Many critics inside and outside Parliament argue that Starmer showed poor political judgment by appointing Mandelson as UK Ambassador to the US despite known associations with Jeffrey Epstein. Leaked emails revealed Mandelson had defended or supported Epstein after his 2008 conviction, and expressed views questioning that conviction. Although some of these connections had long been reported, additional content and its extent were only fully disclosed after Mandelson's appointment. Opponents say Starmer should have immediately known that such red flags made the appointment untenable. The delay in reacting — first defending Mandelson, then firing him once the media published further revelations — has amplified the accusations of weak oversight and lack of risk assessment.Within the Labour Party, there's growing frustration over what many see as Starmer's misreading of both optics and substance. Backbenchers and senior MPs have called for full transparency about the vetting process: what he was told, when, and by whom. Opposing parties are demanding apologies to Epstein's victims, and some suggest that if Starmer cannot adequately account for these failures, his position could become unsustainable — especially if the controversy damages Labour's standing in upcoming local elections. The controversy feeds into a broader narrative among critics that Starmer has repeatedly made questionable appointments, and lacks decisiveness and political sharpness when warning signs emerge.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Keir Starmer breaks silence over Mandelson sacking: ‘Had I known then what I know now, I'd have never appointed him' | The Independent

Copernic Catalysts is developing next-generation chemical catalysts using computational materials design to replace century-old technology in the $80 billion ammonia industry. The company has raised $10 million and is working with top-five global ammonia producers to prove their Neptune catalyst can deliver tens of millions in annual savings per plant while reducing the industry's 1% contribution to global greenhouse gas emissions. In this episode, Jacob Grose shares insights from his journey from BASF venture capitalist to deep-tech founder, revealing how his team is navigating one of the most conservative B2B markets while building transformational technology for both current chemical production and future sustainable shipping fuels. Topics Discussed: The century-old ammonia catalyst problem and why the industry hasn't innovated Copernic's computational approach to rationally designing drop-in replacement catalysts The extreme conservatism of chemical industry customers and how to overcome it Multi-stage go-to-market strategy from lab samples to pilot demonstrations to commercial scale Using toll manufacturing partnerships to scale capital-efficiently while building customer trust The historical significance of ammonia synthesis and its role in feeding 8 billion people Building a platform technology for multiple catalyst products across different chemical markets GTM Lessons For B2B Founders: Navigate ultra-conservative B2B markets with staged proof: Jacob outlined a methodical approach for entering markets where customers are "terrified of change" due to tight margins and operational risks. Start with small lab samples to top customers, progress to pilot-scale demonstrations over 6-12 months, then secure commercial installations. This staged approach allows conservative buyers to gradually build confidence while de-risking their decision-making process. Leverage toll manufacturing for customer credibility and capital efficiency: Rather than building manufacturing capabilities, Copernic partners with established catalyst manufacturers using an "Apple model" - they own the IP while trusted partners handle production. This approach provides three key advantages: faster scale-up, capital efficiency, and most importantly, customer comfort with proven quality control systems. For deep-tech founders, partnering with established players can accelerate market acceptance. Turn industry conservatism into a competitive moat: While chemical industry conservatism creates barriers to entry, Jacob recognized it also creates powerful moats once you're established. Companies using 100-year-old iron-based catalysts represent massive switching costs and customer lock-in opportunities. Founders entering conservative industries should view initial resistance as future protection against competitors. Design for drop-in replacement adoption: Copernic deliberately engineered their catalyst to work within existing plant infrastructure, minimizing customer adoption friction. Jacob emphasized using "base metals" (common, inexpensive materials) and standard manufacturing techniques to ensure compatibility. When disrupting established industries, reducing implementation complexity can be more valuable than maximizing performance gains. Build technical credibility through domain expertise transfer: Jacob's nine years at BASF provided deep industry knowledge that proved essential for both product development and customer trust. His background in corporate venture capital gave him insights into how large chemical companies evaluate new technologies. Founders targeting specialized B2B markets should consider how domain expertise - whether through hiring, partnerships, or personal experience - can accelerate credibility and customer relationships. Position platform technology for multiple market opportunities: While focused on ammonia catalysts initially, Jacob positioned Copernic as a platform company with computational catalyst design capabilities applicable across multiple chemical markets. This platform approach appeals to investors seeking larger addressable markets while providing strategic flexibility as the company scales. // Sponsors: Front Lines — We help B2B tech companies launch, manage, and grow podcasts that drive demand, awareness, and thought leadership. www.FrontLines.io The Global Talent Co. — We help tech startups find, vet, hire, pay, and retain amazing marketing talent that costs 50-70% less than the US & Europe. www.GlobalTalent.co // Don't Miss: New Podcast Series — How I Hire Senior GTM leaders share the tactical hiring frameworks they use to build winning revenue teams. One of the biggest mistakes in the market, and in life... is Chasing. Chasing Money. Chasing Plays. Chasing Opportunities. Anytime you chase, you move with desperation, and desperation blinds your vision. The wealthy don't chase..They get in Position. Position means patience, discipline, and alignment. It means knowing your value so you don't run after what ain't for you. In the market, you don't chase the stock after it runs... you study, you wait, you position yourself before the move. Same thing in life: stop chasing validation, stop chasing shortcuts. Get in position through preparation, through consistency, through faith. Because when you're in position, blessings find you. Opportunities meet you where you are. Freedom comes to those who are ready, not those who are running behind. Don't chase, family. Get in position, and watch the market, and your Life, reward your Discipline.Join our Exclusive Patreon!!! Creating Financial Empowerment for those who've never had it.

