As a kid, Mathias Guillemette would get stuffed into the back seat of his parents car, wedged between a cooler and luggage, bikes all around, his older brother crammed in there too on their way to a Quebec race anywhere from three to seven hours away from their home in Trois-Rivières. There was also time on the velodromes in Bromont and Milton, Ont. During the past few years, Guillemette's competed in some of the world's top track cycling events, including the Track Champions League, where he's won an elimination race, and the Paris Olympics. This year, Guillemette's cycling career is taking a new direction. He's landed a spot on the Tudor Pro Cycling continental-level development team. At 23, he's a senior rider with some teammates four years younger than him. In this episode of the Canadian Cycling Magazine Podcast, you'll find out how Guillemette, with a little tip from another track cyclist turned roadie, got on to the Swiss team and how his skills on the track might translate to success on the road with the devo team and the ProTeam. This episode of the Canadian Cycling Magazine Podcast is supported by MS Bike. Sony's newly developed Layer 2 scaling solution, Soneium, has achieved significant adoption in the Decentralised Finance (DeFi) space. The network's total value locked (TVL) has surpassed US $45 million, propelling it into the top 60 blockchain networks. This growth is attributed to the "Conquest" campaign, which incentivised user engagement and exploration of Soneium's ecosystem. Decentralised exchanges on Soneium, like Kyo Finance, Velodrome and Sonex, have seen substantial increases in TVL. Despite initial community concerns regarding censorship, Soneium has gained traction, demonstrating promising growth in the competitive DeFi landscape. The success of Soneium highlights the continuing development and adoption of new projects within the cryptocurrency market, even amidst broader market challenges.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Jimbo's got Julien Laurens, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús and James Horncastle alongside him for a deep dive into a fascinating weekend of action across the continent. It's fair to say the Serie A title race is hotting up, with just two points separating Napoli in first and Juventus in sixth! That's after Inter and Napoli shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the San Siro, while Atalanta, Fiorentina, Lazio and Juve all picked up big wins. Real Madrid clawed back some ground in the La Liga title race after their 4-0 win over Osasuna which included a hat-trick for Vinicius, a first goal of the season for Jude Bellingham - and a devastating injury for Eder Militao. They're now six points behind Barcelona with a game in hand after Hansi Flick's side fell to only their second league defeat of the season at Real Sociedad in controversial circumstances... Bayern Munich find themselves five points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table after their 1-0 win over St Pauli courtesy of Jamal Musiala's sensational strike. Meanwhile, Dortmund's horror start to the season rumbled on with a 3-1 defeat at Mainz - and Leverkusen's week to forget continued as they were held by Bochum. And in Ligue 1, it's business as usual for PSG who continued their unbeaten start to the season in a 4-2 win over Angers. Not such smooth sailing for Roberto De Zerbi's Marseille, beaten 3-1 by newly promoted Auxerre at the Velodrome which prompted the former Brighton boss to say he'll ‘leave the money and hand back my contract'. *** We've been nominated for Podcast of the Year at the 2024 Football Supporters' Association Awards! Welcome to episode 16 of EigenLayer Unlocked, for a further look into the interoperability endgame. In today's video, we are focused on the technical design of Hyperlane's open framework for interoperability. Joined by Jon Kol, we touched on why we believe that modular, horizontal scaling is key for the future of the crypto space and building towards that future is where Hyperlane is headed. Recently, Hyperlane announced 'Supelane' in collaboration with Velodrome that brings consistent security across Superchain L2s. Superlane aims to create unified experiences with customizable security that scales as each chain develops and grow over time. We also discussed Hyperlane's ISMs, which allow developers to pick and choose their security parameters, from basic setups to more sophisticated ZK bridging. What was really particularly interesting was their idea of enabling insurance for bridging using EigenLayer. Hyperlane is working to enable restakers to restake cryptoassets as a form of insurance for bridging as well as a security marketplace that lets you easily tap into trusted operators. We first heard of this idea earlier in the presentation series from Othentic, and its great to see it being built out as 'restaked interop' in Hyperlane. As you know, the interoperability fight is raging on and we are all doing what we can to play a significant role in the future of a composable crypto ecosystem. We're fighting the good fight, alongside great teams like Hyperlane. Website: https://therollup.co/ Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1P6ZeYd.. A big game weekend! Arsenal and Liverpool played to a 2-2 draw, with Magnus not fully satisfied with that result at the Emirates. Juve and Inter delivered an absolute Italian classic with an eight-goal thriller. Could be the game of the season . Out in France, PSG showed Marseille who's boss in a dominant 3-0 win at the Velodrome, and Ikenna was hoping we could get through the episode without mentioning El Clasico. How did they recover from the grueling training? What was it like to be a member of the 2000 Olympic Team in Sydney? Was there ever a temptation to take PEDs or blood dope and what are their thoughts on those who did? How do these two accomplished cyclists view former teammate Lance Armstrong today? A fun discussion with two of the most gifted and disciplined men you will meet. Give it a listen!!
