See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Product-Led vs. Sales-Led Growth: Which model is right for your agency? In this episode, Corey breaks down the key differences between product-led growth (PLG) and sales-led growth (SLG) for agencies. Learn how each approach impacts scaling, client acquisition, and long-term success—and why specialization is the secret to standing out in a crowded market. Whether you're building self-serve solutions or relying on high-touch sales, this conversation will help you choose the best strategy for sustainable growth. Here's what we cover in this episode: - The Founder-Led Sales Trap: Why many agencies rely on the founder's reputation and referrals, and how this limits long-term growth. - Master Your Vertical: How to build a better product, better client experience, attract better clients, and charge more. - When to Make the Shift: Signs that an agency needs to transition from product-led to sales-led growth for sustainable scaling. - Building a Predictable Sales System: Steps to transition from founder-driven sales to a repeatable, team-driven sales process. - The Role of Specialization in Scaling an Agency: Why narrowing focus and refining expertise can help agencies break out of stagnation. - Gift-Based Outbound: The simple method Corey uses to establish trust and book more sales calls with high-value prospects. Bottom Line: - Strengths and Weaknesses of a Product-Led Agency: Strong client relationships, high retention, but limited scalability and founder dependency. - Strengths and Weaknesses of a Sales-Led Agency: Scalable growth, predictable revenue, but higher costs and potential sales-delivery misalignment. “As you begin to build expertise in the market serving that vertical market, you'll be able to build a better product, a better experience for your clients… then you'll be able to attract better clients and charge more.” - Corey Quinn The resources mentioned in this episode are: Escape the generalist trap with Corey's best-selling book “Anyone, Not Everyone” and discover how to become the go-to agency in a vertical market https://www.AnyoneNotEveryone.com

The Royals traded Brady Singer to the Reds for Jonathan India and Joey Wiemer.a.Who does this free up for playing time in Cincinnati?b.Does Brady Singer's value go down moving to Cincinnati?c.Joey Weimer has alluring tools with plus speed and enough pop to suggest 15 to 20 home run pop. He's never been able to hit. Does he get a shot in Kansas City?2.The Nationals non-tender Kyle Finnegan, and he is now a free agent. I'm not sure I get this one. They couldn't trade him?a.Who do you like to get saves in Washington?3.The Rockies non-tender Brandon Rodgers. I guess this makes sense as he was due for a raise (estimated at $5.5 million), and let's face it, he's not that good, and there are plenty of options.a.Who do you think gets his playing time?4.Finally, the Blue Jays non-tender Jordan Romano. He was estimated to earn $8 million and it appears that the Jays didn't want to take the risk on whether he would return to form. Perhaps they don't like the medicals.a.Who do you like to get saves in Toronto?Segment 2 – Fantasy Questions of the NL East1.Atlanta Bravesa.Michael Harris went late in the second, early third round last year, which resulted in a 16/10 year and a batting average of .264. He's going about in the same spot (42 ADP). Do you like this spot for him.i.We will look at other players going around him to see who you preferb.Stat line for Austin Riley – HR, RBI and BA. He went 19 and 56 last season.i.His ADP is 30.82 and he's going as the third third baseman off the board. Too much or just about right?c.Is Marcel Ozuna turning into Nelson Cruz. He seems to be getting better with age. What are the odds he gets close to his 39/104 with a .302 batting average in 2025?d.What did you think of the trade for Griffin Canning? He has pretty good stuff with a plus change-up and slider, but his fastball gets crushed (.529 SLG). Can the Braves perform magic again here?i.I wrote this before he got non-tendered. I guess the answer is no. Weird though.e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)2.Miami Marlinsa.Connor Norby 2025 stats – HR, SB and BAb.Xavier Edwards stole 31 bases in 70 games last season but has no power. He did hit .328 but it was supported by a .398 BABIP. He's only SS eligible and is the #17 SS off the board. Any interest? If so, how will you make up for the lack of power?c.Deyvision De Los Santos – 2025 stats – AB, HR, and BAxd.Sandy Alcantara is going as the 69th pitcher off the board. Let's call it a number three starter. Is there sneaky value there or do you have to discount him because of the TJS until we know more?e.Is the Marlins closer currently on their roster?f.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)3.New York Metsa.Mark Vientos is going to cost you this season. His ADP is 99, and he's the 7th third baseman off the board. Good value or too expensive?i.He has average bat speed but hits the ball extremely hard (80th percentile). There is a ton of swing-and-miss in his game, and he has no speed. Is Jake Burger a good com?b.Does Tyronne Taylor start the season as the Met's starting center fielder?c.After finishing with 33 home runs and 29 stolen bases and runner up to Shohei Ohtani for NL MVP, why is Francisco Lindor going off the board as the 17th overall pick? Shouldn't he be higher or does this feel about right?d.Kodai Senga – 2025 stat line - IP, Ks and ERAe.Give me a sleeper in the organization (minor or majors)

