GOD: An Autobiography, As Told to a Philosopher - The Podcast, S1
Questions? Comments? Text Us!What happens when suffering enters a new season of life? How do we face aging, grief, limitation, and uncertainty without surrendering our sense of purpose? In the latest Jerry & Abigail: An Intimate Dialogue, the married philosophers return for another stimulating dialogue exploring suffering, aging, calling, and the search for meaning. Beginning with the Serenity Prayer and the Stoic distinction between what we can and cannot control, the conversation moves into deeper questions about suffering as a source of growth, the temptation to “give up” too early in life, and the challenge of remaining fully engaged with one's purpose.Abigail reflects on resisting cultural narratives of decline, particularly those imposed on women, while sharing her thoughts on aging, neuropathy, resilience, and refusing to “die before you're dead.” Jerry connects these reflections to themes from God: An Autobiography, including the idea that “suffering is the law of growth in the universe.”The discussion also explores antisemitism, historical responsibility, Aristotle's vision of human flourishing, the story of David and Goliath, and the question of what it means to live in alignment with one's deepest calling. This is a rich and personal conversation about suffering, purpose, spiritual courage, and remaining fully alive on the timeline of human history.Whether you are navigating grief, searching for meaning, or trying to discern what still has your name on it, Episode 284 offers a thoughtful and deeply human exploration of the courage required to keep living fully. What do the American people actually expect from companies deploying AI — and are corporate leaders listening? In this episode of One Vision Podcast, Theodora Lau sits down with longtime friend Tyler Spalding, Chief Marketing, Communications & Engagement Officer at JUST Capital, to unpack the organization's latest research on how the public, investors, and corporate executives view AI's impact on society, jobs, and the economy. They dig into the perception gap between public sentiment (66%) and corporate optimism (94% of investors and 90% of corporate leaders see AI as a net positive), and what that gap means for business leaders navigating workforce decisions, reskilling investments, and responsible AI deployment. The conversation also explores the tension between AI-driven efficiency gains and the human cost of disruption — from layoffs framed as AI transformation and the anxiety facing the next generation entering the workforce, as well as the importance of defining and incentivizing responsible AI through consistent, comparable standards guided by public expectations.

Desperation Is Not a Good Look for a Startup Hello, this is Hall T. Martin with the Startup Funding Espresso -- your daily shot of startup funding and investing. Founders raising funding are often under the gun with a dwindling cash account. Some founders mistakenly use this as part of their pitch. They emphasize the need the founder has rather than the return the investor will receive if they fund the startup. Investors look for fundable companies. Those in desperation are not good candidates for investment. It's best to come up with a backup plan. Some startups turn to consultation work to pay the bills. Others look for grant funding to keep the lights on. Still others reorganize the company and move to a bare-bones expense plan. It's best to do this six months before the cash runs out, as it gives the founder time to launch another plan. Waiting till there's only 30 days of cash left in the bank gives the startup too few options. Desperation is not a good look for a startup, so it's best to avoid the situation altogether. Thank you for joining us for the Startup Funding Espresso where we help startups and investors connect for funding. Let's go startup something today. _________________________________________________________ For more episodes from Investor Connect, please visit the site at: http://investorconnect.org Check out our other podcasts here: https://investorconnect.org/ For Investors check out: https://tencapital.group/investor-landing/ For Startups check out: https://tencapital.group/company-landing/ For eGuides check out: https://tencapital.group/education/ For upcoming Events, check out https://tencapital.group/events/ For Feedback please contact info@tencapital.group Please follow, share, and leave a review. Questions? Comments? Text Us!What if doing the “right thing” isn't always right? In this episode of Jerry & Abigail: An Intimate Dialogue, a deceptively simple question opens into one of the most difficult problems in moral philosophy: moral ambiguity. Can we ever act with complete moral certainty, or is every meaningful choice marked by tension, compromise, and consequence?Drawing from God: An Autobiography and real-world experience, Jerry lays out three common ways people try to escape this burden: rigid moral rules, the pursuit of moral purity, and the attempt to rise “beyond good and evil.” Together, Jerry and Abigail examine why each approach ultimately fails, and what it means to live honestly within the complexity of real life.Through powerful examples, from the story of Krishna and the Mahabharata to whistleblowers, personal