In 2015, our reasonably "normal" life came to a sudden halt when I found myself unable to move as usual. I was 23 years old at that time, a wife to an incredible husband, and a mom to a busy baby boy of 11-months old. I remember the morning it seemed life got paused; when my right foot did not want to brake properly when I was driving. My foot refused to remain still when I was moving it from the petrol- to brake pedal. I knew something was seriously wrong, and we booked a consultation at a nearby physician, and after some discussion he proceeded with the tests. The MRI ordered showed massive lesions in my brain, and the lumbar puncture was positive for the antibodies they were looking for. They told us that my antibodies were attacking my myelin sheaths covering the nerves in my brain. So after the diagnosis by a neurologist in Gauteng, I was labelled to be a sufferer of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). With this "dreaded disease", the expectations were clear. The prognosis was that within 8-10 years, I could expect to be in a wheelchair. A grim prospect at any stage of life, but especially when there were still so many reasons to use my legs. Can these dry bones live? Oh yes, they can. By speaking life. Prophesying the Words that Abba spoke over us. That is why we need to seek Him within this, and as we seek Him and His words, He breathes His life into us. The Ruach; Spirit and breath of life. Our dry bones (our mere flesh) come alive, and we become a living soul, led by the spirit, not by the flesh. Walking by the flesh leads to dry bones. Walking by the Spirit with His breath within us, brings Life! Retah McPherson is firstly a daughter of the most high King, a wife, a mother to two sons, and an author. In 2004, Retah and her family were involved in a near fatal car accident. Aldo, their eldest son, sustained a serious brain injury that left him in a coma for months afterwards. It was during that time that he had a supernatural encounter with God in heaven and came back with a message: "Mommy, I need to tell the world that Jesus is alive." This incident ignited a flame within Retah and her family's hearts, for the bride of Christ to prepare herself for the Bridegroom. They wrote numerous books with this message as the foundation. Retah also travels the world as a Christian Public Speaker proclaiming the coming of the King of kings. On this podcast we spoke about; becoming better or bitter in seasons of hardship surrendering every area of our lives because we trust Him training your spirit man with diligence and allowing our Faithful Father to use trauma for our good and for His kingdom. We also spoke about being citizens of Heaven, maturing in our walk with Yeshua and seeking the Father more and more. A man's heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps. I think all Christians can agree masculinity as a whole is under heavy attack. How much more biblical masculinity. The Enemy has launched a head on onslaught with believer and in particular men of the faith. Today, I talk to Jaco Bekker. He has had over a decade of experience in men's ministry. I am sure listeners will find Jaco's advice helpful and edifying. Jaco also shares some inspiration and hopeful testimonies. I want to encourage our female audience to forward this episode to any man that they love and care for. To check out the blog Jaco Bekker wrote on restoring masculinity, click here. We dug through the mud with our bare hands. Dirt tightly hugged our finger nails as we went on a quest to seek out sweet potatoes and black potatoes originally planted by the owners of the house we are currently renting. Each potato found, filled my and the children's hearts with delight. It was our first time doing this type of venture. Oh, how much fun we had. We placed each one neatly in a basket, cut off some spinach, celery, spring onions and red peppers- all fresh from the garden. The little ones sat on the porch under the winter shadow of the grapevine and gently washed each treasured vegetable. Then I cut up all the gatherings in cubes. And roasted it with garlic and rosemary. It was such a pleasant meal, hand picked, filled with love, shared by my precious ones. If these little moments that fill our beings with so much glee, form treasured memories, how much more His word, our soul's most treasured hope.
