SHOW NOTES:   In Podcast Episode 323, “The Miracle of Divine Insight,” Kim discusses the pattern of divine insights received and shared by the prophet Elisha. As we have walked through the stories of Elisha and his ministry, we have encountered multiple times in which Elisha knew information he had not received through human means. He had the inside scoop or the “before it happened” information. Why did the Lord trust Him with so many insights, and why might the Lord withhold insights from many followers today? Please tune in to hear Kim discuss some of her thoughts.   Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 6:32-7:2:   32 Elisha was sitting in his house with the elders of Israel when the king sent a messenger to summon him. But before the messenger arrived, Elisha said to the elders, “A murderer has sent a man to cut off my head. When he arrives, shut the door and keep him out. We will soon hear his master's steps following him.” 33 While Elisha was still saying this, the messenger arrived. And the king said, “All this misery is from the Lord! Why should I wait for the Lord any longer?” 1 Elisha replied, “Listen to this message from the Lord! This is what the Lord says: By this time tomorrow in the markets of Samaria, six quarts of choice flour will cost only one piece of silver, and twelve quarts of barley grain will cost only one piece of silver.” 2 The officer assisting the king said to the man of God, “That couldn't happen even if the Lord opened the windows of heaven!” But Elisha replied, “You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won't be able to eat any of it!”   WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE:   Have you ever personally experienced the miracle of divine insight?   Additional Resources and Scriptures:   From Got Questions — “The biblical definition of a miracle would be something like this: ‘an event that involves the direct and powerful action of God, transcending the ordinary laws of nature and defying common expectations of behavior.' Miracles are extraordinary occurrences that can only be attributed to the supernatural work of God and demonstrate His involvement in human history.“ 27 But when she came to the man of God at the mountain, she fell to the ground before him and caught hold of his feet. Gehazi began to push her away, but the man of God said, “Leave her alone. She is deeply troubled, but the Lord has not told me what it is.” (2 Kings 4:27) 48 “How do you know about me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus replied, “I could see you under the fig tree before Philip found you.” (John 1:48) EMAIL — encouragingothersinlovingjesus@gmail.com TWITTER - https://twitter.com/EOinLovingJesus INSTAGRAM -  https://www.instagram.com/encouragingothersinlovingjesus/ “Encouraging Others in Loving Jesus” YouTube Channel: Check it out at https://www.youtube.com/@EncouragingOthersInLovingJesus I WANT TO BEGIN A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST.   RESOURCES USED FOR BOOK OF 1 & 2 Kings PODCASTS: “The Wiersbe Bible Commentary: The Complete Old Testament OT in One Volume” “Christ-Centered Exposition: Exalting Jesus in 1 & 2 Kings” by Tony Merida “The Tony Evans Bible Commentary: Advancing God's Kingdom Agenda” “Life Application Study Bible” “The Swindoll Study Bible: NLT” by Charles R. WHAT HAPPENS IN THIS EPISODE: Jesus tells stories in this episode of Jesus Stories! Jesus was the consummate storyteller. But his stories all had a purpose. They were used to teach secrets about the Kingdom. These are secrets that some can hear and understand; others cannot. We go through some of Jesus' stories in this episode including the explanations which Jesus offers to his disciples. Then, we begin telling the stories of Jesus' miracles. We watch as Jesus stills a storm at sea. And we meet a man who is possessed by a Legion of demons – until Jesus meets him. SHOW NOTES:   In Podcast Episode 322, “Quicker to Point Fingers Than Bow Knees,” Kim discusses the importance of prayer and self-reflection amid challenging circumstances. Like King Joram in our story today, we struggle with the temptation to blame others and/or God when trouble comes our way. And, yes, sometimes the choices of others do lead to difficult circumstances for many. However, no matter the challenge and no matter the source(s), we can still go to the Lord and be drawn closer to Him in the process. Waste no opportunity to seek Him.   Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 6:24-31 with 30-31 as the focal verse:   30 When the king heard this, he tore his clothes in despair. And as the king walked along the wall, the people could see that he was wearing burlap under his robe next to his skin. 31 “May God strike me and even kill me if I don't separate Elisha's head from his shoulders this very day,” the king vowed.     WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE:   Do you have a tendency to be quicker to point fingers at others than to look inside your own heart?   Additional Resources and Scriptures:   14 Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. SHOW NOTES:   In Podcast Episode 321, “Open Their Eyes and Let Them See,” Kim discusses the uplifting story in 2 Kings 6, as the prophet Elisha continues to be God's messenger. In the 22nd message of our "Unveiling Yahweh" series, we will be looking at the Wisdom of God. Man's wisdom and God's wisdom couldn't be more different from one another. We see wisdom as simply intellect, but God's wisdom is a life of goodness and righteousness – two things which we, in our sinful state, desperately need. Thankfully, God provided the way to come into this kind of wisdom: through the Cross of Jesus Christ. In today's sermon, we dive deep into the wisdom of the Cross as revealed in 1 Corinthians 1.   Scripture quotations are from The ESV® Bible (The Holy Bible, English Standard Version®), copyright © 2001 by Crossway, a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers. SHOW NOTES:   In Podcast Episode 319, “Even God's Faithful Aren't Immune to Betrayal,” Kim discusses the sting of betrayal. Whether the betrayal is in a personal relationship, or someone in authority betrayed you, the pain can be life-changing. Yet, when the betrayal is in a church or ministerial context, there are added layers of hurt. Join Kim as she explores two stories from scripture that describe betrayal. Why does the Gospel of Mark make specific and repeated reference to the compassion of Jesus in the miracle stories? Compassion and the Characterization of the Markan Jesus (Brill, 2024) discusses the function that compassion has in the Markan characterization of Jesus, particularly in how the terminology employed depicts Jesus as entering the suffering of others. In doing so, it underscores how this portrayal is exceptional among the stories of miracle workers in ancient Greco-Roman and Jewish literature. In Mark, this compassion toward the suffering other is a central feature of the kingdom of God, an attribute the Markan audience is challenged to emulate. Jonathan W. Bryant, Ph.D (2023), Loyola University Chicago, is Senior Editor of Bibles and Bible reference works at Tyndale House Publishers and is an ordained minister of The Wesleyan Church. Jonathon Lookadoo is Associate Professor at the Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary in Seoul, South Korea. SHOW NOTES:   In Podcast Episode 318, “But God, My Way Would Be Better,” Kim discusses the human tendency to question how God does things and the temptation to believe we could do better if the decisions were up to us. Naaman, the commander of the Aramean army, was not pleased with how God's prophet Elisha addressed his request to be healed. He thought it would be handled a certain way, and when it wasn't, he was angry. Before we condemn Naaman for his attitude, let's examine our own hearts.   Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 5:1-19 with 11-12 as the focal verses:   11 But Naaman became angry and stalked away. “I thought he would certainly come out to meet me!” he said. “I expected him to wave his hand over the leprosy and call on the name of the Lord his God and heal me! 12 Aren't the rivers of Damascus, the Abana and the Pharpar, better than any of the rivers of Israel? Why shouldn't I wash in them and be healed?” So Naaman turned and went away in a rage.     WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE:   When have you last questioned the Lord's methods? What insights do you now have?   Additional Resources and Scriptures:   “If It Was Up to Me” by Ben Fuller ft.
