Interview by Kris PetersDrowning Pool's multi-platinum debut album, Sinner, celebrates its 25th anniversary with a special reissue via Craft Recordings, marking its release date on June 5. First unleashed in 2001, Sinner remains a towering monument of the nu metal era. It quickly rocketed the Dallas-based heavy metal band into global stardom, debuting at No. 14 on the Billboard 200 and achieving RIAA Platinum status within its first six weeks. At the absolute centre of the album's cultural impact is the explosive hit single, Bodies. Instantly recognizable by its blunt, repetitive, and devastating opening riff, the track became an omnipresent cultural staple. It has soundtracked countless action sports videos, movie trailers, professional wrestling promos, and festival mosh pits and has been a life mantra for countless fans around the world. Alongside Bodies, standout tracks like Tear Away and the aggressive title track Sinner gave the record its thematic weight, exploring internal conflict and religious pressures. Sinner was also the first, and only, Drowning Pool album to feature original vocalist Dave Williams before his tragic passing in 2002 and remains the benchmark for debut albums across all genres. With the Anniversary issue out this Friday, and Drowning Pool preparing to hit the road where they will be playing Sinner in full, guitarist and founding member CJ Pierce has donated some of his time to chat with his Australian family about the album and plenty more. One of the topics of discussion was Williams and the emotions that invariably arise when Sinner is mentioned."Dave Williams was such a great human being, and he was excited to play rock music," CJ reminisced. "And just the stuff you don't think about, man, because life is just going, going, going. So it's been a time of self-reflection. And then us going over all the songs on the entire record. I'm excited to play this live, and I've been re-inspired by it, all three of us. And we just started writing all this new stuff. We walked into the studio with all these ideas we've been working on all year long, and all of a sudden, it's just like, it just started pouring out of us, man. So, I'm super excited about this song because we've been really inspired by the first record, and we're here doing it. The other thing that's exciting is we haven't been able to play the record in its entirety in so long. So the hardcore fans that have been with us get to see that again. And then there's a whole new generation of teenagers to 20-year-olds that are coming out that are finding nu metal again. So, for us to be able to play this record for them, for them to see it after so much time is super exciting. So, I'm all jacked up about it, man. I can't wait."In the full interview, CJ ran through his memories of making Sinner, their hopes for how it would be received and the weight of a massive commercial success. He reluctantly picked his personal favourite song from Sinner, running us through stories on a number of the songs and how they came into being. We discussed the limited edition vinyl release of the album as well as the three bonus tracks on the digital release, including Rob Zombie's The Man Without Fear. Drowning Pool's upcoming tour was mentioned, as was the possibility of an Australian tour early next year. CJ spoke of his fondness for Australia and the relationships he has built here, before moving on to new material and what we can expect and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

This episode of PLAY MORRICONE FOR ME explores the sordid world of 80's & 90's erotic thrillers—flippantly described as "bunny boilers" in the trades. The genre exploded into the mainstream with FATAL ATTRACTION, saw the rewriting of its musical DNA with BASIC INSTINCT, and exists today in a hibernative state, a reminder of a pre-Marvel movie pop cultural landscape for mature audiences. Jeff Beal is a prolific composer who has scored hundreds of films and series, including House of Cards (Netflix), Rome (HBO), Carnivàle (HBO), and Monk (USA Network), as well as the films Pollock and Appaloosa and numerous acclaimed documentaries. His recent project is a new symphonic score for the 1927 silent film classic Metropolis, widely regarded as one of the most influential films ever made. In addition, the five-time Emmy winner recently scored the Peacock/Universal series All Her Fault, starring Sarah Snook, creating an ever-dark and ominous backdrop to the high-tension thriller series based on the novel by Andrea Mara. In April 2026, for the Cinematic Sound Radio Podcast, Jason Drury had the pleasure of talking to Jeff about both scores via Zoom from a composer's summit in Prague, where he was due to premiere his score for Metropolis, to picture conducting the Czech National Symphony Orchestra the following day. During the show, as well as hearing music from ALL HER FAULT, you will be hearing exclusive clips from METROPOLIS, which is due to be released in 2027. Hour 1 of Rush To Reason features John Rush, Andy Peth, and financial expert Jordan Goodman in a rapid-fire discussion of global