Some of the items include Chicken-coconut Curry Sweet Potato or the Pride Rock Punch at Troubadour Tavern, or the Peaches and Cream Funnel Cake at Award Wieners. Outside of the parks, GCH Craftsman Bar at the Grand Californian will offer Jerk Seasoned Beef Tenderloin Skewers & Coconut Shrimp, with raspberry rum sauce! – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/05/cooking-up-the-magic-pride-rock-punch-recipe-plus-celebrate-soulfully-delights-coming-soon-to-disneyland-resort/ For those Weeklyteers who can't make it to the parks for the Pride Rock Punch, you are in luck! The Disney Parks Blog posted the recipe so you can make this thirst quenching beverage at home! With just 8 ingredients and a few minutes of time, and you can make this at home for 4-6 people, or servings if you aren't sharing! – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/05/cooking-up-the-magic-pride-rock-punch-recipe-plus-celebrate-soulfully-delights-coming-soon-to-disneyland-resort/ Fantasmic! fans rejoice! The return of the biggest nighttime spectacular is just a few days away as we record this episode. Most of the infrastructure has been updated and refurbished to get everything show ready, and the work on the pathways along the riverfront are wrapping up as well. We can't wait to see how the show looks after its long hibernation since COVID. – https://www.micechat.com/322309-disneyland-update-the-cost-of-magic-project-gateway/ A few episodes ago, we talked about the possible value of the Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge where guests can book a spot to have some goodies and watch the fireworks from the top section of the Star Wars Launch Bay. For $60, guests can come and go as they please from the lounge, and are treated to an entree, side, and dessert with unlimited assorted beverages. Food is ordered from the Galactic Grill upon check-in and then brought into the lounge by the guest. A badge and lanyard is also provided. Giant games are also on hand to keep everyone occupied. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/22/review-is-disneys-exclusive-tomorrowland-lounge-worth-the-we-found-out/ Guests who are seeking adventure and salty old pirates won't have to wait too much longer. The Pirates of the Caribbean attraction is not listed on the refurbishment calendar after July 1st, so it could open around that time! Disney has not announced an official date, and there are no dining reservations offered for the Blue Bayou for that time either, but with any luck guests will be celebrating the 4th of July with the swashbuckling pirates. – https://www.micechat.com/322309-disneyland-update-the-cost-of-magic-project-gateway/ Something that Avengers Campus has been missing since its opening last year is more shade and seating. Disney has listened and some covered tables and chairs have been installed next to the Avengers Headquarters. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/05/seating-installed-next-to-avengers-headquarters-at-avengers-campus-in-disney-california-adventure/ So this amazing movie came to Disney+ last week and the reviews have been pretty positive. Guests can now meet the stars from the movie at Disney California Adventure. Chip and Dale from the new Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers are appearing at the entrance to Hollywood Land, to the left of the Hyperion Theater for meet and greets. The crime fighting duo are dressed in their classic outfit from the TV show. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/05/chip-n-dale-meeting-guests-as-the-rescue-rangers-at-disney-california-adventure-to-celebrate-movie-premiere-on-disney/ We aren't going to cover this too much until things are finalized, but there is a change being proposed by Disney to its cast members to do away with the points system for attendance issues and move to an occurrence system. Very basically, this will make it easier for Disney to let go cast members with attendance issues and makes working at Disneyland less flexible for the cast members. We will keep an eye on this and let everyone know when there is an update. – https://www.micechat.com/322309-disneyland-update-the-cost-of-magic-project-gateway/ Discussion Topic: Disneyana – https://disneyanafanclub.weebly.com/we-are-back.html

