Peacekeeping in Ukraine will be an extensive operation, according to one expert. UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has rallied together leaders from Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand for a virtual meeting that he's dubbed the 'coalition of the willing'. Discussions focused on supporting Ukraine to achieve lasting peace. Kiwi K.A.R.E founder Tenby Powell says a peacekeeping force will need to cover a large frontline. "The question that I would ask the Minister of Defence is - do we have the numbers to be able to make a sustained effort. So we're making an impactful and meaningful contribution." There's concerns the US and Russia are having peace talks without involving anyone else - including Ukraine. Ukraine's European allies are set to gather in Paris for an emergency summit on the war tomorrow. It comes as a US envoy is expected to meet Russian officials for the first time in Saudi Arabia later this month. Kiwi K.A.R.E founder Tenby Powell says this is a stark example of geopolitical injustice. "One would hope the Saudis, who are hosting this meeting, would have the presence of mind to invite Zelenskyy a some stage - but I think it's important to understand that this war hasn't just happened since February 2022." If you're not familiar with Long Course Weekend (LCW), it's a unique take on a full-distance triathlon—spread over 2.5 days. The concept is simple: •Swim 3.8K on Friday night •Ride 180K on Saturday •Finish with a full marathon on Sunday The original event took place in Tenby, Wales, following a course similar to the Ironman—though, fun fact, LCW actually came first! Since then, it has expanded to Belgium, Holland, Mallorca, and, most recently, Yorkshire. There's now a range of distances available, so if the full distance feels daunting, there's likely an option to suit you. As Matt explains in our chat, LCW isn't just about elite athletes (though plenty do show up to race). Instead, it's designed for people who are fit, fat, and fun—his words! So, if that sounds like you, LCW could be your next big challenge. In this episode, we discuss: ✅ How the LCW concept was born ✅ Creating an inclusive, festival-style event ✅ Building community support and engagement ✅ Why LCW has a Festival of Champions—not a world championship   To keep up to date with Long Course Weekend events use the following links Activity Wales Website -  Activity Wales Facebook -  activitywalesevents Instagram - activitywalesevents Long Course Weekend Website - LongCourse Weekend  Facebook - LongCourseWeekend  Instagram - LongCourseWeekend     YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/@longcourseweekendglobal Cool Videos Watch highlights of: 2024 Long Course Weekend Wales 2024 Long Course Weekend Belgium   Join our SWAT/High Performance Human tribe using this link, with a happiness guarantee! Tell us what you think of this episodeThe collected group of ex-players and committee post holders started by telling us who they are and what they were like as cricketers. We get a picture of the way into cricket which was different for different players, some moving from juniors into seniors and others coming onto the scene as a senior.  There were four senior sides in the past and some present played for all four sides. We talk about a little bit of the older history of the club with contributions from Stuart who outlined the contested question of exactly when the cricket club was formed.  Cricket was brought to the area by English gentlemen who played mainly ‘away' fixtures from 1824 but finally came to the Racecourse Ground in 1839.Stuart tells the story of why the ground is called ‘The Racecourse' and also outlines the history of the building of the current Pavillion.  Like in other areas of Wales, english educated gentlemen first brought the game of cricket to the town when returning to their homes. The first reported game involving members of the Haverfordwest Club took place on 12th August 1835 when a combined Haverfordwest and Pembroke team played members of the Tenby club. The club is reputed to be the oldest in Wales.  A quote from 1839 noted, ‘It is ordered that John Higgon Esquire, and other gentlemen of the cricket club, be allowed to level a spot of ground within the ring of the Racecourse for the purpose of forming a Cricket Ground.'  English educated gentlemen first brought the game of cricket to this part of WalesOne character from the early years of the club was John Henry Philipss.  You can read about him here:https://www.cricketmuseum.wales/the-pembrokeshire-cricketer-who-became-president-of-the-mcc/ In the late 1960s and early 70s discussions got under way regarding the building of a clubhouse.  In 1977 the new clubhouse was opened by Wilfred Wooller of Glamorgan CCC and in 1982 the extension was officially opened by Alan Jones esq, Wales pre-eminent first class cricketer and Glamorgan opening bat for many years. For more detail on the history of the club you can approach them for a copy of the 200th Anniversary Handbook which also contains some great articles on the modern day achievements of the club as well as pieces on its Ladies and Junior Sections.Simon and Chris outline their favourite performances for Haverfordwest and then the ex-players share their memories of playing for the club.

