The term empowerment (or the verb empower) is used by a number of organizations to motivate employees and make them feel as if they have control over their job role and function. Organizations want to use the term empowerment but are they really empowering their employees?
In the space of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), the topic of allyship is prevalent. Being an ally is much more than just attending a Black Lives Matter march. Don’t get me wrong that is a great first step but to be a true ally means to defend what is right not only in public but also behind closed doors.