war threats, economic uncertainty, energy policy, and political power. They examine how rising tensions with Iran could impact oil prices, inflation, airline travel, and global stability. The conversation asks if the world is edging toward wider conflict and how much America's economic future hinges on events in the Strait of Hormuz. The hour also sharply critiques the Federal Reserve and Jerome Powell, debating interest rates, housing, inflation, and the political forces shaping economic decisions. Other topics include Spirit Airlines' collapse, blocked mergers, LNG exports, Colorado's natural gas, Cuba's ongoing crisis, and the political fallout from rising utility bills. From energy independence and airline bankruptcies to inflation and geopolitics, Hour 1 highlights how deeply interconnected today's major systems are. HOUR 2 Colorado Republicans Face A Political Identity Crisis. Hour 2 delivers a candid look at Colorado's Republican Party and its candidates, spotlighting the divide between ideology, strategy, and electability. John Rush and Andy Peth assess Greg Lopez, Victor Marks, Scott Bottoms, and Barb Kirkmeyer, raising the tough question: who can win statewide in today's Colorado? They cover campaign charisma, debate strategy, abortion politics, voter psychology, caucus influence, and whether splitting the conservative vote unintentionally helps Democrats. John and Andy discuss how unaffiliated voters influence elections, why emotional political movements struggle to expand beyond their base, and how internal Republican divisions could affect congressional races. They also examine the decline of Colorado Republican leadership, criticizing infighting, failed strategy, and divisive figures. The hour ends with a warning about political reality, messaging, and whether Colorado Republicans will adapt or keep losing statewide influence. HOUR 3 Candidate Vetting, Party Chaos, And The Fight Over Colorado's Republican Future. Hour 3 dives into candidate vetting, political credibility, and the growing feud within Colorado's Republican Party. John Rush, Andy Peth, and Eli Bremer discuss the controversy surrounding former CD8 candidate Adam DeRito and what his story reveals about the party leadership and candidate screening in Colorado. They explore allegations about DeRito's military history, dishonesty, and fabricated stories, showing how flawed candidates can still rise inside activist circles. The discussion then broadens: Colorado Republicans are accused of empowering emotional factions and unelectable candidates while alienating the unaffiliated voters needed to win statewide. They also discuss Ron Hanks, Dave Williams, caucus politics, donor fatigue, lawsuits, and party cronyism, highlighting frustration with a system that rewards activism over electability. The hour ends with a warning about political incentives, failed leadership, and whether Colorado Republicans can rebuild credibility before losing statewide relevance for good.

In this episode of Next on the Tee, we focus on one thing every golfer needs as the temperatures rise—comfort on the course. First, I'm joined by Teddy Lynn, Founder of Heathlander Golf. Teddy shares the real story behind building a golf shoe and apparel brand from the ground up, including the setbacks, the lessons learned, and the persistence it took to get it right—even buying back thousands of pairs of shoes along the way. That journey led to Heathlander winning Best New Product at the 2025 PGA Merchandise Show. We also dive into what makes their products stand out and what's coming next. Then, Dave Williams, Co-Founder and President of 2UNDR, joins the show. We talk about solving one of golf's most annoying problems—on-course discomfort—and how their innovative designs and moisture-wicking fabrics keep you cool, dry, and focused. Dave also shares insights on their 2026 lineup, how they landed Rickie Fowler as a brand ambassador, plus how other guys on the Tour are customers as well. It's a fun and insightful episode with two founders who are making the game more comfortable from the ground up—literally. Dancing with the Stars performer Val Chmerkovskiy was recently sidelined while on tour in Peoria, Illinois, after experiencing severe dizziness—symptoms doctors traced to benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, or BPPV. The condition, caused by loose calcium crystals in the inner ear, has also affected Bloomington resident Dave Williams for decades. Treatment methods have come a long way, from basic medications to advanced technology like diagnostic goggles and virtual reality systems at OSF HealthCare. Specialists at OSF HealthCare explain that this condition is caused by tiny crystals in the inner ear moving into the wrong area, disrupting balance and causing severe spinning sensations. Technology has advanced rapidly, with high-tech goggles now allowing therapists to pinpoint trouble spots and guide effective treatments, such as the Epley maneuver. For long-time sufferers like David Williams of Bloomington, these innovations mean quicker recovery and fewer surprises.