relationships, and philosophical debates from Kant to Aristotle, this conversation moves beyond abstract ethics into lived decision-making. When truth causes harm, when lies may protect, and when action always carries a cost, how do we choose? This episode challenges the idea that morality is about staying pure or being right. Instead, it asks whether the real task is something harder: learning to navigate ambiguity with discernment, responsibility, and courage. If you've ever struggled with a decision that had no clear answer, listen to this conversation; it will stay with you!Other Series:The podcast began with the Dramatic Adaptation of the book and now has several series:The Life Wisdom Project – Spiritual insights on living a wiser, more meaningful life. From God to Jerry to You – Divine messages and breakthroughs for seekers. Two Philosophers Wrestle With God – A dialogue on God, truth, and reason.Jerry & Abigail: An Intimate Dialogue – Love, faith, and divine presence in partnership. What's Your Spiritual Story – Real stories of people changed by encounters with God.What's On Our Mind – Reflections from Jerry and Scott on recent episodes. What's On Your Mind – Listener questions, divine answers, and open dialogue. Questions? Comments? Text Us!How do you know when an inner prompting is truly guidance — and when it is illusion? In this intimate dialogue, Jerry L. Martin and Abigail L. Rosenthal explore the challenge of spiritual discernment: learning to trust your spiritual senses without abandoning realism, reason, or common sense. What does it mean to follow an inner call responsibly? How do you test intuition against experience, wisdom, and the counsel of others?Drawing from lived experience — including Jerry's hearing of the “God voice,” their shared leap into marriage, and Abigail's reflections in A Good Look at Evil and Confessions of a Young Philosopher — they consider how faith and practical wisdom must work together. Faith is not unrealism. It is not a shortcut. Nor is it blind emotion. Instead, it is a disciplined attentiveness to the deeper currents of your life, guided by both sincerity and discernment. The conversation widens into a larger question: What story are you living? And what is your ideal story? Abigail reflects on the idea that God is not a distant abstraction but a Player — with a capital P — in the unfolding drama of your life. To live spiritually is not to withdraw from reality but to engage it more fully, with courage, humility, and intellectual honesty. If you have ever wondered how to distinguish true guidance from impulse, how to balance faith and reason, or how to bring your actual life closer to your ideal life, this episode offers a thoughtful and grounded exploration of divine guidance, inner calling, and life as a story.Other Series:The podcast began with the Dramatic Adaptation of the book and now has several series:The Life Wisdom Project – Spiritual insights on living a wiser, more meaningful life. Be Unmessablewith: The Podcast hosted by Josselyne Herman-Saccio
In this episode of the Be Unmessablewith® podcast, I sit down with Behdad Jamshidi, an engineer turned ‘super-connector'If choosing a marketing partner feels like dating in the dark, this conversation is your flashlight. Behdad started out in engineering, the world of logic and systems. But when he stepped into entrepreneurship, he realized something was missing: connection. After watching too many founders burn money and time on the wrong marketing help, he built a bridge, a matchmaking process that connects businesses with agencies that actually fit their stage, goals, and personality. Here's what you'll hear in this episode:How to pair your business stage with the right type of agencies (and stop wasting money on the wrong ones)Why “we run Facebook ads” is not a marketing strategyThe behaviors that make clients stay year after yearThe failure points most agencies hit and how the best ones fix themThe founder mindset shift that keeps you grounded when your team or partners change overnightWhat I love about Behdad's story is that it's not about perfection, it's about precision. About building real relationships based on clarity, honesty, and vision. That's what being Unmessablewith® looks like in business: standing in your word, not your worry. If you've ever felt burned by marketing or struggled to find people who “get” your business, this episode will change how you choose, collaborate, and grow.

This Week: Everyone in education knows that chronic absenteeism is a big deal. While the numbers are improving slowly in recent years, we've still yet to return to pre-pandemic levels of students who miss multiple days of school each month. So what should schools do to address this issue? Well, California has finally repealed its law throwing criminal penalties at families for truancy, acknowledging it was a failure and only punishes families already struggling with a plethora of issues. And in Washington DC a school begins an experiment to pay kids directly, with no strings attached cash payments, hoping that overall financial well being will help improve attendance. Will it work? We shall see. Is this the right way to tackle the problem? Manuel and Jeff discuss!MAXIMUM WOKENESS ALERT -- get your All of the Above swag, including your own “Teach the Truth” shirt!
