow up with someone and make sure that she is in contact with them, building relationships and connections with them. She learned to focus her attention on the people she's helping and on what she could do for them. It's important for new salespeople to be genuine and be authentic to themselves. Sales is about making connections so be genuine in your own way, and build connections in a way that works for you. Giving quality service is about finding out what the person needs from you or how your business/service/products help them. We need to care more and show that personal connection. We also need to celebrate the little wins because that will get you out from whatever feeling you're in. “How Imposter Syndrome Affects Women in Sales” episode resources Follow Melissa Oakes on LinkedIn. We're kicking off 2021 with a bold and audacious goal. It's to launch 1 million dreams in one year! I know… I know. That might sound crazy… especially following all the wildness of 2020 and the first few weeks of 2021. BUT it feels like it's needed now... more than ever! That's right! We need a shared goal. Something to focus on. Something that could bring a much-needed injection of good, connection and collaboration into this world! In this episode, we talk about the genesis of the idea, who should join in and some strategies to get started! It's a crazy weird dream… but hey… it's usually those types of dreams that change the world for the better… right? And make life a lot more fun too. So… let's do this! DREAM THINK DO RESOURCES: Episodes mentioned: Chandler Bolt: 3 Keys to Publishing Your First Book - www.mitchmatthews.com/160 Kelsey Merritt: Getting Clarity on your Dreams - www.mitchmatthews.com/153 Introducing Kelsey to Bee Keeper, Brent Wesley: www.mitchmatthews.com/153 MORE FROM THE EPISODE: “Sometimes our setbacks are SET UPS for something better!” CALL TO ACTION: PART 1: Give yourself permission to DREAM. Get clear on a few new goals or dreams for this year. Consider Dreaming in “Categories” Do the following categories make you think of new and different dreams? Career, Education, Travel, Service, Media and Entertainment, Spiritual, Health & Fitness, Family and Relationships, Financial and Real Estate... AND Dreams that Defy Categorization. SPECIFIC: Write down at least 1 to 3 dreams PART 2: Invite someone to DREAM with you! Dreaming together is a LOT more fun. So invite someone to listen to this episode... and then dream together. Set up a phone call or a zoom call to talk about some dreams (big or small) you might want to pursue in the coming days. NOTE: Don't worry about whether they're “big” or “small.” If they matter to you… they're important! Then, encourage each other! The encouragement can come in the form of: Just listening (because someone really listening can be pretty rare these days) Encouragement (let them know you're excited for them and the dream) Connections, suggestions and ideas (Don't worry! You don't have to have all the answers, but if you do have something that might help the person… offer it!) that's pretty rare Don't invite your grumpy uncle!!! (NOT YET... at least.) Invite that crazy cool friend of yours... the one who's just the right amount of crazy. Just like you. Have 'em listen to the episode... and then set a time to connect. Then talk about what you might want to go after this year! Let's get ready to make 2021 our biggest and best year yet... NO MATTER WHAT!!! EPISODE MINUTE BY MINUTE: 1:08 Sometimes setbacks are setups 8:39 Entertaining the idea of “what if?” 13:15 Focusing on the good 14:03 Dreams can vary but the dream journey can be shared 16:35 You're more resilient than you think. 18:04 If we're gonna be crazy, we may as well do it together 19:06 Give yourself permission to dream 23:42 Give yourself permission to be imperfect 25:00 Be like Bruce 29:10 The story of the Big Dream gathering 40:37 A call to action for the new year 50:05 You don't have to do it alone I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU: Yes! That's right. I want to hear from YOU! Are you IN? Let me know in the comments with a quick “I'm IN!” or a “LET'S DO THIS!” Plus, let me know your thoughts on whether this is something that feels important right now. I think it is… not because it's easy… but because it's needed. But... I want to hear YOUR thoughts! Let me know.

The hope of Advent isn't just that Jesus came - it's that He is returning to fulfill His work and promise. Learn from 1 Thessalonians 4-5 how we can persevere and be encouraged as we wait for the "Not Yet" of the final Advent.
