Kate's story is one of deep transformation through Christ. From childhood, she carried the wounds of rejection and exposure to things no child should face. After her parents' divorce, she sought approval in relationships and substances, not realizing she was really searching for the love of God. When her marriage began to crumble, Kate discovered that her husband had become an idol in her life. In her brokenness, she surrendered fully to Jesus, and that is when everything changed. Today, Kate shares how God healed her heart, gave her a new identity in Him, and is teaching her to trust Him with her marriage. Her testimony will encourage you to stop striving, release control, and trust the Lord with every part of your life. As you listen, you'll be reminded that God heals hurting homes by first transforming one heart at a time. FRANKOPAN2.mp3 - Rise of Cities, Globalization, and Volcanic Effects (Thera and Okmok) Peter Frankopan | The Earth Transformed: An Untold History After 2200 BC, the rise of cities established long-range connections across Europe, Africa, and Asia, forming a globalized exchange system. Nomadic peoples were essential vectors for transporting goods, ideas, and technologies like bronze and cereals. Volcanic activity often caused major political consequences. The eruption of Thera may have triggered the variola virus (smallpox), killing millions. More critically, the Okmok eruption (43 BC) devastated the Nile floods essential for Egypt, causing famine and inflationary pressure. This ecological crisis fueled instability against Queen Cleopatra, enabling Octavian (Augustus) to conquer Egypt and establish the Roman Empire.
RANKOPAN6.mp3 - The Great Divergence, Coal Location, and Global Climate Shocks Peter Frankopan | The Earth Transformed: An Untold History The Great Divergence seeks to explain how Europe accelerated scientifically and technologically after 1500 to dominate global empires. A key factor was location: England benefited from coal fields situated close to London and easily transportable by sea, unlike China's distant resources. Climate shocks created opportunities for European powers. Severe famines and droughts in India (such as the 1770s Bengal famine that killed 30 million) shattered the Mughal state's ability to collect revenue, facilitating British control. Additionally, the 1783 Laki volcanic eruption caused a climate shock affecting Egypt's Nile, diverting Ottoman focus southward and enabling Catherine the Great to annex Crimea.
FRANKOPAN5.mp3 - Mosquito Empires, Slavery, and European Prosperity (17th–18th Centuries) Professor Peter Frankopan | The Earth Transformed: An Untold History The 17th–18th centuries saw "mosquito empires" where malaria limited European settlement, leading to West Africa being called the "white man's grave." The rise of transatlantic slavery was linked to disease resilience, as many West Africans carried genetic resistance to malaria, making them highly sought-after laborers in the Americas. New American crops like cassava boosted global calorie provision, freeing up labor. European prosperity, especially Britain's, was built on exploiting the Americas and Africa for resources and labor. Massive wealth extraction, such as Robert Clive's seizure of Bengal's treasury, cemented European power. Meanwhile, the decline of indigenous populations in the Americas resulted in substantial reforestation.
FRANKOPAN4.mp3 - The Medieval Warm Period, Viking Expansion, and Parallel Empires Professor Peter Frankopan | The Earth Transformed: An Untold History The Medieval Warm Period (950–1250 CE), marked by low volcanism, fostered environmental stability and large-scale human movement. This included Viking expansion into the North Atlantic, seeking new pastures and resources like walrus ivory. This colonization was often violent, relying on the enslavement and coercion of women from Ireland and Scotland for reproduction. In North America, the cosmopolitan city of Cahokia thrived for centuries before collapsing due to internal pressures like resource depletion and elite competition. Globally, several "power empires" (e.g., Chola, Abbasids) rose in parallel, reinforcing each other through trade and cultural exchange, such as the spread of Indian culture into Southeast Asia.
FRANKOPAN3.mp3 - The Roman Warm Period, Extractive Empires, and the Role of the Horse Peter Frankopan | The Earth Transformed: An Untold History The Roman Warm Period provided Rome with 300 years of environmental stability, enabling expansion and reliable economic planning. All empires are extractive powers, conquering land for resources and minerals. This stability ended abruptly in the 230s AD, ushering in decades of political crisis. The horse played a crucial, respected role, providing speed and military advantage through chariots. Central Asian nomads mastered horse breeding. The Huns exploited this mobility to dismantle the Roman Empire by breaking connections and causing rapid bureaucratic collapse. The source emphasizes that large empires are inherently brittle; single shocks like drought can shatter trade, leading to food shortages, compromised immune systems, and collapse.
