Today, we will look at the testimony of Sha'ul or Paul and his spiritual transformation on the road to Damascus from a rabbinical student of Gamaliel to a Sent One of Mashiach Yeshua and the House of Tzadok. In the Book of Acts chapters 9 and 22, Sha'ul or Paul was sure of what he saw and what he heard while he was traveling down from Jerusalem on the road to Damascus; the desert settlement of the Qumran Community House of Tzadok situated along the northwest shores of the Salt Sea or the Dead Sea. Four known biblical personalities knew the place well: the Prophet Jeremiah, Yochanan (John), the Immerser (the "Baptizer"), the Prophet Isaiah, and the Apostle Paul. Jeremiah 9:2-3. Oh, that I had in the wilderness (aravah)—A lodging place for travelers; that I might leave my people, and go from them! For they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men. And the road of their tongue is their lying bow (Hebrew: keshet; an allusion to corrupting Yah's Covenant of Genesis 9:12-14). They are not valiant for The Truth on the earth. For they proceed from evil to evil, and they do not know me," says Yehovah. Matthew 3:1-2. In those days, Yochanan (John) the Immerser (the "baptizer") came preaching in the wilderness (Hebrew: midbar and aravah) of Judea and saying, "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near!" Isaiah 40:3. The voice of one crying, "In the wilderness (Hebrew: midbar) prepare The Way of Yehovah; make straight in the desert (Hebrew: aravah) a highway for our God. Acts 9:1-2. Then Sha'ul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of Adonai, The Master, went to the high priest and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of The Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. Love and Torah – what's love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor. In this final episode Rabbi Steve Berkson moves to the 17th chapter of the Gospel according to John. This is where we we see Messiah Yeshua praying to His Father for those whom He chose and discipled to continue the work that He started. Then moving to Deuteronomy chapter 30, Rabbi Berkson shows us that the plan of Elohim was to exile His people to other nations because of their disobedience, but that they would be regathered and once again do the commandments they were given which included loving their Elohim. In Matthew 24 we see how a lawless generation devolves into love turning cold. Do not be deceived by false prophets who would tell you Torah is not for today or you could fall into the lawless category, thinking you have a relationship with Messiah and the Father, but coming up short at the end. And finally, Rabbi Berkson takes us to Roman 8:28 to show us how Love is connected to Torah-keeping as the verse says, “all things work together for the good…”Rabbi Berkson once again dissects these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Join and help us as we consider topics and words to use to bring our friends and family gently to the truth that they may not be receiving the fullness of the Word of YHVH from their Sunday services. The riches of the Word, barely scratched at our study, are often glossed over completely at traditional church service, as they correctly focus primarily on the unsaved. We are going to embark on a journey to look at ideas verses and words to share in hopes of waking some up to the possibility that YHVH has so much more for them (us) than they (we) may know, and as the day draws near it is becoming ever more important to more fully and accurately represent some of the depth of His Word. Simply by examining the context and content of each verse can often open a new world of meaning. We must also be aware of who is speaking and to whom are they speaking; for instance many believe that the Sermon on the Mount was given to the multitudes following Y'shau, but that is not true: reread Matthew 5:1-2, He spoke to the disciples only. It is often helpful to consider the background culturally and personally, and of the particular situation and the speaker, and to consider why the speaker said the things they said. We know that the Words of Scripture were not written in modern American English and as such it is pretty important to understand the words in the original language and context, so some investigation of both Hebrew and Greek is inevitable and necessary to further our understanding. Some verses will require a little outside research. For instance, we can know pretty much exactly when Y'shua was born as we are given a direct time line in scripture from the courses or serving times of the priests. But those dates are not directly listed in the pages of Scripture some a tiny bit of research is needed to determine when the priest of the course of Abaiayu (Father of Yah) served to find the exact date of the birth of Y'shau and, as it turns out, of Yocanon (John the Baptist) also.