A new audio commentary on a recent news item from Mayhill Baptist is now available on SermonAudio: Title: Living in Between the Already and Not Yet Subtitle: Advent 2020 Speaker: Matt Henslee Broadcaster: Mayhill Baptist Event: Current Events Date: 12/24/2020 Bible: Isaiah 9:7 Length: 20 min.
Not Yet. And Yet. Borrowing the title, “Not Yet” from the December 13 Daily Reflection for Advent & Christmas, it symbolizes a special waiting. Not anxious but hopeful. That place or quiet calm gently building. More like anticipation. To many of us, it feels like the past year has been on hold. And we’ve grown weary. So many unforeseen struggles and challenges. We were not prepared. But now is not the time to look back and beat ourselves up for what we should have done. We must look down the road and prepare for the unfolding – as best we can. This episode lays a foundation to build your 2021 resolutions by actually sharing my goals/objectives with you. We start with defining SMART goals and share the what; the where and the how with you. We end with helping you to define your why; track and review your progress. This is our last episode for season 1, but we’ll be back on January 12. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
This week we're joined by fantastic director and producer Thomai Hatsios! Thomai was the first person to ever cast me in something out here, and we've been friends ever since! When I reached out to Thomai, she said she wanted to remake Pretty Woman! And that's what we did! I had never seen this movie. In many ways it exceeded my expectations, and in many ways it fell very short of them. So today we're remaking this movie and learning maybe a billionaire can't solve all your problems? Guests: Thomai Hatsios - @thomaifilm @idealremake Host: Sam Gasch - @samgasch Artwork: Lindsay Lleras: www.lindsaylleras.com Theme Song: Rebel Spies "Not Dead, Not Yet" from the album Rise!: www.rebelspies.bandcamp.com
Failure seems to be something that people are thinking about right now. If you are like me you failed millions of times, it is a part of life. As a society, we have now labeled failure and poisoned it true experience, we have made it menacing, something that is bad, or unwanted. This might have started in school. An F or a failing grade was considered unacceptable. Now at school an F probably meant that you were not putting in any effort. If one puts in little or no effort you get nothing back. We should put effort into each and everything we do. How do you deal with failure in your life today? Do you run from the chance of failing? Do you run over everything trying not to fail just with momentum? How would anyone ever learn to walk without falling? Do you see failure as something to avoid? Is it okay for others to fail but not yourself? Let's look at how infants and young children deal with failure. So when a kid is learning to walk is falling okay? How many kids learn to walk without falling. Does falling equal failure? Ever known a kid to mispronounce words as they learn to speak? Is that a failure? When is it that we moved from trial and error to trial without error? How does that work for you in your life? In the lives of many it seems to start around age 5 or 6. This is probably due to the expectations of the parents and family members and then reinforced as we move into school. But how does it serve us to fight failure? If we require each word to be perfect how will we learn how to speak? If we can't fall will we learn to walk? If we want to move forward we must allow ourselves the chance to fall or fail. I am a perfect example of this, I am a recovering perfectionist. I hold myself and those around me to a very high level of production and creation. Many times I have shot for a level that is not realistic and I have done it for most of my life. It is easy to have low self confidence when you try to live to such a level and continually not meet it. I bet some of you know what I'm talking about. There are times when I did not want to act because I knew I could not produce at the level I will hold myself to. So I refused to step so that I did not fall. But I have found the statement to be true. “You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.” Let's talk about how to get past them for you. Believe that you are not alone. Be mindful of your self talk and question it. Focus on the epic process. Make the shots without concern for the outcome Use the mind blowing magic of Not Yet. “The ball did not yet go in” Believe you can change Praise the noble efforts of others You can move past the pain, anxiety and fear. True failure is only in those that give upland not try. If you put in the practice and take the shots, then you will dominate the game. Setup a time to find some shot exercises that will help you. On the Overthinking It Podcast, we watch Disney’s live action remake of “Mulan” and ask ourselves, “Is it Loyal, Brave, and True?” Episode 649: She’s Not a Bird, Not Yet a Woman originally appeared on Overthinking It, the site subjecting the popular culture to a level of scrutiny it probably doesn't deserve.
