In this episode, Tracey answers these three anonymous questions:I know women can have multiple orgasms but that never happens for me. Once I have one, any further stimulation feels too intense. How many women are actually are having multiple orgasms regularly? Is it a myth?I've been with my wife for 14 years and we enjoyed a healthy sex life. Over the past 18 months or so (during the various lockdowns) my wife has put on weight which has affected how attracted I am to her sexually i.e. I no longer wish to rip her clothes off and have passionate sex. Is it wrong of me to lose some of my sexual attraction towards her because of the weight gain? I don't know what the best thing is to do; not say anything or communicate to her how I truly feel (which I know she's going to immediately react defensively to)? Help!Do you have any advice for bisexuals who have struggled with their identity? I put off having sex because I struggled with whether I was straight or gay and wanted to wait until I figured myself out. Now I feel I'm behind in forming relationships and having sex compared to my friends and other young adults. I would really appreciate advice for non-straight sex as well. And offers her sex tip of the week!To have Tracey answer YOUR secret sex question, enter it anonymously on zibbyowens.com/sex.Want a copy of Tracey's book, Great Sex Starts at 50? The August Complex Fire burned more than one million acres across three national forests and destroyed hundreds of structures. But devastating fires are not limited to California. Across the West, more than 10 million acres burned in 2020—a record in modern history. These fires consumed more than 17,500 structures and more than $3.5 billion in firefighting costs. Tragically, dozens of lives were lost, and many more people were displaced by evacuation orders. Fires released smoke that degraded air quality nearby and hundreds of miles away. They also destroyed wildlife habitat, including for imperiled species, and the fires' aftereffects will soon lead to erosion that harms water quality in local watersheds. .

This week, Dan Neumann is joined by Justin Thatil and Mariano Oliveti, both AgileThought colleagues. They are addressing today a very important topic, which is how to successfully address individual behaviors that might threaten your team's performance.   In this episode, they dive deep into three efficiency killers: procrastination, avoidance, and delay, while providing strategies and ways to treat these individual behaviors to effectively achieve teams' goals and objectives.   Key Takeaways When individual behaviors impact team delivery You can't solve individual behaviors from a team's perspective. Disruptive individual behaviors can be procrastination, avoidance, and delay. Build to perfection can contribute to delays in delivery. How do you spot efficiency killers? A procrastinator might be someone who is very busy but not with meaningful tasks that will help to achieve the sprint goal. Does someone have difficulties sticking to a productivity system? The daily Scrum is a useful tool to spot disruptive behaviors. Make sure there is safety within the team to call on someone who is struggling. Which are the strategies to treat efficiency threateners? Identify the root cause. If your to-do list is too long, you can split it into the specific goals you want to accomplish in a day. Prioritization is key! Ask yourself: Is this something I need to do right away? Can it be automated? Do the hardest thing first. What happens when it is not clear what needs to be done or what the outcome is? Not starting to work until you have an exact idea of what needs to get done could be a trigger for procrastination. There are intermediate steps too; you do not have to look at the entire journey at once. How to seek continuous improvement? True conversations have to take place, especially when there is a failure in delivery. Inspect the process of the work on a continuous basis. Who can solve the problems that are being encountered? Assign responsibilities. Tackle the problems first. The whole team has to work together.   Mentioned in this Episode: Take the Stairs: 7 Steps to Achieving True Success, by Rory Vaden Learn more about Life Coaching vs Agile Coaching: “Coaching and Agile Coaching: Same Same or Different?” “Agile Coaching vs. Professional Coaching” “Are Agile Coaches Really Coaches?”   Want to Learn More or Get in Touch? My Business On Purpose
521: Six Questions to ask your team about Culture

