Your opponent has a better position or plays a move that catches you by surprise. Rather than keep your composure while patiently analyzing, you become frustrated, despondent, and convince yourself your position and/or your opponent's apparent threat is worse than it is. As a result, you bang out an unnecessary (and weakening) defensive move. Sound familiar? You just played a "panic move." This week we take a look at this common chess ailment. A Transformative Approach to Value-Centric Leadership   On this episode of iQor's Digitally Irresistible podcast, we welcome Sean Ilenrey. Sean is an award-winning tech executive, published author, and keynote speaker whose achievements have inspired his drive to help other professionals achieve their own definition of personal success. In his groundbreaking book, “You Don't Owe Happiness,” he teaches six key principles of value-centric leadership. He finds that when frontline teams feel valued and valuable, they achieve high levels of employee satisfaction leading to optimal customer service delivery.   Tune in as Sean unpacks his six key principles of value-centric leadership from his book to create smiles for employees, leaders, and customers.     Sean's Path to Leadership Inspiration  life experiences have played a significant role in defining his outlook and his expertise. In high school, he dropped out of school, faced homelessness and difficulty focusing due to the circumstances going on in his life. Fast forward and 10 years later he is a vice president in a customer service role. These life experiences drive his inspirational approach to leadership—a culmination of lessons that taught him it's okay to want to take care of other people and help them find happiness at work, but the focus should be on ensuring teams feel valued and valuable.   Sean's [BB1]   customer experience career spans industries ranging from retail to technical support. He has built teams domestically and internationally and supports leadership development that fosters engagement and value.     Six Values That Define Game-Changing Leadership   In his book, Sean elaborates on six key principles that underpin value-centric[BB2]  leadership , providing insights for leaders and organizations striving to optimize employee satisfaction and deliver exceptional customer service.   1. Listening and Responding to Employee Feedback Sean emphasizes the importance of actively engaging with employee feedback. It's not enough for employees' voices to be heard; their feedback should drive actionable outcomes. He shares an example of implementing an anonymous daily or weekly survey, followed by personalized video responses from leadership. This not only fosters a culture of transparency but also ensures that employees feel heard and valued.   2. Authentic Rewards and Recognition Rather than following a traditional, generic recognition approach, Sean advocates for authentic rewards and recognition. He stresses the need for organizations to acknowledge intangible contributions and exceptional efforts beyond standard KPIs. Additionally, the frequency of recognition plays a vital role in reinforcing a culture of gratitude and motivation within the organization.   3. Compensation and Growth Opportunities Compensation and continuous growth opportunities are essential components of value-centric leadership. Sean highlights the significance of aligning compensation with market standards to ensure employees feel appreciated and fairly rewarded for their contributions. Moreover, he introduces the concept of micro-promotions, providing employees with opportunities to advance within their current roles while feeling recognized for their progression.   4. Showing Their Work Matters to the Organization Connecting employees with the organization's larger mission and vision is crucial. Sean shares a personal anecdote about attending a town hall that provided him with clarity on how his individual efforts contributed to the broader organizational goals. It's essential for leaders to contextualize employees' roles within the bigger picture, allowing them to understand their impact and value.   5. Championing Your Employees' Success Incorporating mentorship and sponsorship into the organizational culture is vital for championing employees' success. Sean stresses the importance of leaders advocating for their teams and actively promoting their accomplishments both within and outside the department. This fosters a sense of recognition and pride among employees, ultimately contributing to a positive and empowering work environment.   6. Practical Fiscal Responsibility Finally, Sean emphasizes the critical role of practical fiscal responsibility in value-centric leadership. Maintaining financial stability within the organization reassures employees about their job security, instilling a sense of trust and confidence. Leaders who effectively manage resources, control costs, and prioritize fiscal responsibility provide their teams with a stable and secure work environment.   The Principles of "You Don't Owe Happiness" The title of Sean's book, "You Don't Owe Happiness," encapsulates the essence of value-centric leadership. Sean draws parallels between employee happiness and the stock price of a company, noting that genuine employee satisfaction is an outcome of feeling valued and valuable within the organization. The principles outlined here align with his book's core message, reinforcing the idea that leaders owe their employees value, not just fleeting happiness.   Leading With Value Sean's strategies for implementing value-centric leadership within organizations provide a roadmap for creating a culture that prioritizes employee satisfaction and excellence in customer service delivery. Sean's journey from adversity to success, coupled with his impactful leadership principles, serves as a guiding light for leaders aspiring to build thriving and value-centric workplaces.   His real-world perspective on leading with empathy, authenticity, and strategic foresight to empower teams and drive organizational success provides valuable insights for leadership that creates irresistible workplaces.   What Sean Does for Fun In his free time, Sean values experiences and time spent with his family. He and his wife of 16 years enjoy fun experiences checking out restaurants and exploring new places to learn about different cultures and be in the moment. He also relishes time spent playing video games with his three sons, ranging in age from teenager to four-years-old.   To learn more about Sean's approach to value-centric leadership from his book “You Don't Owe Happiness,” visit his website at www.seanilenrey.com and connect with him on LinkedIn.   Watch the video here. On the eve of Big Brother 24, we are absolutely delighted to welcome Kevin Jacobs, winner of Big Brother Canada 10, to the show. Kevin played a subtlety dominant in the BBCAN house, shaping the trajectory of the game without ever besting a Head of Household competition, becoming the first winner to pull of that feat since the iconic Dr. Will Kirby back in BB2. Kevin shares his extensive knowledge of game theory, navigating the murky waters of the early game to survive a week one eviction, steering clear of the carnage wrought by BBCAN10's multiple seven-person alliances, and forging the Crash Test Dummies alliance that took center stage down the stretch. Ian throws in some Kant for good measure. Past seasons of Big Brother Canada are available on Paramount+.

