The RNIB Tech for Life Fair took place on Wednesday, 26th February 2025, and our Tech Talk host, Hywel Davies, attended. Allan Russell interviewed Hywel live on the Daily Connect to find out more.
The Braille 200 Library Tour continues and today it arrived at Clitheroe Library. The event, organised by RNIB, was a celebration of the 200th anniversary of the revolutionary system of tactile dots. Dave Williams was there and spoke with Allan Russell during Thursday's Daily Connect show. As we celebrate 200 years since the invention of the tactile reading and writing system braille, RNIB's Braille and Beyond Tour is continuing to make its way across the UK. In November the tour arrived at The Hive in Worcester. Barry Snell spoke with Dave Williams ahead of the event starting. Tenby Museum and Art Gallery are opening up their collection to blind and partially sighted people through a series of audio described podcasts which will also be aired on RNIB Connect Radio during the Daily Connect show on Wednesdays for the next few weeks.The audio described podcasts have been written presented and produced by Mark Lewis the curator of Tenby Museum and Art Gallery. Recent statistics from the RNIB have shown that 64% of visually impaired people would like to be more physically active, but 57% felt that their sight loss was a barrier to being physically active. On today's Daily Connect, we chat to Martin Symcox from London-based charity Metro Blind Sport, about trying new sports if you are blind or partially sighted, and overcoming the barriers that come with it.
