SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 352, “Healthy Response to Godly Confrontation,” Kim discusses the importance of accepting godly confrontation with humility. Not only should Christ followers accept godly confrontation well, but confronting others in a godly manner is also important. Kim provides two scriptural examples of those courageous enough to confront others and the godly responses of the recipients. Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Chronicles 28:9-15 with 9, 12-13 as the focal verses: 9 But a prophet of the Lord named Oded was there in Samaria when the army of Israel returned home. He went out to meet them and said, “The Lord, the God of your ancestors, was angry with Judah and let you defeat them. But you have gone too far, killing them without mercy, and all heaven is disturbed. 12 Then some of the leaders of Israel—Azariah son of Jehohanan, Berekiah son of Meshillemoth, Jehizkiah son of Shallum, and Amasa son of Hadlai—agreed with this and confronted the men returning from battle. 13 “You must not bring the prisoners here!” they declared. “We cannot afford to add to our sins and guilt. Our guilt is already great, and the Lord's fierce anger is already turned against Israel.” WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE: How do you respond to Godly confrontation? SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 351, “When Personal Choices Destroy Many,” Kim discusses the poor choices made by King Ahaz of Judah and how those negatively impacted hundreds of thousands of his own people. Rarely do any of us realize just how much impact our personal choices can make on others. Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Chronicles 28:1-8, with 5-6 as the focal verses: 5 Because of all this, the Lord his God allowed the king of Aram to defeat Ahaz and to exile large numbers of his people to Damascus. The armies of the king of Israel also defeated Ahaz and inflicted many casualties on his army. 6 In a single day Pekah son of Remaliah, Israel's king, killed 120,000 of Judah's troops, all of them experienced warriors, because they had abandoned the Lord, the God of their ancestors. Advent—the time in between—is here. But many of us struggle to feel “Christmas-y” when life isn’t where we hoped it would be. If peace feels out of tune for you right now, this episode is for you. Join Rev. Trudy and Rev. Brittany – two of the three female pastors of First United Methodist Church of San Diego – as they discuss their Advent Mixtape, exploring how ancient and modern songs can ground us in peace in a world that never stops moving. While most Christmas songs feel light, airy, and escapist – giving the false perception that peace is only achievable in stillness and calm, David’s Psalmody, Psalm 96 – one of the “lesser-known songs of Christmas” – provides a more honest and hopeful vision of peace. In this progressive digital Bible-study conversation, explore: The meaning of Advent as a season of the in-between What “salvation” means in the Hebrew Bible and Psalms How nature participates in healing, peace, and salvation The difference between societal peace and inward peace Practices and touchstones to stay centered amid holiday chaos How music helps reset our anxiety and restore calm We invite you to keep the conversation going as you journey through Advent. Join our in-person Convergence group, visit our Patreon Channel, or gather friends and family to discuss these reflection questions: What role does music play in your wellbeing? What is the “in-between” of here and not yet that you are in right now? What role does nature play in your understanding of being made whole? Want to hear the rest of Our Advent Mixtape? Join us for Season 3, Episodes 14-16, for reflections on hope, joy, and love. New episodes drop Sunday mornings. In today’s episode, we share a selection from Psalm 96 (NRSV), and, as a bonus treat, the full psalm from The Message translation below. As you read it, consider: What tune do you think would fit this modern translation of the ancient song? Psalms 96 1-2a Sing God a brand-new song! Earth and everyone in it, sing! Sing to God—worship God! 2b-3 Shout the news of his victory from sea to sea, Take the news of his glory to the lost, News of his wonders to one and all! 4-5a For God is great, and worth a thousand Hallelujahs. His furious beauty puts the other gods to shame; Pagan gods are mere tatters and rags. 5b-6 God made the heavens— Royal splendor radiates from him, A powerful beauty sets him apart. 7Bravo, God, Bravo! Everyone join in the great shout: Encore! In awe before the beauty, in awe before the might. 8-9Bring gifts and celebrate, Bow before the beauty of God, Then to your knees—everyone worship! 10Get out the message—God Rules! He put the world on a firm foundation; He treats everyone fair and square. 11Let’s hear it from Sky, With Earth joining in, And a huge round of applause from Sea. 12Let Wilderness turn cartwheels, Animals, come dance, Put every tree of the forest in the choir— 13An extravaganza before God as he comes, As he comes to set everything right on earth, Set everything right, treat everyone fair. Welcome to Courageous Leadership with Virginia Prodan #Podcast. Topis: How to handle Politics at Thanksgiving dinner - Virginia Prodan A third of Americans say politics strained their family. It's hurting each of us, and our country. 