My Business On Purpose

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 5, 2021 8:45

Scott touched on it and really hammered it home. Culture is NOT an Accident. It's fought for, cultivated, intentional, curated, and tangible.  About a year ago, we were looking to expand our coaching staff and I stuck my neck out for a buddy. He began the interview process, which is lengthy, sat in on some coaching calls and team meetings, went through our Vision Story and I'll never forget when he called me and said, “Y'alls culture is ridiculous. I can literally feel it when I'm on the phone with anyone at BoP.”  Now the point of that is not to brag on us. We do have a great team, but it's to say that culture should be felt by all who come in contact with you. It should be what you hear when you're standing in line at a restaurant and overhear someone mention your business. It's that feeling all your employees have when they step inside your building. And it's the feeling left for your clients after they work with you. Now, we've spoken about what Culture is a ton, but I want to clear up, before this next bit, what Culture is NOT. Culture is NOT: 100% 5-star reviews That's external. There are too many miserable people out there who go out of their way to nitpick every little thing and have nothing better to do with their days than tell the world about only getting two pumps of peppermint in their coffee instead of the 3 they ordered. You can't measure culture solely off of what reviews are. Culture is NOT: More vacation days   Yes, that's a part of it. Right, we rest AFTER we're exhausted. We take turns running and running and running until we hit empty and then foolishly try to figure out a way to get back to a full tank. In reality, we run from ½ a tank to Empty all day instead of being proactive and RUnning between full and ½ a tank. Culture is proactive! Culture is NOT: A finished product. It's not an arrival. There's no app that you can type in the destination and arrive. No, it's fluid. It's constantly shifting. As soon as a new project starts, you know what, you have to fight to protect it. As soon as a new client shows up, you have to lean on it.  But the moment you think you have arrived, you're one step away from the culture you worked so hard to build crumbling and falling apart.  So today... we're going to answer some questions internally. I'm going to ask you all to be honest. If you have a great culture? YES!!! Awesome, what are the little tweaks to make it better. If you have a crappy culture? Be honest. Forget people's birthdays? Work too many hours? Burn out your team? Are y'all angry at each other? Do you shout back and forth? Do you do the least amount of work possible? Do people sulk around when asked to help?  I don't know, but it starts with being honest. So let's have an open conversation. Before we dive into questions for you I want to highlight something we've built that I'd like for us all to build before the end of the year. We call it our Culture Calendar. EXPLAIN: We've realized that without writing it down, planning it out, and being highly intentional, our culture fails.  -Team Meetings -Retreats -Birthdays -Onboarding/continued learning calls -Vision days quarterly EVERYTHING WE FEEL WE NEED TO DO TO BUILD THE CULTURE WE WANT So what needs to go on your culture calendar. I'm going to go quickly through these questions. There's no way to digest all of these questions in the 10 min we have, so write them down and maybe use your team meetings to ask one question a week for 6 weeks. Tackle them together and build the culture you want to be a part of. I'll give you about 2 minutes to chat amongst your team, but come back to these questions, as we have, and figure out how to implement in your business!      1. What is our culture today?      2. How would our last 5 clients describe working with us??      3. What do we do year-round to ensure we're building a positive culture that people want to be a part of?                a. Again, look back at our content calendar…                b. Team Meetings, Retreats, Onboarding meetings, trainings, Production meetings, etc...      4. What else could we do?      5. Is there anything pulling us away or distracting us from the culture we want?      6. Is there another business culture out there we would like to be more like, what about it are we drawn to, who do we need to ask about it? These questions matter. They help build your culture into something you can be proud of. So take time with your team outside this meeting to dive in. I think you'll be glad a year from now when people are sticking around a long time and feel valued in being a part of your team.

