Meet Chani Lisbon; she started doing comedy about 10 years ago when a good friend suggested she take an improv class. Chani found the 6 week class to be intoxicating which then jump started her on this path of comedy. “It felt like magic!” To help her with her craft she has an “Action Partner” and they hold each other accountable and which promotes discipline in creating material for her comedy sets. Chani is also sober now for 14 years and is here to help anyone on their journey. As said so beautifully by Chani “When I make people laugh I feel better” and to remind others. ”We are in this together and you are not alone” This episode will surely put a smile on your face. Sharing our pain with others is the hardest thing to do but oftentimes the best thing for our growth and healing. And we may not realize it but sharing our painful experiences will help others learn to deal with their own struggles. That's exactly what happened when @chani_lisbon opened up and shared her most vulnerable side with the world on a post about her #alopecia . Someone sent it to me and I started connecting with her because it really hit home for me.
For years, comedian Chani Lisbon used alcohol as a coping mechanism to help her survive daily living not feeling good enough and ashamed, not even knowing that she was actually a survivor of trauma, until she finally discovered a new way to appreciate and enjoy life without having to turn to the bottle. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/neshamos-podcast/support