Fantasmic! debuted on May 13, 1992 at Disneyland. Over the years, the show has added and subtracted different scenes and elements. Some of those include the 2009 upgrade to digital projection and the current 45-foot tall dragon, known as Murphy! In 2017, new scenes and songs were added including Aladdin. The show has been performed more than 11,000 times since its debut. Fantasmic! returns to the Rivers of America on May 28th. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/05/fantasmic-celebrates-30-years-today-and-gears-up-for-spectacular-return-to-disneyland-park-on-may-28/ Last week, Disneyland teased something returning after long last to Disney California Adventure. The Red Car Trolley should be traveling on the tracks on Buena Vista Street and down Hollywood Land. No exact date was mentioned, but it should return before the full swing of summer. Fans of Trader Sams may be excited with updates to the menu at the popular restaurant at the Disneyland Hotel. Takoyaki, which is fried octopus cakes drizzled with unagi and togarashi aioli, and topped with green onions and bonito flakes. This can be purchased for $18 and it also available for order at Tangaroa Terrace. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/15/picky-eaters-beware-octopus-is-now-on-the-menu-at-a-popular-disneyland-spot/ It seems like the only constant in Avengers Campus is change. Yet another character from the Marvel universe will be on site to visit with guests. Ms. Marvel, the title character from the upcoming Disney+ show should be in the land around the time the show premieres on June 8th. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/05/14/another-new-character-is-coming-to-avengers-campus-at-disneyland-resort/ Next month, Celebrate Soulfully is returning in honor of Black Music Month. The Philly Phonics a cappella group will be performing on the stage in front of Carthay Circle, where the Five and Dime also perform. In Downtown Disney, the former ESPN Zone building will house “The Soul of Jazz: An American Adventure. This is a traveling exhibit which features Joe Gardner from Pixar's “Soul” and takes guests through the history of American Jazz. The exhibit will be run from June 1st through July 4th. Mirabel will be returning to Disney California Adventure for meet and greets at the Paradise Gardens Park. Mirabel was last seen in Frontierland, after originally starting out in DCA at the same location she is now returning to. In addition to meeting Mirabel, guests can also catch the “We Don't Talk About Bruno” projection show on the facade of “it's a small world” every night. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/05/encanto-mirabel-meet-and-greet-returning-to-paradise-gardens-park-at-disney-california-adventure-soon/ June is just a busy month for celebrations! Members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community celebrate pride every June. With all the controversy about the Florida “don't say gay” bill and Disney, the company has decided from now until June 30th, all profits from any pride merchandise will be donated to LGBTQIA+ organizations. Previously, only a small percentage of the profit went to support LGBTQIA+ youth and families. Weeklyteers can visit the link in the show notes to see what organizations are benefiting from this donation. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/05/2022-disney-pride-collection-available-at-disneyland-resort-100-of-profits-benefiting-lgbtqia-organizations/ Discussion: Our Disneyland trip before the Disneyana event.

The first show to return to the Fantasyland Theatre will premiere on May 28th with the return of “Tale of the Lion King.” There is so much planned for this, be sure to visit the link in our show notes for all the information! – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/05/celebrate-soulfully-this-summer-at-disneyland-resort-with-tale-of-the-lion-king-debuting-may-28/ A new addition has been added to the inspirational American heroes area of Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln on Main Street. A bust and portrait of Douglass is now on display near the bust and portrait of Abraham Lincoln in the lobby of the Main Street Opera House. The Scarlet Witch makes appearances at a meet and greet in the middle of the land. – https://twitter.com/Disneyland/status/1522656319395835905 As we have been following for the last few episodes, changes are finally visible for the treehouse in Adventureland. The rope bridge that guests crossed over the path to enter the attraction has been taken down, and the tree in the middle of the path which housed the stairs to the bridge has also started to be dismantled. Still no word from Disney on what the re-theme for this former Tarzan's Treehouse and before that Swiss Family Robinson treehouse will be. – https://www.micechat.com/321168-disneyland-news-update-star-wars-construction-change/ Last week was May the 4th, when Star Wars fans have a day of celebration for the universe that they know and love. Disneyland had two of their Star Wars Nite after-hours parties, with one more to come on May 27th this month. Fans that