In this episode, Chris Cochrane guest-hosts for his brother Ray and devotes the whole show to one event: Disney’s D23 2026 fan convention in Anaheim. Friday night delivered Marvel’s new X-Men cast, Adam Driver as Mister Sinister, a fresh Avengers: Doomsday trailer, and a release date for Frozen 3. Saturday turned to the parks, with Villains Land, an Indiana Jones dark ride, the long-awaited Expedition Everest yeti repair, and a Monsters Inc land opening in 2027. – Want to start a podcast? Instead of six or eight unrelated stories, the entire episode covers Disney’s D23 convention, which he compares to Apple’s WWDC. For newcomers, he notes that D23 is Disney’s official fan club, named for the company’s founding year of 1923. This year’s event ran two nights at the Honda Center: Friday for movies and television, Saturday for the theme parks. Marvel Finally Casts the X-Men Friday’s headline was the X-Men. The Associated Press put the crowd near 12,000, and Marvel Studios used that stage to name its rebooted team. Christopher Abbott plays Professor Charles Xavier, Inde Navarrette plays Rogue, and Maya Boyd plays Storm. Adam Driver rounds out the group as the villain Mister Sinister. Meanwhile, Samara Weaving, Kit Connor, and Sadie Sink were already known as Emma Frost, Cyclops, and Jean Grey. Jake Schreier directs, and the film arrives May 5, 2028. Chris calls the lineup spot-on casting. He singles out Weaving as a perfect match for the comics, and he points out that Sink already appeared as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Navarrette is the least established name, coming off a breakout role in an indie horror film. Boyd, meanwhile, was the name he knew least, with what he believes is a Broadway background. Above all, Chris hopes Marvel does the team justice, and he recommends the animated revival X-Men ’97 on Disney+ as the best place to start. Frozen 3 Gets a Date and a Chaotic Reveal Frozen 3 lands November 24, 2027. That is the Wednesday of Thanksgiving week, the same slot the first two films used. The story centers on Anna and Kristoff’s wedding, which a new villain, an evil Ice Queen, disrupts. Jennifer Lee returns to direct with Trent Correy, and the full voice cast is back. However, the reveal itself fell apart. Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel performed a darker arrangement of “Frozen Heart.” Meanwhile, the audio failed, the video failed, and a set of doors never opened. Menzel asked the crowd whether they should try it again, and Bell simply narrated everything that was supposed to happen. Afterward, Josh Gad sang “Oooh, Samantha,” a new love song for Olaf. Chris is here for it, since Olaf is one of the franchise’s best comic characters. Pixar, Disney Animation, and the Rest of Friday Night Pixar chief Pete Docter laid out a packed slate. Incredibles 3 hits summer 2028 and follows Violet and Dash sneaking out at night to fight crime. Chris hopes that finally shows a grown-up Jack-Jack. Coco 2 follows in November 2029 with Benjamin Bratt returning as Ernesto de la Cruz. That has fans puzzling over how a villain already in the Land of the Dead comes back. Additionally, Pixar showed an original called Ghost Market and a Venice-set cat film called Gatto. On the Disney Animation side, Zootopia 3 is confirmed. The live-action Tangled arrives March 31, 2028 with Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel. Chris considers that casting perfect after her turn in Agatha All Along. A live-action Lilo & Stitch sequel, a new Simpsons movie, a Bluey movie, and a Kingdom Hearts anime series round out the list. For Star Wars fans, Ahsoka returns January 20, 2027. Chris also offers a hot take: he prefers Rogue One to the entire sequel trilogy. Consequently, he welcomes original stories like Ryan Gosling’s upcoming Starfighter. Adam Driver Is Mister Sinister Driver appeared by video rather than in person. He told the crowd that he and Kevin Feige had talked for years about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Then he announced he would play Magneto. After a long pause, he corrected himself to Nathaniel Milbury, which is Mister Sinister’s human alias. The gag landed because fans had floated Driver for Magneto for years. For anyone new to the comics, Chris explains that Mister Sinister is a geneticist obsessed with mutant DNA, a manipulator rather than a brawler. The cast met backstage only minutes earlier, so Chris is curious how their chemistry develops. Notably, Christopher Abbott previously worked with Driver on HBO’s Girls. The script comes from Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and The Bear co-showrunner Joanna Calo, two prestige-television names that have Chris excited. Why the X-Men Took Thirty Years to Reach the MCU A business story underlies the casting. In the 1990s, a financially struggling Marvel sold film rights to raise cash. Fox ended up with the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, and