For long-time sufferers like David Williams of Bloomington, these innovations mean quicker recovery and fewer surprises.

Today on THE ESSENTIAL SOUNDTRACKS, Erik Woods, Robert Daniels, and Randy Andrews continue their journey through the STAR TREK films and their soundtracks as they discuss the eighth movie in the series, STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT. You'll hear them discuss the film in great detail, including such topics as the selection of Jonathan Frakes as director, the design of the new Enterprise E, Worf's return, the Defiant, the special effects as created by Industrial Light and Magic, the Borg Queen, and more. Also covered in great length is Jerry Goldsmith's incredible score (with help from son Joel). STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT was released on November 22, 1996. James Cromwell, Alfre Woodard, and Alice Krige join cast members from the 1987 series STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION who were starring in their very first solo STAR TREK motion picture. In the film, the Borg travel back in time, intent on preventing Earth's first contact with an alien species. Captain Picard and his crew pursue them to ensure that Zefram Cochrane makes his maiden flight, reaching warp speed. The original soundtrack album was released at the time of the film's release on GNP Crescendo Records, featuring 44 minutes worth of score with two licensed songs. On April 2, 2012, GNP Crescendo Records announced a limited-edition collector's CD pressed to 10,000 copies. It features the complete score by Jerry Goldsmith with additional music by his son Joel, newly remastered by recording engineer Bruce Botnick, with an accompanying 16-page booklet including informative notes by Jeff Bond and John Takis. The album is still available to purchase at the time of this recording. NOTE - Our Patreon-only episode includes an extra segment discussing the cue "The Dish." You can listen to that version HERE. Play Morricone For Me salutes Hollywood's King of the B's on the one hundredth anniversary of his birth. Roger Corman mentored a generation of New Hollywood talent and produced, directed and/or distributed some 500 feature films in his 70-year career, including gothic horror, atomic sci-fi, b-westerns, teen delinquent melodramas, biker flicks, Depression-outlaw actioners, wry social satires, and even the occasional masterpiece. With his finger firmly on the pulse of the USA's emerging youth culture, Corman frequently thought outside the box and hired composers from the world of jazz, pop or rock and roll to score his pictures, like Fred Katz, Les Baxter, Davie Allan, Mike Bloomfield, and more. Today's program features a plethora of drive-in movie scores, vintage radio spots for Corman productions, and a few other surprises. Welcome to the inaugural episode of PLAY MORRICONE FOR ME on CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO. You have no idea how thrilled I am to welcome Jack Criddle and his terrific program into the CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO family. I've been an admirer of Jack's show for quite some time; it reminds me a lot of Ley Bricknell's FILMIC program... eclectic, unique, exceptional, and downright entertaining. Similar to Ley, he plays stuff on this show I never would have thought to play. So, strap yourself in because once you hear the words "Play Morricone For Me," you are in for a ride. Please give a warm CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO welcome to Jack in the comments below. - Erik Woods —— SHOW NOTES Producer & host Jack Criddle started broadcasting PLAY MORRICONE FOR ME—a film music radio show with an inclination towards cult and genre scores—in 2017, on the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts' station. The program switched to a prerecorded format in 2020, has highlighted everything from spaghetti westerns to cannibal movies to Disney songs, and has featured such guests as John Sayles, Fabio Frizzi, Ben Model and the B-52's Pat Irwin. To celebrate the beginning of PMFM's new home on Cinematic Sound Radio, Jack turns his attention to debut film scoring gigs by some of the world's great composers. These range from the relatively obscure, like Morricone's IL FEDERALE, John Barry's NEVER LET GO, and Quincy Jones's THE BOY IN THE TREE, to the well-known and celebrated, like CITIZEN KANE, CAPTAIN BLOOD, DEEP RED, SHAFT and more. Over the past decade, CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO has produced numerous programs celebrating the life and music of James Horner, including a standout three-part documentary by Jason Drury that remains essential listening. I've also contributed several Horner-focused episodes myself, from explorations of his re-recorded works and end credit suites to in-depth analyses of Sneakers and Aliens alongside Randy Andrews. I had assumed I'd said all I wanted to say about Horner, but over the past year I've come across a few