In this unfiltered episode One Night in Bangkok, we sit down with David Bond for one of the most controversial and fascinating conversations we've recorded. Known as a travel vlogger, dating coach, and one of the most polarizing figures ever associated with Thailand's expat scene, David shares the full story behind his rise, backlash, and evolution over the last decade. We dive deep into how David went from a quiet IT job in California to going viral across Southeast Asia, building massive audiences on YouTube, and becoming both famous and infamous in Bangkok. We talk about meeting women abroad, the psychology of dating apps vs real-world interactions, running Instagram and Facebook ads to meet women, navigating online hate and media scandals, nomad life in Thailand, SE Asia, and South America, and how his views on dating have changed after becoming a father. This episode also explores larger themes around expat life, cultural misunderstandings, social media fame, money, relationships, and the hard lessons many men learn when moving to Southeast Asia. Whether you agree or disagree with David's perspectives, this is an honest conversation that pulls back the curtain on modern dating, internet fame, and life abroad.

This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! Long before Salem became shorthand for hysteria, fire, and fear, the idea of the witch had already crossed the ocean. In this episode, we dig into the dark origins of American witchcraft with historian and author Troy Taylor, whose new book One Night in Salem: The Hidden History of the American Witch peels back the layers of how fear arrived in the New World alongside the first European settlers. They didn't just bring religion and tradition with them—they carried the trauma of a Europe gripped by witch hunts, torture, and public executions. That fear didn't disappear when they reached America. It took root. What followed in Salem Village wasn't just superstition, but a perfect storm of paranoia, religious extremism, and social fracture—one that led to the deaths of innocent people and forever stained American history. But Salem wasn't the end of the story. We explore how witchcraft accusations evolved after Salem, how the image of the American witch shifted over time, and why the fear never truly went away. From colonial gallows to modern belief systems, this is the hidden history that still echoes today. This is Part Two of our conversation. La Porta | Renungan Harian Katolik - Daily Meditation according to Catholic Church liturgy
Delivered by Vallerie Koh from Saint Edmund Church of Limbang in the Diocese of Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia. 2 Samuel 7: 1-5.8b-12.16; Rs psalm 89: 2-3.4-5.27.29; Luke 1: 67-79.A VISIT LIKE ABRIGHT DAWN Our reflectionon the morning of December 24 is themed A Visit Like a Bright Dawn. Onenight, a father and his son had a serious argument before going to sleep. Theydisagreed about the family business they were running together. They did notmake peace and went to bed feeling upset. The son thought his father's ideaswere old-fashioned, so he did not take the argument seriously. For thefather, however, the harsh words hurt him deeply. He could not sleep at all. Nomatter how he lay down, he could not find peace. He got up, sat down, andwalked around the room, but still, he could not sleep. He only wished the nightwould end quickly. When morning came with its bright light, he wanted to seehis son, smile at him, say sorry, and hug him warmly. The fatherwanted to let go of his anger and resentment. His prayer was that the darknight would pass quickly so that he could make peace with his son in themorning. This experience is something we all can understand. Especially as weprepare to celebrate Christmas, many of us long to be visited by the brightdawn, the source of life—God Himself. Zechariah sings a song of praise, sayingthat God comes to visit His people. God frees them from their enemies, removesthe darkness, and brings light to those who are waiting for salvation. On the morningof December 24, the rising sun reminds us that its light shines brightly sothat we and our families may stay joyful throughout the day. Even though thesun sets in the evening and night comes, the light of Jesus Christ does notfade. He remains the bright dawn, and that night we celebrate His birth. In Zechariah'ssong, the dawn comes from above and shines on those who live in darkness andfear. We must admit that some members of the Church have stayed away from thislight for a long time and are only now ready to receive it. All of us—those whoare ready and those who are still preparing—let us rejoice as we welcome theBright Dawn who comes to visit us. Let us pray. In the name of the Father…O God, help us prepare our hearts well for the celebration of Christmastonight.Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in thebeginning, it's now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.In the name of the Father…

Santa Claus's journey on Christmas Eve — from house to house and across all continents in one night — has always required all believers to have unlimited trust in the truth of the story. Despite all doubts, physicists have now tried to use purely scientific methods to prove that Santa Claus could actually make the journey — thanks to unexpected help from a German — Nobel Prize winner Albert Einstein.