Leah Tharin brings B2B SaaS to the product-led growth retention light. Advising organizations to bring growth, product, marketing, and sales in line, scaling to move down or upmarket. She works in the operational details and not the hypothetical clouds with her clients. In this episode, Leah explains the differences between product-led growth (PLG) and sales-led growth, highlighting the benefits of usage-limited freemiums in PLG strategies. She emphasizes the importance of focusing on core value and customer experience when designing freemiums. She advises on pricing strategies, recommending minimal price changes during the early stages and frequent experiments as the company matures. Why you have to check out today's podcast: Find detailed definitions of key business concepts like product-led growth (PLG) and sales-led growth (SLG) that offer valuable comparisons to help you understand their differences, as well as applications. Learn practical and actionable advice on pricing strategies, emphasizing the importance of initial pricing for early-stage companies and the need for frequent pricing experiments as the company grows. Deep dive into effective business practices, such as leveraging freemium models and understanding the importance of customer value in pricing strategies. "If you cannot convince people to use your stuff for free, then I think you should not have any price on your product." - Leah Tharin Topics Covered: 01:32 - Why she describe the relationship between pricing and value as stressful 03:09 - Defining a product-led growth 06:47 - Leah expanding the product-led growth definition to include interactive demos and automated marketing tools 08:49 - How companies adopt product-led growth to improve cost efficiency and compete with more agile, cost-effective competitors 11:22 - Sales-led growth defined 14:20 - What does a product-led growth focuses in getting into 20:02 - Understanding a Freemium product offer 24:10 - Why she prefers a Freemium model that is usage-limited 26:46 - An outcome-driven way of looking at the minimum viable product 29:31 - Leah's best pricing advice Key Takeaways: "Traditionally we talk about product-led growth in the terms of trials, freemiums, getting something for free forever until you buy it, and so forth. But I also talk about it in the context of getting an interactive demo where you understand what they now do inside of this demo." - Leah Tharin "...what we try to do in product-led growth is exactly this. It's not so much about how much the customer spends in the initial payment with us or like even the first couple of months, maybe even year. It is about the lifetime value, how fast we can escalate this of course as well because this is also a sign of customer value." - Leah Tharin "For commoditized markets, product-led growth, if it can be done, it's not always the right thing, but definitely the choice that you have to make. In new verticals with extremely complicated integrations, we tend to be more sales-led for sure." - Leah Tharin People /Resources Mentioned: Netflix: https://www.netflix.com Spotify: https://open.spotify.com Hubspot: https://www.hubspot.com Salesforce: https://www.salesforce.com Connect with Leah Tharin: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/leahtharin/ Website: https://www.leahtharin.com/ Connect with Mark Stiving: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/stiving/ Email: mark@impactpricing.com

So, now we know. It was the toe. The pinkie toe, to be exact. The littlest pig. That's what kept Conor McGregor out of the fight of the year, his grudge (?) match years in the making against Michael Chandler. And lo, what irony of all ironies it was the original SLG himself, Chael Sonnen, who trolled Conor into posting pics of the injured digit online which … yeah, that went about like you'd expect. With McGregor and Chandler off (perhaps for good), this weekend we get a revamped UFC 303 card that looks, well, just fine. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

