Una de las críticas que constantemente se le han hecho a la música electrónica desde el mismo instante en que apareció es que es fría, que no transmite emociones. No es cierto. En la selección musical de esta semana hacemos un panorama musical desde los 80 hasta la actualidad y vemos la evolución de la música electrónica y algunos de los estilos actuales. Esta semana escucharemos temas de Vangelis, Kitaro, Yanni, Suzanne Ciani, Air, Ólafur Arnalds & Nils Frahm, Rone, Rival Consoles, Christian Löffler, Daso, French 79, M83, Kid Francescoli, Röyksopp y Maud Geffray con Lavinia Meijer.

Tras escuchar buena parte de la temporada durante esta semana, finalmente haré tres programas de resumen de lo mejor de la temporada, de tres horas cada uno, tal y como se ha venido haciendo siempre. A pesar de haber menos programas esta temporada, la calidad de las músicas ha sido tremenda. It's the 88th day of the year so that means it's Piano Day(88 keys on a piano)! There's actually not much to say about the mix other than it contains some excellent piano music. Most of the tracks are fairly new with many being from 2017 & 2018. There's so much piano based music out there to choose from it's a bit overwhelming when first starting the mix. But as so often happens, once I start with a track or two the rest flows from there.  I think the tunes fit pretty well together & I like how it turned out. Back in November I did a mix for the launch of Curiosity, NASA's newest Mars rover.  Now 8 months later, Curiosity has arrived at Mars.  So this mix is music for landing on Mars, in honor of Curiosity's EDL or entry, descent and landing. As I write this, the landing has not taken place yet.  But I wanted to get the mix uploaded on the day of the landing.  I'll update the post depending on the result of the EDL. I started off this mix just picking electronic tunes I liked for this theme then quickly realized that many of the titles fit perfectly.  Track titles such as "We Travel", "Bold Advances" "Flying (in crimson skies)" and "Arrival".  So I looked for a few more with appropriate names, kept a few that had titles that didn't matter and the mix was launched. McG takes a breather from punk rock to play two hours of chilled out, mellow and introspective tracks from bands such as Stars of the Lid, Carlton Melton, Mogwai and Ólafur Arnalds & Nils Frahm. While the pace will be considerably slower,  the intensity and immediacy of punk rock will be channeled through a much more mellow lense of slo-mo psychedelia, modern ambient and noisy haze.