In this episode, Stuart and Jacob dive into the enchanting(?) world of romantic comedies as they compare the beloved 1934 classic "It Happened One Night", directed by Frank Capra, with its 1956 musical remake "You Can't Run Away from It", directed by comedian and actor Dick Powell?! The two explore the charming chemistry between leads Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert, and how their performances set a high bar for cinematic romance. Contrast this with Jack Lemmon and June Allyson's iteration of the story, and see how the musical elements and sound effects can form a... grating... experience. What makes the original resonate with audiences even today? Is the addition of musical numbers a blessing or a curse for this kind of movie? And just what in the hell is "Eve Knew Her Apples"? Also featured in this episode are opinions on the newest "Wicked" movie, a takedown off public transportation villains, praise for Claudette Colbert, and a long diatribe about the current state of the film industry (what else is new for this show?). All this and more on They Remade It!Plot Synopsis Timestamps: 15:26 - 20:20----------Socials----------@theyremadeit.bsky.social on Blueskytheyremadeit@gmail.com

It feels very fitting that after ten years and speaking to dozens of actors who have played Aaron Burr, the very last one to grace the podcast is Hamilton Broadway's original (inimitable!) Leslie Odom, Jr. We didn't have a long time, but let me tell you... we had a GREAT time. This episode is funny, it's moving, it's layered, it's healing, it's so much of why Leslie Odom, Jr. is such a fascinating person to talk to. He tells me about how his beautiful cover of Tonight, Tonight" by the Smashing Pumpkins came to be, his experience with Purlie Victorious, how much he loved pushing the nerd bar to a ten with Owen Tillerman in Central Park, and how playing the legendary Sam Cooke in One Night in Miami... meant the world to him. Aaron Burr is surrounded by ghosts and Leslie Odom, Jr. is no different because when it comes to his monumental return to Hamilton ten years after his Tony Award winning run originating Aaron Burr, the ghosts are everywhere: from his fellow original cast members to his younger self (omg wait until you get to that part, you're going to lose your mind). Coming back to Hamilton after a decade was his idea and Leslie is bringing ten years of therapy, regret, loss, grief, joy and everything in between to the stage of the Rodgers. Luckily for all of us, Hamilton is a show that can handle whatever he's bringing to the room that day. And even though he's playing Burr with more frustration this time around, he promises - promises! - that every single night he's trying his very best not to kill Alexander at the end of this thing. From his favorite Burr line to the importance of listening to your soul and why he promises to never, ever waste our time, Leslie Odom, Jr., lays it all out on the table. This week's guest is Russell Kane, the award-winning comedian and writer whose life and work span far beyond the stereotypes people often place on him. Despite growing up with expectations about who he should be and what his background meant for his future, Russell carved his own path, challenging labels, breaking cycles, and proving that your starting point doesn't have to define your destination. In this episode, Russell talks about the power of self-love, the damage caused by negative self-talk, and how breaking free from internal and external limits is often the first step toward real change. He also highlights the impact of small, consistent actions, showing how incremental progress, not dramatic transformation, is what truly moves us forward.Through honest insights and thoughtful conversation, this episode offers a roadmap for anyone who's ever felt boxed in by circumstance. Hollywood:1975. Martin Scorsese sits in his apartment, enraged. He wants to literally kill the man who is ruining his to-be-released film, Taxi Driver. Scorsese's friends, filmmakers Stephen Spielberg, Brian De Palma, John Milius, and Paul Schraeder rush to Scorsese's side to talk him out of committing murder, but when they arrive, their friend Marty acts less like himself and more like his Travis Bickle character from the film he's trying to save. SUMMARY:In today's episode, Steph takes listeners deep into one of the most shocking workplace murders in recent history — the Lululemon case. This story follows the lives of Jayna Murray and Brittany Norwood, two women who started life on remarkably similar paths: athletic, ambitious, intelligent, and deeply loved. But as adulthood unfolded, their journeys diverged dramatically.Jayna lived a life full of adventure, discipline, and exploration — from her childhood in Australia to her