In Leaders Getting Coffee episode 14, our guest is Tenby Powell, who founded Kiwi K.A.R.E. (Kiwi Aid & Refugee Evacuation) which was established in response to the humanitarian and medical crisis unfolding in war-torn Ukraine. A Retired Colonel in the NZ Army, he's also a former CEO and investor who, dissatisfied with the lack of progress in his hometown of Tauranga, successfully ran for the Mayoralty in 2019. Tenby talks with passion about the role of the military in our lives, how the army can help youth offenders programmes, and the need to provide for those young people once such programmes are completed. The discussion covers the transitions from military man to corporate leader and the process that saw entrenched positions in Tauranga resolved within a few short months of his appointment as Mayor. Finally, we learn about what is going on, on the ground in Ukraine, and how Kiwis are making a big difference to the people they touch. And as always, we wrap up the podcast by asking Tenby what he would do if he was Prime Minister for a day? His answer sounds like a lot of fun. Tenby Powell is another impressive leader with a fascinating leadership story. We're taking an intermission during August. Rather than disappearing, we're made you a montage of sound-feels selected from previous episodes. This week's theme is coastal. Listen to four lovely clips of coastal scapes we've captured. Take a tour from Tenby in South Wales, Coldingham Sands in South East Scotland, and Nothe Fort on the Jurassic coast of England. Here are the descriptions and full episode links  so you can enjoy them in full. 174 Where cool woodland meets the summer sea  At the far end of the long sandy beach at Tenby there's an area of cool, shady woodland. From the distance and under hot summer sunshine, it looks idyllic. Inviting. Under the trees the hot sunshine air is cooler. Laden with sweet musty smells and sappy perfumes. The birds are singing. Their sound reflecting between the trees. Melding with the washing waves.  This place is like a temperate greenhouse. A naturally reverberant space. Perfect, to set down, forget about doing anything, and just listen for a while.  178 Waves of the intertidal zone  It's late and you're out. in solitude, For an evening walk, on a wide open beach. Tenby beach in South Wales. Here, is white noise solitude. You scrunch over flat corrugated sand towards the shallowing waves. Then wade in. Immersed. Ankle deep and paddling. White noise is everywhere. Waves, are everywhere. Racing. Washing over each other. Left to right. Right to left. Face on. And under. Rushing away, behind you. Tiny bubbles. Sparkling. Shallowing. And dissolving, into fizz.  150 Looking down on Coldingham Sands  A bench. Perfectly perched, by the sandy steps that lead steeply down onto Coldingham Sands. Perfectly perched with a sound-view so wide, and angle just right, to hear the incoming waves as they break over outcrops of craggy, elephant-sized rocks. It's a bright August day, and the sun is mistily lighting up the sea, the rocky cliffs, and the plunging, richly vegetated slopes. This place, on the East Coast of Scotland, is special. It's a landscape under a genuinely quiet sky. A sky free of human-made noise, where the detail and quality of natural sound can reach the ear drums intact.  176 Early morning below Nothe Fort A smooth, sunrise sea, heard from a tree, growing up out of a bundle of boulders close to the water's edge. It's early April, and just after daybreak. The Lento kit is in the tree, capturing the wide spatial quiet of this place with nobody about, right beside Nothe Fort in Weymouth on the south coast of England. Ahead, looking south, the sea. West is Portland. East is Weymouth, then Durdle Door, near to Lulworth Cove. In this little settled spot, and from far left of scene, the sea seems to be breathing, softly, as it sweeps the shingle at the foot of the fort's huge parapet wall. Perhaps it's still asleep. Has it not heard the blackbird? Has it not heard the wren? Or the garden warbler? Maybe it does, in a dream.