November’s general election could bring a group of new faces to Seattle City Government. Today we’re diving into the race for City Council’s Position 8 seat. That’s a city-wide post, representing ALL of Seattle, as opposed to just one geographic district. The incumbent in this race is Councilmember Alexis Mercedes Rinck. She won the seat after a special election last year. Now, Rinck is widely seen as the most progressive voice on the council. In this summer’s primary, she got a whopping 78% of the vote. This fall, Rinck is facing off against a REPUBLICAN business owner in the general election: Rachel Savage.

In this episode of the Stronger Sales Team podcast, host Ben Wright is joined by Christian Hansen to explore what it takes to stand out and influence with impact in today's competitive market. Christian offers a compelling perspective on how professionals can position themselves to be chosen more often, highlighting the vital role of communication and authentic connection. Blending personal experiences with professional expertise, Christian introduces the concept of the “Influence Mindset” — the fusion of competence and genuine rapport to build lasting influence. He explains how subtle but powerful shifts in communication, from simply sharing knowledge to providing insight and wisdom, can set sales professionals apart. About the Guest: Christian Hansen is a globally recognised author and authority on shaping mindsets within sales environments. With extensive experience partnering with leading organisations worldwide, he has developed a profound understanding of the factors that enable both individuals and businesses to truly stand out. His acclaimed book, The Influence Mindset for Sales Acceleration, achieved number one bestseller status and has been endorsed by LinkedIn as an essential guide to modern marketing. Key Takeaways: Influence is achieved through a balance of competence and authentic connection, rather than relying on skill alone. Recognise the transition from performance-driven to selective environments, and tailor your approach to be chosen by demonstrating both insight and connection. Stand out by shifting your communication from showcasing experience and skills to offering genuine insight and wisdom. Build meaningful relationships through empathetic listening, ensuring others feel truly heard and understood. Elevate team performance by fostering a culture of positive recognition and genuine appreciation for individual contributions. How To Use Framing in Your Pitch Hello, this is Hall T. Martin with the Startup Funding Espresso -- your daily shot of startup funding and investing. In pitching investors, framing can be used to position the startup as a successful business. Framing is how you structure your message to shape how your audience perceives it. It can be used to generate credibility and overcome objections. Start with a problem statement and a compelling solution. Position the team as credible and trustworthy. Articulate the benefits of the solution throughout the pitch. Show how it aligns with the goals of the investor, which is to make a return. Contrast is a framing technique. Use it to show the difference between the current problem and the promised future of the solution. Start with what you want the audience to think and work back to the solution that creates that result. Positioning is another framing technique. On this episode of Christopher Lochhead: Follow Your Different, we welcome back marketing leader and author Laura Ries for the conclusion of their two-part conversation. If you haven't listened to part 1 or would like to remind yourself where we left off, you can check it out here for a quick recap (FYD 405). Laura shares insights from her new book, The Strategic Enemy, emphasizing the importance of defining what your brand stands against. The discussion covers lessons from her father Jack Trout's legacy, the power of positioning, and the role of visual storytelling in marketing. Laura has been on the frontlines of marketing for decades, carrying on the legacy of her father, Al Ries, and pushing the boundaries of positioning with her own punchy perspective. So what's the real difference-maker in a market crowding with noise, AI, and everyone vying for a sliver of attention? It's not merely being seen. It's being distinct, thanks to the power of strategic opposition. Join us as we get into it and more with Laura Ries. You're listening to Christopher Lochhead: Follow Your Different. We are the real dialogue podcast for people with a different mind. So get your mind in a different place, and hey ho, let's go. Opposition over Superiority Laura puts it in plain English: “The mind understands opposition faster than superiority.” Translation? If you want people to quickly get why they should care, you have to tell them what you're not. Chick-fil-A isn't just for chicken lovers, it's for people who are tired of burgers. In-N-Out doesn't bother with chicken or vegan burgers; they double down on a simple, hyper-focused menu that stakes out clear territory against the bells and whistles of modern fast food. When brands define WHO or WHAT they're battling, it's easier for us to pick sides. Defining an “enemy” isn't about trash talk, it's about clarity. It sharpens what your business stands for, attracts loyal fans, and carves out space the competition can't touch. Laura Ries on Finding Your Horse & Riding It This goes deeper than companies. The idea holds for personal brands, careers, even college choices. Laura recalls her father's (now out-of-print) classic “Horse Sense”: don't desperately try to do everything yourself; align yourself with the right “horse” (be it a category, a company, a person) and let synergy do the work. In a world of endless new tech and shifting industries, picking the right vehicle can be everything. Stop Chasing Attention. Start Picking Fights (the Smart Way) At the end of the day, nobody cares about your journey just for the sake of it. They care about how you make THEM matter, how you help them win THEIR battles, or fight an enemy they find worth taking down. So, next time you're tempted to “go viral,” ask yourself: Are you actually useful, or just noisy? Have you defined your enemy? Because if your brand (or your career) doesn't stand against something, it's just floating in the middle… and nobody roots for the middle. Laura's full-throttle approach: get clear, get focused, and don't be shy about drawing a line in the sand. Ever walked out of an “advocacy meeting” with your admin and thought, Is anything ever going to change? You brought the data. You showed the charts. You quoted the position statements. And still, you walked away with the same ridiculous caseload, or worse- another responsibility placed on your shoulders. All that effort doesn't move the needle. It just keeps you running in circles. In this episode of the School for School Counselors Podcast, I'm grading advocacy as it stands in our profession right now... and let's just say the report card isn't pretty.I'll unpack why the version of advocacy we've been handed sets us up to fail, the traps that keep us stuck shouting into the void, and four strategies that actually move the needle. If you've ever wondered why “advocating harder” hasn't worked for you (and what you can do differently), this episode is your permission slip to stop playing small and start leading with influence.References (Annotated)American School Counselor Association.
