What if the resurrection wasn't just a moment in history—but the turning point of your life? The death and resurrection of Jesus isn't just an annual reflection—it's the event that changed everything. In the Gospel of Mark, we meet four witnesses who reveal who Jesus is: a Roman soldier who calls Him the Son of God, a religious leader who buries Him as King, women who proclaim Him risen, and a young man in white who points to our hope of new life.    Jesus conquered the grave, breaks our sin cycles, and offers us restoration. By placing your faith and trust in Christ's hands, He offers a way out of shame and gives us a garment of new life and renewal. Listen in and discover how the risen Christ invites you into a new beginning.

In a way, it is as simple as that, but if we want to live lives liberated from the law and walk in the freedom of Christ, there are a few other steps we have to take. Today we continue in our message series in Galatians, Good News, diving into what it means to be free in Christ. Before we come to know Christ, we long to gratify our desires, our flesh. We live with internal passions to be fulfilled; every time we fulfill them, they grow. Once we have come to know Jesus and accepted Him as our Savior, we learn that those in Christ have crucified their flesh along with their passions and desires. Yet, we still may experience these desires from our old life. So, as we learn to walk with the Spirit, Jesus points out a few steps we should take as we walk alongside Him. We must recognize that we have an inner struggle that goes towards fulfilling our flesh, we should acknowledge the fruit that is growing in our life and put our flesh to death in Christ Jesus. When we walk with the Spirit and crucify our flesh, we will see godly attributes growing in our lives like love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Often this reversion happens because of our innate sin nature pushing us back into our old ways--but when we are in Christ we are called to freedom. Maybe you fall into the state of mind that you can be sufficient on your own and do it all on your own, Jesus deeply desires us to reject this thinking and stand firm in His freedom for us—the freedom of the Gospel. We are continuing in our Galatians series, Good News, studying the freedom from the law and security found in the Gospel. When we find ourselves going back to our old ways, habits, or sins, it's as if we are re-enslaving ourselves to the law and forfeiting our liberty in Jesus. Paul shows us that we lose the benefits of Christ, the scandal of the cross, and the motivation to love when we revert to the law and believe the lie that we can do it all on our own efforts. In some ways freedom is scary, we can find comfort in thinking that our faith is based on works, but Jesus is desiring us to know in deep ways that our faith is based solely by believing in the Gospel and accepting Christ as our Savior. Jesus saved us by grace alone, despite our flaws and shortcomings, He loves us deeply. We would be foolish to go back to the law and abandon a gracious Gospel and loving Father. So, how can we do this best as Christians? Our Metamorphosis series has been focused on transforming our minds to align with Christ, this week we will talk about anger and reframing our mindset on how we handle anger. James 1:19 states we should be “quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.” As we choose to deal with our anger lovingly, we should seek wisdom from scripture because Godly wisdom produces peace among people. Are we living in the last days? According to scripture, we are. The only thing holding back Christ's return is that His followers must continue to bring more and more to know Jesus. But it seems that many have fallen into apathy. With the truth that we are living in the last days, that statement should change the way we live and act. As we continue in our Metamorphosis series, this week we will address the issue of apathy. Our succumbing to apathy can go unnoticed, not realizing we have fallen into this frame of mind. When we are in Christ can we be ambitious? Maybe this question has crossed your mind, you've pondered whether you can have dreams or ambitions as you pursue Christ. But the picture of ambition that the world paints, is not one that Christians should imitate. So how do we reconcile our ambitions with godliness? In our message series, Metamorphosis, we are talking about transforming our minds with the word of God. Today, we will hear how our ambitions are welcomed in Christ, but we must submit them to God in an act of obedience to Him. Jesus had ambition, a ton of it. His ambitions were submitted to God, and He led them out with fervor—being the atonement for all. We have the chance to align our dreams and ambitions, just as Jesus did with God. When we submit them to God, He will exceed our expectations and align our desire with the desires of His own. We must put off worldly ambition and put on godly ambition. Listen further to the latest sermon of the series, as we learn what it means to see how God's work changes our ambition.

Before Jesus ascended into heaven after His resurrection, he brought all the disciples together as a sort of final commissioning. We have come to know this as the “great commission.” He told them to go and make disciples of all nations, teaching them to believe in Him. This was the mission of the disciples after Jesus took His place at the right hand of the Father and it is our mission as followers of His, today. We are beginning a two-week sermon series labeled, Reach: Where There is No Church, discussing the necessity to bring the Gospel to the ends of the Earth. The Gospel is the power of God for salvation to all who believe. Maybe you've asked the question, “How do we live out the Gospel to reach the world?” It can seem daunting to look out to a world in darkness and try to reach all who are lost, thank God that we are not alone in our journey; we have a family who are all a part of this commission. As believers, we should aim to live with a faith and longing to go, recognize the power for all who believe, and live unashamed of the Gospel. Join us in the first sermon of the series, Power of the Gospel, and walk in boldness as you proclaim the good news.