FRANKOPAN8.mp3 - Unsustainable Modern Consumption and the Need for Knowledge Professor Peter Frankopan | The Earth Transformed: An Untold History This segment addresses modern civilization's unsustainable consumption. One cotton shirt requires 2,700 liters of fresh water—equivalent to two and a half years of drinking water for one person. The global fashion industry accounts for 10% of all greenhouse gas emissions. Global food waste is immense, with 930 million tons wasted annually, often due to consumer demands for "perfect" produce. Advanced civilization is described as brittle, relying on constant luck, and when failures occur, the most vulnerable suffer disproportionately. The author concludes that education is crucial to provide the knowledge necessary to understand these resource cycles and implement sustainable practices.
FRANKOPAN1.mp3 - The Holocene, Violent Events, and Climate Change Professor Peter Frankopan | The Earth Transformed: An Untold History The segment introduces The Earth Transformed, focusing on the Holocene and human responses to violent natural events. The collapse of the Laurentide ice dam changed global circulation patterns, warming the Northern Hemisphere and facilitating North American settlement. A massive Norwegian landslide created a tsunami that cut off Great Britain, later influencing British exceptionalism and naval investment. The discussion notes that social transformation hinges on calorie availability, allowing reduced labor input to be redirected toward other activities, creating social hierarchies and competition. New scientific data, including genomics, is transforming our understanding despite patchy historical records.
FRANKOPAN7.mp3 - The Age of Turbulence (1870–1920), Resource Extraction, and Global Migration Peter Frankopan | The Earth Transformed: An Untold History The Age of Turbulence (1870–1920) involved rapid technological growth (telegraph, refrigerated shipping) and intense extractive empire building. Empires monetized resources like rubber, transplanted from the Amazon and causing massive deforestation in the Malay Peninsula. Global economic integration meant US grain could be shipped to London more cheaply than Irish grain. While historical focus is often Eurocentric, migration in the Indo-Pacific region (e.g., India to Southeast Asia) exceeded transatlantic migration, creating current geopolitical sensitivities. British infrastructure in India, such as railroads, aimed primarily at administrative efficiency. Furthermore, irrigation projects often failed, causing soil salinity due to rapid water evaporation in high temperatures. Scientific awareness of global warming predated the 1883 Krakatoa eruption.

No single industry in the American economy relies more on immigrant labor than livestock and meat production. The shift began a half-century ago as the influence of labor unions, and wages, declined. Fred de Sam Lazaro reports on how this change has played out in one Minnesota community that witnessed a landmark strike 40 years ago. Tricia Rose Burt had done everything right, according to the way she was raised. She went to a “good school,” had a “good job” and all seemed to be going great on the surface. But inside, she was miserable and decided to make a change. She left her career in public relations, took classes at art school, and began to explore her own creativity in a way that, as she describes it, “filled her cup.” She's never been happier, and in this Blue Sky conversation, she'll explain how listeners might want choose to tap into their “inner artist” as well. Chapters: 00:00 Introduction to Tricia Rose Burt This chapter introduces Tricia Rose Burt, highlighting her journey from a conventional upbringing to a fulfilling creative career. It sets the stage for her story of transformation and how she helps others find their own path. 02:22 Overcoming Prescribed Paths Tricia discusses her upbringing in Tampa, Florida, where there was a ‘right way' to do things, leading her to feel miserable despite doing everything ‘correctly.' 05:04 The Art School Transformation Tricia shares how she transitioned from a career in public relations, which she disliked, to art school. A career counselor's advice and an initial art class led to a complete career and life change, reigniting a childhood spark for creativity. 08:05 Focusing on Process, Not Outcomes Tricia explains her current philosophy of focusing on the creative process rather than the outcome, a challenge for someone raised in an ‘overachieving household.' 12:36 No Time to Be Timid: Podcast Tricia discusses her podcast, ‘No Time to Be Timid,' and its message about embracing courage at any age. She emphasizes the pain of an uncreative life and encourages listeners to overcome obstacles to pursue their passions. 