Love and Torah – what's love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor.Picking up where we left off in the Gospel of John chapter 15, Rabbi Steve Berkson picks up in verse 16 where he explains how Yeshua has chosen us to be a part of His work here on the earth. Even though at that time He was talking directly to His disciples, giving them instruction before He was about to be killed, His words can apply to us today if we will allow ourselves to be discipled through His Holy Spirit and produce the fruit He expects to see.All of what Rabbi Berkson has unpacked from John 15 is about love for one another in the way the Father expects us to love. We are called and chosen so that we are no longer a part of the world and its ways. As we pull away from the world to follow Messiah and live according to Torah we will experience a disdain from others who do not understand Messiah or why we choose to follow Him.Rabbi Berkson once again dissects these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Love and Torah – what's love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor.Continuing in the book of 1 John, Rabbi Steve Berkson begins this teaching in chapter 5 where John tells us that belief in Messiah Yeshua and all that carries with it does not come from us, but that belief or knowledge and relationship has been birthed in us from above. In verses 2 and 3 Rabbi Berkson points out that, again, love is connected to Torah Observance and that the commandments of Yahweh are not heavy or burdensome. In verse 4 John calls us who believe, overcomers. Having been born of Elohim and given the ability to have a relationship with Messiah Yeshua we overcome the world through that belief. Rabbi Berkson clarifies what overcoming the world looks like – we see things and respond to challenges in our lives differently than the way the world does.Moving on, Rabbi Berkson takes us to the Gospel of John, same writer, different book, to link what we learned from 1 John with what is being conveyed in the gospel writing. Yeshua speaks metaphorically of the relationship we have with Him and the Father by using vines and branches and a gardener who takes care of the whole thing.Rabbi Berkson once again dissects these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Amin. (Dod).

This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor. In the review of the last episode, Rabbi Berkson cautions about deceptive teachers as John also cautioned in 1 John 4:1. This deception is at work today in some faiths in that they are actually a “World System mixed with Truth”. As Rabbi Berkson points out, some people have a tough time hearing the message from the Word of Elohim because it's not delivered in a way that matches their predetermined ideas of how it should be dispensed. The teachers in this system are also guarded in what they say and how they say it because of being more concerned with offending people than with pleasing Elohim. In 1 John 4:7 Rabbi Berkson begins this teaching by explaining how we are to love each other who are of the same mind in Messiah. He explains the if we can't love each other, how can we extend any love outside of ourselves and to those whom Elohim would want to have in covenant with Him.In verse 9 the word ‘manifest' is used and Rabbi Berkson wants to make sure the definition of that word does not get lost in any previous understanding we may have. The word ‘manifest' means to be revealed to the seeing eye. Messiah is manifested through us as we live through Him, not the other way around, loving others as He would love them.Rabbi Berkson once again dissects these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Love and Torah – what's love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor.Returning to the letter of 1 John, Rabbi Steve Berkson begins this teaching in chapter 3. He proclaims how wonderful it is that Yahweh is pleased to call us His children. Rabbi Steve goes on to say that because the world does not understand Yahweh, they will not understand us either. But we understand Yahweh because He has chosen to reveal Himself to us by opening our eyes and our ears. The day is coming when Messiah appears we will understand completely because as John puts it, we shall be like Him. Rabbi Berkson once again dissects these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Love and Torah – what's love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor. From the first nine verses of the book of John, chapter 14, Rabbi Steve Berkson shows us how Messiah Yeshua was the “ultimate expression of discipleship” under His Father. So we should, as followers of Messiah, be as such so that others will see Yeshua represented in us and ultimately see the Father. What did Yeshua do? He walked out the Torah-observant life perfectly. He invites us to do what He did, and He provides help in sending His Spirit. What's in a name? Yeshua says, “if you ask whatever in My Name…” Does this mean if His Name is invoked, like a magic genie He has to do one's bidding? Rabbi Steve clarifies what Messiah meant when He told us to use His Name.Rabbi Berkson once again dissects these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. Psalms and Wisdom: Psalm 113 Psalm 113 (Listen) Who Is like the Lord Our God? 113   Praise the LORD!  Praise, O servants of the LORD,    praise the name of the LORD! 2   Blessed be the name of the LORD    from this time forth and forevermore!3   From the rising of the sun to its setting,    the name of the LORD is to be praised! 4   The LORD is high above all nations,    and his glory above the heavens!5   Who is like the LORD our God,    who is seated on high,6   who looks far down    on the heavens and the earth?7   He raises the poor from the dust    and lifts the needy from the ash heap,8   to make them sit with princes,    with the princes of his people.9   He gives the barren woman a home,    making her the joyous mother of children.  Praise the LORD! (ESV) Pentateuch and History: 2 Kings 21 2 Kings 21 (Listen) Manasseh Reigns in Judah 21 Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Hephzibah. 2 And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to the despicable practices of the nations whom the LORD drove out before the people of Israel. 