A shadow grey rock, the size of a stranded ship. Radiating heat, remembered from the midday sun. Around it, rock pools, and smooth curving shapes. Like sleeping seals. You're out. Alone. For a late evening walk. Overhead, and behind, the sky is a deep, deepening blue. An end-of-day blue. But to your right, on the low west horizon, it's still blazing bright.  This place, this wide open beach, is white noise solitude. All around, empty space. Empty space and sea air breezes. Sea air breezes, and some people. Happy cries, and beach ball thumps.  You walk. Scrunch sand between your toes. You swing your legs towards the sea. Head towards the intertidal zone. Stepping on hard ruttled sand. Over furrows of stranded water. For as far as the eye can see. Corrugated land. Low tide land. Shaped into longitudinal lines by the withdrawing waves.  Right ahead, bright white noise. And gulls. Just landed on the wetted sand. Rapidly stamping their little webbed feet, to bring up the morsels. A rush. Of cold fizzing sparkling rippling water. Breaks suddenly over your feet. Breaks, and splashes up your ankles. Stops you in your tracks. Swirls and foams and flattens and shallows, all around you. Fills the air with watery sound. Like shimmering blue, shoreline silk.  Now you're in, and immersed. Ankle deep and paddling. White noise is everywhere. Waves, are everywhere. Racing. Washing over each other. Left to right. Right to left. Face on. And under. Rushing away, behind you. Tiny bubbles. Sparkling. Shallowing. And dissolving, into fizz. Each one, each wave, adding one more corrugation, on the wide intertidal sand.  * This sound photograph of Tenby beach is first try of something new for Lento. We recorded it dynamically, as we walked, in one unbroken 30 minute take. Angling and panning the Lento kit, holding still on wide panoramic views, then panning down almost to touch the water for close-up views of the sparkling bubbles, then gently sliding sideways to chase waves as they race to the shore, as with a film camera. We wanted it to be a kind of sound film. If you can't make it to the beach this month we hope you can enjoy this intertidal sound walk, until you can.

At the far end of the long sandy beach at Tenby there's an area of cool, shady woodland. From the distance and under hot summer sunshine, it looks idyllic. Inviting. A shady promontory on the horizon that curves and blurs down into the sea.  The best way to get there we think, is by shanks pony. Walk, as slow as you like. Go the full length of the beach. Pass the kids playing and the running dogs who couldn't be happier. The picnicing families, and the lone beach ball, waiting patiently to be collected.  Steer yourself between the scattered seaweeds of the strandline, and the breaking waves of the shore. Just keep going, but don't forget to stop too. There'll be plenty of bits of flotsam and jetsam that need to be checked along the way. And the odd motorboat, to watch, far out on the water, steadily bouncing over the swell.  As you approach the headland, the trees loom. They are towering things. High, with broad boughs that stretch like green sails overhead. Some will be swaying in the onshore breeze. The beach ends here, so step off the soft sand and up and over the ridge of craggy rocks, to the wooden steps leading to the woodland path. A sandy adventure, that leads steep up, under the trees. Climb. Feel how the air cools. Becomes laden with sweet musty smells and sappy perfumes. Hear how the sound changes. How the birds are singing. How their sound reflects between the trees, and combines with the washing waves. The sea enters the lowest footings of the forest along natural inlets that are lined with gnarled and exposed roots.  This place is like a temperate greenhouse. A naturally reverberant space, shaped, regulated, and defined, by the sea and the trees. Such a perfect place, to set down, forget about doing anything, and just listen for a while.  * Tree canopies can divert over 60% of the sun's heat and so make you cool through a process called evapotranspiration. It doesn't matter how old your children get, whenever they go on a trip you're always dreading that phone call…The one that often comes in the early hours of the morning…The one with the solemn voice at the end of the line.  