"We all go through bad seasons". David starts his talk with these universal words. Whether we get what we want or lose what we thought we wanted, we can experience a sense of feeling delusional. I believe David does a great job addressing some of the moments where we have to reconcile the picture we had in our minds to what's actually happening in reality. I hope you are encouraged by this talk if you find yourself in a winter season. Check out the new website www.unbreakmyheartpodcast.com and fill out a listener survey. Colin Cowherd is a host on FS1. Fox Sports pays him millions of dollars a year and yet Cowherd continues to show everyone that he doesn't what the heck he's talking about. A few weeks ago he had Dwayne Haskins on a list of NFL QB's that will never win a Super Bowl. That is accurate, but we know someone who's deceased won't win a SB! Recently on his FS1 program Cowherd was talking about Seattle QB Geno Smith and said " I don't see Geno holding up the AFC Championship Trophy over a Mahomes or a Burrow." Maybe Cowherd knows something that nobody else does and that Smith will be traded soon to an AFC team soon! What a joke!!!!! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
The Twenty Minute VC: Venture Capital | Startup Funding | The Pitch
Jason Lemkin is the Founder @ SaaStr one of the best-performing early-stage venture funds focused on SaaS. In the past, Jason has led investments in Algolia, Pipedrive, Salesloft, TalkDesk, and RevenueCat to name a few. Prior to SaaStr, Jason was an entrepreneur, selling EchoSign to Adobe for $100M where it is now a $250M ARR product. Rick Zullo is the Co-Founder and General Partner at Equal Ventures. Prior to co-founding Equal Ventures, Rick was an investor at Lightbank, Prior to Lightbank, Rick worked with investment firms Foundation Capital, Bowery Capital, and Lightview Capital. In Today's Episode We Discuss: 1. Why Venture Capital Needs It's Jerry Maguire Moment: Why does Rick believe that VC needs it's "Jerry Maguire" moment? What needs to change? What needs to stay the same? Why does Jason believe we will see even more mega funds in 2024 and 2025? 2. Unicorns are So 2019: Why does Jason believe that "unicorn investing is mostly dead for bigger funds and none of them are looking for a $1BN outcome anymore?" Why does Rick believe that multi-stage fund investing at seed simply does not make sense? What does Rick believe many founders need to know when they take multi-stage money at seed? Of the over 1,000 unicorns created over the last few years, how many of them do Rick and Jason feel are actually unicorns today? 3. Efficiency and Growth: We Need it All: Why does Jason believe, as a founder you should be embarrassed if you ever had a RIF (reduction in force)? Last year many founders got a pass on growth as they were more efficient. Is that pass over? Do they need to get back to growth? What is the single biggest reason that companies do not scale from seed to Series A? What happens to the many companies with years of runway but no product-market-fit? Are we entering a new age of efficient company building or will we go back to high burn environments and excessive spending? 4. Entering the World of LPs: If Jason and Rick were to advise LPs today on how much to discount the value of their venture books, what advice would they give? How have markups completely corrupted the venture ecosystem? How does LPs being incentivized by paper-marks make the industry even more screwed? What are the single biggest misalignments between GP and LP?

On Saturday night 49ers QB Trey Lance looked pretty good, at least in my eyes. He was 12-18 for 173 yards with one TD and one Interception. He led the 49ers from behind to win the game. On Saturday's ESPN's Sportscenter that night anchor Zubin Mehenti said "Boy, Trey Lance just had another dismal outing. 49ers win late. Lance, the numbers were good, performance, not so much, according to those who watch every game." In a word to describe ESPN, embarrassing! Learn more about your ad choices. As parents, we all want the best for our young athletes, especially when they're going through tough times. But what should you do if your child resists the help and guidance we offer? In this episode, Coach Rebecca addresses this common concern and provides valuable insights for parents seeking ways to understand and support their athletes effectively. During their pre-teen and teenage years, it's entirely normal for children to seek some distance from their parents. This developmental phase is marked by their quest for independence and the shaping of their identities. It's essential to recognize that their resistance might have a biological basis as their brains undergo significant changes during this period. In some cases, kids may not even realize they need help. We need to allow them space to recognize when they can improve and understand when to ask for help. Instead of arguing with them when they insist everything's fine, try to agree with them while gently encouraging deeper reflection on their situation. Give them the freedom to figure things out and learn from their experiences. “Effort pointed in the wrong direction will actually decrease confidence.” -Rebecca Smith Embarrassment can also be a reason why young athletes avoid seeking help. They might fear standing out or being seen as different from their peers, especially if they require additional training or support. As parents, it's essential to create an environment where they feel safe to open up and share their challenges without judgment. The key lies in building a strong and trusting relationship with your child based on hope and trust. Coach Rebecca emphasizes the importance of teaching parents how to foster hope and trust with their kids. By creating a safe space where young athletes feel understood, supported, and free to share their experiences, parents can lay the foundation for open communication and the willingness to seek help when needed. “When you stop trying to solve the problem and instead start to build the relationship, that readiness for change is going to move and the hope they have in themselves is going to increase.” -Rebecca Smith Join Coach Rebecca in this episode as she shares essential strategies for building a supportive and trusting relationship with your athlete, empowering them to embrace growth and seek help when facing challenges. Remember, creating a nurturing and understanding environment can be the catalyst for your child's continued growth and success in their sports journey. Hey friends!Back this week with something that has been top of mind for me on my journey of looking to always improve and live a life I am proud of.The thing I've been thinking about is why do we do things we don't want to do or don't do the things we do want to do and how do we reverse that? What I've found most helpful for myself when it comes to making the right decisions is to focus on the end result and not how I feel in the moment.Often times we don't do things we should bc we don't "feel like it" in the moment so we let that feeling dictate our decisions. If we are able to think through the end result of that task or activity, and really feel how it will feel when we accomplish that thing, it's much easier to then let your decisions be driven by the end result that you want. That same thing works for not doing things you don't want to do.When you are temped to do something you know you shouldn't do, think through how you will feel when you do that. Will it bring you shame? Guilt? Embarrassment? Anger? If you don't want to experience those feelings, let those end results drive your decision making process. If we only focus on how we feel in the moment we will make short term decisions that we will later regret. If we are able to focus on the end result and make decisions according to that we will achieve more of what we want and live a life that we can be proud of..Hope something here was helpful, please share it with someone you think could benefit from hearing this. Thanks so much for listening!
