Our study In Matthew chapter 12 begins in verse 1 with Dr. Mitchell here on the Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast. In the first 13 verses, Dr. Mitchell speaks to us concerning our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus has to rebuke the Pharisees for their critical attitude toward Jesus' disciples who were hungry and were picking and eating grain on the Sabbath day. Matthew records the words of the savior who needed to remind these Pharisees of the O.T. Scripture 1 Sam. 21:3-6. David the King did that was not lawful to do when he was hungry. He and his men ate consecrated bread. Our Lord Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath.Dr. Mitchell centers our attention on the real purpose of the sabbath. There was a distinct difference between the Pharisees and Jesus as to it's purpose. Let's turn to Matthew 12 with Dr. Mitchell.
When life feels out of control, and the wind and waves of sorrow and suffering are battering us, it is hard to trust that God is sovereign and watching. This week we will continue our series The Upside-Down Kingdom with Matthew 8:18-9:8. In it we will see the sovereign authority and power of Jesus over the natural world, the spiritual world and dark powers, sickness and death itself, and over the weight of sin that drags at our souls. Jesus, the Son of Man, is the One who has the power over all things. ------------------------------------------- Connect with us on Social Media Website | Instagram | Threads | Facebook | Vimeo------------------------------------------- Download our AppApple App Store | Google Play Store

The Portage church of Christ is a group of pre-denominational Christians that are striving to serve the Lord together. Our goal is to please God, and we believe that the best way to do that is to follow the pattern that was established by the churches in the first century and revealed in the New Testament. We have no creed or doctrine except the Bible and we follow the Bible only. We strive for unity in the teaching of New Testament doctrine. Our congregation is not part of, or subject to, any larger man-made religious organization. We are a completely autonomous congregation. We are locally governed, just as the church in the first century was. How does one becomes a member of this church congregation? The exact same way as seen in the Biblical accounts. On the day of Pentecost following Jesus' resurrection, people who repented and were baptized were saved (Acts 2:38) and the saved were added to the church (Acts 2:47). These saved people were members of the body, or church (Colossians 1:18). To become a Christian, the Bible teaches: Hear the gospel (Rom. 10:17) Believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God (John 8:24, 58, Heb. 11:6) Repent of past sins (Luke 13:3, 5) Confess Jesus as Lord (Matt. 10:32-33, Rom. 10:9-10) Be baptized for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38, Mark 16:16) Remain Faithful to Christ (Rev. 2:10, 2 Tim 4:7-8)
ISA63:9,16; 1Pe1:18-19 The Son of Man The Redeemer
Because Jesus is the Son of Man who is coming in glory to judge each person's work, we must live today as His people who take up our cross and follow Him. I. The Third Reason to Take Up Your Cross – Because Jesus is Coming to Judge the Earth! vv 24-26 II. When Jesus Comes Back in Glory He will Judge Each of Our Lives. v 27 III. In Luke 17:20–37, Jesus reveals two truths about the Kingdom of God—first, that it is already within us through faith, and second, that one day it will be revealed suddenly, like lightning across the sky. In this episode, we look at the warnings of Noah's days, the example of Lot's wife, and the words ‘one shall be taken, the other left.' Are we living ready for that moment? Join me as we prepare our hearts for the coming of the Lord. Maranatha!

Ready to Meet the Son of Man 1. Not ready 2. Made ready
We must put our complete trust in the Son of Man alone.
In this message from Revelation 1:1–20, we explore the powerful vision of Jesus Christ given to the Apostle John on the island of Patmos. Far from being just a mysterious prophecy, Revelation begins with a stunning portrait of Christ as Savior, Judge, and King. We'll see how John responds to this overwhelming vision—and how Jesus meets him with compassion and assurance. This passage reminds us that Christ is not distant; He is present among His people and holds the keys to life and death. Be encouraged and challenged as we encounter the risen Lord together.