Sony took Spider-Man. As a result, Marvel Studios built its connected universe from 2008 onward without some of its most famous characters. The Hugh Jackman era of X-Men films belonged to Fox, with a separate continuity and no crossovers. That changed in 2019, when Disney closed its $71 billion purchase of 21st Century Fox’s film and television studio. Most coverage framed the deal as a streaming play, but it also brought the X-Men home. Chris sums it up neatly: Disney signed the paperwork in 2019, cast the film in 2026, and audiences see it in 2028. Ryan Gosling’s Starfighter, Ghost Rider, and VisionQuest Lucasfilm dated Star Wars: Starfighter for May 28, 2027. Gosling plays Kade Auberon, a pilot from the wrong side of the galaxy tied to the fastest starfighter ever built. Before he walked out, Disney played clips of him as a kid on The Mickey Mouse Club. Gosling said the company changed his life then and is changing it again now. He is also playing Ghost Rider in the Marvel universe. That thrills Chris, since Nicolas Cage last carried the character on the big screen. Meanwhile, the Disney+ series VisionQuest arrives October 14. Paul Bettany returns as Vision and James Spader as Ultron, and the trailer drops the two androids into oddly mundane human situations. Bettany joked that Vision has “rather inconveniently died several times.” Chris agrees the character has been through the wringer since WandaVision. The Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Avengers: Doomsday opens December 18, with Joe and Anthony Russo directing. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Hayley Atwell introduced the new footage. It offers the clearest look yet at Downey as Doctor Doom, who fights off Thor and takes his hammer. Evans appears as Captain America holding a baby, and Ian McKellen shows up as a haggard, long-haired Magneto. One quieter shot has Doom staring at a portrait of a lost wife and child. That frames him as a grieving avenger rather than a world-ender. He also commands an army of comic-accurate Sentinels. The cast pulls from the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and the legacy Fox X-Men, including Patrick Stewart. Hugh Jackman also appeared on screen to say he is willing to return as Wolverine, though that was not a confirmation. Chris, a self-described Marvel nerd, closes with a theory. He suspects the MCU’s Tony Stark was actually Victor von Doom, adopted by the Starks, which would explain the Downey casting. He also predicts the Fox-era X-Men die off in this film and that Thor may be the major casualty. If it happens, he wants credit for calling it. Disney Parks Around the World Saturday’s Disney Experiences showcase covered parks, resorts, and cruise ships, with Neil Patrick Harris hosting. Hong Kong Disneyland gets an Avengers pavilion that reshapes its Stark Expo skyline. Shanghai Disneyland is building the first land devoted entirely to Spider-Man, complete with a new coaster. Since Spider-Man is his favorite hero, Chris hopes to visit once it opens. Closer to home, Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure is doubling in size with two rides opening in 2028. Avengers: Infinity Defense brings back Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Chris Hemsworth, and Downey, while Stark Flight Lab adds Brie Larson. A Coco boat ride into the Land of the Dead is also coming, with no height requirement. Chris admits he prefers California Adventure to Disneyland because the rides are better. Overseas, Disneyland Paris will retire its Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain overlay at the end of 2027 and restore the original Jules Verne theme. Paris also gets the first ride ever based on The Lion King. Tokyo Disneyland adds Sugar Rush: Sweet Rescue, the first Wreck-It Ralph ride, plus a Space Mountain launch sequence designed with YouTuber Mark Rober. Finally, Disney Cruise Line announced three more ships, including the Disney Believe in 2027 and an entirely new class in 2029. Back in Anaheim, Tomorrowland is getting reimagined, which Chris welcomes because the land badly needs an update. The Magic Happens parade and the Remember Dreams Come True fireworks are both returning. For the tech crowd, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run now has a Fortnite crossover, where in-game missions unlock content on the real ride. Every New Walt Disney World Ride and Land Chris ranks the Florida parks Hollywood Studios first, then Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Magic Kingdom. Magic Kingdom leads the announcements with Villains Land, now the official name. It features a Maleficent coaster through an enchanted briar and a boat ride through the Evil Queen’s catacombs. Reporting puts its scale near Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and Glenn Close appeared in character as Cruella to announce it. Piston Peak, the Cars area replacing