The Nutley family of the Welsh village of Caerwent, received one such call in October 2004. James, who at 25 was the eldest son, had failed to return to his hotel after the first night of a golfing trip. His mother Catherine, wasting no time, immediately drove the hundred odd miles to the seaside town of Tenby, where the tournament was taking place. It's a drive she and her husband Jeff make twice a year to this day, a pilgrimage they have no intention of stopping, until they find out the truth about what happened to James that night…  For more information on every episode from all five series visit https://themissingpodcast.org New episodes every Monday. Sunrise over Tenby. Blue sky. Scudding clouds. 5am, and nobody about, except for the birds in the murmuring air of a seaside town. This sound photograph, captured from behind the descending houses on St Johns Hill in Tenby, is spatial, and composed by chance with balanced foreground and background layers. A blackbird right of centre. Another blackbird, mid-distance and left of centre. Far distance, ranging 90 degree left to 90 degree right, wrens and other birds. The white noise of the beach can be heard reflecting slightly to right of centre, off the high wall of a large sided building beyond. Circling seagulls often pass over too, and light up through sound the empty airspace above.  This episode follows on from last week's 'Night murmuring in Tenby'. The daylight has come, but still rocking slightly in the breeze, is next door's rusted garden gate.  * Tenby is another location we've found that has quiet horizons. There was almost no aircraft noise in the four days we spent there. Quiet horizons we think promote a deeper sense of wellbeing and allow the natural world to be perceived properly. There is some wind noise in this episode due to coastal conditions, but because of the minimal human-made noise, the murmuration of the sea reflected off the nearby buildings is clearly audible even though it is on the other side of the hill.

Tenby. A seaside town on the South coast of Wales. End of May into early June. Late sunsets, followed by warm, springtime nights. It's 1am and the mics are recording alone. Capturing the atmosphere of Tenby, in the dead of night.    Behind where we're staying are dim shapes of buildings. A tall tree with whisping leaves. Empty sun loungers and nextdoor's gate, loosely fastened, being moved atmospherically by the gusts. Echoes of distant windchimes. And there above, the deep, dark, quiet sky. And all around, the breezes. How this place sounds. How it rests, in this smallest hour. And murmurates, under its so peaceful sky.  So much silky air blowing in from the Atlantic that it's barely any effort to breathe. Soft flowing currents, that billow, cuff, and clean. Listen. Listen. To the trees. Can you hear them? They're breathing for you.

Shane Williams is a household name in sport worldwide, the former Welsh International rugby player is regarded as one of the greatest wingers and players of all time. With 87 caps for his country and multiple British and Irish Lions tour appearances, it is no wonder he is a World Rugby Hall of Fame Inductee and a winner of the World Rugby Player of the Year award. Embedded in sport for most of his life, when he retired from professional rugby in 2015 his love and passion for sport continued but took him in a very different direction. Taking part in his first marathon in 2015, it wasn't long before the Welshman became captivated with endurance sport, in particular, triathlon and more specifically with IRONMAN. Somewhat cajoled into taking on his first ever IRONMAN, he didn't have far to travel to take on his first full-distance race at IRONMAN Wales in Tenby, which he has gone on to complete five times, first hearing the words Shane Williams You are an IRONMAN, in 2015. It may come as a surprise to hear that on an IRONMAN Wales race morning, he is more nervous than lining up to play for Wales in the Principality Stadium. But, the goosebumps and passion he feels as he hears the Welsh National Anthem resound on North Beach in Tenby is one that fills him full of the same pride, excitement, and emotion he had as a professional rugby player and, when the gun goes he is more than ready, willing and able to race. A high achiever in sport and competitive by nature, he is as passionate today about triathlon as he was for rugby during his playing days.  Always looking to get the best out of himself and his performance in sport, life, and in business, triathlon has opened up a whole new world for Shane Williams, and in his own words says 'I'm hooked, it makes me feel so good'.