3 For he rebuilt the high places that Hezekiah his father had destroyed, and he erected altars for Baal and made an Asherah, as Ahab king of Israel had done, and worshiped all the host of heaven and served them. 4 And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, “In Jerusalem will I put my name.” 5 And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD. 6 And he burned his son as an offering1 and used fortune-telling and omens and dealt with mediums and with necromancers. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking him to anger. 7 And the carved image of Asherah that he had made he set in the house of which the LORD said to David and to Solomon his son, “In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever. 8 And I will not cause the feet of Israel to wander anymore out of the land that I gave to their fathers, if only they will be careful to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the Law that my servant Moses commanded them.” 9 But they did not listen, and Manasseh led them astray to do more evil than the nations had done whom the LORD destroyed before the people of Israel. Manasseh's Idolatry Denounced 10 And the LORD said by his servants the prophets, 11 “Because Manasseh king of Judah has committed these abominations and has done things more evil than all that the Amorites did, who were before him, and has made Judah also to sin with his idols, 12 therefore thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing upon Jerusalem and Judah such disaster2 that the ears of everyone who hears of it will tingle. 13 And I will stretch over Jerusalem the measuring line of Samaria, and the plumb line of the house of Ahab, and I will wipe Jerusalem as one wipes a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down. 14 And I will forsake the remnant of my heritage and give them into the hand of their enemies, and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies, 15 because they have done what is evil in my sight and have provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came out of Egypt, even to this day.” 16 Moreover, Manasseh shed very much innocent blood, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another, besides the sin that he made Judah to sin so that they did what was evil in the sight of the LORD. 17 Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh and all that he did, and the sin that he committed, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? 18 And Manasseh slept with his fathers and was buried in the garden of his house, in the garden of Uzza, and Amon his son reigned in his place. Amon Reigns in Judah 19 Amon was twenty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Meshullemeth the daughter of Haruz of Jotbah. 20 And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, as Manasseh his father had done. 21 He walked in all the way in which his father walked and served the idols that his father served and worshiped them. 22 He abandoned the LORD, the God of his fathers, and did not walk in the way of the LORD. 23 And the servants of Amon conspired against him and put the king to death in his house. 24 But the people of the land struck down all those who had conspired against King Amon, and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his place. 25 Now the rest of the acts of Amon that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? 26 And he was buried in his tomb in the garden of Uzza, and Josiah his son reigned in his place. Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father'? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? You know him, for he dwells with you and will be7 in you. 18 “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while and the world will see me no more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. 21 Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” 22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, “Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24 Whoever does not love me does not keep my words. And the word that you hear is not mine but the Father's who sent me. 25 “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. 28 You heard me say to you, ‘I am going away, and I will come to you.' If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take place you may believe. 30 I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship for a two-part look at parsha 'Vayishlach,' (Genesis/Bereshiet 32:4 through chapter 36) and the next part of the story of the life of Yakov, or Jacob, when he begins his long return trip but faces some VERY large challenges along the way, including has brother Esau (is he still angry after two decades?) and what looks like an army of 400 men. But, even still, there is more to it than that. And it's arguably a battle -- on a number of fronts -- that we still face. First, the Erev Shabbat overview of the entire portion: https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/hebrewnation/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/20130827/SSM-11-19-21-Vayishlach-teaching-podcast-x.mp3 Yakov is again identified with 'emet,' or 'truth,' in verse 11 of this first chapter of the parsha. But again, another prominent aspect of his life has to do with 'struggle.' And that struggle is on multiple fronts, with at least two differnt emotional reactions to examine. This is a parsha that, once again, REALLY speaks to us in a time of struggle. Yakov even was said to have struggled with Yah. This week, he struggled, "with man and with Elohim." Later in the portion, we see that he speaks with Yah, and is renamed "Isaac," but for a SECOND time. Why twice? And just who, or Who, did he wrestle with that first time? The questions here should help us understand not only THAT struggle, that didn't end in death the next day, but evidently never ended at ALL, and how so much of Yakov's struggle then remains something we "wrestle" with today, at minimum. Love and Torah – what's love got to do with it? This study series is based on the “Two Great Commands” – love Yahweh and love your neighbor. To refresh our minds and hearts, Rabbi Steve Berkson brings us again to 1 John chapter 1 to expound on the meaning of who Messiah Yeshua is and what He should be to all of us which is life, light, and truth. That through this understanding we should do our utmost to live in the light, having fellowship with Elohim and with each other. This fellowship is achievable only through living in covenant with Elohim in which is only light and no darkness at all.In chapter 2 of 1 John, Rabbi Berkson starts with revealing the number one problem, according to him, in the Body of Messiah today.