Tom Sawyer Island, adds two more rides, though their exact names remain unsettled. Additionally, the Carousel of Progress gets new scenes and a recast. Jamie Lee Curtis and Bryan Cranston will voice Mom and Dad starting late spring 2027. Chris, invoking Heisenberg, calls Cranston the GOAT. At Animal Kingdom, the Indiana Jones ride now has a name: Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent. It tells an original 1950 story inside a Maya temple, and Harrison Ford personally served as the physical model for the animatronic. Nearby, the Tropical Americas land brings Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto, with more than fifty animal animatronics and no height requirement. Then comes the fix park regulars have wanted for years. The Expedition Everest yeti broke soon after the ride opened. Rather than fix it, Disney lit it with a strobe for over a decade, earning the nickname disco yeti. Now it is being repaired and returned to full motion. Chris rates Everest among his top five rides anywhere, and he suggests riding it before the fix so you can compare. Over at Epcot, Spaceship Earth gets its first major story rewrite in nearly twenty years, shifting from communication history to human connection. Dreamfinder also returns to Journey Into Imagination, and Disney Experiences chairman Thomas Mazloum introduced that news with two words: “we heard you.” Mazloum added that Disney has more projects underway than at any point in its history. After this rundown, Chris believes him. Monsters Inc Land Opens in 2027 Monstropolis begins opening at Hollywood Studios in early 2027, but in stages. The headline door coaster will not be ready on day one. It is the first suspended coaster in any Disney park. It also uses Disney’s first vertical lift, hauling riders about forty feet straight up before launching them into the door vault. Instead, the land opens with the Glob Theater’s “Welcome to Monstropolis” show and Harryhausen’s, a working sushi restaurant lifted from the first film. The stage show features an original song by Randy Newman, his first ever written for a theme park attraction. Chris also notes that the restaurant name honors stop-motion legend Ray Harryhausen. Wrapping up, Chris names the X-Men casting and the Doomsday trailer as his favorite moments of the weekend. He hopes to cover more movie news on future shows, and he plugs Dune: Part Three, which also opens December 18. For many Australians trying to enter the property market, the promise of buying a home with just a 5% deposit sounds like a breakthrough.Government-backed schemes designed to support first home buyers have made headlines, but how much do they actually help buyers in practice? And what happens when thousands of buyers suddenly gain access to the same opportunity? In this episode, Veronica and Chris sit down with mortgage broker and National First Home Buyer Specialist Jack Elliott to unpack how first home buyer schemes actually work from the lending side. They explore the mechanics behind borrowing capacity, the role banks play in approving these loans, and the reality buyers face when trying to secure property in an increasingly competitive entry-level market. The conversation also dives into the unintended consequences of these policies. While schemes like the First Home Guarantee can lower the barrier to entry, they can also increase competition in the very markets first home buyers are targeting. As more buyers gain access to financing, the question becomes whether these policies truly improve affordability—or simply shift the dynamics of demand. If you're considering buying your first property or trying to understand how government incentives shape the market, this episode offers a grounded look at how these schemes operate in the real world—and what buyers need to know before stepping in.Episode Highlights00:34 — Meet Mortgage Broker Jack Elliott04:41 — How the First Home Guarantee Scheme Works06:36 — The Hidden Risks of 95% Home Loans12:48 — Buyer Rush and Rising Market Competition17:19 — Eligibility Rules First Buyers Must Understand19:39 — Planning for Long-Term Home Ownership24:51 — Price Caps and the Resale Ceiling Problem27:11 — How Bigger Deposits Change Buyer Strategy28:22 — When First Home Buyers Should Use a Buyers Agent32:05 — Why First Home Buyers Struggle to Enter the Market35:30 — Why Patience Matters in a Hot Property Market37:24 — Why Property Can Be Easier to Sell Than Buy42:49 — Who Should Consider Shared Equity Schemes47:09 — New Loan Products Buyers Should Watch49:05 — Policy Risks Around New Build Incentives54:06 — The Danger of Buying Property in a Rush55:13 — Final Advice for First Home BuyersAbout the GuestJack Elliott is a mortgage broker and National First Home Buyer Specialist who works directly with Australian home buyers navigating the lending process. ✦ Episode 063 opens with a breath of cold air and a slow‑burn glow, carried by the haunting