Thirty-year-old Corporal Abelen was on leave without pay from the Defence Force when he was killed in eastern Ukraine this week. Multiple sources have told RNZ they believe his body is in Russian hands. Government ministers declined to be interviewed on what will be done to retrieve the solder and can't say whether or not the body is now in Russian hands. However, Powell, who's in Ukraine providing humanitarian aid and helping with the evacuation of civilians, spoke to Morning Report producer Karen Brown.

Every individual has gifts and talents that can make a lasting impact. However, only a minority of people utilise those gifts and talents to live up to their full potential. Tying your gifts and talents with your personal purpose not only leads to a more successful career, but a significant one. Neil "Yoda" Hill is a bodybuilding legend in the United Kingdom and the founder of Y3T, his signature training method, as well as a coach to some of the world's most elite and successful athletes. He has spent 33 years in the bodybuilding and fitness industry, and has more than 30 years of experience coaching athletes and clients from around the world. Neil was born and raised in Tenby, Pembrokeshire in the UK. Having grown up in Wales and coming from a low-income household, he saw his opportunities as limited. When he was younger, he struggled with dyslexia, which caused him a great deal of frustration and insecurity. He had the impression that he was different. As much as he liked certain elements of school, he couldn't stand the fact that he couldn't progress due to his disability. So he threw himself into the things that he couldn't accomplish academically. For him, he has to be good at something to feel better. He began working as a paper round at the age of nine and spent 16 years as a technician in the motor industry before settling into kitchen and bathroom design, which he fell in love with because it allowed him to be more creative. This made him feel wonderful and fulfilled his life's purpose. That kept him motivated while he was succeeding in sports, as a professional bodybuilder, and other things he excelled at. Neil is now based in Las Vegas, Nevada, and has achieved international renown as an instructor. He was also a very successful and competitive IFBB amateur and Pro Bodybuilder. He began to apply his knowledge and experience as a full time professional coach to help other aspiring athletes and fitness enthusiasts. With hard work, passion, time and a solid track record, Neil quickly amassed a reputation for getting results. This blend of experience, knowledge, and an innate ability to motivate people has made Neil a much sought-after coach. Over the years, Neil has climbed the ranks of the coaching world to become one of the world's most recognised names, and as a result, has won multiple personal global awards and athlete tiles. What do you do when your international rugby career ends? Try an Ironman triathlon, obviously! At least that's the path that today's guest took. For 13 years (2000-2013) Shane Williams scorched the earth playing on the wing for Wales and the British and Irish Lions. In 2008 he was IRB World Rugby Player of the year and retired with 91 international caps and 60 tries, ranking him 4th in the all-time list of international try-scorers.  Retirement leaves a big hole in the lives of professional sportsmen and women so looking for a challenge, he accepted a friend's invitation to take part in the 2015 Ironman Wales in Tenby. To say he was bitten by the bug is an understatement as you'll hear in the conversation. Shane's enthusiasm for triathlon matches the joy he still has for rugby union and this really comes across. From the early 19th century, Tenby became a fashionable holiday destination for both the Welsh and the English, and its attractions to the holidaymaker are just as obvious today, with the fantastic beaches stretching to the north, the west, and the south of the town. so thats enough of me lets meet 3 of my fellow tuktukchauffeurs vaughn jones, lucy paice but first justin williams a retired policeman with 30 years service . its perpared him well shall we say finally we meet pow and josie they said in the glamping pod for a couple ,of nights at buttles . we ferred them around a little by tuk tuk of caurse between drinking dens and beautiful beachews and they spoke to me just before they left thankyou to everyone iv met so far its been agreat first month and the second show to isnt far away . thankyou to lorraine and tony who own and run tuktuktime . i and the rest of the team really believe inyou both and this summer will be a fantastic sucess

