At the recent British Association of Sports & Exercise Medicine (BAsem) conference, the world's most respected journal in sports science - the British Journal of Sports Medicine (BJSM) - openly promoted a presentation done on the trans issue by the author of the controversial book Open Play: The Case For Feminist Sport, Dr Sheree Bekker. In the presentation, Bekker challenges the ideas around transgender sporting advantage despite irrefutable scientific evidence to the contrary raising the question of whether the BJSM has failed in its mandate to support robust scientific content. Season 2, Episode 14 of Behind the Beard! In today's episode, Mackenzie and Coach Bobby delve into the recent match against Valour and look ahead to their upcoming clash with Atlético Ottawa. Coach Bobby also explores how different playing styles can influence the interpretation of statistics. To wrap up, Mackenzie quizzes Coach Bobby on which sports Forge FC players might excel in if they competed in the Olympics.Key Takeaways:Overall, Coach Bobby was pleased with Forge's performance but emphasized the need for more clinical finishing and increased strategic attacking patterns.Forge demonstrated their ability to come back from a deficit, although Coach Bobby noted that they were chasing the game in ways that were unnatural for them.Borges' goal was executed exactly as planned, involving Kwasi's run, Borges' movement off a defender, and Bekker's precise delivery.By the 75th minute, Garv was the only defender remaining in his original position; substitutions were made as Alex excels at penetrating lines, Cisse is naturally an attacking defender, and Malik provides defensive stability.Forge had 11 corners compared to Valour's 1, which Bobby highlighted as an indicator of their maintained forward momentum.Bobby attributes much of Atlético Ottawa's success this season to the positive energy they started with and acknowledges the pressure they face being at the top of the table midway through the season.Chapters:0:00 Generational differences…2:25 Ping Pong in the locker room3:10 Forge FC & travel 5:00 Valour Reflections8:00 Attacking Motions10:00 Changing the Backline 12:00 Corners!!!13:30 Atletico's Success15:00 Context & Stats17:51 Bobby's Suspension19:00 Forge OlympicsForge Audio NetworkThe Forge Audio Network provides Forge FC fans with the most comprehensive, entertaining and informative news and information about their favourite soccer team. One of the questions at the heart of this podcast is how do we make sport a better experience for all? Can we imagine a world where no one is excluded from sport because of sexism, misogyny, racism, classism or ableism? These questions of sporting values and equality are driving the work of Dr Sheree Bekker and Professor Stephen Mumford. They are co-directors of an exciting new initiative called the feminist sport lab - a gender inclusive space for the application of feminist principles to sport which ‘imagines a sports world divided not into Sport and Women's Sport, but rather a landscape where Feminist Sport reigns'. In this episode, Sheree and Stephen talk about the feminist lab and their new book ‘Open play: the case for feminist sport' – In that book, they advocate for a feminist perspective on sport, challenging conventional wisdom on the inferiority of women's athleticism. In this special episode of the TechCentral Show (TCS) – presented by MTN Business – Duncan McLeod chats to two South African biohackers, Daniel de Kock and Jarryd Bekker, about why they have voluntarily installed microchips in their bodies. Respectively the chief technology officer and CEO of Riot Network – the wireless broadband specialist that is building low-cost networks in underserviced areas, including Olievenhoutbosch in Gauteng – they tell TechCentral about why they chose to implant the chips and what they're used for. The pair, who both profess a desire to receive brain implants from Elon Musk's Neuralink, explain how they started augmenting their biological bodies with electronics, what's involved, the information they're able to glean from the chips, and where the fusion of human biology and electronics is headed over the coming decade. In the interview, Bekker and De Kock unpack how electronic circuitry in the human body can help detect and manage serious health issues, and the impact this could have on fighting disease and prolonging people's lives. The two discuss a range of issues related to biohacking, including: • What's involved when it's time to upgrade the chips; • How one goes about having them installed; • The growing online biohacker community; • Integration with artificial intelligence; and • Much more. Don't miss this offbeat but fascinating discussion! TechCentral

Introduction: Welcome to another episode of our hog farming podcast. Today, we have a special guest, Arian de Bekker from Neogen, joining us to discuss an often underestimated but critical topic: rodent control. In the world of hog farming, we've mastered biosecurity when it comes to people and vehicle movement. However, the battle against rodents demands a different set of knowledge, skills, and discipline. Segment 1: Understanding Rodents What exactly are rodents, and why are they a concern for hog farms? The three major dangers posed by rodents: disease transmission, structural damage, and feed loss and contamination. Startling facts about rodents' appetite and the financial implications for hog farmers. Whether we like it or not, fear is a powerful force in our lives- fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of losing the people and things that are important to us. Even as much of the animal world shifts to a “fear free” mindset when it comes to training and interacting with animals, many of us still struggle to let go of our own fears. Too often, that fear keeps us trapped in uncomfortable and painful situations, or prevents us from doing things we love or aspire to. Mikkel Becker, the lead animal trainer at Fear Free Pets, came on the show today to talk about overcoming the fears that hold us back and keep us from living full and joyful lives. This week we sit down to with author and van lifer, Dot Bekker. Between November 2018 and August 2019, Dot traveled from Spain to her hometown in Zimbabwe in an old, self-converted campervan; A 1998 Blue Ford Transit, lovingly named BlueBelle, who also happened to be a 2WD. That's right, Dot & BlueBelle, against all odds, (slowly) drove 20,000km solo to get 'home to Africa'. And the stories & insights that she shares with us from this trip are truly inspirational. Dot's hope is to motivate others to take on challenges and to realise their own potential because as she wrote in her book, ”if an ordinary sixty-year old woman could make something extraordinary happen, then so can you.” Dot's Book “Going Home to Africa” is available here: https://amzn.to/3YVVwMx Learn more about how you can connect with & support Dot's charity work here: www.goinghometoafrica.com Send Dot your emojis on Instagram here: @goinghometoafrica