• How can you know that you know Messiah?• How is the love of Elohim ‘perfected' in you?• What is a ‘stumbling block'? How does it affect your life and walk?• What is meant by “do not love the World nor that which is in it”?• Are we in the “Last Hour”?• What is an ‘anti-messiah'?• Why did John say, “and you know all…”?• What happens when someone rejects Torah?• How do you know that you are “born of Him”?You can only understand Love and Torah when you can understand how light and darkness can influence and work in your life.Rabbi Berkson once again dissects the words in these passages so that you will have a deeper understanding of what Yah expects of you, so that you can do it and receive the blessings.Don't miss out on new teachings every week. November 17: Covenant Families.Psalms 68:1-12:Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered; let those also who hate Him flee before Him. As smoke is driven away, so drive them away; as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God. But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God; yes, let them rejoice exceedingly. Sing to God, sing praises to His name; extol Him who rides on the clouds, by His name Yah, and rejoice before Him. A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation. God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; but the rebellious dwell in a dry land. O God, when You went out before Your people, when You marched through the wilderness, Selah the earth shook; The heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God; Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel. You, O God, sent a plentiful rain, whereby You confirmed Your inheritance, when it was weary. Your congregation dwelt in it; You, O God, provided from Your goodness for the poor. The Lord gave the word; great was the company of those who proclaimed it: “Kings of armies flee, they flee, and she who remains at home divides the spoil. This is a psalm that expresses the greatness of God, praising all the qualities of God as Father, as protector, defender, provider and caregiver, always attentive to the needs of His children, protecting them and delivering them from dangers, injustices, giving them relief when the earth has needed water to produce food, defending the most defenseless from suffering such as the widows, the poor, the orphans, the homeless and the captives. The verse that has caught my attention the most is the verse that says: "God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity”.What a beautiful detail the psalmist wrote! This quality of God as the One who has compassion for all, who does not lose any detail of the need of each person, and in this case, of the one who is alone. Such a basic and essential need but that goes unnoticed because each one is involved with their own family, relatives and friends, but that at the end of the day, the loner spends the night alone. If he falls ill, he has no one to take care of him; if he suffers, no one notices, but God is so good that He has formed a large family to welcome the lonely! When it was time to celebrate the greatest feast in Israel, the Passover, God established in law that to celebrate it everyone had to gather with their family to eat the lamb offered as an offering to the Lord. The lamb was to be shared by all and nothing was to be left over. But if that family calculated that they would have a lot left over, they should invite someone to their home. It could be another small family or, in this case, neighbors who lived alone. In this way the solitary was adopted that day to celebrate with a family and not feel isolated and alone in the great celebration. Today we are going to worship God, the Lamb who takes away the sins of the world, in our meetings in the temple, and there we lovingly welcome the one who is spiritually and emotionally helpless and alone. Those who don't have a direction and have not understood the purpose of their lives, who come to the feet of God and the church adopts them as brother or sister in Christ, and we begin to walk together so that they grow and strengthen their spiritual lives. In the great family of God many have found a spiritual father, a mother, a brother and a sister; they have filled that emptiness that they had in their hearts and they have filled that sense of belonging that they longed for so much in their hearts. The church is the great family of God that has made a covenant with the Almighty, whom we call Savior and also Father. He who has adopted us and told us: “You are my son, today I have begotten you.”"The apostle John said it well in John 1:12-13: “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”Consider:Have you felt alone?Have you found a place of belonging? If not, what are you waiting for to find and get closer to a family?Contact us and we can help you find a close family in the city where you are. I am your friend and brother Eduardo Rodríguez. May our Heavenly Father listen to your prayer today. Don't forget to read the entire chapter. Have you realized we struggle to be good Neighbors these days! We used to welcome people into our homes with a smile!  Now it's a federal offense when we don't text before coming over! What does it look like to be a Neighbor!? Neighbors see the “other” half. – Luke 10:30.   The bible says that the bandits left the man “Half dead”.  Profound!   One of the problems the Priest and Levites had was that they were “Half sighted”! Yah, half sighted!   You may have heard of a condition called, far sighted? You see things far away better than close up?   Maybe you have heard of a condition called, near sighted? You see things better close up than far away?   Both of those are natural conditions. There is a spiritual condition that can affect our sight to .... Called HALF SIGHTED!   Half sightedness will cause you to see the half of people that is dead and ignore the half that's not!  God is calling us to be a church that looks at people and sees the other half! – NEIGHBORS SEES THE OTHER HALF!

Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship for a two-part look at parsha 'Vayetze,' (Genesis/Bereshiet 28:10 through 32:3) and the story of the life of Yakov, or Jacob, after he leaves home and begins to become the father of what will become the twelve tribes of Israel. But there is, of course, far more to it than that. First, the Erev Shabbat overview of the entire portion: https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/hebrewnation/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/13193941/SSM-11-12-21-Vayetze-teaching-podcast-xx.mp3 Yakov is often identified with 'emet,' or 'truth,' as Mark mentioned during last week's teaching. But there another prominent aspect of his life has to do with 'struggle.' And while the struggles we face today may seem quite different, the opposite is far closer to being true. This is a parsha that merits a close look for that reason alone. Yakov even was said to have struggled with Yah. And somehow that appears to even be something for which he was praised in Scripture. Still, Yahushua warned that the path that we should walk is "narrow," and "few there be that find it." That sounds like it might describe a struggle as well. And, no doubt about it, the coming collapse of "Biblical proportions," the attempt to foment a destructive 'civil war,' and coerce millions to commit 'suicide by injection' - or worse - is setting us all up for a struggle unlike anything we have ever known. So isn't that enough reason to understand Who and what we should REALLY be struggling against? Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship for a two-part look at parsha (Vayera, Gen/Bereshiet chapters 18 through 22) where some of the arguably most important events in the Torah play out, and then prefigure events that will again play out, even in the same place. First, the Erev Shabbat overview of the entire portion: https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/hebrewnation/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/23141017/SSM-10-22-21-Vayera-teaching-podcast-xxx.mp3 The Sabbath Day teaching focuses on Abraham the prophet, and not only the man of faith. Mark begins with a 'quandry.' Abraham's "Binding of Isaac," aka 'the Akieda' is often cited as the ultimate 'proof text' of faith. "Now I know," said YHVH, that you fear Yah, and, "have not withheld your son, your only son from Me." (Gen. 22:12) And yet, he can argue, it's completely logical for Abraham to KNOW, with complete certainty, that the 'son of promise' is NOT going to die on that mountain - one way or another! - because the things Abraham by this point KNOWS of a CERTAINTY WILL HAPPEN, will come through him. In other words, what some call "human sacrifice" was never even a remote possibility; Abraham just didn't know how He would accomplish the miracle he was certain would happen. So, no wonder Abraham spoke with such certainty to his servants: "Ya'll stay here a while; the lad and I are gonna go up yonder to worship, we'll be back..." Which leads to the central question for this week: Yes, Abraham was certainly a consummate 'man of faith'. He showed that many times. But after all, he had SPECIFIC PROMISES, right from the very mouth of Yahuah Almighty Himself. But how 'bout us? We certainly have specific promises, albeit conditional, in His Word. And they clearly apply to each of us. But NOT in the same sense that Abraham was able to KNOW that his son Yitzak - he just didn't know exactly HOW! - was going to come back with him. After all, he had multitudes to father through the line of his seed. We don't have THOSE kind of 'specifics'. The answer, Mark suggests, has a lot to do with something ELSE we know about Abraham, but tend to overlook. And it may even help us to move mountains. Or deal with what's coming. After all, how else could we possibly do even "greater works than these"?
