News: Beginning June 9, Disneyland Resort will officially eliminate its 11:00 AM park-hopping restriction, allowing guests to move freely between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure at any time of day. This major policy change applies to all visitors with Park Hopper tickets or Magic Key passes. Park reservations are still required and guests must select a starting park when booking, you no longer need to wait until late morning or physically tap into your reserved park before switching sides. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-entertainment/disneyland-park-hopping-any-time-date/ In anticipation of the upcoming theatrical release of Toy Story 5, the character have received some new wardrobe and accessory updates. Guests can now spot Woody sporting a bandana poncho, Buzz Lightyear carrying a shiny new star sticker, and Jessie wearing a sheriff's badge. These new details are designed to directly match the characters' appearance in the new film, which hits theaters on June 19, 2026. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/toy-story-5-disney-parks-character-updates/ For the first time since opening in 2019, Savi's Workshop is offering a limited-time experience called the Youngling Saber Building Expo – A Loth-Cat Crew Experience. Designed specifically for children aged 3 to 9 and their accompanying adults, this unique interactive session allows families to explore the inside of the usually high-cost venue and participate in a lightsaber-building adventure. While the experience itself is completely free, guests will have the option to purchase their custom-built lightsaber at the end of the workshop. – https://www.micechat.com/436183-disneyland-news-grogu-coco-emergency/ Alien Pizza Planet has updated its dining format, returning to a classic cafeteria-style operation. The restaurant has removed its standard mobile ordering option from the Disneyland app, meaning guests looking for individual slices, pasta, and salads must now walk up and order directly from the food stations. A new “Alien Pizza Planet Express” mobile option has been introduced, which is exclusively dedicated to ordering large, family-style whole pizza meals. – https://www.micechat.com/436183-disneyland-news-grogu-coco-emergency/ SnackChat: Trader Sam's celebrates 15 years – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/trader-sams-15th-anniversary-disneyland-new-food-and-drinks/ Discussion Topic: Teresa and Vern's trip report Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. We are using 2026 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Disney California Adventure. And while we did an overview of this park on that anniversary date, it is nearly summer and we've yet to go into the lands of the park. In the interim we took a big left turn to talk about Westcot, which was proposed long before the concept of Disney California Adventure was created. Now we take another left turn to talk about Port Disney and DisneySea, a project proposed at the same time for Long Beach. We will look at this project, why it was proposed, what it offered, and what became of its ideas--one of which eventually landed in Disney California Adventure. Oh, and there's the connection of Tokyo DisneySea-or not! Join us as we look at Port Disney and DisneySea. 865 · When Wishes Assemble: The Story of Disney and Make-A-Wish45 years. 175,000 wishes. One out of every two Make-A-Wish wishes granted in America is a Disney wish. The Disney Make-A-Wish partnership is about far more than theme park vacations. Every single hour, somewhere in the world, Disney helps grant a wish for a child battling a critical illness - creating moments of hope, joy, strength, and healing for families who need it most.In this very personal episode, Lou shares the extraordinary history of Disney and Make-A-Wish, from the very first Disneyland wish in 1981 to the incredible “Wishes Assemble” event at Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure, featuring Anthony Mackie, MrBeast, Mark Rober, Paul Bettany, and 40 remarkable children and their families.Along the way, he explores the emotional impact of wish granting, the medical research behind why wishes matter, and why this cause has become such an important part of the WDW Radio community for more than 20 years. You'll hear stories about wish kids meeting their heroes, Disney Cast Members who once received wishes themselves, and how the WDW Radio Dream Team Project has helped raise more than $550,000 to help grant wishes for children and families through Make-A-Wish.If you've ever wondered what Disney magic truly means, this episode may change the way you see it forever.
Send us Fan MailA villain whose superpower comes from cocaine. A character who fights by throwing dead dogs. A “hero” who exists mostly as an NFL marketing stunt. We start with a beer mimosa in hand and then stumble straight into the strange corner of comic book history where bad ideas somehow become canon. Along the way, we taste test a Disney California Adventure style beer mimosa, call out the price, and give you a simple beer mimosa recipe you can actually make at home with wheat beer, orange juice, and one optional upgrade that makes it way better. After the toast, we chase a bigger question: what makes a superhero power useful? We rewind to old-school nostalgia with the Wonder Twins and how their powers often feel like a workaround instead of a win, then stack up a list of real comic book characters that sound like parody. From Snowflame to Arm Fall-Off Boy to Matter-Eater Lad, we dig into why these characters are hilarious, uncomfortable, and weirdly memorable, plus what they say about the eras that created them. Then we do what comics do best: we invent new characters. Ours are intentionally useless, painfully specific, and built for laughs, like Captain Slight Breeze, The Negotiator, Lord Of Slightly Damp, Thermostat, Moisturizer, Spoiler, and Wi-Fight. If you love Marvel humor, comic book deep cuts, and the kind of creative riffing that turns everyday annoyances into “superpowers,” you'll have plenty to steal for your own group chat. Subscribe, share with a friend who loves comics, and leave a review, then tell us the worst superhero idea you can come up with.