We have heard the expression, “You can have it all.” This may seem like a bit of a hyperbole, but according to the Law of Attraction or the Law of Abundance, it is not too far from the truth. We may be quick to identify external challenges as the reason we have not reached our targets, but the real obstacle may be within. Discovering these obstacles and lifting them is a significant first step towards success as a solopreneur. What are the Laws of Attraction and Abundance? The Law of Attraction and the Law of Abundance are not identical, but they are related. The Law of Attraction states that people tend to attract results that are in keeping with their expectations. It includes the notion that we tend to attract positive people, for instance, if we have a positive attitude, and the inverse is also true, according to this theory. The Law of Abundance takes the principles of the Law of Attraction and applies them to concepts of wealth. The notion of the Law of Abundance is that there is enough money for everyone who wants to seek it. Not everyone is highly motivated to seek abundance, but people can become motivated by examining their way of thinking and removing inner limitations. The world faces a planetary emergency that requires considering all possible options to tackle it, said Johan Rockström, in a C2GTalk interview. Speaking just before the Climate Ambition Summit in December 2020, he said this was a critical moment to put the world on an irreversible path towards decarbonization, to ensure that any consideration of additional approaches—such as solar radiation modification—would not undermine that essential work. Johan Rockström is director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and Professor in Earth System Science at the University of Potsdam. Rockström is an internationally recognized scientist for his work on global sustainability issues. He spearheaded the internationally renowned team of scientists that developed the planetary boundaries framework, which are argued to be fundamental in maintaining a "safe operating space for humanity." Aside from his research helping to guide policy, he acts as an advisor to several governments and business networks, and at noteworthy international meetings, such as the United Nations General Assemblies, World Economic Forums, and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change conferences (UNFCCC). They also destroyed wildlife habitat, including for imperiled species, and the fires' aftereffects will soon lead to erosion that harms water quality in local watersheds. .

Text LEARNERS to 44222 for more... Full show notes at www.LearningLeader.com Twitter/IG: @RyanHawk12    https://twitter.com/RyanHawk12 Ryan Holiday is the best-selling author of more than 10 books including The Obstacle Is The Way, Ego Is The Enemy, and most recently, Courage Is Calling. He's sold millions of copies and his work impacts leaders all over the world. Notes: A philosophy of offense. General James Mattis was once asked by a tv reporter, “what keeps you up at night?” And he said, “I keep people up at night.” Captured his philosophy of offense (a bias for action… People who make it happen) Preparation makes you brave. —- the Army life handbook that was handed out to millions of soldiers in the Second World War. All about preparation. As Epictetus says the goal when we experience adversity is to be able to say, “this is what I've trained for, for this is my discipline.” Never question another man's courage. “It's very easy to judge. It's very hard to know.” Waste not a second questioning another man's courage. Put that scrutiny solely on your own. Be strong and of good courage. We hear in the book of Joshua. William Faulkner said  “be scared. You can't help that. But don't be afraid.” You can't spend all day in deliberation — the story of a Spartan king who was marching across Greece. As he entered each new country, he sent envoys to ask whether he should be prepared to treat them as friends or enemies. Most of the nations decided quickly and chose friendship. But one king wanted to think about his options. So he thought and thought and thought until it was chosen for him. “Let him consider it then,” the frustrated Spartan General said as he fixed his jaw. “Which we March on.” Even if you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice. You are voting to let them decide. The power of poise — in the year 175, Marcus Aurelius was betrayed by his general Avidius Cassius in an attempted coup. He could have been scared. He could have been furious. He could have exploded. But this would not happen. He said, “the nearer a man is to a calm mind, the closer he is to strength.” Ernest Shackleton — Arctic expedition got stuck in the ice. His motto —fortitudine vincimus — By endurance we conquer The courage to care — General Mattis said “cynicism is cowardice, it takes courage to care.” Only the brave believe, especially when everyone else is full of doubt. the story of Theodore Roosevelt the biographer Herman Hagedorn wrote “is the story of a small boy who read about great men and decided he wanted to be like them.” Ryan shared a personal story about his experience working for American Apparel and his relationship with founder/CEO, Dov Charney. He was asked to do something immoral and he declined... But, he didn't stop Dov from doing it. "It doesn't age well to just be scared in the moment. All that's left is what you didn't do." When you earn some power or develop a platform, how will you use it? When Lyndon Johnson became President, he said, "What the hell is the presidency for if not to do big things?" Consistency -- How does Ryan produce so much work (publishing lots of books) on a consistent basis? You have to show up every day. Tackle the smallest component part of the project for that day. Do what's in front of you. Why does Ryan work out every day? "I like to think, 'who's in charge?' I'm in charge." Excellence = All leaders are readers Curiosity is a must Desire for knowledge Self-discipline An element of service - it's not just about you How does Ryan define success? Autonomy. "The power of my own life, who I spend time with, and what I'm doing. I don't want to be a slave to the system."