unusual scores while filling gaps in my CD collection, titles like The Name of the Rose, Where the River Runs Black, and Southpaw, that pulled me back in. Horner is widely known for his emotionally rich, melodic style, blending sweeping orchestration with subtle electronic elements and crafting memorable themes that carry a film's emotional core. But beyond that familiar sound lies a more experimental side, where he embraced unconventional techniques and textures. In scores like The Name of the Rose and Commando, he explored eerie vocalizations, dissonant electronics, and unusual instrumentation, revealing a composer willing to take creative risks. Today's program is dedicated to those bold, avant-garde Horner works that showcase his more unexpected musical voice. Hour 1 of Rush to Reason explores a wide-ranging discussion of health, vaccines, and medical questions many Americans are asking. John Rush is joined by Dr. Kelly Victory and Steve House to examine reports that severe cardiac events among younger Americans may be rising. What could be driving the increase, and why are doctors and policymakers reluctant to investigate it more aggressively? The conversation looks at the difference between traditional heart attacks and sudden cardiac death, along with concerns about myocarditis, spike proteins, and possible long-term effects of mRNA technology. Listeners ask whether an “off switch” for mRNA might exist and what testing options are available for those who want to understand their risk. From antibody testing and D-dimer blood tests to supplements that may reduce spike proteins, the panel answers listener questions while urging caution about online medical claims. The hour also examines the safety of vaccines such as flu shots and Shingrix, the integrity of the blood supply, and whether hormone replacement therapy could help aging men and women regain vitality. Are Americans getting the full story from the medical establishment—or are critical questions still going unanswered? Website mentioned https://www.labcorp.com/ HOUR 2 Hour 2 of Rush to Reason dives into Colorado politics, election strategy, and internal battles shaping the Republican Party's future. John Rush begins with Zach Kraft of the Republican National Committee, discussing a controversial Colorado congressional candidate whose policies could threaten industries such as oil, gas, and ranching in the state. The discussion expands to national politics, including a government shutdown fight tied to Department of Homeland Security funding and ICE, raising questions about how political gridlock affects everyday workers. The hour then shifts into an unfiltered look at why Republicans continue losing elections in Colorado. Are voting systems really the issue—or are weak candidates, poor campaign strategy, and party infighting to blame? Rush argues the real problems lie within the party itself, including the caucus system, fractured campaigns, and limited voter outreach. Listeners call in to debate election integrity, messaging, and candidate viability. The hour ends with a warning: if conservative votes remain divided—including unaffiliated runs—Democrats could easily maintain control. Can Republicans unite and build a winning strategy, or will internal divisions continue to cost them elections? Timestamps 1:08 — Zach Kraft — Central Regional Communications Director. https://gop.com HOUR 3 Hour 3 of Rush to Reason begins with a powerful personal story before turning to Colorado politics. Author Katie Asher discusses her book The Book of Heaven, sharing how her non-speaking autistic son eventually learned to communicate—revealing intelligence and perceptions that challenge common assumptions about severe autism. Could society be misunderstanding what autism really is? The conversation then shifts to Colorado politics as listeners call in to discuss party unity, grassroots involvement, and the resignation of Colorado GOP Chair Britta Horne. Rush argues that internal factions—particularly those connected to Dave Williams and the “Davidians” movement—have fractured the party and weakened its ability to compete statewide. Rush warns that without structural reform and stronger leadership, the Republican Party may struggle to compete in a state trending increasingly blue. Can the party rebuild trust with voters and unify its base—or will internal divisions continue shaping Colorado's political future? This week on The Show, the guys dive into several topics currently being discussed across the reining and performance horse industry, including the proposed AQHA rule on frozen semen, conversations about ¼-point scoring in reining, and what these changes could mean for breeders, competitors, and the future of the sport.Although there wasn't originally a guest scheduled, Dave Williams ended up jumping in to fill the chair, which quickly became a running joke throughout the episode. Dave talks about his business, Nautilus, an equine therapy spa focused on helping horses