Oralicious - A Tale of Sex

I was right all along, in that oral sex is not just about sex but a very intimate, passionate sexual act that should be respected. Sex is sex, but oral sex (a blow job or a little cunnilingus) is deeply personal and an awesome expression of sexuality. Passion can’t be denied when you are performing oral sex on the penis (my passion) or the pussy (aka The Lotus Flower). A great blow job or going down on your lady is all about passion and how you get lost while performing your action of love. That’s what oral sex and sex, period, is all about—what else fuels passion but love? #Oral #Oralsex #Pussy #Blowjob #BJ #Sexologist #AmberRose #DrChrisDonaghue #Head #GivingHead #Prince #NFL #ESPNNFL #CBSBB20 Support the show (https://oralicious.com/podcast/)

The Cult of Matt and Mark Archive01

What? You haven't seen the first Bad Boys? Sorry bro, you're totally not going to get Bad Boys 2. But if you dare, let Matt and Mark give you the neophyte's perspective. A quintessential Michael Bay action movie (although quintessential is a little too high bro) BB2 is a film lesson in why our current decade and a half has been a wretched low point in action film, devoid of suspense, care, or craftsmanship. BB2 is what happens when films are made purely based on marketing decisions, solely focused on profit margins. Michael Bay's talent lies in his ability to get asses in seats, $12.50 in hand, and for that, he and his ilk will unfortunately be with us for quite some time.Download: 121 Bad Boys 2

Stephen Doran has a pretty cool story to tell. He's a peak performance coach who's worked with many high flyers, including going on tour with Akon as his personal performance coach! But things haven't always been like this for Stephen.   He went from college dropout, to successful fireman, to a self-made millionaire with very little passion for what he was doing. So we talk about this in detail, and how Stephen assessed his life to discover what it is that makes him feel more purposeful. Now, he's a successful coach who puts out awesome stuff into this world and has even written a book, 'Burn the Bullshit', about overcoming limiting beliefs. In The Episode, We Talk About... Stephen's amazing story of going from college dropout to high level performance coach. Overcoming fears to get to where you want in life. An exercise for finding your 'passion income streams'. How 'thinking about your thinking' can help you master your mindset. What Stephen learned from being pushed to the physical brink on the BB2 series, Special Forces: Ultimate Hell Week. How you can breakthrough any limiting beliefs that are holding you back from living a happier, more 'success filled' life. And much more! Colin Marshall sits down in London's West End with Melvyn Bragg, Lord Bragg of Wigton, host of Sky Arts 1's The South Bank Show and BBC Radio 4's In Our Time as well as the writer of many works of fiction and nonfiction including, most recently, The Book of Books: The Radical Impact of the King James Bible and his latest novel Grace and Mary. They discuss when he began seeing culture as a whole, unstratified entity; what he learned in his working-class northern upbringing;  his brief days with his own pop group; his first getting an arts program on BB2 "almost by accident," and the opportunities he realized it gave him to showcase a "rainbow" of arts, rather than a "pyramid" with opera, no matter how lousy, ever at the top; when he began as a writer at Oxford, the institution that gave him his first "proper free time"; his enjoyment of not just the act but the discipline of putting pen to paper; how he gives In Our Time an edge by doing it live, with a minimum of beforehand interaction with his invited experts on the topic of the week; how his writing feeds ideas into his radio work; why, despite losing belief in "the finer points of Christianity," he felt nonetheless compelled to write a study of the importance of the King James Bible; his love of television and radio as "scatter media," offering an education at the push of a button; how he realized culture seemed to have displaced class as a means of identification; the benefits of not worrying about what you personally like or dislike, believe in or don't believe in, but the "why" of it, understanding making for a much more interesting experience than condemnation; what he found in the stratified London in which he first arrived in the early 1960s making thirteen pounds a week; how, subsequently, "people became the culture" there; and how London, in its current cultural moment, retains its status as "quite a city."

This podcast is about the modern grand piano. A full size piano usually has a compass of 7 1/4 octaves, from A0 to C8. For the notes A0 to A1 there is only one string per note, for the octave above (Bb1 to Bb2) two strings per note and for the notes above these three strings. All strings up to Bb2 are overwound to increase their mass per unit length. The plane and overwound strings have separate treble and bass bridges which are designed to give the correct balance between volume and sustain. Increasing bridge impedance increases the sustain but decreases the volume. The right sustaining pedal raises dampers to allow the strings to vibrate freely. Due to sympathetic vibrations, this affects the sound on even the highest notes which have no dampers. The left una corda pedal shifts the keyboard and action so that two instead of three strings are struck in the higher registers.