This week on the Expert Voices podcast, Randy Wootton, CEO of Maxio, speaks with Dave Boyce, a GTM-focused SaaS Advisor, board member for Winning by Design and Forrester, and professor at BYU. Dave shares his unique approach to career decisions, focusing on his need for challenging work that ensures personal growth and impact. This approach has shaped his strategies for businesses to adopt a customer-centric mindset that aligns the product with the user's core needs, creating a successful PLG strategy. Dave and Randy discuss the framework required for a PLG model, identifying the mindset, talent, and timeline necessary for successful adoption, and how go-to-market strategies differ and can coexist in today's business environment.Quotes“There are three really hard pills to swallow. One is mindset, one is talent, and one is timeline. For mindset, I'm going to get in an empathy and generosity mindset where I'm simplifying down and meeting a customer right where she is. I'm going to put metrics into the product so that when she's stumbling or not making her way through, I'll know about that. Because I don't have a human in the room anymore either selling or implementing or coaching or training. That customer is on her own and I need to know when she's having trouble. Empathy, generosity, and metrics help me get that user experience right.” -Dave Boyce [08:33]“PLG introduces this low threshold of payments that are tied to value. I think that creates discipline in your marketing motion. It creates discipline in the way you think about satisfying customers' pain with your claim, the delivery of the capabilities, and how you do fast iteration and improvements. So I think it's this dynamic constraint or mixing of two metaphors, but you've got these constraints in terms of your business model and what you can afford to do, and that makes you super scrappy. So it is in line with innovation, fast fail, rapid turn type motions.” -Randy Wootton [14:47]Expert Takeaways PLG strategies focus on the product selling itself, with immediate value creation for users as opposed to the typical sales involvement in SLG.Go-to-market fit requires a scalable and economical source of customer acquisition, aiming for a customer acquisition cost (CAC) payback period of less than one year.Scaling PLG into a viable business unit involves understanding a growth model dependent on new customer acquisition, renewals, and expansion. The dynamic between PLG and SLG isn't necessarily an 'either-or' scenario; they can and often do function as complementary strategies in a hybrid model.Timestamps(02:03) Guiding principles for career pivots(10:23) Differentiating between bottom-up and top-down approaches in PLG(13:41) Adapting to PLG with a lower ACV(21:29) The false dichotomy between PLG and SLG, the hybrid approach(26:00) Rolling out a PLG business: product-market fit, go-to-market fit, and scale(32:35) Designing applications to get product usage metrics(42:41) Building a flywheel and repeatable processes for PLG(44:47) CAC payback for unit economics and disciplineLinksMAXIOUpcoming Events
1978 NLCS We have another repeat matchup on the National League side of the playoffs, with the Los Angeles Dodgers (95 - 67) and the Philadelphia Phillies (90 - 72) squaring off once again. This is the third straight NLCS appearance for the Phils, but they've yet to win a playoff game at Veterans Stadium, much to the disappointment of their energized fans. Although the Phillies lead the NL East for most of the season, there was fear of a 1964-esque collapse in September. The Pirates and Cubs were chasing them down, but Danny Ozark's squad rallied for a strong finish to stave off their pursuers. The pitching staff was solid, yet unspectacular. Carlton and Christenson provided both quality and quantity in terms of innings, and the bullpen was as reliable as ever with Reed, McGraw, and Brusstar. The Phillies had an elite offense just a year ago (5.23 R/G 108 OPS+ 1st in NL), but their run production slipped this season (4.37 R/G 99 OPS+ 3rd in NL). This was largely due to a significant drop in power from the likes of Mike Schmidt (.574 SLG in '77 -> .435 SLG in '78), and Bake McBride (.564 SLG -> .392 SLG), not to mention paltry bench production compared to the previous year. Greg “The Bull” Luzinski put together another excellent campaign (35 HR 101 RBI 153 OPS+) and will look to continue his great postseason play. He'll need his teammates to join him this year if they want to advance to the World Series. The Dodgers road back to the World Series was certainly more challenging than last year, as they trailed both San Francisco and Cincinnati in the NL West at the beginning of August. They proceeded to finish out the year 33 - 19 while the Giants and Reds sputtered down the stretch. Although not as dominant as they were in '77, Tommy Lasorda's Dodgers were quite formidable. The lineup boasted a quartet of 30 HR hitters last year, but did not have a single guy reach that mark this season. That is not to say those guys had bad years. To the contrary, Reggie Smith (29 HR 93 RBI 162 OPS+), Steve Garvey (21 HR 113 RBI 138 OPS+), and Ron Cey (23 HR 84 RBI 134 OPS+) provided more than enough punch to lead the NL's top offense (4.49 R/G 108 OPS+). Bounce back seasons