recover, perform, and feel their best. He also shares the story of riding Wimpys Little Step as a two-year-old, offering a fun look back at the early days of one of reining's most influential stallions. From there, the conversation shifts to the proposed AQHA semen rule, which would limit the use of a stallion's frozen semen to two years after his death, with stallions born before 2015 grandfathered in. The guys discuss what a rule like this could mean for breeding programs, stallion owners, and the long-term impact on genetics within the industry. They also talk about the idea that occasionally gets floated around about adding ¼-point increments to the reining judging scale, and whether a change like that could improve accuracy and consistency in scoring.Along the way, the conversation touches on the Run for a Million qualifier coming up next week, thoughts on the broader direction of AQHA, and a brief mention of the new NRHA schooling show dress code rule. With plenty of laughs and honest opinions, this episode covers a wide range of conversations currently happening across the reining, breeding, and performance horse world.•••The Show Podcast | Reining Horses | NRHA | AQHA | Performance Horses | Horse Industry Conversations

Join the Conversation at 303-477-5600 or text to 307-200-8222 Monday - Friday from 3 pm - 6 pm MT. HOUR 1 Hour 1 of https://RushToReason.com dives straight into a political firestorm inside the Colorado Republican Party. John Rush and Andy Peth unpack what Andy witnessed during a marathon State Central Committee meeting the night before—one filled with accusations, power struggles, and an overwhelming vote of “no confidence” against party chair Britta Horn. But what's really happening behind the scenes? Were internal allies secretly working against her, and how much influence does former chair Dave Williams still have inside the party? The conversation widens into a bigger question: is the GOP's current caucus-and-assembly system allowing a tiny fraction of activists to control candidate selection and party leadership? With fewer than 1% of Republicans attending caucus meetings, John and Andy ask whether this insider-driven process is producing candidates who can actually win statewide elections. Could eliminating caucuses and relying on petition access to the primary ballot be the only way to rebuild the party in Colorado? They also challenge supporters of the so-called “Davidian” faction to call in and defend their strategy. Is this movement strengthening the Republican Party—or driving it deeper into defeat? HOUR 2 Hour 2 of Rush To Reason picks up with John and Andy tackling some of the biggest questions raised by listeners. What exactly is a “Davidian,” and why do the hosts believe this faction still holds enormous influence inside the Colorado GOP? As they continue unpacking the party's internal turmoil, they argue the caucus-and-assembly system allows a tiny fraction of activists to control leadership decisions—leaving most Republican voters on the sidelines. Could a statewide petition to eliminate caucuses be the only way to change the political trajectory of Colorado? The conversation then pivots to global strategy. Are U.S. actions against Iran really about protecting Israel, or is something much larger at play? John and Andy outline what they see as a broader geopolitical chessboard involving oil markets, China, Russia, and shifting alliances across the Middle East. Later, they turn to domestic energy politics. Why are resource-rich places like California, Colorado, and even Canada importing energy while restricting their own production? And could policy choices—rather than shortages—be driving rising costs? Through it all, the hosts challenge listeners to think strategically: if political leadership, energy policy, and global alliances are all connected, what happens next? HOUR 3 Hour 3 of Rush To Reason dives deeper into the political turmoil inside the Colorado GOP. John and Andy argue the party's internal battles didn't suddenly appear—they've been building for more than a decade. How did a small faction gain so much influence inside the party, and why do the hosts believe former chair Dave Williams still holds power behind the scenes? John insists the lawsuits and leadership fights are symptoms of a much bigger problem tied to the caucus system itself. The conversation then shifts toward the 2026 election landscape. Is Colorado headed for a massive blue wave—and could the state's divided Republican Party make it even worse? The hosts analyze potential candidates, including Victor Marx and Scott Bottoms, as they debate strategy, messaging, and whether debates even matter this early in a campaign. A listener then raises a provocative question: if statewide victories are unlikely, should Republicans focus on flipping key legislative seats instead? Could a smarter strategy in the House and Senate change the balance of power in Colorado—even if the governor's race is out of reach?