News: A popular attraction in Disney California Adventure is moving towards extinction. Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sully to the Rescue! has had a permit filed with the city of Anaheim for demolition. In addition to the attraction, the Hollywood Lounge beverage stand is also included in the demolition permit. The timeline to start demolition is not until at least late 2027. - https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2026/04/19/confirmed-this-disney-ride-will-permanently-close-in-2027/ We are just about a week away from the timeline expanding at Star Wars Galaxy's Edge. On April 29th, Batuu will welcome original trilogy characters like Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solor, and Leia Organa. This has been a long time request from guests who want to interact with characters from across the trilogy in the Star Wars themed land. There is some criticism that the characters are not close enough to their appearance in the films, but we will have to wait and see. In addition, the area will have the classic music of John Williams playing from the movie score. - https://www.micechat.com/434704-disneyland-update-star-wars-land-glow-up-app-shake-up-toy-story-5-build-up/ https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/photos-dok-ondar-changes-april-2026/ In the latest update to the Disneyland app, there have been some good quality of life improvements. Under My Visit, the Tip Board has been renamed to Wait Times & Showtimes, and My Day has been renamed My Plans. These updated names better reflect what can be found in each section. MyDisney Wallet has been added to the account settings where you can add your credit or debit card for payments. There still is no option to add a gift card. - https://www.micechat.com/434704-disneyland-update-star-wars-land-glow-up-app-shake-up-toy-story-5-build-up/ With the Disneyland 70th celebration coming to a close this summer, there are some good discounts to be had. Many 70th anniversary items are marked down up to 50%, including some Loungefly bags. In addition, there are some new Duffy and Friends items that have arrived at the resort from Aulani. Pins, a button up shirt, and more are available. - https://www.micechat.com/434704-disneyland-update-star-wars-land-glow-up-app-shake-up-toy-story-5-build-up/ A classic attraction is retuning to the Disneyland Resort. The Skyway is coming back! Ok, only as a straw topper, but still! Starting April 22, guests can add this to their collections. We are behind in celebrating Disney California Adventure through its 25th year, and yet one cannot really talk about this park, without considering what was to have been created originally in its place. WestCOT may be the most popular park concept that Disney never built. A west-coast version of Epcot, this park was in many ways more ambitious than its neighbor across the promenade, Disneyland itself. We will look at this amazing design, as well as the entire proposal for what was originally intended to become The Disneyland Resort. We'll look at the whole of it, what it included, how it would impact Anaheim, and then consider what led ultimately to its fall. Join me on this fascinating look into a park led by Imagineer Tony Baxter and what could have created an entire Disneyland Resort than the one we know now. A last-minute flight deal turns into a full-on Disneyland stress test: two tiny kids, huge crowds, a rainy day at Disney California Adventure, and one missing “best friend” pillow that nearly breaks everyone's heart. Jarrett is back to share how his family tackled their first Disneyland trip after recently doing Disney World and a Disney cruise and what actually changes when you swap Orlando's giant bubble for Anaheim's compact, walkable resort. We talk through the real planning decisions parents care about, like whether park hopping is worth it with a five-year-old and a two-year-old, how rope drop can happen by accident, and why Lightning Lane can feel like a lifesaver and a headache at the same time. Jarrett breaks down what worked, what didn't, and what surprised them most, from navigating stroller pinch points and record-level crowds to chasing Star Wars thrills in Galaxy's Edge. Rise of the Resistance downtime, rider swap limitations, and height requirement surprises all make the trip feel messy, but the wins are big. There's also plenty of Disneyland and DCA detail for Disney trip planning nerds: ride highlights like Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway, Smugglers Run, Web Slingers, and kid-friendly coasters, plus food notes on better Disneyland churros, the breakfast Ronto Wrap, and a quirky popcorn bucket refill rule difference. Most importantly, we dig into the parenting side: toddlers melt down, do weird toddler things, and still walk away with memories that pop up months later. If you're planning Disneyland with young kids or comparing Disneyland vs Disney World, this one is for you.If you want to hear more about Jarrett's trip, go check out his blog post at https://jswordsmith.com/taking-toddlers-to-disneyland-the-real-story/.If you enjoyed the conversation, subscribe, share the episode with a Disney-loving friend, and leave a rating and review so more listeners can find us. There's been much discussion over the years about Disney's Intellectual Properties being the driver of choosing new attractions being built in the parks. And with recent openings like World of Frozen at the new Disney