lift of “The November Air (Intro Mix)” — a moment that feels like stepping into a memory you're not sure is yours. Jack-Jack leans into that emotional weight, letting the atmosphere stretch and shimmer before the pulse begins to rise. The early flow is patient but intentional, weaving through deep textures and warm melodic lines that set the tone for a journey built on tension, release, and that signature Dreamscape sense of drifting just above the world. ✦ As the mix unfolds, the energy tightens and the colors sharpen. The room shifts when “See The End (Avoure Remix)” hits — a euphoric, wide‑open moment that feels like the floor falling away beneath you. From there, Jack-Jack pushes deeper into the progressive current, letting the groove breathe while the melodies bloom. The nostalgia kicks in hard with “As The Rush Comes (Space Motion Remix)”, a modernized wave of emotion that hits with both familiarity and fresh electricity. It's the kind of moment that reminds you why these records still matter. ✦ The final stretch is where Episode 063 finds its full shape. “Air for Life (Dosem Remix)” surges in with cinematic force, lifting the mix into its brightest, most expansive space. And just when the energy feels like it can't stretch any further, “Counting Down The Days (Yotto Remix)” closes the journey with a soft, glowing exhale — hopeful, reflective, and unmistakably Dreamscape. We are meeting 13 times live in the month of January to give you the best chance of ditching the booze.   Recovery Elevator now has its own coffee created with Rise Up Coffee Co. 25% of each bag sold will be donated to the nonprofit Café RE.   January 1st, 2026 is the official release date for Paul's new book Dolce Vita.   [03:43] Thoughts from Paul:   Paul wants to do a check-in today. How are you doing at the end of 2025? How are you feeling after Thanksgiving and heading into Christmas? How are you feeling about yourself and your sobriety? This time of year can be a lot for many of us, but he wants to remind us all that we are not alone, even if you are listening to this podcast alone.   Our drinking problem likes to tell us that we are the only one in the world that has or has had struggles with alcohol, but that's simply not true. More than ever are struggling, more than ever are quitting and more than ever are putting down the drink. Addiction wants us to feel alone. The first step is to recognize this voice; the next step is to join the growing movement into alcohol-free living. You are a part of this movement.   [08:42] Paul introduces Jack:   Jack is 39 years old and lives in Phoenix, AZ. He works as a trial attorney and outside of work likes to help community organizations. In his free time, Jack enjoys playing music and spending time in nature.   Jack was adopted as a baby after his birth mother arrived in the US from Mexico. His parents were very supportive and loving of Jack, but they share different viewpoints from him.   Jack says he had his first experience with alcohol two years before his first drink at age 16. After an argument with his mother about going to a friends house, Jack had stormed into his room enraged. As he sat with his big emotions, he had the thought of "I need a drink" for the first time. His first actual drink came at high school graduation and he felt the desire to cut loose for the first time.   The drinking started as a weekend activity, but Jack says he really took to it. Drinking didn't make him tired; it energized him and took the stress away. Over the course of his college attendance, the weekend drinking with friends turned into daily drinking alone for Jack. He says he didn't feel normal unless he had a buzz.   For Jack, he always knew that eventually his drinking would become a problem. He says at one point it was his dream goal to survive through the week with normal drinking and then have a weekend where he could get a lot of alcohol and just spend time by himself getting wasted.   Given his career as public defender, Jack found himself frequently helping others with addiction issues but was hesitant to do anything about his own thinking he would get around to it eventually.   A year before his quit date, Jack says he entered recovery. There were some traumatic events that found Jack moving out of the house he shared with roommates due to a disagreement and breaking up with a girlfriend. He moved back into his childhood bedroom and for the first time realized he wasn't the victim in everything and had to take ownership of his part of things.   Jack decided it was time for change. He began doing the research, counting the days and celebrating the milestones. There were hiccups and Jack wants to remind those struggling that it is ok. We just keep trying and eventually we will get there. Jack says he identifies with the idea that in recovery we become better people than we were before.   