Our guest today is Ocean Rasso. Ocean is a dynamic 14-year-old voice in the fight for liberty and conservative values. At just 14 years old, this passionate advocate has already made waves as a speaker and champion of freedom, faith, and community involvement. Ocean inspires others to engage in local governance and stand firm in their beliefs. 1) What inspired you to become such a passionate advocate for freedom and liberty, and how has your faith shaped your mission? 2) You seem to truly understand that, “Freedom is always at risk of extinction.” What are the biggest threats to liberty you see today, and how can people actively counter them? 3) You've publicly supported US Congressman Andy Biggs for Arizona's governor. What qualities or policies make him the right leader for the state, in your view? 4) Apathy is truly our biggest hurdle: How do you approach motivating people who feel disconnected or apathetic about political or civic engagement? 5) How can younger generations be encouraged to embrace the fight for liberty and take an active role in their communities? 6) How do people follow you? Even chasing top grades feels hollow, like running a race without knowing why. In the US, more teens show up to school but mentally check out. In China, a similar apathy is called 'hollow heart disorder'—a spiritual emptiness despite success. So why are teens losing their spark for learning? On the show: Heyang, Steve Hatherly & Yushun

There's a famous quote attributed to Heifetz (or any number of different folks) - that if I don't practice one day, I know it; two days, the critics know it; three days, the public knows it.So does that mean that we can't afford to take any days off, if we're truly serious about our craft? And what does it mean if we start to feel burned out and stale?Well...it could be my imagination, but I swear I once saw a video in which Heifetz said that he always took one day off from practicing a week. And I've heard a number of well-known musicians encourage students to take a day, or at least 24 hours off every week. So maybe it doesn't have to be "all gas, no brakes?"Get all the nerdy details here:Pre-Performance Apathy (and the Importance of Mentally Disengaging From Practice)* * *Have you ever wondered why it is exactly that things often sound better at home than they do on stage? If you've been confused (and frustrated) by the inconsistency of your performances, I put together a FREE 4-minute quiz called the Mental Skills Audit, which will help you pinpoint your mental strengths and weaknesses, and figure out what exactly to adjust and tweak in your preparation for more consistently optimal performances. It's 100% free, takes only 4 minutes, and you'll get a downloadable PDF with a personalized breakdown of where you stand in six key mental skill areas. Do you talk with believers that are apathetic towards world missions? Perhaps you're currently discipling someone who can't seem to get out of their comfort zone. If so, today's episode of the Gospel Mobilization Podcast will equip you with practical ideas as you have these difficult conversations. Our host, Dave Jacob, sat down with Scott Hildreth, the associate professor of missiology and associate dean of the ministry preparation area at Southeastern Seminary. A former missionary himself, Scott is working to educate and mobilize the next generation of missionaries. Here's what Dave asked:   1. What is your story of how the Lord “awakened the missionary within you”?   2. In a culture that values exploring the world as an opportunity to see exotic places and experience new things, how do we develop a heart sensitive to the world's vast lostness and need for the gospel?   3. In your book, you write, “Far too many of us live out the words of John Ryland: ‘If God wants to reach them, He can do it without my help.'” Where does this idea come from? What's wrong with it? What does it reveal about us?   4. According to a study from Lifeway Research, more than 2 in 3 U.S. Protestant pastors (67%) believe comfort is an idol that has significant influence on their congregations. How can mobilizers help others overcome this apathy and comfort?   5. Throughout the text you break down the Great Commission and note that it is for all believers. Unpack that a little bit for us.   6. How can mobilizers use this text as a mobilization tool?   7. What do you hope this book does for believers who read it?