Adventure World there has been a lot of speculation that Disney is focused more on single IP offerings rather than "lands" as has been in the past. We study attractions previously built and those soon to come to see if "worlds" with single intellectual properties are the way of the future over lands. And then we note something we call Relations, which consist of Twins, Siblings and Orphans. We'll introduce these terms and how these relate to each other in terms of deciding what to build, where to build it, and the scale by which it is built. From this we'll identify what the most likely paths forward for Imagineering as it tries to build its future forward with the most options possible--particularly at Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney California Adventure and Disney's Adventure World. Join us for How Disney Lays Out Theme Parks: IPs, Lands, Worlds & Relations. Eric and Lauren unpack a wild week in the Disney parks, from the growing debate around live streamers and park etiquette to Disney's latest efforts to win back middle-class families. There will also be a life-sized Gnome Village and Fairy Garden with interactive areas. – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/bluey-at-disneyland-resort/ Magic Key Holders will have a new way to enjoy the resort with the Magic Key Road Trip pit stop scavenger hunt to celebrate Disney California Adventure's 25th anniversary. Key holders will pick up a special map at Kingswell Camera Shop on Buena Vista Street and use it to complete the hunt. After the hunt is completed, collect a prize later in April. Check the Magic Key Portal in the Disneyland App for all the details. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/california-adventure-25-scavenger-hunt/ Continuing this Road Trip theme, Magic Key holders will also want to keep an eye out in their mailboxes for a complimentary gift coming soon. So far, he has been a Jungle Cruise Skipper, a Disneyland Railroad Conductor, a Haunted Mansion cast member, and more. This time, he is taking guests on a journey through Storybook Land Canal Boats. This time, he doesn't know the script and snuck onto the boat to entertain guests. Check out the link in our show notes to watch all the chaos. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/gad-in-storybook-land/ The Disneyland Resort just held an event to celebrate cast members with service of 10 years or more. Jan Fleener and Richard Ruiz were in attendance, celebrating 55 years of service at the resort! The two were celebrated by being driven down the Performance Corridor in the Five and Dime classic car. Cast members are invited to these events starting at their 10th anniversary, then every 5 years of service after. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/disneyland-cast-service-celebration-2025/ Actress Jennifer Garner has a baby food brand called Once Upon a Farm that is now available for purchase at Disney California Adventure. Guests can pick some up at Fillmore's Taste-In in Cars Land. The food features cold-pressed pouches and plant-rich meals for babies, toddlers, and big kids. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/once-upon-a-farm-at-disney-california-adventure/ Two unfortunate events occurred at the Disneyland Resort this week. The first was a hazmat situation backstage near Star Tours that resulted in cast members being transported to the hospital out of caution. Nobody was seriously injured and it was limited to backstage. Anaheim Police were summoned to the resort in a Swatting Incident that claimed a mass shooting event at the resort. A swatting is where someone calls in a serious call to 911 that turns out to be a prank, even though police, and sometimes SWAT teams are sent. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/disneyland-swatting/ https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/disneyland-hazmat-incident-star-tours-backstage/ SnackChat: Bluey-themed bites – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/disney-eats-bluey-food-beverage-at-disneyland-resort/ Discussion Topic: History of Fireworks – https://www.micechat.com/335190-disneyland-fireworks-history-all-shows/ Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. It's hard for even the most devout Disney Apologist to forgive what was the original Disney's California Adventure. With a troubled budget from the start, and perhaps the wrong theme for millions of people already living in California, this failed on so many levels when it came out the gate. It certainly didn't help that it was being built across arguably the greatest park ever built. And yet in the shadows of Disneyland, there is really something magical about Disney California Adventure and with time and investment, it has come around to being the 5th most popular theme park in North America, behind Magic Kingdom, Disneyland, Epcot & Disney's Hollywood Studios, and yet ahead of Disney's Animal Kingdom, and every Universal Busch Gardens, Sea World and Six Flags park in the country. It's been a long 25 years, but with big new attractions coming, Disney California Adventure stands to compete in big ways moving forward. Listen to our memories, anecdotes, and a few rare sound bytes as we pay homage to Anaheim's second Disney gate. As a special bonus, we take a quick trip back to the 2013 PNW Mouse Meet to revisit a classic Mousetalgia interview with Imagineer Kevin Rafferty about his work developing Cars Land for DCA. All this - and much more!