16% of Americans say a recent Thanksgiving has been spoiled by political fights. Therefore, 1 in 5 Americans now say none of their friends have different political views. They totally separated from others with a different political view. Division - the sign of Socialism in America. My recommendation to you is go to Thanksgiving dinner - and bring together people who have a different view or voted differently. Thanksgiving is — a holiday that most Americans celebrate, often with family and friends. No matter what happened in the past, we need to be with family and friends on Thanksgiving. As Americans we could use quality time together. We need to find ways to create unity. But how? In this episode Virginia shares the 3 ways we can do it. Virginia Prodan is a freedom fighter and believes that we as Americans can be united. Virginia fought and won against Socialism in Romania. She is fighting for freedom and unity here in America - as a International KeyNote Speaker; Author at Tyndale House Publishers; Allied Attorney with Alliance Defending Freedom; Host of Courageous Leadership with Virginia Prodan #Podcast. Virginia helps you to be united as Americans and fight against #Socialism - not against each other. Virginia shares why being united is important in America today; why our unity will have long lasting implications. She will share specific ways: - to understand the atrocities of Socialism that is based on creating division among people; - the actions we need to use to create unity at Thanksgiving dinner or every day; - and how to fight and win against the Socialism spreading in America, and its divisions to preserve our freedom. --- Subscribe for free to Courageous Leadership with Virginia Prodan #Podcast - here : https://open.spotify.com/show/7kHPeoAgbkAHCg2C6RApEZ - to hear encouraging & inspiring messages. ----- Order your autographed copy(s) of #SavingMyAssassin by Virginia Prodan - directly here: https://virginiaprodanbooks.com/product/book/ ------ Invite Virginia Prodan to speak at your events -: https://virginiaprodanbooks.com/invite-virginia/ ----- Donate to Virginia Prodan #Ministries - here: https://www.virginiaprodan.com/donate/ ----- Subscribe to our Youtube Channel - here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSlM_aAfLxHXTaI05Skv1WQ Watch also our Youtube video - we prepared for you : Hope for America: https://youtu.be/FZKxdSNYLzk?si=zQUGJRFEPBjFcbT3 We love to hear from you. WHAT HAPPENS IN THIS EPISODE? This Jesus Stories episode dives deep into Jesus second “I am” statement: “I AM the light of the world.” What does that mean? Where does that come from? What does it mean for us? How should it affect our lives? And how does Thanksgiving play into this statement? There's a lot to think about in this episode. SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 350, “Who Do You Imitate?” Kim discusses the importance of being very careful in choosing who you imitate. Kim shared the sentiment of a song written about 20 years ago that showed what it might look like when someone imitates another's not so honorable behaviors, but also how the imitation of healthy behaviors might look. Be careful who you imitate, making sure to live a life that points any who choose to follow you to Christ and Christlikeness. Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Chronicles 28:1-4, with 2 and 3 as the focal verses: 2 Instead, he followed the example of the kings of Israel. He cast metal images for the worship of Baal. 3 He offered sacrifices in the valley of Ben-Hinnom, even sacrificing his own sons in the fire. In this way, he followed the detestable practices of the pagan nations the Lord had driven from the land ahead of the Israelites. WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE: The Apostle Paul told the Corinthians to imitate him as he imitated Christ. Is your current Christ walk so that you would be willing to tell someone to imitate you? If not, what needs to change? Additional Resources and Scriptures: 1 And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ. Third Sunday of End Time—Saints Triumphant Bible Readings Malachi 4:1-6, Luke 21:5–19, 2 Thessalonians 1:5–10 Worship Folder Pastor Paul A. Tullberg Sermon text: Luke 21:5–19 Jesus Speaks about the Future 5 Some of his disciples began talking about the majestic stonework of the Temple and the memorial decorations on the walls. But Jesus said, 6 “The time is coming when all these things will be completely demolished. Not one stone will be left on top of another!” 7 “Teacher,” they asked, “when will all this happen? What sign will show us that these things are about to take place?” 8 He replied, “Don't let anyone mislead you, for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,' and saying, ‘The time has come!' But don't believe them. 9 And when you hear of wars and insurrections, don't panic. Yes, these things must take place first, but the end won't follow immediately.” 10 Then he added, “Nation will go to war against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. 11 There will be great earthquakes, and there will be famines and plagues in many lands, and there will be terrifying things and great miraculous signs from heaven. 12 “But before all this occurs, there will be a time of great persecution. You will be dragged into synagogues and prisons, and you will stand trial before kings and governors because you are my followers. 13 But this will be your opportunity to tell them about me. 14 So don't worry in advance about how to answer the charges against you, 15 for I will give you the right words and such wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to reply or refute you! 16 Even those closest to you—your parents, brothers, relatives, and friends—will betray you. They will even kill some of you. 17 And everyone will hate you because you are my followers. 18 But not a hair of your head will perish! 19 By standing firm, you will win your souls. SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 349, “Be Careful to Live in Obedience to God,” Kim discusses the difference between the legacies of the kings Uzziah and his son Jotham. King Jotham made one choice his father obviously did not, at least when their power continued to grow: “he was careful to live in obedience to the Lord his God.” Let's all learn from his example and determine how to be more careful in our lives. Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Chronicles 27:1-9, with 6 as the focal verse, compared to 2 Chronicles 26:16: 6 King Jotham became powerful because he was careful to live in obedience to the Lord his God. 16 But when he had become powerful, he also became proud, which led to his downfall. He sinned against the Lord his God by entering the sanctuary of the Lord's Temple and personally burning incense on the incense altar. Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost Bible Readings Isaiah 65:17–25, Luke 20:27-38, Revelation 22:1-5, Worship Folder Pastor Paul A. Tullberg Sermon text: Isaiah 65:17–25 17 “Look! I am creating new heavens and a new earth, and no one will even think about the old ones anymore. 18 Be glad; rejoice forever in my creation! And look! I will create Jerusalem as a place of happiness. Her people will be a source of joy. 19 I will rejoice over Jerusalem and delight in my people. And the sound of weeping and crying will be heard in it no more. 20 “No longer will babies die when only a few days old. No longer will adults die before they have lived a full life. No longer will people be considered old at one hundred! Only the cursed will die that young! 21 In those days people will live in the houses they build and eat the fruit of their own vineyards. 22 Unlike the past, invaders will not take their houses and confiscate their vineyards. For my people will live as long as trees, and my chosen ones will have time to enjoy their hard-won gains. 23 They will not work in vain, and their children will not be doomed to misfortune. For they are people blessed by the Lord, and their children, too, will be blessed. 24 I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers! 25 The wolf and the lamb will feed together. The lion will eat hay like a cow. But the snakes will eat dust. In those days no one will be hurt or destroyed on my holy mountain. I, the Lord, have spoken!” Holy Bible, New Living Translation, copyright © 1996, 2004, 2015 by Tyndale House Foundation. SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 348, “They Refused to Turn from the Sins,” Kim discusses the ungodly patterns that can carry forward in families and organizations. In today's text, we see evil patterns in families and in non-familial leadership lines. Always remember you can choose to stop unhealthy patterns and pass along healthy ones to future generations. Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 15:8-31, with 9 as the focal verse: 9 Zechariah did what was evil in the Lord's sight, as his ancestors had done. He refused to turn from the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had led Israel to commit. WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE: What unhealthy patterns have you refused to turn from? WHAT HAPPENS IN THIS EPISODE? In this Jesus Stories episode, Jesus tells his listeners of his identity. However, the Pharisees and other Jews spend more time arguing than listening. Jesus challenges them with his words and reveals who he is, where he has come from, and from where he has received his authority. That doesn't set well with the teachers and Pharisees. Although, some others believe. I break down this teaching to help you understand this interchange. SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 347, “Power, Pride, and the Plummet,” Kim discusses the humiliating fall of the puffed-up King Uzziah of the Southern Kingdom. As long as he feared the Lord and sought guidance from the Lord, he had a successful life, and the kingdom of Judah thrived. Yet, at some point, his eyes left the Lord and his purposes, and began to consider himself above respect for God and His law. May each of us learn from Uzziah's tragic end. Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Chronicles 26:16-23, with 16 as the focal verse: “But when he had become powerful, he also became proud, which led to his downfall. He sinned against the Lord his God by entering the sanctuary of the Lord's Temple and personally burning incense on the incense altar.” WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE: Humbly pray the prayer provided below and fully submit to the Spirit's leading. PRAYER AGAINST PRIDE Heavenly Father, You are the Lord Almighty, the One who resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). We come before You today, confessing that pride has crept into our hearts like a silent thief, stealing our dependence on You. Forgive us, Lord, when we have thought too highly of ourselves, when we have sought our own glory instead of Yours. Like King Uzziah, we have sometimes trusted in our success, our strength, our wisdom— and forgotten that “Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18). Break our hearts where pride has taken root. “Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10). Search us and reveal any arrogance, self-reliance, or desire to be seen by others. Help us to “humble ourselves under Your mighty power” (1 Peter 5:6), knowing that You alone are worthy of praise. Teach us to walk in the fear of the Lord, for “true humility and fear of the Lord lead to riches, honor, and long life” (Proverbs 22:4). Clothe us with humility, as You clothed Your Son, Jesus, who “humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal's death on a cross” (Philippians 2:8). May we never stand on the precipice of pride, but instead “boast only about the Lord” (1 Corinthians 1:31), and “take delight in honoring each other” (Romans 12:10). Guard our hearts, our words, and our actions. Let “everything we do… bring glory to God” (1 Corinthians 10:31), and keep us low at the foot of the cross, where true greatness is found in serving, not in being served. In the name of Jesus Christ, our humble King, we pray. Amen. (Grok, Oct. 31, 2025) Additional Resources and Scriptures: 8 Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. 