Never excuse yourself of mistakes by accusing others.
It's hard to believe that it has been five years since #MeToo. The culture has moved on many times since then. But it's worth returning to the movement, to take stock of what it did, and did not, accomplish — and how it's influenced the moment we now find ourselves in.Tara's guest on the podcast today does just this in a new piece for The Spectator, “So much for #MeToo.” Phoebe Maltz Bovy is a Toronto writer, editor, and contributing columnist at The Globe and Mail. She's also co-host of the Feminine Chaos podcast, and the author of The Perils of “Privilege”: Why Injustice Can't Be Solved by Accusing Others of Advantage. You can find Tara Henley on Twitter at @TaraRHenley, and on Substack at tarahenley.substack.com

NBC News has accused myself and the Daily Wire of "fake news" for reporting on a potentially dangerous drug being given to gender-confused children. But the fake news, of course, is all on their end. Also, more Trudeau black face footage. This is the worst one yet. And a jaw dropping report about the true scope and severity of the child porn problem on the internet. What can really be done to stop it? I've got one idea. Date: 09-30-2019

Often when we talk about privilege, we’re referring to the systemic advantages some groups of people have over others, by virtue of their race, gender, or orientation. Having social awareness of privilege like this is an important part of fostering a more equal and inclusive society. Why then do people who value inclusiveness feel insulted when their own privilege is pointed out? Writer and editor Phoebe Maltz Bovy joins us to discus her new book, The Perils of “Privilege”: Why Injustice Can’t be Solved by Accusing Others of Advantage. Bovy explains that while “privilege” is meant to illustrate advantages placed on us by societal injustice, the word also has undertones suggesting economic wealth and a life free of hardship. She asserts that for this reason using the word provokes a lot of confusion and outrage. Bovy believes that because very few people’s lives are without hardship, being told they are privileged can be counterproductive.
