POPULARITY
The Doctor Who publicity machine is slipping into second gear with Gatwa and Gibson making the rounds of a BBC premiere, chat shows, Variety Magazine, and more, but that doesn't stop the Three Who Rule from marinating in questionable nostalgia as they recall viewing The Phantom Menace for the first time 25 years ago, aka the Dawn of Anticipointment. Plus we issue an all hands on deck alert for next week's Gallifrey One Hotelmageddon, and Warren emerges from the Metaverse to give his take on the just released PS VR2 version of The Edge of Time! Truncated Doctor Who? Normally nerds would scream bloody murder at such impertinence, but not when it’s the official Doctor Who YouTube page with half hour versions of “The Masque of Mandragora” and “The Hand of Fear”! Other bibs and bobs this week included photos of Matt Smith trying on test outfits before he went full tweed, Big Finish news and Target book delays, but let’s be frank, you’re here for the second part of our look at look at director Douglas McKinnon’s work on “Listen”, “Time Heist”, “Flatline” and “The Husbands of River Song” in…the Miniscope! Doctor Who is back and so is the Who's He? Podcast! After Skype got over its little hiccup (thanks a bunch Skype), Phil and Paul at last were able chat about The Magician's Apprentice, episode 1 of series 9. And what an opening episode! Davros, Missy, Skaro, Daleks old and new and a man made out of snakes that glides around like Cliff Richard on roller skates! But what did Paul and Phil think of this story and was it worth the wait? Well, there were caveats to them enjoying this episode, in fact it has lot to do with the Doctor's guitar styling's to be exact! But towards the end both Phil and Paul start rambling like they were in a rest home for elderly gentlemen which may cause some people to switch off. And in the news it's the return of the dreaded stats, Jenna Coleman is confirmed as leaving Doctor Who, series 9 episodes titles have been released and more Big Finish Torchwood casting news.

We close out our companion miniseries in fine style with Liz's pick, "The Curse of Peladon". Join Deb, Erika, Katrina, and Liz as we discuss Jo's merits as a companion. They are many--especially in this story. There's a lot of Jo love, dissension among the ranks as to which Peladon story is better, and even some soul-searching. It's quite an episode! What do you think about Jo? Is she as awesome as the Verities think? Or do you still see her as a useless screamer?
