This is a podcast designed for the students in Valley High School Ministry to highlight our Sunday night program.
Dan sat down with Chris Hilken, a featured speaker at Challenge and Impact. Their conversation includes faith, theology, California weather, God’s presence when we don’t feel it and the importance of being direct when preaching.
Dan recaps this past week at Sunday Night Online with Jake, a junior guy, and Hailey, a senior girl! They also answer a lot of other questions like their favorite places to eat in Des Moines, the best trips they've ever been on, and what their SLGs mean to them.
Dan and Mackenzie talk about the final night of our love, sex, and dating series where the big idea was God's grace is bigger than your mistakes. We also talk about when desire becomes lust, the sin difference between lust and doing something about it, what it looks like to come home to God, does God get mad at us, and what does it mean that we're in process as humans.
This past Sunday at HSM was a gender split night where Mackenzie shared a short message with the guys and Dan with the girls, then they switched back for a Q & A panel with leaders. In this episode they cover what they shared and answer a few of the questions from the panel: Is a movie a good first date idea? What do I do if the person I like is dating someone else? How do I break up with someone? Should I date a non-Christian? How do I know if I'm settling for someone? How do I talk about beliefs or find out if they're a believer without being offensive?
Dan and Mackenzie talk about the first night of our love, sex, and dating series where we covered five beliefs/counterfeits satan tries to offer us when it comes to this area of our lives. We also talk about why it matters that satan is playing chess and not checkers, what does a plan look like for someone who has never dated, and practical ways to flee from sexual immorality.
