Spencer and Tim's college friend and fellow Tom Cruise enthusiast Darin joins in as we, like Tom Cruise, CLIMB our way back into the Mission: Impossible rewatch. Join in the convo as we discuss 'The Incredibles' Director Brad Bird's positive influences on the film, the secret writer who saved the movie, and the paradox of "great movie, terrible villain?"

Writer/Director Brad Bird and Producer Nicole Paradis Grindle join us from the studios at Pixar to discuss returning fourteen years later for the sequel to a beloved film as they describe the technical challenges of the new movie, how their approach to visual design, color, and sound have evolved, and the inspiration behind the notorious fight scene between baby Jack-Jack and the raccoon.
Brad Bird has become one of the most successful directors in recent memory. He has given us instant classics such as "The Iron Giant," "The Incredibles," "Ratatouille" and now "Incredibles 2." He has also directed the live-action films "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" "Tomorrowland." With such a prolific career, we were lucky enough to get a few minutes of his time to talk about his past and upcoming work here on the Next Best Picture Podcast. Is it a bird!? Is it a plane!? No... it's a... Bird. Sorry, turns out it was a Bird after all. Welcome to Episode 26 of The Big Reviewski, the show from JOE and Her that jumps around the place thinking it's a superhero and wearing spandex that's way too tight. Sorry about that. Speaking of way-too-tight spandex, host Eoghan Doherty is joined by two actual heroes who have a particular penchant for the really sparkly spandex you can get in your local Penneys – these guys make that stuff look good – it is, of course, Paul Moore and Rory Cashin. It's an especially incredible show coming up this week, as the gang are joined by the writer and director of Incredibles 2, the genius that is Brad Bird, and the Pixar producer of that film, John Walker. Plus we've got gamillions of reviews, some good ol' goodies to give away, and a shocking case of Haiclue Haieresy! Don't ask, just listen...

Inside The Mouse Castle: Disney News, Information and Commentary
After technical difficulties and busy travel schedules squashed last week's show, Tim and Anthony are back for another go-round Inside The Mouse Castle. We start off with Tim's review of Walt Disney, the new American Experience documentary airing this week on PBS. It's an earnest, if somewhat biased, depiction of Walt's life that plays up the darker elements of his personality and career. Fans will appreciate the rare photographs and archival footage, while Disney history buffs will question how the film presents Walt's relationship with his father, his actions during the 1941 studio strike and the assorted psychobabble spouted by some of the "experts" who try to crawl inside Walt's head. Here's what else we have in this week's episode: A live action Frozen stage show will replace the long-running Disney's Aladdin--A Musical Spectacular production in the Hyperion Theater at Disney California Adventure...and the Internet loses its mind. We now know for certain that Disneyland and Walt Disney World will break ground on their Star Wars-Land expansions next year. That means the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, the popular holiday light show at Disney's Hollywood Studios will blink out after this year. Director Brad Bird has let it be known that work on Incredibles 2 is moving along briskly, so well that it will likely be released before the other Pixar sequel, Cars 3. That still means it probably won't be out until 2018, but any news about The Incredibles is good news. Disney Infinity 3.0 will be available on Apple TV after the streaming service undergoes an extensive update in October. Some participants in this month's Disneyland Half-Marathon complained of incorrect corral assignments, suggesting there are proof-of-time security issues with RunDisney and TrackShack. There will no longer be chanting allowed at Walt Disney World. Unofficially, of course. Enjoy! www.TheMouseCastle.com