So, settle in as we step through the Scriptures together, reflect on their meaning for our lives, and connect as one community under God's grace. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Over and over again in these readings, we hear God calling Ezekiel "Son of Man." It's a title weighted with meaning—a herald of God's judgment and the coming doom for a people entrenched in idolatry, injustice, and violence. Ezekiel stands as the mouthpiece announcing that captivity and exile are the results of turning away from God. The judgment is clear. The reckoning is near. But as we listen to these words, we remember that Jesus himself takes on this title, "Son of Man," most often in the gospels. Those who heard him say it would have recognized the reference to Ezekiel—the spokesman warning of wrath. Yet Jesus, our Son of Man, comes not as the messenger of judgment, but as the bearer of good news. God's fury—rightly deserved for sin and rebellion—will not ultimately fall on his people. Instead, every ounce of that wrath is poured out on the Son, Jesus, on the cross. The anger of God, the consequences for all evil, find their end in the sacrificial act of Jesus. In that moment of co-suffering love, death is defeated, its grip forever loosened. Jesus sets us free, leads us away from condemnation, and brings us into true life. Ezekiel was a prophet pointing to judgment—Jesus is a Savior heralding a far greater hope. The good news is that reconciliation with God is here for us, offered through Christ's sacrifice. We are invited to rest in what Jesus has done, to allow his liberating love to shape our lives and our future. He is the better Son of Man, inviting us out of exile and into the wide-open freedom of his kingdom. Let that be the posture of our hearts today: To listen, to rest in grace, to walk in freedom and to follow Jesus. That's the prayer I have for my own soul. That's my prayer for my family, for my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's my prayer for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Almighty and ever loving God, you have brought us to the light of a new morning. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may walk this day in peace. Guard our steps from temptation, shield us from the weight of fear and shame, and lead us deeper into the joy of your presence through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. O Christ, light of the nations, shine in every place where shadows dwell. Call the scattered home, Heal the wounds of division and gather all people into the communion of your grace. May the knowledge of the Lord cover the earth as the waters cover the sea. Amen. And now, Lord, make my hands ready for mercy. Make my eyes Quick to see the hurting. My ears open to the cry of the lonely, and my feet swift to bring good news. Let me seek to bless, not to be noticed, to serve, not to be praised, to forgive, not to hold back. For in your way is life, in your mercy is healing. And in your love is the peace this world cannot give. Amen. And now, as our Lord has taught us, we are bold to pray: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation. What does it truly mean to be found by Jesus? In this powerful message, Pastor Blake unpacks the Gospel of Luke, revealing Jesus as the divine burden-bearer who came for everyone—especially society's overlooked and outcast. Through compelling stories and Scripture, he challenges us to move beyond surface-level Christianity to authentic discipleship. Drawing from his own raw, honest encounter at a gas station, Pastor Blake illustrates how bearing others' burdens often comes at inconvenient moments but leads to beautiful Kingdom opportunities. Whether you're questioning your faith or seeking deeper purpose, this message offers fresh insight into Jesus' mission to "seek and save the lost." Don't miss this transformative exploration of what it means to be truly found by Christ and join His mission to find others.

MT13:44; COL2:2-3 The Son of Man and Treasure
HOW SERIOUSLY should Christians take a book that's not in the Bible, written thousands of years after the man it's named for, and has caused controversy in the church for the last 2,000 years? Of course, we're talking about the Book of Enoch—or, more accurately, the Book of 1 Enoch. (There are a 2 Enoch and 3 Enoch, both written during the Christian era. They really aren't of much use to Christians.) Dr. Judd Burton (www.BurtonBeyond.net), author of Interview with the Giant; Doug Van Dorn(www.douglasvandorn.com), author of Giants: Sons of the Gods; and Brian Godawa (www.Godawa.com), best-selling author of the theological thriller Cruel Logic and the new novels Judah Maccabee Parts 1 & 2, join us to discuss 1 Enoch and why it's attracted so much attention and generated so many arguments between Christians. We discuss the significance of the Book of 1 Enoch, exploring its structure, relevance, and the controversies surrounding its place in Christian theology. We explore 1 Enoch's connections to the New Testament, particularly the concept of the Son of Man, and its historical importance in shaping early Christian thought. The discussion also highlights the geographical context of the book and its influence on understanding biblical narratives.
While exiled in Babylon, the King adopts Daniel and his friends into his royal court, granting them privilege and power. All he asks for in exchange is total allegiance. The way Daniel deftly navigates serving the king while never compromising his service to the Real King serves as a bold inspiration for God's people. The stories of Daniel in exile also introduce us to the “Son of Man” through whom God will ultimately overpower all the evil kings of the world and bring life to all nations.