from veteran Rick Monday and pinch-hitter extraordinaire Lee Lacy offset letdowns from Steve Yeager and Dusty Baker. The starting rotation was best in the league once again, with Sutton, Hooton, John, and Rau all winning at least 15 games and throwing nearly 200 innings or more. General manager Al Campanis added much needed bullpen help with a free agent signing of a former White Sox and Pirate standout, Terry Forster (22 SV 1.93 ERA 65 IP). The lefty fireballer has been money in the late innings for LA. As the Dodgers get ready to defend their NL Pennant, their thoughts are with their hitting coach, Jim Gilliam. The former All-Star second baseman, who spent all of his MLB playing and coaching career with the Dodgers, suffered a brain bleed in late September and has been in a coma ever since. Unfortunately, he will never wake up from that coma. Gilliam had always felt lucky to be a Dodger, and they were lucky to have him. If the Dodgers are able to win this series, it will be for Jim Gilliam. Segment 1 – News and Notes1.Help me understand the Marlins signing of Tim Anderson. He's there starting shortstop after posting a .245/.286/.296 slash line. That's a .296 SLG! Nothing in his data points to a bounce back. Tim, what are they doing?2.Riley Greene and Manny Machado were both questionable entering spring training but are scheduled to make their debuts next week. Are you moving them up in your draft rankings?3.The Pirates signed a player! Mitch Keller signed a 5-year, $77 million contract this week. It seems pretty cheap, given how little pitching there is.a.Stat line for 2024 – IP, Ks, and ERA4.Yuki Matsui looked impressive on Thursday. He struck out the side in 12 pitches. Remind everyone of your view on the Padres bullpen situation.5.Casey Mize appears to be ready to go this spring, and few people are talking about him. He was a target of mine in Dynasty League startups, as people seem to have forgotten about him. After all, he was drafted 1:1 just a few years ago. Your thoughts on him?a.BTW, did you see that Skubal was throwing 100 MPH last week? 6.Kodai Senga. Yikes. Any early thoughts on who the Mets will turn to?7.Aaron Judge this week said that his injured toe will require “constant maintenance” for the REST OF HIS CAREER! What? Do you downshift at all on him at the draft table? What about in Dynasty Leagues?a.Speaking of the Yankees…did you see Giancarlos Stanton? He looks like he lost 40 pounds. Segment 2 – Pitcher Sleepers. We will start to lay out our sleeper for the year. Please come up with five guys. My guys are below with a few extras.1.Pablo Lopez (Min, 37.6) – Ace-level quality that you can get in the third round2.Shane Bieber (Cle, 140.59) – His velo has taken a tick up this season, and that has been a problem for him over the past couple of years. I'll take a gamble in the 9th round.3.Nestor Cortes (NYY, 238.31) – Cortes' data looks great and if he can stay healthy, he's a steal in 15 to 16th round.4.Casey Mize (Det, 415) – If he's healthy, there are some pitch changes he's made that should play well.5.Christian Scott (NYM, 644) – With the injury to Senga, I like the setup for Scott this season.6.Nick Nastrini (CHW, 665) – Four pitches, fastball up to 96. He's a bit of a fly-ball hitter, and that could be problematic in Chicago, but overall, there is a #3 starter upside.7.Cade Povich (Bal, 809) – The Orioles will need pitching help this season and I believe Povich could help. It's a 94 to 95 MPH fastball with a high spin from the left side. He just needs to throw more strikes.Close

Locked On Giants – Daily Podcast On The San Francisco Giants
The San Francisco Giants have been the definition of mediocre over the last two seasons. The Giants finished exactly 81-81 in 2022, an exactly .500 record for the first time in franchise history. They were two games worse than than in 2023. So it's fitting, and a bit concerning, that the SF Giants project at exactly 81.0 wins in 2024 according to PECOTA. The good news is that there's still a lot of talent out there and the Giants could significantly improve their standing in what figures to be a National League with quite a bit of parody outside of LA and Atlanta.Switching gears, Keith Law's Top 100 prospects list is discussed. Law considers Kyle Harrison to be the SF Giants' best prospect, and one of the top prospects in baseball. He views him as a No. 2 starter right now and a potential ace if he can tighten up his command or refine his breaking ball. Also appearing on Law's Top 100 are Marco Luciano (who disappointingly falls into the 80s) and Bryce Eldridge, the SF Giants' first-round pick in 2023.Finally, with 51 days until Opening Day, Jung Hoo Lee—who will wear No. 51—is discussed. In particular, a range of projections for Lee are assessed. What's amazing about all of the different projections for Lee is how similar they are. There is a narrow range of projected outcomes in key metrics like AVG, OBP, SLG, wRC+, WAR, and K%. All of the systems view the Giants' top addition as a solidly above-average player.Find and follow Locked On Giants on your favorite podcast platforms:

