Children operated on when there was no need; industrial springs being used instead of approved medical devices; a doctor diverting children to his own private clinic leading to them facing dangerous treatment delays; and a poisonous work culture on the wards – these are some of the issues that have emerged in our children's hospitals. And that's before the not so little matter of the massive budgetary and time overruns that plague the unfinished national children's hospital. The body tasked with overseeing the healthcare of the nation's children is Children's Health Ireland. It was founded in 2019 and in just six years has faced a mounting number of controversies and scandals.Questions are now being asked about the ability of CHI to do its job.And that's a job that will get all the more complicated when the children's hospitals, each with their own culture and way of doing things, have to merge under one roof when the new hospital opens.CHI is funded by the HSE and answers to it, so what role does the State's healthcare body play in all this? And what is Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll McNeill going to do as CHI lurches from crisis to crisis?Irish Times health correspondent Shauna Bowers explains.Presented by Bernice Harrison. What happens after the moment you wish you could erase? This week, Sarah is joined by writer and publicist Alice Draper, founder of Hustling Writers and host of the podcast 'My Rejection Story'. Alice has built a powerful space where people share the “no's,” and today, she's helping us unpack how to face rejection without losing ourselves in it, which is often very easy to do, as it's the first thing we want to do as humans.Together, Sarah and Alice explore the complex terrain of rejection, embarrassment, and shame, plus they tackle how we can learn to navigate it without letting it define us. Additionally, they discuss the science behind why rejection can feel so brutal, including how our brains process it similarly to physical pain. From missed opportunities to public mistakes, this episode is a reminder that resilience is not about avoiding failure, but learning to keep showing up anyway. For anyone carrying the weight of a cringeworthy moment, this conversation offers both compassion and hope from a personal place!Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.com/This Changes Everything Voicemail: Send in your question by calling or texting ‪(313) 338-8828‬Receive 20% OFF any AquaTru purifier! How does astrology help us inhabit and experience our aliveness more deeply? How might embodiment practices help us awaken to our intuitive nature? In this enlightening conversation, astrologer Sabrina Monarch and I discussed the integration of astrological practice and embodiment work.On the surface, it's easy to misunderstand astrology as a strictly intellectual, imaginal, and abstract practice. This was certainly my perception at the start of my journey. Years into learning and practicing alongside Sabrina, I've found the opposite to be true.Earlier this year, I received a life-changing EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) session with Sabrina. I invited her to the podcast for a deeper dive into her profound experiences with EFT and how it has helped her reconnect with her emotional and artistic self. We delved into the nuances of aliveness, distinguishing it from mere regulation, and explore how astrology can be more than just a spiritual guide but a path to deeper embodiment. We also discussed the influence of Pluto on personal transformation, the challenges of managing primal energies like rage, and working with resistance and trauma as diviners. Connect with Sabrina:WebsiteMailing ListPodcast: The Magic of The SpheresYouTubeEvolutionary Astrology Intensive Book my new 1:1 offering, Creative Spirit Reading. Abby, Patrick, and Dan mark one hundred episodes of Ordinary Unhappiness! They start by looking back on the show's run so far, and what they've gotten from engaging with psychoanalysis as a living body of knowledge, as a corpus of classic texts, as a way of seeing the world, and more. They then turn to the episode's primary focus: a mailbag chock full of questions, fantasies, and desires from Ordinary Unhappiness listeners who have made the show possible. These include questions about therapeutic modalities fast and slow, the history of psychoanalytic theories about autism, the place of queerness in contemporary psychoanalysis, and more. But the three biggest topics Ordinary Unhappiness listeners want to learn more about are about drugs (especially psychedelics), the relationship between psychoanalysis and Marxism, and the work of Jacques Lacan. In classic Ordinary Unhappiness style, all this leads the hosts to recommend a ton of reading suggestions, admit to the things about which they do not know (but want to learn), and to promise a follow-up episode for Patreon supporters, where Abby, Patrick, and Dan will tackle those questions and topics that were a little too spicy – or let's say “overdetermined” – for a public episode. Enjoy – and thanks for listening! For the reading list, please visit our Patreon page. It's too long to include here!patreon.com/OrdinaryUnhappinessHave you noticed that Freud is back?