16:47 Integrating Creativity and Life Tricia advises listeners to integrate creativity into their daily lives rather than making drastic changes, sharing her own ‘dramatic' pivot to Ireland. She highlights the importance of a low overhead and finding joy in the creative process, contrasting it with exhausting unfulfilling work. 23:01 The Riskiest Thing: Playing It Safe Tricia introduces her ‘No Time to Be Timid' manifesto, starting with ‘The riskiest thing you can do is play it safe.' 25:54 Non-Linear Paths and Creativity's Value Tricia discusses the non-linear nature of life paths and how it allows for following curiosity, a contrast to her father's single career. She stresses that creativity is not frivolous, but essential for problem-solving and leading a fulfilling life, challenging the societal undervaluation of creative pursuits. 28:45 Constraints as Opportunities Tricia elaborates on ‘constraints are opportunities,' sharing how financial limitations in Ireland led her to create art from unconventional materials like tea bags. She provides examples of how constraints, whether financial or time-based, can spark creativity and innovation. 35:03 Embracing Failure for Growth Tricia discusses ‘failure is your friend,' explaining that setbacks offer valuable learning experiences and redirect paths. She shares a friend's perspective that ‘no' can be as good as ‘yes' and emphasizes asking ‘what happens if I do this?' in the creative process. 38:45 Courage in Community Tricia highlights the importance of ‘courage in community,' noting that fellow pilgrims provide support and understanding for creative individuals. 41:50 Make Art Now: The Power of Story Tricia passionately advocates for ‘make art now,' asserting that art and stories are vital for human connection, empathy, and overcoming demonization. She emphasizes that creativity isn't limited to ‘big A' art but encompasses everyday acts of making and connecting.

The online fitness and health coaching space looks nothing like it did in 2015. Back then, it was DVDs, celebrity trainers, and maybe the occasional eBook. Fast forward a decade, and suddenly every scroll on TikTok or Instagram shows a new “coach,” challenge, or quick-hit plan. In this episode, I'm breaking down: How online coaching shifted from DVDs and blogs → to Instagram eBooks → to TikTok subscriptions. Why the 2020 lockdown years changed the industry forever. The pros and cons of today's online coaching boom. How to find real structure in a space that can feel overcrowded and noisy. Because at the end of the day, your results don't come from the trendiest app or influencer. JOIN THE 7 DAY RESET - ▶️ www.therebuiltman.com/7dayreset It's been 2,420 days since the last time I looked at porn. That single decision didn't just change my life, it gave me peace, clarity, focus, and freedom I never thought possible. In this episode of The Rebuilt Man, I'm pulling back the curtain on exactly what shifted in me, and the same frameworks that have helped over 1,700 men break free and rebuild their lives. Here's what you'll learn today: Why trying to “just quit” never works and the real shift that leads to lasting freedom. How surrounding yourself with the right men will pull you up to a higher standard. Why fulfillment is never found in getting, but in giving. The handful of daily habits that will rewire your brain and transform your life. If you're tired of relapsing, sick of shame, and ready to step into the man God created you to be, this is for you. Key Takeaways You don't beat porn by quitting a behavior—you beat it by becoming a new man. Brotherhood and accountability are non-negotiable. Alone, you'll stay stuck. Porn makes men selfish. Marianne Power is the author of Love Me, a book chronicling her journey to reclaim her sexuality and confidence through exploring tantra and workshops on intimacy. Marianne shares her initial hesitation when first invited to a tantra retreat, describing it as terrifying, especially given her Irish Catholic upbringing and years of feeling disconnected from her sexuality. However, curiosity and a desire for deeper self-understanding led her to attend, and despite her fears, it became a life-changing experience. She recounts her first retreat with tantra teacher Jan Day, whom I have interviewed for the podcast previously, where she faced exercises that challenged her preconceptions about touch, intimacy, and vulnerability. From walking toward strangers and making eye contact to simply saying "yes" or "no" to touch, she learned to confront insecurities and discover her true desires. For Marianne, the experience wasn't just about sex; it was about reconnecting with her body, understanding her boundaries, and realizing that others shared similar fears and struggles.Through this journey, Mary Ann also explored other tools and perspectives, such as reading The Ethical Slut, which helped her embrace a non-traditional lifestyle of "friends and lovers." She's now confident that