Join Pastor Cameron as we continue our look at "The Prisoner, the Fugitive, and the Nice Guy." The Apostle Paul and Onesimus demonstrate that true repentance always comes with a willingness to pay the consequences for what we have done wrong.
The problem with understanding the Bible for just about all of us is that we all come to the Bible with our OWN way of thinking. We've already decided what God is like and what we are like. Unfortunately, it is usually a very wrong assessment. In the gospel of Luke, Chapter 15 the Lord Jesus Christ tells a story that we know now as 'the prodigal son'. But there is more to the story than the son who left home for a far country and later returned to his father. You see, the Lord Jesus was telling the story to a group of self-righteous Pharisees. Yes, the prodigal son certainly needed forgiveness all right, but so did the religious congregation. You see, they ALL needed a 'change of mind'. They needed to look at reality the way that God reveals it to us in His Word. And so do we! I trust that our message today will help YOU to align your thoughts and reasonings to what God wants you to know.

Today, we begin a month-long series examining how Scripture is sometimes misused by spiritual authorities—such as clergy, small-group leaders, biblical counselors, and Christian counselors—in ways that shame or further harm those who are already experiencing abuse in their marriages. In this special series, Twisted Scripture: When the Bible Is Weaponized, we take a careful and thoughtful look at passages that are frequently used in ways that silence the vulnerable or pressure victims to remain in harmful situations. Our first conversation features Dr. Steven R. Tracy, author of To Harm or To Heal: The Bible and Its Use in Counseling and co-author with Celestia G. Tracy of Mending the Soul. Together, we discuss two critical topics: spiritual abuse by church leadership in their counseling and pastoral care, and the biblical responsibility of leaders to protect those who are vulnerable. We also address commonly misused teachings about forgiveness and reconciliation and how these passages are often applied in ways that ignore the realities of abuse.Throughout this month-long series, we will continue exploring other frequently cited “clobber verses,” inviting theologians, pastors, and scholars to help us examine Scripture more faithfully and responsibly.Join us as we work to distinguish between Scripture that heals and Scripture that has been twisted in ways that harm. Steven R. Tracy - CBE InternationalSteven R. Tracy is a professor of theology and ethics at Phoenix Seminary and co-founder of Mending the Soul Ministries. He is the author of "Mending the Soul: Understanding and Healing Abuse" and co-author of "Marriage at the Crossroads" (forthcoming, InterVarsity). Tracy's work focuses on providing education and resources for the church and community on abuse, sexuality, and healthy intimacy. He has extensive experience in pastoral, classroom, and clinical settings, bringing over 40 years of experience to his work with Mending the Soul.
How can you tell if another person has repented? By counting his or her tears? How about the passing of time? Neither of these well-worn paths is very helpful. Pastor Colin helps you discover the genuine marks of true repentance, and how to deepen your own repentance.

You “feel sorry” about what happened. Does that mean you've repented? Not necessarily. Pastor Colin talks about two different kinds of sorrow – ‘godly' sorrow and ‘worldly' sorrow.
I hope this email finds you well and that your heart is still stirred from our powerful gathering. What we witnessed and experienced together was more than a church service—it was a divine appointment with the Holy Spirit as we stand on the threshold of historic reformation in our nation. The sermon explored the critical difference between religious obligation and genuine heart transformation, drawing powerful parallels between King Josiah's reforms in ancient Israel and the spiritual moment America faces today. We examined how an entire nation can witness reformation yet fail to experience personal revival—and why we cannot make that same mistake. This message challenged us to move beyond borrowed faith and pretense repentance to embrace authentic transformation that begins with individual surrender to Christ. The implications for our spiritual lives are profound: reformation without personal revival is unsustainable, and what happens in our hearts today will determine whether we experience four years of glory or four generations of blessing.
In this episode of Fed by the Fruit, host KB dives deep into one of the most misunderstood concepts in the Christian faith, repentance. Drawing on biblical truth from the Old and New Testaments, KB unpacks what repentance truly means (hint: it's more than just feeling bad about your sins), exploring how a genuine change of mind leads to a radical change of action. From Peter's sermon at Pentecost to the transformative story of Zacchaeus, KB walks listeners through the four key elements of true biblical repentance and its inseparable connection to salvation, faith, and God's grace which is challenging each of us to examine where unrepentant sin may still have a hold in our own lives.Reach out to KB on Instagram and share your thoughts.