This episode features an interview with Shay Howe, Chief Marketing Officer at ActiveCampaign, where he leads the marketing, customer activation, partnership, platform strategy, and Postmark teams. Previously, Shay has led product teams at Belly, Yello, and Groupon, and has also held in-residence roles as an advisor with Techstars and Lightbank VC.In this episode, Kailey and Shay discuss PLG and SLG handoffs, customer activation teams, and the importance of owned channels.-------------------Key Takeaways:Owned channels like websites, email lists, and podcasts can often be overlooked in the customer experience journey. However, these channels are critical because they allow you to control your messaging, collect data without a third party, and nurture relationships with customers directly. If you want to improve your customer experience, get out of the building and talk with your customers. Figure out what part of the process they have enjoyed or where their pain points are, and then find ways to evolve that through AI or automation.Be careful not to over-automate parts of your business that make you unique. Learn where human touch is relevant so your customers can form a relationship with you, and only automate areas that can take mundane tasks off your plate.-------------------“We're doing a lot to help folks build relationships with their customers through those owned assets, put them in places where they can control more of that owned message, and then they can collect the data themselves, not rely on third parties to do that. You're also driving traffic back to your own owned assets. It becomes your own little flywheel, which is important.” – Shay Howe-------------------Episode Timestamps:*(02:57) - Shay's career journey*(07:59) - How Shay is enabling his team to build personalized experiences*(12:56) - How PLG and SLG can complement each other *(21:35) - How ActiveCampaign is using AI*(29:36) - The pitfalls of automation*(37:28) - How Shay defines “good data”*(39:19) - An example of another company doing it right with customer engagement (hint: it's Chewy and ChartMogul)*(40:54) - Shay's recommendations for upleveling customer experience strategies-------------------Links:Connect with Shay on LinkedInConnect with Kailey on LinkedInLearn more about Caspian Studios-------------------SponsorGood Data, Better Marketing is brought to you by Twilio Segment. Fantasy Baseball Live – November 19, 2023 @ 3 pm ETSegment 1 – News and Notes1.The Braves trade Kyle Wright to the Royals for Jackson Kowar. Wright will miss most of the 2024 season recovering from shoulder surgery and is a long-term play for the Royals. He will be under team control for 2025 and 26. Jackson Kowar hasn't developed.a.Your thoughts on the trade?2.The Marlins acquired Vidal Brujan and RHP Calvin Faucher from the Rays for IF Erick Lara and RHP Andrew Lindsey. Brujan is the name here and brings big speed. Will he get enough playing time in Miami to warrant any interest?a.Don't dismiss Lara. He's a 17-year-old kid who played well in the DSL, walking nearly as much as he struck out with a little bit of speed and power.b.Lindsey was the Marlins fifth-round pick last July and was the University of Tennessee Friday Night starter. His fastball is up to 98 with a plus slider. He did turn 24 last week and has only pitched in the Complex League. He should be watched very closely. 3.The Braves acquired Aaron Bummer from the White Sox for five players. The five players going back to the White Sox are RHP Mike Soroka, LHP Jared Shuster, MI Nicky Lopez and Braden Shewmake, and RHP Riley Gowens.a.On the surface, it looks like a lot for Bummer, but he's controllable for three years, and his stuff is better than you think. He's a sinkerballer with an xSLG of .386 despite an SLG of 452. His signature pitch is his sweeper, and it's one of the best in baseball. It's a good arm.b.In return, the White Sox get a lot of famous guys, but all of them have hair on them. Soroka has never stayed healthy. Jared Shuster was a top-ranked prospect until we got a look at his Statcast data. It's not great with a below-average fastball and two solid but unspectacular secondary pitches in his cutter and change-up.c.Braden Shewmake might be the most interesting of the bunch. He makes great contact with plus speed (27 SB in Triple-A) with a little bit of power. He can play both second and short and might get a shot at short if Colson Montgomery needs more grooming in the minor leagues.4.The Rockies acquired Cal Quantrill from the Guardians. He was one of your sleepers last year. I'm going out on a limb and thinking…not so much for 2024.5.A bunch of players were non-tendered over the weekend.a.Brandon Woodruff – shoulder issuesb.Nick Senzel – Is he any good?c.Danny Vogelbach – The Mets