happiness doesn't have to follow the societal script of marriage and children. Writing her book allowed her to share this message openly, despite initial fears about how her family and friends might react. She found that being honest about her experiences has inspired others to reconsider their own paths to intimacy and self-acceptance.Looking ahead, Marianne continues living her unconventional life while working on her next book, Pay Me, which will explore her relationship with money and financial struggles. Her journey serves as a reminder that it's never too late to explore intimacy, challenge societal expectations, and live authentically. Whether through tantra workshops, self-help books, or simply honest conversations, Marianne's story demonstrates that reinvention is possible - no matter what your age! Dr. Peter Altman, President and CEO of BioCardia, is focused on treating ischemic heart failure and chronic myocardial ischemia using autologous cells from the patient's bone marrow. The company has developed a cost-effective model that utilizes a pre-procedure diagnostic to select the optimal patients for this point-of-care system, which processes their cells in a single procedure. A key technology is the Helix catheter system, which enables minimally invasive delivery of cells into the heart, aided by the Heart3D Fusion imaging platform that provides a 3D map for precise cell delivery. Peter explains, "BioCardia's focus is on ischemic etiology of heart disease. This is heart disease that results from poor perfusion, typically following, for example, a heart attack, which is an ischemic disease. And the two diseases we're working on are ischemic heart failure, which is often characterized by a large dilated heart. And in the second is chronic myocardial ischemia, which is characterized by what's called refractory angina or chest pain that actually can be incredibly severe. And so are our focus areas. And we're advancing cell therapies that have been shown to inherently improve the cells we're looking at, which are cells from the bone marrow space, the mononuclear cells that contain the CD34 and CD133 cell populations. Instead of selecting the cells and then manufacturing in a remote facility, we have a pre-procedure diagnostic that enables us to select the patients who have appropriate cells and then process them with a point-of-care cell processing platform, which involves just a simple disposable cartridge. They're actually involved in forming new microvasculature and supply." "What we've done is come at it from a different perspective. Weekly Messages from Courageous Church in Salt Lake City, Utah
For about a millennium and a half, between 250 BC and A.D. 1200, India was a confident exporter of its own diverse civilizations, creating an empire of ideas, to a world that was a willing and eager recipient of a startlingly comprehensive mass transfer of Indian soft power. From religion such as Buddhism to mathematics that introduced the idea of zero, infinity, algebra, trigonometry to astronomy that proposed a spherical earth rotating on its own axis and trade, that Pliny the Elder complained drained the wealth of Rome into Indian pockets, Indian ideas infected the world. In The Golden Road, William Dalrymple, draws on a lifetime of scholarship to give a name to the spread of Indian ideas that transformed the world. From the largest Hindu temple in the world at Angkor Wat to the Buddhism of China, from the trade that helped fund the Roman Empire, to the creation of the numerals we use today, Dalrymple shares the soaring history of how India transformed the culture and technology of the ancient world, and in doing so, the world today as we know it. About the Speaker William Benedict Hamilton-Dalrymple CBE, is a noted historian and best-selling author of nine books; the most recent, The Anarchy, was a finalist for the Cundill History Prize and one of Barack Obama's favorite books of 2019. In Session 5 of The Abundant Spirit-Filled Life, Marian Jordan Ellis unpacks sanctification—the Holy Spirit's ongoing work to make us more like Jesus. From Matthew 5 (“You are the light of the world”) to Galatians 5 (the fruit of the Spirit), Marian shows how God's Spirit empowers everyday obedience—patience with a long fuse, kindness in action, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness (strength under control), and Spirit-led self-control.You'll learn how:The Spirit restores us to our original purpose—to reflect God's glory (Gen 1; Matt 5:14–16).We are made perfect in Christ and being made holy (Hebrews 10:14).Abiding in Scripture is the Spirit's primary tool for transformation (John 17:17; Romans 12:2).“Beholding” Jesus leads to “becoming” like Him (2 Corinthians 3:17–18).If you're weary of striving, this message will help you trade self-effort for Spirit-empowered living—so your life shines for God's glory.
