Welcome to Episode 14 of the Mindset Sports Podcast "Faithful Forgiveness: Give Yourself Space & Grace to Grow". Some of you may be asking what do some of these episodes have to do with sports. And my answer is everything! Every aspect of your life affects the other. You may be in the best shape of your life physically but it's where you are at mentally that will always directly impact your performance. In our final episode with Brryan Jackson he gives us golden wisdom on how to forgive others but more importantly how to start forgiving ourselves. As we have heard in his prior two episodes Brryan has relied on his faith to face the challenges his circumstances have dealt him. In this episode he explains the triangle of balance and how he applies it to his life and how you can apply it to yours. My advice would be to listen intently because his wisdom has the potential to change your life. After listening to this episode I believe you will definitely consider forgiving, focusing on your faith & giving yourself space and grace to grow! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mindset-sports/support
Welcome to Episode 13 of the Mindset Sports Podcast "You are Worthy, You are Worth It & You are Loved". In our 2nd episode with speaker & coach Brryan Jackson we learn that he went nearly 17 years of his life before he felt accepted as a part of something outside of his own home. Most of the obstacles laid in front of Brryan were out of his control, yet he continued to persevere and look for a place where he fit in. We've all witnessed rejection and the emptiness it leaves inside. The lack of self-worth and the desire to just fit in. It's unfathomable to think of all of the years Brryan felt rejected and not wanted. It's amazing to learn how Brryan fought through his no's until he finally found a yes in sport he hadn't imagined. I think we can all relate to wanting to feel, worthy, worth it and loved. This episode will inspire and motivate you to keep working towards your goals! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/mindset-sports/support

The cherry on top of our first season, this bonus episode features more of Frank, Hillel, and Brryan's stories. Frank and Hillel, who live on opposite coasts of the US, share what it was like for them to live through through the AIDS crisis in the 1980s and 90s. This is it, y'all: the season finale. This week we’re talking about HIV/AIDS, one of the biggest pandemics of modern times. We were fortunate enough to speak with three individuals who have had vastly different experiences with HIV/AIDS. Frank Iamelli, who took care of many of his friends throughout the epidemic, Hillel Wasserman, who has been living with HIV since 1987, and Brryan Jackson who was diagnosed with AIDS when he was only 5 years old. In this episode, you'll get a glimpse into their stories and then we'll fill you in on all of the biology, history, and present state of HIV in the world. Don’t forget to tune in next week for our special bonus episode where you will get to hear more of Frank, Hillel, and Brryan's stories in depth. In the meantime, here are a couple of links to Brryan's website and Being Alive LA which you'll hear more about next week!
Brryan and I talk about his extraordinary story of being injected with HIV by his father, victim or victory, defying the odds, forgiveness frees you, don't need to move mountains just take 2 steps, bitterness for the past - let it go!, do something today that brings hope for tomorrow, setting boundaries, parole, St. Louis Honor Flight, rockstar mom, the grass is greener where you water it, perfect is boring.
When Bryyan Jackson was a baby, his father entered his hospital room and injected a syringe of HIV-tainted blood into his tiny body. At times during his childhood, he was expected to die. Now 18, he'll put on his black cap and gown and graduate from High School in St. Charles, near St. Louis. Shielded from the public for much of his life since his father's high-profile criminal trial a decade ago, Brryan is now an outspoken advocate for people with AIDS, and the power of faith and forgiveness. Brryan has started a nonprofit called Hope Is Vital. He will work this summer with Project Kindle, a Valencia, Calif.-based organization that sponsors summer camps for children affected by the disease. He also serves as a speaker with that group and a St. Peters, Mo.-based ministry, Upward Bound Ministries.
