"Frankenstein" had its world premiere at the 2024 Venice International Film Festival and later screened at the Telluride and Toronto International Film Festivals. It received positive reviews for its direction and adaptation by Guillermo del Toro of Mary Shelley's beloved, iconic novel, as well as incredible craftsmanship from all areas of production, and performances from Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, and Mia Goth. Members of the cast and crew were kind enough to spend some time speaking with members of Next Best Picture over the past few weeks, which you can listen to below. Monsteriana, monsteriano, bienvenido a ¡Cosas de Monstruos! El programa en el que te enseñamos a sobrevivir a las amenazas más terroríficas: Las criaturas gigantes. The Phoenician Scheme is a 2025 espionage black comedy film produced, written and directed by Wes Anderson from a story he conceived with Roman Coppola. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Benicio del Toro, Mia Threapleton, Michael Cera, Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Mathieu Amalric, Richard Ayoade, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rupert Friend, Hope Davis, F. Murray Abraham, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Willem Dafoe, and Bill Murray. An international co-production between the United States and Germany, it was produced by Anderson's company American Empirical Pictures and Steven Rales's company Indian Paintbrush.Anderson talked about the film in June 2023 while promoting Asteroid City; he said it had already been written before the 2023 WGA strike began. That September, he revealed that del Toro and Cera were planned to join the cast, and he hoped to begin filming soon after the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike ended. The rest of the cast signed on between January and June 2024. Filming took place at Babelsberg Studio in Germany, between March and June 2024, with cinematographer Bruno Delbonnel. Frequent Anderson collaborator Alexandre Desplat returned to compose the score.The Phoenician Scheme had its world premiere in the main competition of the 2025 Cannes Film Festival on May 18, 2025,[3] and was released theatrically in the United States by Focus Features on May 30, with a release date of June 29, 2025 set for Germany by Universal Pictures. The film received generally positive reviews.

Pero el destino les depara más de una sorpresa. El reclamo de la actriz influencer Nicole Wallace puede ser el gancho de la peli romántica que ha dirigido Alejandro San Martín. Our latest guest on Soundtracking is Malcolm Washington, son of Denzel, who joins Edith to discuss his directorial debut, The Piano Lesson, which he also co-wrote and will be available to stream on Netflix on 22nd November. Based on the play by August Wilson, The Piano Lesson is set in 1936 Pittsburgh during the aftermath of The Great Depression, and follows the lives of the Charles family and a precious heirloom, the family piano. Depending on the day, he can be found recording for video games, motion pictures, theme parks, or television shows.  He has recorded films with many great composers including John Williams, Hans Zimmer, John Powell, Randy Newman, Alexandre Desplat, James Newton Howard, Bruce Broughton, David Newman, and Alan Silvestri. Some movie titles on which Dylan can be heard playing principal horn include: Star Wars IX: The Rise of Skywalker, Jungle Cruise, Onward, It 2, Call of the Wild, Ready Player One, Deadpool 2, Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi, Violent Night, and The Jungle Book. Dylan has also recorded albums and appeared on television with music legends Lady Gaga, John Legend, Michael Bublé, Sting, Stevie Wonder, Wu-Tang Clan, M83, Gladys Night, Yo-Yo Ma, Neil Young, and The Beatles. He also performs regularly with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, Pacific Symphony, and San Diego Symphony. Dylan is a member of the Los Angeles Horn Quartet and Modern Brass Quintet. In addition, Dylan co-produced the 75-minute film documentary entitled 1M1: Hollywood Horns of the Golden Years which recounts the history of the Los Angeles film studios told through the eyes of the legendary horn players of the golden era. In addition, he translated and published a book for musicians called In Tune: Exercises to Improve a Musician's Performance and Quality of Life. Dylan is known for making French horn music videos as seen on his YouTube Channel and specializes in giving masterclasses on a variety of topics ranging from physics and anatomy to motivation and mental health. As an alumnus of the University of Southern California, he studied with Vincent DeRosa, James Thatcher, and Richard Todd. Dylan currently teaches horn at California State University, Northridge. When not performing, Dylan, a “foodie”, enjoys cooking, playing ice hockey and soccer, golfing, and hanging out with his wife and fellow hornist Annie Bosler. Dylan is a Conn/Selmer Artist and owns several vintage Conn 8Ds and currently plays on a C-series that his friend and fellow instrument junky Noah Gladstone helped him find. AND THE WINNER IS...a let down? We have had so much fun this season with some really great films. Films that we called perfect, modern classics, innovative, surprising; and it all led to one of the most predictable Best Picture Winners. Surprising to no one, this was not on the top of any of our rankings at the end of this season, but we can't say we didn't like it. Colin Firth gives a moving performance because he can do no wrong. Geoffrey Rush was a charming supporting actor that matched Firth toe to toe, and Tom Hooper wasn't as annoying as he could be. Bit of a legend alert for you now, as we welcome the genius that is Wes Anderson to Soundtracking. Wes's latest offering is quite difficult to describe in a few words. But suffice to say it is laugh-out-loud funny in parts, incredibly moving in others, features a terrific ensemble cast, and once again sees him work with composer Alexandre Desplat and our Jarvis Cocker.

The big names just keep on coming to Soundtracking - and today we're over the moon to be joined by Guillermo Del Toro and Alexandre Desplat to discuss their wonderful collaboration on Guillermo's take on Pinocchio, which is streaming now on Netflix. Set against the backdrop of the emergence of Facism in Italy, this is a bittersweet tale of the challenges of the father-son relationship which has a deeply personal feel to it - and certainly got Edith and her 9-year-old talking about the many profound themes it raises. As you'd expect, Alexandre's score is magnificent, and there's plenty of that sprinkled throughout the conversation too.