Depression, anxiety, and apathy are common symptoms that are often overlooked in people with Parkinson's disease (PD). Nearly half of those living with PD are likely to experience depression or anxiety at some point, but these non-motor symptoms often go unrecognized and undertreated. Because their signs can overlap and mimic one another, it can be challenging to pinpoint exactly what someone is going through. Depression is known for feelings of persistent sadness or hopelessness. Anxiety might look like constant worry, excessive nervousness, or getting upset easily. Apathy, which is sometimes mistaken for depression, is the lack of motivation or interest to do things you used to enjoy. These symptoms can greatly impact your quality of life and worsen other PD symptoms.  In this episode, we speak with Lauren Zelouf, MSW, LCSW from Penn Medicine's Parkinson's Disease & Movement Disorders Center, a Parkinson's Foundation Center of Excellence. She shares how to distinguish among these different symptoms, emphasizes the importance of recognizing the signs, and offers coping strategies for managing symptoms and seeking support. Jesus, Jonah, and Easter Mosaic of Redemption Essential Church April 13, 2025   SUMMARY The message begins with a conversation about a grocery store incident, highlighting themes of apathy and the importance of taking action when witnessing wrongdoing. The pastor then transitions into a sermon, using the story of Jonah from the Old Testament to draw parallels with Jesus Christ. Jonah is portrayed as an antihero, someone who reluctantly fulfills God's mission despite his initial resistance. The narrative explores Jonah's disobedience when God calls him to preach to Nineveh, a city in the Assyrian Empire, known for its brutality. Jonah's attempt to flee results in a storm, leading to his sacrifice and being swallowed by a whale for three days and nights, drawing a parallel to Jesus' resurrection. The pastor delves into the historical context of Israel, explaining its division into the northern and southern kingdoms and its role as God's chosen people meant to be a blessing to all nations. The story of Jonah is retold with Israel's mission in mind, emphasizing God's desire for Israel to share His message with others. The sermon concludes with a reflection on the open-ended nature of Jonah's story and its relevance to the audience. The pastor challenges listeners to consider their role in sharing the message of salvation, especially with the approach of Easter, encouraging them to invite others to experience God's grace. DESCRIPTION 1. **Apathy vs. Action**: How do you interpret the conversation about apathy and violence at the beginning of the Project? What role do you think individuals should play when witnessing injustice or wrongdoing? 2. **Jonah as an Antihero**: In what ways does Jonah's character challenge traditional notions of a hero in biblical narratives? How does his story reflect the complexities of human nature? 3. **Historical Context**: How does understanding the historical and cultural context of Jonah's story enhance your interpretation of its message? 4. **Parallels with Jesus**: What are the significant parallels between Jonah's story and the life of Jesus? How do these connections deepen your understanding of the New Testament? 5. **Israel's Role**: Discuss the concept of Israel as God's chosen people. How does this role translate into responsibilities and expectations in the biblical narrative? 6. **Open-Ended Story**: The story of Jonah ends with uncertainty. How does this open-ended conclusion affect your interpretation of the narrative? What lessons can be drawn from this ambiguity? 7. **Personal Reflection**: Reflect on the message of sharing God's blessings with others. How can you apply this principle in your own life, especially in the context of upcoming events like Easter? 8. **Modern-Day Application**: How can the themes of Jonah's story be applied to contemporary issues of social justice and community responsibility?

The episode slash dance party you are about to hear was released on May 27, 2021, and the Guild had just as much fun preparing for it as we did recording it. With solid evidence on anxiety and apathy from Harvard Business school and how this entangles with all things Britney Spears, we had hours of pop lyrics to study in order to flex our metaphorical moves. I knew we had to revisit this one, if for no other reason than so we can say “Oops We Did it, Again.” So let's all hit this Baby, One more time.

A lot of what we experience is complicated. Jay's talk from today is not one of them. It's unacceptable to accept atrocities because it's either convenient or too distant to feel real. It's beautiful that Dr. King provided us a road map long ago that is still applicable today. Let this talk sink in and consider how we can all work towards peace for all our brothers and sisters. We explore the significance of the cup of suffering, representing God's wrath, which Jesus willingly accepts for humanity's sins. Despite the disciples' apathy, Jesus's love and sacrifice offer profound forgiveness and redemption. How can we pray for you? tinyurl.com/stmarcusprayersFill out our online connection card: tinyurl.com/stmarcusconnectcardIf you'd like to leave an offering or monetary donation to our ministry please click here: https://tinyurl.com/stmarcusgive