attended seemed to have a really great time dressing up, watching the special fireworks show for the event, checking out all the photo locations, and meeting up with characters throughout the park. Some highlights were the fireworks show, and the Cantina Band on the Rivers of America playing Star Wars classics. – https://www.micechat.com/321168-disneyland-news-update-star-wars-construction-change/ Some of the photo locations that were offered for Star Wars Nite are also there during normal park hours for pictures. Over by the Star Wars Launch Bay in Tomorrowland, there is a Disney Visa cardholder exclusive location from The Book of Boba Fett. Other photo locations were scattered around Tomorrowland for all guests. – https://www.micechat.com/321168-disneyland-news-update-star-wars-construction-change/ For visitors to the resort that are not in the parks, there are still some Star Wars things to check out! Outside the Star Wars Tradin Post in Downtown Disney, there is a sand sculpture to promote the upcoming Obi Wan Disney+ series. In addition, there is a Lego display outside of the Lego store featuring Captain Phasma, Kylo Ren, and a Sith Trooper, all made of Lego. There is also a massive Lego Yoda on display nearby. – https://www.micechat.com/321168-disneyland-news-update-star-wars-construction-change/ Discussion Topic: Disneyana – https://disneyanafanclub.weebly.com/we-are-back.html

He revealed more details of what is to come at Downtown Disney. In an interview on the D23 Insider podcast, he said that they are looking at Downtown Disney through the lens of Disney Springs out in Florida and how successful that has been. More diverse options are coming with the addition of Din Tai Fung, a Chinese cuisine restaurant, along with Catal and Uva Bar transforming into a hub of Mexican Cuisine with Michelin-starred Chef Carlos Gaytan. What makes this Disneyland trip review interesting is that while Cameron grew up on in the shadows of Walt Disney World, it had been over 20 years since he went to Disneyland for the first and only time. It was only months after Disney California Adventure first opened. He shares his Walt Disney World experience, recalls his first memories of the Disneyland Resort, and then discusses what he loved about the California resort, and how it compares to his home turf at Disneyland. We'll also talk about what's happening in the parks now as new shows and construction are underway. Join us as we experience Disneyland yesterday and today!

Disney is rolling out a virtual queue system for guests to use through the Disneyland mobile app to grab a spot for the show. Guests will need to have entered Disney California Adventure on a one-park ticket, or Disneyland on a park hopper ticket to be able to get the reservation in the virtual queue. The virtual queue will open at noon every day the show runs. Guests will receive notifications 45 minutes before the show starts to head to either a blue or yellow gate to enter the seating area. Guests can still walk up to see the show, but reservations are highly recommended. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/04/dazzling-world-of-color-returns-on-april-22-to-disney-california-adventure-park/ Character meet and greets started up again this week, without Genie+ required like in Walt Disney World. Since January, the Florida parks have offered four different meet and greets as part of the Genie+ service. So, at Disneyland, guests can now get up close to their favorites to get hugs, high fives, and autographs for the first time since the pandemic began in 2020. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/04/13/disneyland-wont-use-genie-for-character-meet-and-greet-photo-ops/ For those of you who like spoilers, the Disney Parks Blog posted a preview of the Main Street Electrical Parade, along with footage of the new float. Along with the new float for the finale, the drum sign that Mickey rides on has also been updated with “50 Years,” noting the 50th anniversary of the classic parade. The reimagined “To Honor America” float looks great with the new Mary Blair inspired Disney characters and fits right in with the rest of the parade. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/04/first-look-at-the-new-grand-finale-in-the-main-street-electrical-parade-debuting-april-22-at-disneyland-park/ MiceChat had some eyes in the skies recently that gives us some insight on the progress being made in Mickey's Toontown! We have the article linked in the show notes showing that Chip and Dale's Treehouse has been removed, and all of the paving, along with the two fountains in the land have been removed. The gazebo in front of the City Hall in Toontown has also been taken down. – https://www.micechat.com/319510-disneyland-update-pruning-disneyland-treehouses/ Tarzan's Treehouse has been under scrims since last September when it abruptly closed to guests. Disney had not addressed why this was, until this week. The current plan for the attraction, which has stood in Adventureland since 1962, is to remove the entrance to the attraction which blocks guest flow, and to eventually re-theme it to something else. MiceChat speculated one of the options would be back to the Swiss Family Robinson since Disney+ was working on a series based on the classic, but our sources say that series has been put on hold for now. Another option is theming it to Encanto. We will keep you updated when we have more solid information on what it will transform into. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/04/18/disneyland-to-give-tarzans-treehouse-a-new-theme/ One of the most iconic songs from the Disney Parks has been inducted into the Library of Congress. “it's a small world” was first heard on the attraction at the 1964-65 New York World's Fair. The fair had the theme of “Peace Through Understanding,” which fits right in with the attraction that was moved to Disneyland after the fair ended. The song was one of 25 recordings “worthy of preservation for all time based on their cultural, historical or aesthetic importance in the nation's recorded sound heritage.” – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/04/14/disneylands-iconic-its-a-small-world-song-inducted-into-library-of-congress-music-registry/ The Magic Key Terrace continues its transformation slowly. New chandeliers and lighting has been installed, along with faux stained glass, a new fountain, wrought-iron fixtures, and more. The theme is highly inspired by peacocks for the interior, covered portion, and by cats on the exterior portion. Overall, this is a nice improvement to the area and makes it feel more welcoming. – https://www.micechat.com/319510-disneyland-update-pruning-disneyland-treehouses/ Scaffolding has come down from around Stage 12 in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot area of Disney California Adventure. The building has been repainted and a meet and greet for Goofy has been placed here for the Food and Wine Festival. This was the area where Captain Marvel's airplane and meet and greet was previously located. – https://www.micechat.com/319510-disneyland-update-pruning-disneyland-treehouses/ Fans of Disney Pixar's Turning Red have a lot of merchandise options around the parks. Some of the items that are available include a Turning Red Minnie Ear set, some amazingly comfy looking slippers, plushes and more. Some of the most popular items like the 4*Town band shirts have sold out, but will hopefully return in the future. – https://www.micechat.com/319350-disneyland-merchandise-update-stitch-toys/ When Disneyland closed in 2020, the Disney Parks YouTube channel posted a video of the Magic Happens parade. This week, Disney has removed that video from their channel, with no explanation of why. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/04/disney-removes-official-video-of-magic-happens-parade-at-disneyland-from-youtube/ Discussion Topic: Nebraska State Poet and Disneyland Fan Matt Mason At The Corner of Fantasy and Main: Disneyland, Midlife, and Churros – https://theoldmillpress.com/at-the-corner-of-fantasy-and-main.html Blog – http://matt.midverse.com/ Facebook Page – https://www.facebook.com/NeSP3

News In an interview with the Orange County Register, Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock made the shocking comment that the phased reopening of the resort is just now at the halfway point. He said that the phased reopening will take at least another year. The resort has rehired or hired 28,000 cast members to bring the current staff to 30,000, 2,000 shy of pre-pandemic levels. Potrock also commented on the ability for the resort to move quickly and try different things, even if they are not perfect, knowing that they will get to a right place in the end. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/04/01/disneyland-resort-president-ken-potrock-takes-stock-at-halfway-point-of-phased-reopening/ As early as April 18th, guests will once again be able to get up close and personal with their favorite Disney characters in the parks, resorts, and cruise ships! Not all locations will return immediately, but characters will return in a phased approach through spring and early summer. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/03/disney-character-greetings-returning-to-u-s-sites-this-spring/ There is a lot of construction on the west side of the park at the moment, but progress is being made! The pits around the end of Tom Sawyer Island have been filled again, after sitting covered and drained for work to be performed over the last couple of months in preparation for Fantasmic! This means that the rafts to the island can use the normal dock again and make the trip to and from the island faster. The Sailing Ship Columbia has also returned to service following it's refurbishment. – https://www.micechat.com/318431-disneyland-update-secret-entry-character-hugs-hyperspace-mountain-park-photos/ Encanto fans rejoice! The movie, which recently won an Academy Award for best animated feature, is coming to the facade of it's a small world! Starting on April 11th, for a limited time, the facade will come alive with a montage paying tribute to the hit song “We Don't Talk About Bruno.” Like the casita in the movie, tiles across it's a small world facade will flip, turn, and rearrange themselves between scenes. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/04/celebrate-disney-animations-award-winning-encanto-this-spring-at-disneyland-resort/ A staple of the summer season at Disneyland is returning for the first time in three years! The All-American College Band will be playing down Main Street once again this summer. The program was suspended due to COVID and the resort being closed. 21 members of the band are chosen from over 300 applicants each year. During the hiatus, the program celebrated its 50th anniversary. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/04/disneyland-all-american-college-band-returning-this-summer/ Guests staying at the Paradise Pier Hotel will soon have easier access to Disney California Adventure! A new back entrance is under construction near the driveway into the Grand Californian Hotel. – https://www.micechat.com/318431-disneyland-update-secret-entry-character-hugs-hyperspace-mountain-park-photos/ Marvel fans have yet another character to see in Avengers Campus! Moon Knight, which debuted last week on Disney+, has arrived at the campus to visit with guests. Moon Knight only shows up after dark on top of the Avengers Headquarters for a few minutes at a time, so check back often after dark if you want to catch a glimpse of this new character! – https://www.micechat.com/318431-disneyland-update-secret-entry-character-hugs-hyperspace-mountain-park-photos/ April is here, and with it the return of the classic Mickey floral in front of the Disneyland Train Station. Minnie Mouse had taken over the arrangement for March as part of Women's History Month. It was the first time that Mickey was not the “face” of the park. – https://www.micechat.com/318431-disneyland-update-secret-entry-character-hugs-hyperspace-mountain-park-photos/ Minnie Mouse has dropped a large collection of new ears in the parks! Five new ear designs are available now at the Emporium at Disneyland. This year, there are THREE games in the Eggstraviganza! Each board is $9.99 plus tax, and can be purchased at select merchandise locations around the resort. One game board is for Disneyland park, one is for Disney California Adventure, and finally one for Downtown Disney. Once guests have found all the eggs, the game boards can be returned for one of six collectable eggs. Redemption locations are at the Plaza Point on Main Street, Elias & Co. on Buena Vista Street, and Disney's Pin Traders in Downtown Disney. The eggstraviganza is available March 31st through April 17th. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/03/eggstravaganza-is-hippity-hoppity-fun-at-the-disneyland-resort/ The Disneyland Resort honored 100,000 years of work from Cast Members with two parties at Disney California Adventure last week. The party featured an open bar and an all-you-can-eat buffet. The cast members that were celebrated were those with over 10 years of service. This included 102 that worked for 40 years at Disneyland, 46 who worked 45 years, and 14 who worked 50 years! Half of the attractions and more than two-dozen Disney, Pixar, and Marvel characters were on hand. It was the largest employee service celebration in Disneyland history. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/03/28/disneyland-honors-100000-years-of-work-with-employee-service-celebration/ A sad bit of news to report this week as one of, if not the most famous cast members at the resort is retiring! Maynard, who Tage has been aware of since the late 90s, is stepping away from the Happiest Place on Earth on April 1st. This isn't an April fools joke though! We were lucky enough to meet him at the Enchanted Tiki Room during our visit in December. He was almost as big of a character as Mickey Mouse himself. Guests were always in for a treat when he was at a location. Disneyland just won't be the same without him, but he deserves some time to himself in retirement! – https://www.micechat.com/317538-disneyland-cast-member-maynard-smith-retires/ Calling all single riders! For the first time since the attraction opened, Web Slingers will offer a single rider line. The new single rider entrance is located between the stand-by entrance and the Lightning Lane entrance. The Disney Food Blog reported that they waited just 17 minutes in the single rider line when the stand-by line was 65 minutes. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/24/single-rider-line-now-available-for-web-slingers-a-spider-man-adventure-in-disneyland/ With Fantasmic! retuning in the next couple of months and Pirates of the Caribbean down for an extended refurbishment, it is the perfect time to re-imagine the waterfront of New Orleans Square. Walls went up almost two weeks ago and work is underway to remove some of the elevated sections of the walkway to provide for more queuing options for Pirates, and better crowd flow for Fantasmic! From the view over the construction walls, the planters have gone away, but the trees have remained. – https://www.micechat.com/317860-dateline-disneyland-disney-dining-drama-downtown-disney-demolition/ One place that the trees have not been spared is in the Pirates Queue where the two older trees have been trimmed back for removal soon. The trees are planned to be replaced in this location to keep the much needed shade while waiting in line for Pirates. – https://www.micechat.com/317860-dateline-disneyland-disney-dining-drama-downtown-disney-demolition/ Another experience from a Galaxy Far, Far Away is coming to Tomorrowland at the end of April. Starting on April 29th, Hyperspace Mountain will launch guests into the Star Wars universe. This experience will not be available for long, so be sure to check it out if you are visiting around the end of April into May. For those who have not experienced this version of Space Mountain, it is basically a Star Wars overlay for the popular indoor coaster. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/28/hyperspace-mountain-is-coming-back-to-disneyland-for-a-limited-time/ Pins fans get excited! Some new limited edition pins, themed to Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Easter, and St. Patrick's Day have arrived around the resort. The limited edition Easter pin features Sleeping Beauty Castle and an Easter basket full of eggs with Disneyland at the bottom for $19.99. The Pirates pin has a skeleton pirate sitting on some treasure with 55th Anniversary on the top and Pirates of the Caribbean at the bottom for $17.99. Kermit the Frog is sitting in a pot of gold for the St. Patrick's Day pin for $17.99. Finally, the Star Wars pins feature Lieutenant Bek or Vi Moradi with an orange Resistance logo and the word Resist on the top for $19.99. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/03/limited-edition-easter-and-star-wars-pins-limited-release-pirates-of-the-caribbean-and-st-patricks-day-pins-arrive-at-disneyland-resort/ This next story is something that we saw ourselves while visiting the resort last week. The new Disney Vacation Club or DVC tower has started vertical construction! when completed, the new tower will stand 12 stories high and add 350 time share villas to the resort. No date on when this tower is scheduled to be completed. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/24/photos-vertical-construction-has-begun-on-the-disneyland-hotel-dvc-tower/ Last week, Magic Key Holders were able to pick up a free souvenir at Disney California Adventure! A Magic Key Holder themed reusable straw was given out to Keyholders on March 21st, 23rd, and 24th. The straw came in a blue carrying case, with a carabiner clip on one end, and unscrews to reveal the straw. The straw itself is blue and split into three pieces, which screw together to make a full length straw. It even came with a straw cleaner. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/19/only-select-guests-can-grab-disneylands-new-free-souvenir/ Discussion Topic: The first few days of the wedding at Disneyland – Teresa and Tage