Episode Summary: In this episode we examine Nehemiah 10 to see what it can teach us about false and true repentance. For Further Prayerful Thought. Why is saying “I'm sorry” easier than true repentance? How would you summarize these words of John? And by this we know that we have come to know him (Christ), if we keep his commandments. Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked (1 Jn 2:3-6.)Although we no longer live in a theocracy as God's people did before Jesus came, why might Israel's law that warned that oppression of the poor was not to be compensated for by partiality towards them in court help inform our thinking about how best to show mercy to the poor. How does the example of God's repentant Old Covenant people stepping up to fully fund ministry challenge you? What have you learned about walking in the Spirit, i.e. experiencing his power in your everyday life? Pictures of True Repentance(And Genuine Saving Faith)
Pharaoh repeatedly turns to God in moments of crisis—only to harden his heart once relief comes. His story exposes a pattern that is far closer to home than we might like to admit. How often do we seek God when life falls apart, only to drift once things improve? This message explores the difference between false repentance and true repentance, revealing how easy it is to want God's blessings without actually wanting God Himself. Through the patience of God in the plagues and the beauty of Christ in the gospel, we see that God's kindness is not meant to be used, but to lead us to repentance. Ultimately, this sermon calls us to stop trying to ‘cheat' God, to lay down our pride and self-righteousness, and to cling to Jesus—who is better than anything this world could offer.
Pastor Chas Stevenson
True repentance produces humility, leading us to lay down pride, seek God with a broken heart, and bear genuine fruit through a life of obedience and service. 참된 회개는 겸손의 열매를 맺게 하여 교만을 내려놓고 상한 마음으로 하나님을 구하며 순종과 섬김의 삶으로 참된 열매를 맺게 합니다.

Are you going through the motions but still feeling stuck in life? Discover why simply being around good things isn't enough to change your heart, and how you can finally break free from hidden resentment. In this powerful message, Elliott Warren explores the hidden dangers of holding onto secret sins and bitterness. Looking closely at the story of Judas, we see how easy it is to disguise our true motives and personal agendas behind righteous-sounding arguments. Judas walked alongside Jesus for three years and witnessed incredible miracles, yet his heart never truly changed. He remained a petty thief who allowed bitterness to completely cloud his judgment. This sermon challenges us to take a deeply honest look at our own lives. Are we just polishing our outward religious appearance while harboring hidden resentment or unyielded habits? True transformation requires more than just feeling remorse when things go wrong; it demands genuine repentance and fully surrendering our old ways to God. Welcome back to the Eden Podcast! In Episode 2 of our transformative live series, we confront the uncomfortable but liberating truth about our spiritual reality. Are you ready to stop hiding and step back into genuine communion with your Heavenly Father? This empowering Christian podcast explores the vital, relational purpose behind God's voice and exposes the deceptive tactics of the enemy that keep us isolated and ashamed. In this powerful session, we contrast the voice of God—which is loving, constant, and designed for relationship—with the voice of the enemy. We analyze the tactics of Satan, the ultimate deceiver, who uses subtle lies and twisted truths to sow seeds of doubt about God's goodness and our worth. Have you bought into the lie that God is withholding from you, or that you must earn His love? We expose these toxic narratives and learn how to identify the subtle “weeds” of deception growing in our hearts. But the good news doesn't stop with simply recognizing the problem; it provides the solution. We explore the profoundly freeing concepts of confession and true repentance. Confession isn't about punishment; it's about breaking the chains of shame. It's stepping out of the dark shadows of isolation and declaring, “I am struggling here,” allowing God's light to illuminate our broken places. We learn that repentance is not a sign of weakness but an act of bold faith—a purposeful turning away from destructive patterns and turning back toward the heart of God.It is time to replace the enemy's deceptive whispers with the solid, unshakable truth of God's Word. You are fully known, deeply loved, and fiercely pursued by a Father who longs for you to live in freedom. Join us as we learn to silence the lies and boldly reclaim our spiritual inheritance. FEB. 9, 2026True repentance brings restoration."Father, I have sinned." Lk 15:18 NKJVThe story of the prodigal son illustrates the meaning of true repentance. It's about a young Jewish man who rebelled against all that he'd been taught, turned his back on his father, was lured by the bright lights of the big city, and ended up in a pigpen feeding swine. But he did three things that turned his life around. First, he changed his mind. "When he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death!'"(v. 17 NIV). Second, he redirected his will. "I will...go back to my father and say to him: 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you'" (v. 18 NIV). Third, he took action. "So he got up and went to his father" (v. 20 NIV). Repentance is a change of mind, which brings about a change of will, and results in a change of action. It led to the prodigal's forgiveness and restoration to his family. Here are two things about sin you need to know: (1) God will uncover every sin you try to cover up. "Judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts" (1Co 4:5 NKJV). (2) God will cover every sin you uncover. "He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy" (Pr 28:13 NKJV). Go ahead-confess and forsake your sin, and God will cover it with the blood of Christ. There is no good reason to wait. Do it now.True repentance brings restoration Repentance is a change of mind.Share This DevotionalSend a textSupport the showChanging Lives | Building Strong Family | Impacting Our Community For Jesus Christ!