Recovery Elevator You took the elevator down, you gotta take the stairs back up. Justin Bieber BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Justin Bieber has been making headlines this past week with a rare but buzzworthy combination of family life, pop culture throwbacks, and big-money business moves. Halloween 2025 was a classic Bieber affair as Justin, Hailey, and their one-year-old son Jack Blues Bieber stole the internet's heart with coordinated costumes inspired by Pixar's The Incredibles. Justin suited up as Mr Incredible, Hailey stunned as Elastigirl, and their son Jack Blues had everyone smiling as the adorable Jack-Jack. According to Netflix Junkie and repeated elsewhere by TMZ, social media went into overdrive when the Biebers posted family photos on X and Instagram, carefully maintaining Jack's privacy by keeping his face out of the spotlight while playing up the playful superhero theme. That costume reveal was only half the magic; Hailey's Instagram stories showed Jack Blues in a follow-up look as a mini version of Justin from his early YouTube years—the purple hoodie, white denim, it was a nostalgia bomb that had both new fans and diehards reminiscing about the pop icon's 2000s stardom. Us Weekly and ABS-CBN picked up the story and confirmed this cute nod to Justin's musical roots.Beyond Halloween, Bieber's business and personal life are still a media focus, especially after Hailey's huge payday: her beauty brand, rhode, was acquired by e.l.f. Beauty for $1 billion in late May. According to PEOPLE and AOL, those close to the Biebers say Justin is “beyond proud” of his wife's entrepreneurial leap, sharing her post and celebrating her new role as Chief Creative Officer. The magnitude of that deal means the Biebers are edging closer to billionaire status as a couple, though exact figures are hard to nail down.In other business news, rumors earlier this year swirled about Justin facing financial headaches linked to last year's tour cancellations and his decision to sell his music catalog for a reported $200 million. TMZ's documentary What Happened to Justin Bieber added fuel to the speculation, with claims that the sale was made under duress due to alleged financial strains, though Justin's representatives dismissed these reports as baseless clickbait. Amid this, Justin quietly separated from his now-iconic fashion line Drew House back in April, announcing via Instagram that he was no longer involved and teasing a new venture called SKYLRK, though he's kept details under wraps for now.On the social front, Justin and Hailey's Halloween antics were picked up by ThatGrapeJuice, adding them to lists with Janet Jackson, Alicia Keys, and Heidi Klum among the most dazzling Halloween appearances of 2025. There have been no confirmed hints of new music or major public appearances from Justin in the past week, but family moments and clever callbacks to his early career ensured that, once again, the Biebers dominated the pop culture conversation.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

Justin Bieber BioSnap a weekly updated Biography.Justin Bieber continues to command headlines with a string of personal and professional moves that blend pop superstardom, family life, and entrepreneurial grit. Over the past few days, he and Hailey Bieber have become the talk of Hollywood's Halloween scene, debuting as the ultimate “Incredibles” family together with their son Jack Blues Bieber. Justin slipped into the role of Mr. Incredible while Hailey wowed as Elastigirl, and little Jack Blues stole hearts as Jack-Jack, their coordinated red-and-black superhero looks igniting a storm of delighted reactions across Instagram and X. The Biebers' penchant for creativity didn't stop there: Hailey posted a second round of photos showing Jack dressed up in a retro tribute to his dad's YouTube-era style, complete with the purple hoodie and white jeans that once defined Justin's earliest fame, sparking nostalgia among millions of fans. Not content with dominating the festive circuit, Justin made headlines for his latest digital adventure, officially joining Twitch where he now promises nearly daily livestreams and candid content. His debut session showcased basketball games, pool challenges, and sneak peeks at a sprawling warehouse kitted out for creative work and family downtime, including a play area for Jack. Fans tuning in got direct updates on his preparations for Coachella 2026, with Justin hyping up his live show and relishing the chance to connect on a more personal level. Yet, some corners of the media have raised eyebrows about his mental health and new fascination with firearms. RadarOnline and similar outlets report that Justin has developed a strong interest in guns, spending considerable time at ranges and in the woods. Insiders suggest it helps him focus, while Hailey is supportive but gently worried, hoping he'll channel his energy into safer hobbies. The long-term biography may remember this year less for music