graduate studies at Johns Hopkins. Brittany, once a standout soccer star with a promising future, quietly battled an impulse she never confronted: a cycle of compulsive stealing that grew more dangerous over time.On March 12, 2011, those two paths collided inside a Lululemon store in Bethesda, Maryland.Listeners will hear:Jayna's international upbringing, athletic excellence, academic brilliance, and deep devotion to her familyBrittany's competitive childhood, collegiate soccer career, and the long-standing pattern of theft that followed her into adulthoodA detailed breakdown of the crime scene and Brittany's initial account of the attackThe investigation's early focus on an unrelated suspect, Keith Lockett, and how detectives ultimately cleared himThe disturbing inconsistencies that led police to re-examine Brittany's storyThe emotional second interview, including the pivotal moment Brittany's brother confronted herThe psychological insight behind kleptomania—why the urge to steal can become an addictionThe truth about the altercation between Jayna and Brittany that nightHow Brittany staged the scene, lied, and ultimately confessedThe heartbreaking details of Jayna's injuries and the trial that followedThis episode explores:How compulsive behaviors, when left untreated, can escalate into tragedyThe consequences of avoidance, secrecy, and escalating bad choicesThe systemic failure of Lululemon to address repeated employee misconductHow confrontation — especially over conduct long hidden — can trigger catastrophic outcomesThe bravery of Jayna Murray and the life she deserved to continue livingSteph closes the episode with a powerful discussion on how we often trivialize stealing as harmless or childish — when in reality, it can become its own addiction cycle. Brittany's reluctance to get help or face consequences created a storm she could no longer outrun, and Jayna lost her life because of it. This tragedy stands as a reminder that ignoring patterns doesn't erase them… it allows them to grow.-----------------------------------------------------------------Giveaway Instructions Subscribe to the Murder in the Black YouTube channel.Choose any video on our channel and leave a comment. That's it — you're entered! The giveaway closes November 30th, so don't wait — jump in now!LINK BELOWhttps://youtube.com/@murderintheblack?si=cr03m4ITJTzz01qXSources for This Episode:The Washington Post – In-depth reporting on the Lululemon murder, trial transcripts, and investigative findings.ABC News – Coverage of Brittany Norwood's arrest, trial, and details surrounding theft allegations and motive.NBC Washington – Local reporting from 2011 including interviews, community statements, and crime-scene updates. The Baltimore Sun – Reporting on Brittany Norwood's confession, trial proceedings, and sentencing.Montgomery County Court Records – Trial filings, witness statements, and verdict documentation from State of Maryland v. Hey Theology Nerds! What an absolute banger of an episode we've got for you - two live conversations straight from the wild and wonderful chaos of Theology Beer Camp 2025 in St. Paul. First up, I sit down with the incomparable Diana Butler Bass and my co-host Sarah Heath to dive into Diana's brand new book A Beautiful Year - and let me tell you, it's peak DBB, friends. We're talking about seasons and spirituality, finding God in the everyday rhythm of time, and how the church might just be walking away from us while we're walking toward it (trust me, it makes sense when Diana explains it). Then we pivot to my friends Andy and Kara Root who share killer insights from their new book A Pilgrimage into Letting Go: Helping Parents and Pastors Embrace the Uncontrollable - basically how to not completely screw up raising kids in a world that's accelerating faster than we can keep up with. Both conversations get real about control, confession, and finding those holy moments we can't manufacture but desperately need. So do yourself a favor: grab both of these books, and while you're at it, get on the list for Theology Beer Camp 2026 - because where else are you gonna find 600 theology nerds singing Bohemian Rhapsody together? Head over here to sign up for all the info. Trust me, you don't want to miss what we're cooking up for next year! You can WATCH the conversation on YouTube Sign up HERE to stay up to date on Theology Beer Camp 2026 & get EARLY ACCESS to the cheapest tickets. UPCOMING ONLINE ADVENT CLASS w/ Diana Butler Bass Join us for a transformative four-week Advent journey exploring how the four gospels speak their own revolutionary word against empire—both in their ancient context under Roman occupation and for our contemporary world shaped by capitalism, militarism, and nationalism. Advent marks the beginning