News: Last week was the last week for Toontown as we knew it. The entire land has now closed and will reopen sometime next spring with a complete renovation. The week leading up to the closure saw a lot of guests getting in their last visit before it turns into something quite new and refreshed. This is the first time that we are aware of that an entire land has been closed for a remodel as extensive as this since the New Fantasyland in the early 80's. – https://www.micechat.com/316816-disneyland-update-bibbidi-bobbidi-kaboom/ Encanto fans can now meet Mirabel in a new location at the resort. Mirabel's meet and greet has moved from the Paradise Garden area of Disney California Adventure, where she was located during the Festival of the Holidays, to Zocalo Park in Frontierland. The lines to meet her have been long, so be prepared to wait a bit if you want to get a picture with her. – https://www.micechat.com/316816-disneyland-update-bibbidi-bobbidi-kaboom/ One of our Weeklyteers will be very excited at this next piece of news! Tinker Bell has returned to Pixie Hollow, the area between Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters and the hub. Tinker Bell has not been in her hollow since sometime in 2020 before the closure of the parks. This is a welcome addition to the meet and greet lineup and is sure to be popular. – https://www.micechat.com/316816-disneyland-update-bibbidi-bobbidi-kaboom/ Captain Marvel must be on a mission elsewhere as the jet for her meet and greet has been removed from the Hollywood Pictures Backlot. The area is now behind constructions walls. Who knows what this location will become in the future. – https://www.micechat.com/316816-disneyland-update-bibbidi-bobbidi-kaboom/ The new shop in Fantasyland that took over the old Heraldry shop has opened. Merlin's Marvelous Miscellany opened this past week. Most of the merchandise in this location is available elsewhere around the resort, except that some Peter Pan items that are usually just sold in the UK pavilion in Epcot. The details around this cozy shop are the real star here and are a must stop for any Sword in the Stone fans! – https://www.micechat.com/316633-abracadabra-merlins-marvelous-miscellany-opens-at-disneyland/ Disneyland continues to work on infrastructure for the nighttime entertainment in both parks. This week, a new canopy was installed over the top of the pits to the Fantasmic! fountains. What could this mean? MiceChat suggests that it could be new show elements being worked on or installed that will be part of the returning show. – https://www.micechat.com/316816-disneyland-update-bibbidi-bobbidi-kaboom/ With the changes coming to New Orleans Square soon, some other things are also disappearing. The two Ficus trees in the courtyard of Pirates of the Caribbean are being taken out due to disease. Hopefully new trees and their much needed shade are put back in some capacity for the queue. – https://www.micechat.com/316816-disneyland-update-bibbidi-bobbidi-kaboom/ We are already half way through March, which means that St. Patrick's Day is almost here! To celebrate, the Red Rose Taverne in Disneyland is offering “the Green Stuff,” which is a mint white chocolate mousse, chocolate make, and mint chocolate chips and chocolate cookie crumbs on a shortbread cookie. Corn Dog Castle in Disney California Adventure will offer their dogs coated in a green corn dog batter on March 17th only. Also only available on March 17th is the Strawberry Elderflower Whiskey at the Hollywood Lounge. Some other options around the resort are a Leprechan Cupcake at GCH Craftsman's Grill, and a St. Patrick's Day Whoopie Pie at the GCH Holiday Cart. For the full list, visit the link in our show notes. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2022/03/foodie-guide-to-st-patricks-day-2022-from-coast-to-coast/ March is Women's History Month, and the Disneyland Resort is celebrating in a number of ways. Minnie Mouse is the star of the celebration with the floral Minnie design that is currently taking the place of the standard floral Mickey in front of the train station. Downtown Disney is welcoming back Marcella Swett, who was the artist behind the Black History Month chalk drawings. to create drawings for Women's History Month. Her creations will be on display from March 15th through the 31st. Sprinkles in Downtown Disney will introduce their first Female Chef Series, starting with a Dark Chocolate Passion Fruit by Chef Brooke Williamson. A question came up asking about the current capacity and if it was back to 100%. McCarthy said they are not back to full capacity, but they are close. When asked if the capacity would go back to pre-covid levels, her answer was no. The way in which they manage the parks is different now. Disney is looking forward to bringing back nighttime entertainment as that will help with the crowds that are happening now. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/03/07/are-disney-parks-back-at-full-capacity-yet-an-executive-answers/ and https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/03/disney-may-never-return-to-former-capacity-to-avoid-parks-bursting-at-the-seams-says-executive/ The first Villains Nite is happening as we record this episode, with the second nite on March 10th.