fans are surely pleased.Segment 2 – Fantasy questions of the AL Central1.Chicago White Soxa.I think it's safe to say that Oscar Colas did not set the world on fire in 2023. He hit .216 with a .257 OBP. He does hit the ball hard (114 max exit velo) but has never had great leverage in his swing. Of course, he's also never walked. i.He's going as the 120th outfielder off the board. Pick 537. Any interest?b.Who will you be suggesting for saves in Chicago this season? i.How many?c.Dylan Cease – Stat line for 2024. IP, wins, Ks, and ERA.i.Which team does he start the 2024 season, and which does he end the season with?d.Give me a sleeper in the organization (Minor and/or Major)2.Cleveland Guardiansa. The Guardians recently acquired Ramon Laureano. He doesn't appear to be the high-contact player that like to roster, yet he is the starting right fielder. Over/Under 400 Abs.b.Stat line for Kyle Manzardo. AB, HR, BA, RBI.c.Bo Naylor is going as the 12th catcher off the board. He will finish the season as the _______ catcher in fantasy baseball.d.Triston McKenzie only started four games last season and is going 90th pitcher off the board…call it 60th starter. Did you think there is sneaky value there?e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (Minor and/or Major)3.Detroit Tigersa.True or False. Riley Greene will have a breakout season in 2024.b.Javier Baez is signed for another four years and $98 million. No question…just an observation.c.Kerry Carpenter is going as a number three outfielder (43). Early drafters must think there is more in the tank than 20 home runs. What say you?d.Who would you rather have, Reese Olson at pick 252 or Sawyer Gibson-Long at pick 321?e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (Minor and/or Major)4.Kansas City Royalsa.Vinnie P. should be back in 2024. He is going as the 17th first baseman off the board. Is there value there or is there too much risk?b.Will Eddie Olivares break my heart again? I'm thinking 15-15 with a .260 to .270 average? He did 12-11 last year in 385 Pas.c.Cole Ragans has flown up draft list. He is the 52nd pitcher, but the 37th starting pitcher. Is he worth being your number three starter?d.Over/Under 100 losses for the Royals.e.Give me a sleeper in the organization (Minor and/or Major)5.Minnesota Twinsa.Annual Question – Over/Under 100 games for Byron Buxton. He only did that in 2017 when he played 140 games. b.With all the talk of Carlos Correa's injury concerns, he's played the last three seasons basically injury-free (148 games, 136 and 135). The real question might be his eroding production. He only hit 18 home runs last season with a 46% groundball rate. He still hits the ball hard, but his launch angel continues to flatten. Over/Under 20 home runs in 2024?c.I debated including Joe Ryan in my sleeper pitcher list, but he was one of the final cuts. I like the new splitter, the xERA of 3.53, and the much better xSLG than SLG on all his pitches. However, he is the 30th starter off the board (44th pitcher overall), and I thought that was too much. i.What are your thoughts?d.Give me a sleeper in the organization (Minor and/or Majors)CloseThis show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/3306394/advertisement
This episode features an interview with Ilan Frank, Vice President of Product at Airtable. Ilan has over 2 decades of experience in building productivity solutions around specific requirements within administration, security, compliance, and scale. Before joining Airtable, he was an early leader at Slack, where he helped the company scale to win the enterprise. In this episode, Kailey sits down with Ilan to discuss the PLG gap, how Airtable is helping customers leverage AI, and driving alignment through culture and communication.-------------------Key Takeaways:The most successful companies these days are the ones that start with PLG. They are creating value and delight for their end users who then share those positive experiences with their colleagues.Using AI to create a great customer experience needs three things. The first is getting AI into the hands of app developers so they can deliver more functionality to end users. Second, use machine learning to make decisions and predict information in your app. And finally, use AI as an assistant to builders so they can build faster. When growing your enterprise software, relationship building is key. It's important to connect product managers and engineers directly with customers to figure out which features they're most excited to try. These relationships create champions for growth of your software.