Larry and Chris explore the world of early Twentieth century bicycle racing. Enjoy!
A local cycling competition taking place at the city centre velodrome in Padova, Italy. We can hear commentary about the racers and the race, and cyclists whizzing past us periodically. Since this recording was made in August 2023, the velodrome has now permanently closed, making this sound recording a piece of the city's history. Recorded by Cities and Memory.
"The composition is made up of samples cut from the original field recordings. These samples were: commentator's voice, other voices, clapping etc. These samples have been mangled, chopped and diced and served with synths, white noise and drum machines." Padova velodrome reimagined by Simon Woods.
Alex Cutler and Ace are Core Contributors at Aerodrome and Velodrome. In this episode, we discuss whether Aerodrome and Velodrome can dethrone Uniswap. Alex and Ace share why these popular ve(3,3) AMMs continue to capture a significant portion of Uniswap's dominance on Base and Optimism, and how they've set the bar for teams championing the anti-VC sentiment with zero fees, no VC backing, and no major team unlocks. ------

Today's episode of Reading with Your Kids features powerful conversations with authors Kimberly Brubaker Bradley and Deborah Friedman. Kimberly discussed her New York Times bestselling book "The Night War", set during the 1942 Velodrome d'Hiver roundup in Paris where over 13,000 Jews were detained. She explained why it's important for children's books to teach the history of the Holocaust in an age-appropriate way. Deborah Friedman then celebrated her new picture book "Partly Cloudy", aimed at sparking curiosity about science. The book tells the story of two bunnies with different perspectives on clouds - one sees them as art, the other understands their scientific properties. Both authors discussed the value of using children's literature to expose kids to diverse cultures and perspectives. They also emphasized the importance of observing the natural world and asking questions to cultivate curiosity. The conversations provided insights into the authors' creative processes and how they incorporate research into their storytelling. Click here to visit our website - www.readingwithyourkids.com

In this episodes we look into Le Classique against Marseille and how PSG beat them well and truly with 10 players on the pitch for 50 minutes out of 90 and all this in front of 60 000 fuming fans. The red card involved some drama as you would imagine and we look into it all. After the match Kylian Mbappé posted a photograph of himself solemnly walking with a captain's armband in his hand in Marseille rain at the Stade de Velodrome. A very melancholic and dramatic image no doubt, but how do we read it while his team mates were celebrating the excellent victory over the arch-rivals. PSG women have made their way to the Champions League semi-finals and they will play against their domestic rivals Lyon there. Both teams are still alive in all competitions. It's very exciting season. Hopefully you enjoy the episode. Her rise has been meteoric and now she has her sights set on this summer's Olympics. A compatriot of Geraint's, she grew up in Carmarthen and, having discovered cycling, she spent her teenage years travelling to and from the velodrome in Newport - yes, that's right, the Geraint Thomas National Velodrome of Wales.
