Breaking The Chains of a 15-Year Addiction with Ali Zansberg | The Hopeaholics PodcastIn this powerful and emotional episode of The Hopeaholics Podcast, Ali Zansberg opens up about her extraordinary journey through unimaginable pain, addiction, and transformation. From surviving childhood molestation and undergoing heart surgery at just thirteen to enduring years of misdiagnosis, psychiatric medications, and even electroconvulsive therapy, Ali's early life was marked by confusion and survival. Her struggles spiraled into addiction after a near-fatal bout with liver failure introduced her to opiates, setting off a decade-long battle with substance abuse, arrests, overdoses, and heartbreak. She speaks candidly about the darkness of meth psychosis, the devastating loss of her unborn child during withdrawal, and the torment of suicidal thoughts that followed. Despite it all, Ali's story takes a turn toward light—through sheer surrender, she finds recovery, purpose, and faith. Now living sober and helping others through her involvement in recovery communities, Ali's story is a raw and redemptive testament to resilience, hope, and the power of second chances.#thehopeaholics #redemption #recovery #AlcoholAddiction #AddictionRecovery #wedorecover #SobrietyJourney #MyStory #Hope #wedorecover #treatmentcenter #natalieevamarieJoin our patreon to get access to an EXTRA EPISODE every week of ‘Off the Record', exclusive content, a thriving recovery community, and opportunities to be featured on the podcast. https://patreon.com/TheHopeaholics Go to www.Wolfpak.com today and support our sponsors. On this November 6th episode, join Hunter, your Bible reading coach and host, as we journey through day 311 in our year-long walk through the Scriptures. Today, we dive into the raw honesty of Job, seek comfort in Psalm 120, and explore the liberating message of Paul in Galatians chapters 3 and 4. Together, we reflect on the transformation offered by God's love, the promise of freedom through faith in Christ, and Paul's passionate plea to the Galatians not to trade their spiritual freedom for old chains. You'll hear heartfelt prayers, inspiring challenges to fix your eyes on Christ, and a reminder of your true identity as a beloved heir of God. So grab your Bible and your coffee—or just tune in—as Hunter guides us through Scripture, prayer, and encouragement for your soul. Certainly! Here is the transcription of the devotional given after the Scripture readings and before the prayer, matched in tone, style, and format to your example: TODAY'S DEVOTION: This journey into God that provided you with forgiveness of sins, that gave you a joyful and grateful spirit, that made you a caring and generous person, that journey began by faith. When you woke up to the gift that God had given you in Christ and the truth of who you have now become in Christ, none of that happened by trying to become a good law keeper. These dear people in Galatia are being told that they must become circumcised. They must become Jewish converts. They're being instructed to follow the laws of Moses—the dietary laws, the dates, the deeds—all of it, because all of it would be necessary if they wanted to be counted among God's people. They're being told that Jesus was, in effect, a kind of first step to this new life and community. As Jewish converts, they would have to take the next step, and that meant circumcision. It's out of these pressures that Paul is urging them not to trade their freedom for chains, and the blessing of life for what he calls the curse of the law. Paul is saying that Jesus is the first and only step. The law was never meant to make us right with God. The law was given to come alongside us and convince our hearts of our need for a Redeemer and a Savior. It's there to point us to the cross—to God's self-giving, radically forgiving, co-suffering love. It's faith in what he has done, and what we have now become. That's where the joy is. And that's where Paul wants this church—and you and I—to live from. That's Paul's plea, not only to the Galatians, but to you and to me. What God has done for you in Christ is all that need be done. Paul wants us to keep our eyes fixed on him—not on ourselves—looking outward and upward and being changed and transformed as we look to him. So let's fix our eyes on Christ our Savior, on his beautiful life, continuing to look to him in faith, growing in Christ until He is fully formed in us. That's a prayer that I have for my own soul. That's the prayer that I have for my family, for my wife and my daughters and my son. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. This week, Florence is joined by the ultimate love duo — Asa and David, relationship coaches, partners, and parents, who are keeping it raw, real, and ultra practical when it comes to long-term love. From mismatched libidos to conflict spirals, morning routines to raising a baby, they're spilling the kind of advice that makes you go, “Oof… why didn't anyone tell me this sooner?” We dive into how to fight fair (without the silent treatment or full-blown meltdowns), why honesty only works if you can handle hearing the uncomfortable stuff, and how to bring back intimacy when Netflix and exhaustion have taken over your evenings. Asa and David share their own story too — from a suitcase that turned into six months of living together, to a move abroad, to parenthood — and how they built a foundation that can hold both deep healing and wild love. Expect laughter, vulnerability, and so many “aha” moments as we ask: what does it really take to keep desire, connection, and teamwork alive once the honeymoon fades? I'm going to tell you, based on the story that Jesus tells, that those who've received grace give grace. I'm going to tell you that people who are graceless look like people who've never actually experienced or received grace. Because the litmus test for the reality of the grace that you've received from God is the extent to which you give grace and offer forgiveness. I know it's hard — that last part, I know it's hard — that you would do that to the person who's hurt you the most. I know that's hard, but your willingness to try to give grace to the darkest spots of your life, the ones who've hurt you the most, will reveal how clearly you understand the grace you've receive from your God. I know that it's not fair to be expected to forgive. It's not fair to let it go … but thank God grace isn't fair. We give grace not because we owe a debt, but because graced people give grace. Jesus gives grace, so Jesus' followers give grace.

Resources & Mentions: Nonprofit Organization: Faced with Grace – Empowering women to rise above workplace toxicity through mentorship, education, and community. Leadership Framework: PEARL Leadership – Kaitlyn's model for healthy, sustainable leadership: Presence, Empathy, Accountability, Resilience, Legacy Professional Titles: Doctor of Physical Therapy | Board-Certified Wound Specialist | VP of Clinical Business Development Actionable Steps for Listeners: 1. Identify the Source of Toxicity Take a moment to reflect on your current work environment. Ask yourself: “Is the stress I'm feeling caused by a person, a team, or the overall culture?” Write down 2-3 recurring behaviors or patterns that negatively impact your well-being. 2. Speak Up or Step Away If you feel safe, report the issue to HR or a trusted leader. If not, start planning an exit strategy that protects your peace and future growth. Remember: leaving a toxic environment is an act of strength, not failure. 3. Model Healthy Leadership (Even Without a Title) Lead by example. Practice Kaitlyn's PEARL values: Presence, Empathy, Accountability, Resilience, and Legacy. Start by choosing one to focus on in your interactions this week. 4. Create a “Pause Plan” to Avoid Burnout Schedule time daily or weekly to step back and reflect. Ask: “What drains me? What energizes me?” Use these insights to adjust your workload, set boundaries, or seek support. 5. Join a Support Network or Mentorship Program Seek out or create a safe space (like a women's leadership group or peer support circle). Consider getting involved with organizations like Faced with Grace to connect with others navigating similar challenges. 6. Rewrite Your Workplace Story Visualize a healthier, purpose-driven work life. Write down: “I'm so grateful I now work in a place where I feel respected, supported, and valued.” Act in alignment with that version of your future self, whether it's through learning, networking, or setting new boundaries. Final Thought: You deserve a workplace that uplifts you, not drains you. Healing begins the moment you name what's hurting and take steps to protect your peace. Leadership isn't just about changing others, it starts with choosing yourself. Whether you stay, speak up, or walk away, your courage creates space for transformation. The time to reclaim your voice is now. What listeners have to say: Kaitlyn Rios' episode has been a wake-up call for professionals across industries, employees, leaders, and change-makers alike. Monica D., a healthcare administrator, shared how naming the toxic behaviors on her team gave her the clarity to start difficult (but necessary) conversations with leadership. Andre M., a tech team lead, said Kaitlyn's PEARL framework helped him shift his leadership style from reactive to resilient, improving both morale and performance on his team. Lisa K., a burned-out marketing executive, finally gave herself permission to leave a toxic role after hearing Kaitlyn's reminder: “Your peace is worth more than any paycheck.” These breakthroughs remind us that healing, growth, and positive change are possible, especially when courage meets clarity. Now it's your turn: What moment, quote, or takeaway from Kaitlyn's story is helping you lead or live differently?