of the church year—an invitation to step out of the empire's time and into God's time, where the last are first, the mighty are scattered, and a child born in occupied territory changes everything. This course invites you into an alternative calendar and rhythm. While our modern world races through December toward consumption and productivity, Advent calls us to a different time—a counter-imperial waiting, a subversive hope, a radical reimagining of how God enters the world. What will we experience? Each week, we'll hear one gospel's unique vision of the birth narrative, allowing Matthew, Luke, John, and Mark to speak in their own voices about what it means for God to show up when empires think they're in control. We'll discover how these ancient texts of resistance offer wisdom for our own moment of political turmoil, economic inequality, and ecological crisis. This class is donation-based, including 0. Episode 194: Depeche Mode: Home Video Concert Releases (Part 2) Brian and Sarah's mini-series on Depeche Mode's home video concert releases continues in this episode. Unlike the previous episode, which covered two movies, Depeche Mode: One Night in Paris – The Exciter Tour 2001 is the only release discussed here. However, before getting into the discussion of that concert, Brian and Sarah spend a little time talking about their adventures on opening day of the latest DM concert movie, Depeche Mode: M. They don't go into details about their movie experience just yet, though; these stories are about the people, places and things they enjoyed before the movie. After that sidebar, the discussion about Depeche Mode: One Night in Paris begins. There are eight years between the previous concert video (Devotional) and this one, and as DM fans know very well, a lot transpired for the band during those eight years. As of this concert, Dave Gahan is now clean and sober, and Alan Wilder has moved on from the band. Peter Gordeno and Christian Eigner appear on keyboards and drums, respectively, and of course founding members Martin Gore and Andy "Fletch" Fletcher are still around and join Dave on stage. Longtime Depeche Mode collaborator Anton Corbijn directs this film, as well as providing background video footage shown during the concert. Brian and Sarah talk about his approach to filming and editing this show, as they answer the same ten questions for One Night in Paris as they did for …Live in Hamburg and Devotional. In case you don't know or don't remember, a few of the other topics covered in the questionnaire are "Song to watch on repeat;" "Song to skip next time," and "Who wore it best? Favorite onstage garb." Of course, Brian and Sarah go off on tangents and discuss plenty of other things too! Join them on this trip back to Paris in October 2001 and relive some exciting Exciter moments! This week on Black on Black Cinema, the crew returns to introduce the next film, "40 Acres." The film takes place in a post-apocalyptic world with food scarcity, as a Black family of Canadian farmers, descended from American Civil War migrants, they defend their homestead against cannibals trying to seize their resources. The random topic this week is all about the November 4th special elections that happened around the country. While it certain was a positive night, we discuss this but also what the real fight ahead looks like and why people like Charlemagne tha god's advice to Democrats is not only hypocritical but also deeply wrong.
Sarah Bonsignore joins the show to take stunning calls from people who hooked up with two competing brothers in a single night, and have a neighborly mishap with the stoner next door. In her latest novel, One Aladdin Two Lamps, the writer Jeanette Winterson takes inspiration from the legendary story of Shahrazad in One Thousand and One Nights. But she calls on the reader to look again at stories we think we know, unpick how fiction works, and have the courage to challenge and change the narrative. The saxophonist and presenter Soweto Kinch will perform his new album, Soundtrack to the Apocalypse, with the London Symphony Orchestra (at the Barbican, London, on Friday 14th November), combining British jazz, hip-hop and orchestral music. This is the finale of his acclaimed trilogy of politically charged, genre-defying works that tell different stories of the past, present and future. The former MP Rory Stewart spent nearly a decade in Britain's most rural constituency, Penrith and Borders, and wrote a column for a local newspaper. In Middleland: Dispatches from the Borders he's collected together these fragmentary moments from rural life and local politics to capture a wide-ranging portrait of life and stories from the Cumbrian countryside. Producer: Katy Hickman Assistant Producer: Natalia Fernandez