Episode 18 an inspiring story of a frontline NHS physiotherapist, Agegrouper, who has the passion for sustainability.A self proclaimed  podgy kid, Craig  played mainly football (in goal), dabbled a little swimming getting ducks and frosty awards, but failed his cycling proficiency. It was secondary school that opened doors to multiple other sports- Rugby (played prop), Basketball, squash, cross country, hockey- turned out had an affinity with hard graft of running Craig enjoyed the cooper runs around the astro pitch! Craig progressed and did his football refereeing and coaching qualifications. Whilst continuing the cross country. He managed to represent at national school for South west- very. He had a great teacher who also had raced for GB tri and Duathlon in the early days (Mr Ian Smith- Biology Teacher), he talked about being in Australia and all over and doing IM'sCraig attended the same school as Vicky Holland- Newent Community school)The school had a little triathlon in the community, in 2010 couple of school friends all bet one another to complete and race it. He finished 40th, and was asked to join a local tri team- but declined. Triathlon and multi sport didn't really kick off for Craig  until he went to University in Huddersfield. Here he quickly immersed himself in local community sport joining Holmfirth Athletics club (Mark Buckingham, Richard Anderson, Jonny McLean, Byram family, Rachel Mellor, Steve Rimmer, John Levick and Andrew Kerry) to name a few inspiring multisport figures! 2012 apart from being a Games maker at the Olympics and para-Olympics he took part in an ultra marathon (Round Rotherham 50mi) lots of cross country and tri's qualified for 2013 duathlon champs Ottawa (This had it's challenges, 1 mechanical and a accident, 2x attempts to qualify) and 2013 tri champs london! - but buggered that up 10 days before due to fly to Canada he fell off his bike and fractured his scapula. So he was out for August and Septembers champs. 2013 unlucky year!Craig managed to requalify for 2014 world champs (Pontevedra) but a little too much running over the winter led to bad bilaterally ITB issues! So painful he couldn't run he turned up for the atmosphere and cycle around to support! Main goal was first IM (Wales, Tenby, 12:04) Finished Uni and qualified again for Adelaide so decided to go travelling with that. Not the best shape and somehow made it back as first Brit home in that wave 20-25He then Qualified for Kalkar and Alvieles - had a proper coach by Arron Harris- felt amazing but felt under performed! With these 3 events kind of fell out of love with the travels and stress concentrate on local events and getting settled with partner, Moved up to Newcastle upon Tyne for work. Craig won the senior NE Multi sport series in 2018  From moving up to Newcastle they took on an allotment, to be more self sufficient and started looking at the impact sport and particularly triathlon has on the environment. Craig would like to start getting all of the brilliant heads together to see what they can do to help the planet (Note 220 Triathlon mag). 2020 was supposed to be the challenge to that. Now seeing it as a way to get a fresh start and how we as multi sport athletes can help that... Please enjoy and be educated on sustainability as I was.You can follow Craig on Instagram @The_Sustainable_TraiathleteYou can listen to this AMP episode and all the others on most podcast platforms and now we a have our own YouTube channel : AMP GBFind us Instagram amp_1967Twitter  agegroupmultisportpodcastFacebook AMPGBYouTube GBWebsite is : agegroupmultisportpodcast.buzzsprout.comemail: agegroupmultisportpodcast@gmail.com

Hello :) This episode is all about British Seaside Resorts - the many villages and towns that line the coast of the United Kingdom, and which have traditionally served as holiday destinations for a large section of the British people. The inspiration for this pod was my taking a trip to Skegness in October, just before I started my new job. Two nights in a tourist hotspot, out-of-season. Joy. But since I also grew up near a seaside resort, Southport (in the North), and I'd been on holiday many times throughout my life near the coast, I figured it would make a great starting point for a podcast. I talk about childhood experiences, going back as an adult, the history of seaside holidays in the UK, why seaside resorts these days have a bit of a bad reputation, and some hopes for the future. Apart from the above, other places I talk about include Rhyl, Tenby, Hunstanton, Whitby, Saltburn, and Whitley Bay - a good selection I think. There are also contributions from Bea Marshall from YesParenting, Sarah Irving (the Urban Wanderer), Lucy Ruthnum (Absolutely Lucy), Emma Dodd (Barefoot Em Swims), and my friends Jax and Bear from back home in Kirkby-in-Ashfield. A transcript of this episode is available on my website.  My podcast has a Facebook Group dedicated to it , and I also have a Patreon, if you want to pay to access rare extra content (or just because you think it's a nice thing to do).