-------------------“The companies that are going to be successful now in this decade, are ones that start with PLG. They start with creating value for end users, and those end users are just delighted and can't wait to share it with their colleagues. It's going to be very difficult for a company to come in and just basically create a better ServiceNow, or a better Workday, or better Salesforce without that.” – Ilan Frank-------------------Episode Timestamps:*(02:47) - Ilan's career journey*(07:50) - How AI relates to customer experience in enterprise technology*(18:59) - Ilan explains the PLG gap*(26:51) - How Ilan defines “good data” *(36:44) - An example of another company doing it right with customer engagement (hint: it's Snyk and Figma)*(39:45) - Changes in customer experience in the next 6-12 months*(42:43) - Ilan's recommendations for upleveling customer experience strategies-------------------Links:Connect with Ilan on LinkedInConnect with Kailey on LinkedInLearn more about Caspian Studios-------------------SponsorGood Data, Better Marketing is brought to you by Twilio Segment. Locked On Giants – Daily Podcast On The San Francisco Giants
The San Francisco Giants' offense has been just awful. Awful! For about roughly the last 38% of the season. What's insane is that the SF Giants were one of the top offensive teams in MLB through their first 77 games, or 47.5% of the season. The Giants were, not that long ago, 14 games over .500. If they simply could've played .500 ball the rest of the way, they'd be sitting pretty. But it's hard to play .500 ball when you're last in AVG, OBP, and SLG (by 50 points!) for nearly 40% of the season. The Giants' abysmal offense has put the pitchers in an impossible position. Just today, when Logan Webb allowed a solo home run in the first few innings, the game basically felt out of reach. That's how bad this slump has been for the San Francisco Giants' offense. Alex Cobb, Tristan Beck, and Kyle Harrison had rough starts in San Diego as the Padres looked like the good version of themselves against the Giants after falling flat consistently all season long. Of course! There are only 24 games left on the schedule, and suddenly the Giants find themselves facing an uphill battle. They'll end the day at best half a game behind Miami for the third wild card spot, and more likely they'll be a full game back of Arizona and Cincinnati AND a half game back of Miami. The Giants' playoff odds have likely not been lower since prior to their 10-game win streak in mid-June. It's become do or die time for the SF Giants, and there's no time to waste.Find and follow Locked On Giants on your favorite podcast platforms:

This episode features an interview with Morgan Norman, Chief Marketing Officer at Dialpad. Previously, Morgan was a marketing executive at Copper, Zuora, NetSuite, and Microsoft. He has spent his career marketing for both startups to scale-ups and has helped companies grow to more than $1 billion in revenue. In this episode, Kailey sits down with Morgan to discuss the importance of onboarding, product-led growth models, and marketing AI products in a saturated market.-------------------Key Takeaways:Getting users to adopt AI is all about presenting them with features that work best for them. Instead of throwing all of the features at them, educate them on a few options that are interesting to them and will help their business thrive. When a user is moving to a PLG model, it's important to consider their cognitive load. In order to avoid overwhelming them, scale back the number of questions you're asking them and the number of decisions you're wanting them to make. Then, confirm with the user that they feel confident and successful in the choices they've made. When users are onboarding, you have to balance when to engage with them and when to let them learn the product on their own. Figure out what type of user they are, what segment, and what industry to decide which type of engagement will work best.-------------------“The way I really think about PLG, at the top level, is cognitive load. Are you overwhelming the user? How many decisions are you asking them to make? The first thing is to reduce the cognitive load as much as possible from a visual perspective and also a step perspective. The next piece on that is user confirmation. Confirming to the user that they've done the right thing and that they feel successful.” – Morgan Norman-------------------Episode Timestamps:*(02:19) - Morgan's career journey*(08:41) - How Dialpad is implementing AI*(19:25) - How PLG is being used to educate users and build marketing programs*(23:26) - How Morgan defines “good data”*(29:41) - How Dialpad is increasing conversion*(34:36) - An example of another company doing it right with customer engagement (hint: it's Airtable, monday, Asana)*(41:13) - Morgan's recommendations for upleveling customer experience strategies-------------------Links:Connect with Morgan on LinkedInConnect with Kailey on LinkedInLearn more about Caspian Studios-------------------SponsorGood Data, Better Marketing is brought to you by Twilio Segment. Take 10 with Tim – July 7, 2023 @ 8am1.For the second year in a row, Mike Trout misses a big chunk of the season. This year, it's a Hamate fracture, which many times will zap power for a while.