9 Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor. (James 4:8-10) 16 There are six things the Lord hates—no, seven things he detests: 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent, 18 a heart that plots evil, feet that race to do wrong, 19 a false witness who pours out lies, a person who sows discord in a family. (Proverbs 6:16-19) 18 Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall. (Proverbs 16:18) 2 Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 346, “The Lord Gave Me Marvelous Help,” Kim discusses the story of King Uzziah and how the Lord provided “marvelous help” as long as Uzziah feared the Lord and sought guidance from Him. She challenged listeners to reflect on their own stories of the Lord's marvelous help, using some of her own stories to encourage others to share their stories with others. Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Chronicles 26:11-15, with 15 as the focal verse: 15 And he built structures on the walls of Jerusalem, designed by experts to protect those who shot arrows and hurled large stones from the towers and the corners of the wall. What happens in this episode? Jesus has made a startling statement in the middle of a joyous Jewish festival. “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.'” But what does this mean? We dig into this declaration and break it down for you. SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 345, “Personal Passions of the Powerful,” Kim discusses the importance of recognizing the personal aspects of the public personalities who impact large groups of people. Kim shared some of the unique passions of former and current world leaders and personalities, as well as King Uzziah love for the soil. When we pray for world leaders, we need to be reminded that each one is a human for whom Christ died. Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Chronicles 26:6-10, with 10 as the focal verse: 10 He also constructed forts in the wilderness and dug many water cisterns, because he kept great herds of livestock in the foothills of Judah and on the plains. He was also a man who loved the soil. He had many workers who cared for his farms and vineyards, both on the hillsides and in the fertile valleys. SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 344, “Who Taught You to Fear God?” Kim discusses the difference a consistent practice of healthy fear of the Lord will make in your daily life. In today's focal passage, we see that King Uzziah was taught by Zechariah to “fear God.” As a result of fearing God, he “sought guidance from the Lord.” Just imagine how our world would be if each Christ-follower consistently practiced a healthy fear of the Lord? Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Chronicles 26:1-5, with 5 as the focal verse: 5 Uzziah sought God during the days of Zechariah, who taught him to fear God. And as long as the king sought guidance from the Lord, God gave him success. WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE: How would consistently practicing a healthy fear of the Lord change you? Additional Resources and Scriptures: 10 Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment. (Proverbs 9:10) 26 Those who fear the Lord are secure; he will be a refuge for their children. 27 Fear of the Lord is a life-giving fountain; it offers escape from the snares of death. (Proverbs 14:26-27) 7 Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. (Proverbs 1:7) 8 No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8) 6 Unfailing love and faithfulness make atonement for sin. By fearing the Lord, people avoid evil. SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 343, “What Idols Do You Need to Completely Erase?” Kim discusses the dangers of partial obedience. King Uzziah, as well as a few of his ancestors, are described as doing what was pleasing in the Lord's sight, but they did not destroy the pagan shrines. First, this was in direct disobedience to God's instructions to the Israelites when they came into the promised land. Additionally, even if these were not places of temptation for these kings, they were places of temptation for others and needed to be completely eradicated. Now, how can this be applied to our lives today? Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 15:1-4, with 3-4 as the focal verse: 3 He did what was pleasing in the Lord's sight, just as his father, Amaziah, had done. 4 But he did not destroy the pagan shrines, and the people still offered sacrifices and burned incense there. WEEKLY ENGAGEMENT FEATURE: What places of idolatry do you need to destroy in your own life? Additional Resources and Scriptures: 2 “When you drive out the nations that live there, you must destroy all the places where they worship their gods—high on the mountains, up on the hills, and under every green tree. 3 Break down their altars and smash their sacred pillars. Burn their Asherah poles and cut down their carved idols. Completely erase the names of their gods! 4 “Do not worship the Lord your God in the way these pagan peoples worship their gods. 5 Rather, you must seek the Lord your God at the place of worship he himself will choose from among all the tribes—the place where his name will be honored. SHOW NOTES In Podcast Episode 342, “There Was No One to Save Them…But God,” Kim discusses the times in life where we believe there is no one to help us…no one on our side. Those are the times we need to be reminded that God is there for us even when no human being is. How many life moments have you had totally changed with the phrase, “but God”? Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 14:23-29, with 26-27 as the focal verse: 26 For the Lord saw the bitter suffering of everyone in Israel, and that there was no one in Israel, slave or free, to help them. 27 And because the Lord had not said he would blot out the name of Israel completely, he used Jeroboam II, the son of Jehoash, to save them.