Many times in Golf (love & life!) we hear people talk about “The One that got away”, like in episode #3 of this podcast with Mike Hearne and his infamous “Tiger King” podcast. In this episode though, I share with you a podcast with Welsh Golf Professional Alastair Jones that should have got away but didn't! For a long time, many fellow golfers told me that Alastair couldn't be reached and wasn't available for any podcast interviews and this caused quite a bit of intrigue given his fame. After calling in a lead from an old contact (thanks Dad!) I was able to get in touch with Alastair and he shared his story with me and also told me about one colossal match that also "didn't get away" from him! I finally reached Alastair, in Dallas, Texas (USA), where he is currently attached to one of the most exclusive Golf Clubs in the World - the Preston Trail Golf Club. The Club is famous for being Byron Nelson' s home club, as well as hosting the Byron Nelson Classic PGA tournament from 1968- 1982, this was a true golden era of golf, seeing the likes of Niklaus, Palmer, Player & Watson. Former president George Bush is also one of the most distinguished members along with many other famous Americans including many famous golfers, hockey players and other sports stars and celebrities. Alastair's father, Ron Jones, was a well known sports journalist in Wales and he introduced Alastair to the game at Radyr Golf Club in Cardiff (UK) and they started playing together. Later on, Alastair also joined my home course Royal Porthcawl (South Wales, UK), which gave him the experience of playing a top links course and this would really prepare him later on for a career run in the British Amateur, as well as claiming the Welsh crown at Tenby. With Royal Porthcawl being a Senior Open Championship venue, Alastair tells me he has had some great conversations with many pros in America, regarding how great a course Royal Porthcawl is! Royal Porthcawl is regarded as the best Golf Course in Wales and is a top 50 course in the UK. Alastair won the Club Championship there, which is no mean feat, following in the footsteps of great players such as John Jermine and Rhys Davies. In 2010, Alastair would go on to achieve a feat that no other Welsh player ever had, in winning the Welsh Youth's and Welsh Amateur Championships in the same year. Alastair shares with me how he achieved a remarkable second place finish in the 2011 British Amateur Qualifying around Hillside and Hesketh and the story of his titanic matchplay battle with Findland's Toni Hakula in 2011, Hakula was also a British Amateur finalist in 2013. #alastairjonesgolf #golf #golfingtales #holinonegolfpodcast #golfpodcast https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/other-sport/golf/golf-alastair-jones-makes-history-1900836 https://www.dmagazine.com/publications/d-ceo/2014/november/the-most-exclusive-private-dallas-clubs/ https://golfhistorytoday.com/1975-tom-watson-byron-nelson-classic/ https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/other-sport/golf/golf-alastair-jones-enjoys-success-1929048.amp https://txstatebobcats.com/sports/mens-golf/roster/alastair-jones/2433

There are around 26,000 species of daffodil in the World, however Britain is home to a special collection of true wild daffodils; smaller and less showy than the more usual cultivated stock, but superbly adapted to survive in our cold wet climate. For Living World, presenter Chris Sperring joins botanist Ray Woods in search of one such daffodil, the Tenby daffodil, the National emblem of Wales. This daffodil is unique in that it is found nowhere else on the Planet except around Tenby and southwest Wales. Most often associated with places of habitation, its origins and history are now lost in history, but by the 1800's this species was abundant in hedgerow and field.