Tuesday and Wednesday tickets will be open for Magic Key Holders. Disney Channel Nites will take place on April 12th, 14th, and 16th. Disneyland said in a statement that they are aware of the situation and are actively exploring next steps. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/atn-shutting-down-march-2026/ https://www.micechat.com/430670-disneyland-news-bus-shutdown-dca-25-anniversary-after-dark-dates/ In just a few days on February 8th, Disney California Adventure will turn 25! On this episode of The Case For with Chris Cox, Jim Hill convenes court in a flooded courtroom to debate one deceptively big question - which Disney park entrances actually work best. With Len Testa mysteriously missing in action, Jim and Chris take listeners on a globe-spanning tour of arrival sequences, retail corridors, and first impressions, from rope-drop chaos to architectural storytelling. Along the way, they explore how Imagineering intent sometimes collides with real-world park operations and why those first few minutes inside the gates matter more than you think. HIGHLIGHTS • Why Disney's park entrances function like the opening moments of a movie or stage show • The intentional slow reveal of Disney's Animal Kingdom and why it frustrates rope droppers • How Main Street U.S.A. sets expectations differently in Anaheim vs. Walt Disney World • Tokyo Disneyland's oversized walkways and the surprising impact of World Bazaar's glass roof • The evolution of Disney California Adventure's entrance from postcard concept to Buena Vista Street HOSTS • Jim Hill - IG: @JimHillMedia | X: @JimHillMedia | Website: JimHillMedia.com • Chris Cox - IG: @magiccox | X: @bigcox | Website: magiccox.com FOLLOW • Facebook: JimHillMediaNews • Instagram: JimHillMedia • TikTok: JimHillMedia SUPPORT Support the show and access bonus episodes and additional content at Patreon.com/JimHillMedia. News: This February, Disney California Adventure will turn 25! To celebrate this milestone, Magic Key holders can pick up a magnet set commemorating the event. This will be part of a “Fun and Sun” event area that offers nostalgic photo opportunities, encounters with “familiar friends,” and more. The event will take place in the Hyperion Theater Courtyard near Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout. Key holders will need to join a virtual queue in the Disneyland app to access the area. This will be available from 2pm to 8pm February 5th through February 15th. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/magic-key-disney-california-adventure-25th-event/ It is almost that time of year again when Disney California Adventure celebrates Lunar New Year! 2026 is the Year of the Horse, so Horace Horsecollar will be included in the festivities. Returning this year is all the Lunar New Year food, which we will cover in SnackChat, Mulan's Lunar New Year Procession, and Hurry Home – A Lunar New Year Celebration, which is a pre-show for Wold of Color – Happiness. – https://www.micechat.com/429670-disneyland-update-holiday-exit-shoulder-season-scramble-monorail-mishegoss/ https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/magic-key-lunar-new-year-2026-offerings/ On October 26, 1926, a very popular bear arrived on the scene to eat as much honey as possible. Winnie the Pooh was first published on that date, making 2026 the 100th anniversary. To celebrate, a number of merchandise items, ranging from clothing, to housewares, to accessories, and more are coming to the resort. One has already been installed in Disneyland and is easy for guests to take a look at. The outrigger canoe across the water from the loading dock for the Jungle Cruise was printed from the previous canoe that was in the location, along with photos from the 1960s as a reference. – https://www.micechat.com/429670-disneyland-update-holiday-exit-shoulder-season-scramble-monorail-mishegoss/ Cathy's Cookies, which had been in Downtown Disney in the past as a food truck, is getting a permanent kiosk. Guests can now scan the QR code on their parking ticket to pay through their mobile device. This should improve the traffic flow exiting from the parking area and through the parking booths. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/downtown-disney-parking-lot-updates-payment-options/ Last year, Disney+ and Hulu launched a perks program to encourage subscribing. For 2026, Disney+ subscribers can enter to win a vacation for four to Disneyland. The sidewalk that borders Pixar Pier and Disneyland Drive is closed to clear vegetation to make way for the attraction. Avengers Campus is also continuing to make progress, with more structural steel being installed. – https://www.micechat.com/429670-disneyland-update-holiday-exit-shoulder-season-scramble-monorail-mishegoss/ In the first of a couple of stories related to attractions having bad days, the Disneyland Monorail lost power on January 8th, which resulted in guests needing to be evacuated by the Anaheim Fire Department. The Anaheim Police Department said that about 60 guests were trapped in the attraction. Passengers were reportedly stuck from around 3:30 in the afternoon to 7 in the evening. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2026/01/08/60-people-evacuate-monorail-after-power-failure-in-disneyland/#more-1096887 Last Wednesday, another attraction was not operating at its best.
