A liquid-line restriction should cause high subcooling, right? Not always. In this short episode of the HVAC School podcast, we look at why normal subcooling does not rule out a restriction and why one familiar diagnostic pattern cannot tell the whole story.  Subcooling describes the refrigerant's temperature margin below saturation at a particular location. It does not directly measure how much refrigerant is stored in the condenser or prove that the metering device is receiving adequate liquid. A thermostatic expansion valve may compensate for a moderate restriction by opening farther, while a receiver can provide another place for liquid to collect. Incorrect charge, poor airflow, and other faults can also exist alongside a restriction. The practical lesson is to follow the liquid all the way to the metering device. Pressure losses through tubing, filter-driers, valves, and vertical rises can affect liquid delivery even when the reading at the outdoor unit looks normal. Temperature differences across a filter-drier can be useful clues, but a pressure drop may be difficult to detect with temperature clamps while the refrigerant remains subcooled liquid. The episode also discusses flash-gas clues, sight glasses, and the importance of inspecting the actual refrigerant path before settling on a diagnosis. The key takeaway is that normal subcooling at one measurement point does not clear the entire liquid line. Follow the refrigerant path and consider the equipment, valve response, receiver, and other operating evidence together. It carries out the necessary calculations. However, the answer it provides turns out to be inaccurate. Why?It's not because the model is inadequate. It's because it didn't know which definition of the term 'churn' the business had in mind, which table was out of date, or which join resulted in customers being counted twice. They talk about the context layer and the reasons why AI agents fail when it comes to enterprise data, even though the underlying models are continually getting better. Generally speaking, a score of 670 or higher is considered good, 740 and above is very good, and 800-plus is excellent.  So, if your score could use a little help, here are five practical ways to start moving it in the right direction.  Tip number one: Give your credit a breather. Every time you apply for new credit, a hard inquiry may appear on your report. One application won't do much damage, but several in a short period can. If you're not actively shopping for a loan, consider pressing pause on new credit applications.  Tip number two: Make every payment on time. This remains the single most important factor affecting most credit scores. If remembering due dates is a challenge, set up automatic payments or reminders. Even one missed payment can have a lasting impact.  Tip number three: Lower your credit utilization. In simple terms, that's how much of your available credit you're using. If your cards are close to their limits, try paying down balances. Many financial experts recommend keeping utilization below 30%, and even lower is better.  Tip number four: Build credit strategically. If you're new to credit or rebuilding after a setback, a secured credit card or credit-builder loan may help. These tools can demonstrate responsible borrowing habits and gradually strengthen your credit profile.  Tip number five: Think carefully before closing old accounts. It may seem like closing unused cards is always a good idea, but older accounts can help establish a longer credit history. If a card has no annual fee and isn't causing problems, keeping it open may actually benefit your score.  One more quick reminder: Regularly review your credit report for errors. Incorrect information happens more often than people realize, and identifying an issue early can save time and frustration. Google is adding travel functionality to AI Mode that can search for points-and-miles availability directly from participating airlines and hotel programs. Initial integrations include Alaska, Hawaiian, American, Choice, Hilton and Wyndham, with Flying Blue, Hyatt, LATAM and Lufthansa among those expected to follow. And the results can be fast—Richard gets award pricing back almost instantly during the show. But fast doesn't necessarily mean accurate. Ed puts the new functionality through a series of tests and finds incorrect Hilton award prices, missing hotels, problems with dates and days of the week, and incomplete results. Richard gets Google to find an Alaska Mileage Plan redemption on American—but only after specifically asking about it, and even then Google provides the wrong partner booking fee. They also conduct a live experiment looking for Marriott award availability during Atlanta Braves home games, with some interesting results. So, is Google AI ready to replace dedicated award-search tools? Not yet. But Ed and Richard agree that if Google can make the data more reliable, the ability to ask a broad question like "Show me every date in October when I can fly this route for 7,500 miles" could become extremely useful. Richard also breaks down Bilt's new partnership with Blacklane, which allows members to book the chauffeur service directly through Bilt and use Bilt Cash or points toward rides. A "heretical" alternative to dark matter is MOND (Modified Newtonian Dynamics), proposed by Mordehai Milgrom. Milgrom suggests that dark matter may not exist; instead, our current laws of gravity might be incorrect at galactic scales. MOND successfully explains galaxy rotation curves without requiring unseen matter, which remains a "worry" for traditional physicists. However, most cosmologists rely on gravitational lensing to map dark matter distribution. A key test is the Bullet Cluster, where two galaxy clusters are merging. Observations suggest mass is separated from visible gas, which initially seemed to refute MOND, though proponents still refine their theories. Future instruments, such as the Extremely Large Telescope in Chile, aim to provide the sensitivity needed to finally confirm the properties of dark matter or prove if modified gravity is the true answer.