HOUR 1 Hour 1 of https://RushToReason.com dives straight into a political firestorm inside the Colorado Republican Party. John Rush and Andy Peth unpack what Andy witnessed during a marathon State Central Committee meeting the night before—one filled with accusations, power struggles, and an overwhelming vote of “no confidence” against party chair Britta Horn. But what's really happening behind the scenes? Were internal allies secretly working against her, and how much influence does former chair Dave Williams still have inside the party? Simon Franglen is a multi-award-winning British composer and record producer whose music has been included in some of the most critically acclaimed films of recent decades. Franglen composed the acclaimed score for James Cameron's AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER in 2023, after his collaboration with the late James Horner on the original film in 2009. He received a 2023 World Soundtrack Award and a 2022 IFMCA Award for his efforts. His score was praised for expanding the sonic world of Pandora with both epic scale and profound intimacy and was a global hit, with the soundtrack album surpassing 750 million global streams. Over the past two years, he has continued his collaboration with Cameron on AVATAR: FIRE AND ASH, released in December 2025, a score that introduced major new themes, textures, and innovative electronica to the AVATAR musical universe. In January 2026, for TALKING SOUNDTRACKS, Jason Drury had the pleasure of talking to Simon via Zoom at his home in Los Angeles. During the interview, they talked about Simon's work on the AVATAR franchise, how he became involved in film music and his relationship and collaboration with the late great James Horner. Send us a message! Really! This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, the reports of the political insurgency in Colorado Politics appear to have been greatly exaggerated; we check in on how the 2026 primaries are shaping up on both sides of the aisle. Then, did new leadership bring a new dawn and a new day for the Colorado GOP? No, somehow the new Chair is even less competent than Dave Williams, which is a very high or very low bar! Then, we always said Gabe Evans would come to regret his lie that ICE agents are going after “gangsters, not grandmas,” and that day is officially here. Then, Lauren Boebert wants credit for doing the wrong thing, and President Trump may not actually know WHY Tina Peters is in jail in Colorado. But first, after a year of living in an Oligarchic Kleptocracy or a Kleptocratic Oligarchy, we check back in with Professor Tom Pepinsky of Cornell University to see if we've really slid into authoritarianism or if Trump 2.0 is too incompetent to pull it off. That's it for this episode! If you loved watching and/or listening to it as much as we loved recording it, you can thank us by subscribing to the pod wherever you listen, following us over on New Old Twitter AKA Bluesky, subscribing to our shiny new channel on YouTube, smashing that subscribe button on our Substack, and sharing this episode with your friends, your enemies, and your 8th favorite Member of Congress from Colorado! In 1971, a red-headed, tree-loving astronaut named Stu ‘Smokey' Roosa was asked to take something to the moon with him. Of all things, he chose to take a canister of 500 tree seeds. After orbiting the moon 34 times, the seeds made it back to Earth. NASA decided to plant the seeds all across the country and then… everyone forgot about them. Until one day, a third grader from Indiana stumbled on a tree with a strange plaque: "Moon Tree." This discovery set off a cascading search for all the trees that visited the moon across the United States. Science writer, and our very own factchecker, Natalie Middleton (https://www.nataliemiddleton.org/) tells us the tale.Read Lulu's remembrance of Alice Wong for Transom.org: 13 questions I'll never get to ask Alice Wong (https://transom.org/2025/13-questions-ill-never-get-to-ask-alice-wong/).
