We're podding from the Lions team hotel after Andy Farrell named his squad for the third Test in Sydney. Chris, Ugo and John Barclay discuss the two changes to the Lions starting XV with Blair Kinghorn replacing James Lowe on the wing and James Ryan coming in for Ollie Chessum at lock. Joe Schmidt has turned to veteran scum-half Nic White who bows out from international rugby on Saturday, but there is no Rob Valetini or Carlo Tizzano for the Wallabies. Can they match the performance they produced at the MCG to spoil the Lions' party?
Gazing into the crystal ball that is the AFL ladder predictor, Andrew Wu and Peter Ryan deliver some final-eight forecasts that surprise even themselves on this week's tipping edition of the Real Footy podcast. Turning their attention to round 21, they pontificate over the prospects of the Western Bulldogs against GWS, weigh-up a fascinating clash between Adelaide and Hawthorn and disagree vehemently over who will triumph in Saturday night's MCG match between Collingwood and the Brisbane Lions.Support the show: https://subscribe.theage.com.au/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On the latest episode of Talking Tigers, there is a strong push for Richmond star defender Nick Vlastuin to receive an inaugural All-Australian blazer this year. The TT team present a compelling case for Vlastuin’s selection in the 2025 All-Australian team given his excellent form throughout the season, culminating in an outstanding performance against Collingwood at the MCG last Sunday with some AFL career-high, key statistical numbers for him. Also on this week’s show, there is plenty of excitement expressed about highly-talented Tiger teenager Taj Hotton. Another Richmond young gun in Harry Armstrong features in the final “Broady’s Zingers” for the year. The popular “60 Years of MCG Memories” focuses on a sensational goalkicking display by a top Tiger of the 1980s, who was not renowned for scoring goals. While in “Hidden Tigerland”, club historian Rhett Bartlett has the details of a daredevil stunt that took place on the Punt Road Oval in 1980 which, had it gone wrong, would have cost Richmond the premiership that year. For all things Yellow and Black, make sure you tune in to Talking Tigers.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The series is done, the Lions have won, and everyone in the rugby world is mad about one thing or another after a dramatic, epic second Test that saw the Wallabies' hearts broken at the MCG.Christy Doran and Matt To'omua unpack all the fallout from THAT non-penalty, give their views on whether the decision was the right one, debate whether the Aussies choked, and look ahead to this Saturday's tour finale in Sydney to see if the Wallabies can salvage any pride from the rubble of twin defeats.Hosts: Christy Doran & Matt To'omua Hosted on Acast. Stuart McAvoy and Alan Quinlan are back to discuss the British & Irish Lions' dramatic win at the MCG in front of over 90,000 fans on Saturday that secured a series win with a game to spare. Quinny gives his thoughts on the controversy surrounding Hugo Keenan's late series-winning try and Andrea Piardi's decision to allow it , a decision Australia head coach Joe Schmidt criticised post-match. The pair also chat about Keenan's meteoric rise from Blackrock College to Sevens international, XVs international and now a Lion. This week on the KOKO Show the lads try and pick up the pieces after experiencing what was an emotional weekend for Aussie rugby fans in Melbourne. If you have been living under a rock, the Wallabies were pipped at the post on Saturday by a resurgent Lions team that claimed a big series win 2-0 at the MCG. Despite being heartbroken and frustrated with the result the KOKO lads paint on a pretty smile and give you a full review of what happened at the ‘G' in Guinness' ‘Perfect Pour' segment and they reiterate just how important it is for the Wallabies to pick themselves up, dust themselves off and show up big in Sydney. The lads are joined by one of the greatest to ever do it in George Gregan and they discuss how the series might be done but the ability to keep writing this resurgent Aussie rugby narrative is well and truly still on track. With George's rugby mind overflowing with brilliance the KOKO Crew dive deep into the psyche of a champion to see where he believes Aussie rugby is at and where it needs to go. So, sit back, relax and tip your cap to the Lions, they deserve our respect. Is young Murphy Reid now the benchmark? He certainly is at the MCG after leaving a mark on the bench that Brayden Maynard callously and recklessly shoved him into! Time to Restump Podcast the thrilling possibility door opening win over the Pies.Other than putting it down to heart and soul, a relentless work rate, self-belief, an absurd forward efficiency and a defensive collective that should be paid triple time for the amount of work it did, I'm not exactly sure how we won that game! The Pie's pressure was mental, the ball lived in their forward half and they pumped us for inside fifties. I mean we lost the inside fifty count 63 to 40! We had the lowest number of inside fifties of any team over the entire weekend; it was against the league's best team who sat games clear at the top of the ladder and yet we somehow managed to not only keep them to one goal from a massive 20 inside fifties in the 3rd term, we scored one in every two of our total entries to win the game. And, I may add, against the best defence in the league! That stuff needs a bearded stooge in a lab coat armed with a beaker, a petri dish and bunsen burner to work out how it all happened. Is it a sustainable on field football business model? Well, if the Prancing Pony can guarantee us he'll bang through 6 straight every week, then absolutely it is. However, in reality here on earth, as talented as Vossy is, it's an unfair and unrealistic request. So, the answer is probably no, it isn't sustainable. We can't put those expectations on our defensive unit or an individual. But to momentary hell with that, it worked on the weekend, the valuable 4 points are in the bag and while we're trying to keep a lid on things, the “why not us” question is gaining some traction. You should never ask a question you don't already know the answer to. So, with that been said, is Luke Jackson the best kick at goal in the entire AFL? Under pressure from long range… he's kicked 14 goals 3 this year. We have to say it's comforting having a fit Jaegar O'Meara back. We've missed his presence around the ball and when he does get an opportunity to hit the scoreboard, he's usually of the Luke Jackson ilk. And speaking of welcomed returns, do we win that game without a quarter and a bit from Hayden Young? Maybe, maybe not, but I'm glad we don't have to find out. Could Josh Treacy be the greatest swingman the game has ever seen? One game saving mark is happenstance; two separate game saving marks could be classed as coincidence. But now a third separate game saving mark is a behavioural pattern! We wanted to speak to JT about it but he's in surgery having Darcy Moore's knees removed from his spine! And lastly can we have some gratitude for and send some love to the serial scapegoat and whipping boy, Bailey Banfield? He had a ripping game and has thrived upon becoming a part of the backline band. We've now beaten Gold Coast on their home deck, GWS at their circus showgrounds and Collingwood in their Colosseum. However, nothing is assured and there is plenty still to play out, and while unfortunately a very good team is going to miss finals this year, we're in some serious shape. For now, though, let's not worry about the what ifs, let's disregard the data, put aside the predictions, projections and premonitions and continue Monday marvelling at our mastery in a magnificent moment at the MCG. So, pull up a pew, pour yourself a potion, press play on the pod and partake in our picking apart of the Pies and the Purple. Send us a textSupport the show
