Following the release of his work, The War of the Worlds Did Not Take Place, Nick Susi joins the pod to unravel the real War of the Worlds myth: not alien panic, but a battle between newspapers and radio that manufactured mass hysteria. Phillip, Brian, and Nick explore how narrative form shapes collective memory, why brands weaponize conflict for attention, and what happens when everything becomes participatory fan fiction.Behind the Curtain of Inherited MythKey takeaways:Structured narratives outlast formless truth in collective memory.Brands now weaponize conflict and controversy for attention economics.Everything is becoming participatory, co-created, and infinite fan fiction."The War of the Worlds is not actually a war between humans and aliens. It's really this war between mediums." — Nick Susi"We've entered the phase of the attention economy where the game is attention at any and all costs." — Nick Susi"People don't want to share the thing. They want to share their experience of the thing." — W. Del Bigtree's new documentary “An Inconvenient Study” alleges Henry Ford Health suppressed a 2017-2020 research study suggesting vaccinated children develop more chronic diseases. The Detroit-based heath group issued a cease-and-desist against the film, claiming the vaccine study wasn't published because it failed their scientific standards, not due to a cover-up. But Del Bigtree – a multi-decade children's health advocate and RFK advisor – disagrees, and premiered the film on October 12 anyway. Del Bigtree is an Emmy-winning producer, journalist, and filmmaker. In this episode, I'm pulling back the curtain and sharing the real story behind my business.Mid-October marks five years since I took action on the idea of starting my own online presence — which eventually grew into the business I run today. It's wild to look back and see how far things have come!I was inspired to record this episode after watching a video from MrBeast, where he created clips saying “hi future me” in 5 and 10 years. Something about that really made me pause and reflect on my own journey — how it all began, how much has changed, and the countless lessons along the way.Sometimes people assume success happens overnight… but that's rarely the case. In this episode, I'm opening up about:The early days of starting from scratch with no audienceThe fears and doubts I had to overcome to take the first stepHow I slowly turned an idea into a thriving business that now helps moms all over the worldThe faith and persistence that kept me going when things felt unclear or slowThis is my honest, behind-the-scenes journey of how it all began — and I hope it encourages you to take that small step of obedience God is putting on your heart, even if you don't see the full picture yet.

When a warning light appears on your car's dashboard, you know something needs attention under the hood. Binge eating works exactly the same way. It's not a sign you're broken or lack willpower, it's your body saying, "Hey, something deeper needs your attention."The trouble is, most people try to "fix" binge eating by focusing on the food itself. They restrict harder, set more rules, and grit their teeth through cravings. But that approach is like slapping duct tape over your dashboard light and pretending the problem's solved. In this episode, binge eating coach Jane Pilger returns to help you get under the hood and understand what's really driving your binges. She explains the top reasons binging occurs, how to recognize when your nervous system is dysregulated, signs you're not eating enough, and the safety paradox that keeps you stuck in fear around certain foods. As the Iron Curtain was coming down in Eastern Europe in the 1990s, the gospel was on the move. Many in the “orthodox” churches were spiritually numb; they never read the Bible, never heard the gospel preached, and were, as a consequence, never changed by the Word of the King. But a gospel revival began as the Curtain fell, and those who came to a faith in Christ that transformed them were often mocked. They were called by a nickname called “repenters” for they were marked by soft hearts, their profound grief over their sins, and their willingness to turn from anything, everything, in their whole-hearted embrace of a completely new life as citizens of the Kingdom of God. I wonder if anyone would call us repenters? Let's find out Sunday!
Check out this weeks episode of Behind the Curtain and hear about Justin's new nightly affliction! We also talk to the legend, John Davis, from MPT's Motorweek. Our good friend Greg Nivens stops by to talk about Oktoberfest and... All because of an accidental DM were joined by Sophia and her husband, Minas, from Zorbas. They brought us a Greek feast and discussed their Greek heritage with us!