As Christians, it is our responsibility to share the Gospel. God's word makes it abundantly clear that our mission is to spread the Gospel. For some, sharing the Gospel is simple, for others it is nerve-wracking. At Woodside, we believe in making disciples, by reaching the world and our local communities with the saving grace of Christ. People everywhere desperately need Jesus. Spreading the Gospel should not be difficult or anxiety-driven, but rather an authentic conversation on faith and the need for Jesus. The book of Romans points out our need for Christ, why it is essential to share the Gospel, and where our salvation comes from. We see four truths from various chapters in Romans on a basic framework for sharing the Gospel. We see that all have sinned, all deserve judgment, God offers us grace, and that salvation comes through faith. Join us in a one-off sermon, Visiting the Romans Road: How to Share the Gospel.

This Mother's Day we recognize and celebrate the amazing women who have poured hours of time, energy, and love into each of our lives. It only seems fitting that as we close out our, What God Says About series we look at what God says about femininity. When Mother's Day rolls around you may find yourself asking the question, “how should I honor the mothers in my life?” Further than that, maybe you've thought about how to honor the women in your life. God's word is clear that it values women, and their role in the church, in families, and in the world. Proverbs 31 is one of the most highly quoted scriptures pointing to women's value and pricelessness. We see three important points from this chapter on how to honor the women in our lives. We should acknowledge her value, affirm her work, and applaud her character. Godly women are an essential part of the world, the church, and the home. As Christians, we work to honor God in all aspects of our lives, through our work, our words, in our friendships, so in our sex lives it is important we look to honor Him in that. We have been journeying through our What God Says About series. This week we tackle a topic that is not often talked about in the church—sex. Scripture has much to say about it though, so it seems important we discuss what God has to say. God makes it abundantly clear that sex was created to be shared within the covenant of marriage, as two become one. The stain of sin in this world has sadly tainted the view of sex, painting it in a way that one should explore their sexuality, rather than saving it for the scaredness of marriage. The Bible makes it clear that sex is a good gift from God, to be shared only in marriage. As we aim to honor God in our sex lives we see three truths within scripture—to delight in your spouse, honor wise boundaries, and understand the danger of adultery. Know that God extends grace to those who turn from their sin and walk away from patterns of sin. He will heal and restore anything that has been broken. Tune in to the latest sermon of our series, What God Says About Sex.

As Christians, it is important to honor God in all aspects of our lives, so it only seems obvious that we should look to Him for what He says about our work. Jobs take up most of our lives, it's where we spend most of our time. We are going through our series, What God Says About. This week we look at What God Says About Work. What we do matters to God. We are the representation of Christ, how we work reflects Him. Colossians 3:23 says we should “work heartily as for the Lord and not for men.” God commands us to work hard and to serve Him in all we do. In Proverbs, we find some examples of things that hinder us from fulfilling our call to work. There are three examples of obstacles we may face when it comes to work: laziness, distractedness, and selfishness. Proverbs 6 shows us that we have a calling to fulfill and that call is to work. We see in Genesis God giving Adam and Eve the call to tend to the garden and care for the animals. That was a privilege they held, given from God. Our tasks should be seen as an honor and our work as a privilege. Listen to the latest sermon of the series, What God Says About Work.

Our words hold a lot more power than we may realize. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.” How we speak to others truly matters. We jumped into a new sermon series, What God Says About, applying God's wisdom to everyday situations. In our everyday interactions with others, it can be easy to be flippant with our words—not realizing what we are truly saying until after we have said it. God is adamant on the fact that our words bring life and cause death. We should be mindful of how we speak to others, aiming to speak words of grace and encouragement; even speaking less and listening more. When we interact with our brothers and sisters in Christ, we should speak the truth and challenge one another. As we grow in Christ the Lord refines us, filtering out the destructive ways of the world and filling us with His wisdom. Join us in the next sermon of the series, What God Says About Words.

Have you ever wondered what God would have to say about certain topics? As we journey in our faith, questions arise, which may lead us to wonder what God would say. Our questions should prompt us to look to scripture. This Sunday we are diving into a new series, What God Says About, looking at the book of Proverbs to glean wisdom from about how to lean on God in the situations we face each day. To start off on a strong foundation, we will first look at what God has to say about wisdom. Why is wisdom so important, what does godly wisdom look like? Proverbs 3 tells us, the one who finds wisdom and understanding is blessed. Wisdom guides us in the decisions we make every day. As we seek Christ to be emulated in our lives, we should look to honor Him through our choices, who better to ask for wisdom from than Christ. For God's wisdom is supremely precious. It is by wisdom that we live a good life, that God created the world, and that we are protected.

How can we fully believe in God when we struggle with doubting Him? Or maybe you have been a skeptic, wondering why you should believe in God. This question sees more circulation around the Easter season, as the body of Christ celebrates the risen King. This Resurrection Sunday we are closing out our series, Believe, looking at the final week of Jesus' life. He isn't shocked by our questions; He is patient and willing to guide us to seek the truth. Jesus knows our doubts, He answers our fears, and He blesses our faith. In scripture, we see Thomas, one of the disciples, doubted Jesus. Jesus answered His doubt with truth and cared for Him as He wrestled with the questions. Jesus is ready and waiting for us. He has risen from the grave. He is alive and our belief in Him is alive! Join us this Easter Sunday in the last sermon of the series, Belief that is alive!