than for Justin's seismic shift into business. CEO Today highlights his $300 million empire with the launch of SKYLRK, a minimalist streetwear line that sold out its first collection instantly and marks a matured aesthetic leap from his previous Drew House project. Bieber's approach is distinct: full creative control, innovative pop-up events, and direct-to-consumer strategies that reflect his evolving style and independence. Analysts say his brand signals an entrepreneurial revolution, positioning Justin among the world's most successful celebrity founders amid industry names like Rihanna and Kanye West. The Biebers' dual power is felt as Hailey's Rhode skincare climbs beauty industry ranks, making the pair prototypical influencer-entrepreneurs of this generation. Justin, who earlier sold his music catalog for a reported $200 million, continues diversifying—investing in eco-friendly fashion and technology startups—building a legacy with resilience and adaptability.Social media has buzzed about Bieber's family posts, Halloween creativity, and Twitch debut, but also the shifting focus of his public persona from pop idol to hands-on father and bold investor. Industry insiders expect these moves, especially the rapid scaling of SKYLRK and daily digital engagement, will shape his career's next era far more than any chart-topping single. As more details surface and collaborations are teased, it's clear Justin Bieber is writing a new chapter—one that blends spectacle, savvy, and substance in the ever-public eye.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

Case and Jmike are joined by Doug Lief (from the Nostalgium Arcanum podcast) to talk about a family that's pretty super, The Incredibles!   Overview   In Podcast episode 142 of Men of Steel, hosts Case Aiken and Jmike Folson, alongside guest Doug Lief, delve into a comprehensive analysis of Disney's The Incredibles through the lens of Superman fandom. They explore the film's connections to other superhero media, notably its references to 60s Batman and Fleischer Superman, while debating the film's overall tone, which Case describes as having an 'angry' directorial voice. The discussion emphasizes Mr. Incredible as a Superman analog, revealing how his secret identity as Bob Parr reflects an average man grappling with superhero responsibilities amid family dynamics. The team draws parallels between the family members' powers and their roles, likening the villain Syndrome to a failed fan archetype obsessed with eliminating exceptionalism. Additionally, they analyze the film's aging animation, contextualize its place in the superhero genre before the rise of the MCU, and celebrate its blend of action and relatable family themes. The episode culminates in discussing the film's unresolved questions about the necessity of superheroes in society, concluding that it adeptly balances the extraordinary with the everyday.   Notes ‍️ Introduction and Context (01:12 - 15:47) Case Aiken and Jmike Folson host the Men of Steel podcast with guest Doug Lief The discussion focuses on Disney's The Incredibles (2004) from a Superman fan perspective Doug mentions the movie's connections to Watchmen and other superhero media The hosts establish that the film is a love letter to superheroes with influences from 60s Batman, James Bond, and Fleischer Superman Case acknowledges he likes but doesn't love the movie, finding it has an 'angry' directorial voice ‍️ Mr. Incredible as Superman Analog (15:47 - 24:52) The group analyzes Mr. Incredible (Bob Parr) as a Superman analog Bob Parr's name means 'average' - perfect for a secret identity His job at an insurance company creates dramatic irony (helping after harm vs. preventing it) The hosts discuss Mr. Incredible's durability, strength, and physical capabilities The film explores the tension between superhero responsibility and family obligations The 'Bob Parr' identity has real value to him beyond just being a disguise ‍‍‍ Family Dynamics and Powers (24:52 - 39:20) The Incredibles compared to Fantastic Four but with a nuclear family structure Each family member's powers serve as metaphors for their roles: Elastigirl must 'bend over backwards' for her family Violet wants to be invisible/blend in as a teenager Dash wants to show off and stand out with his speed Holly Hunter praised for her performance as Elastigirl The married couple dynamic shows mature flirtation and partnership Sarah Vowell's performance as Violet highlighted despite not being a professional actress Syndrome as Villain (39:20 - 54:00) Syndrome analyzed as Jimmy Olsen gone evil or fan-turned-Lex Luthor His character represents fandom and mediocrity wanting to eliminate specialness Syndrome observes and counters heroes' weaknesses but fails to examine his own His fatal flaw is wearing a cape, which Edna Mode had warned against The group discusses connections to Alan Moore's works (Watchmen and Captain Britain) Syndrome's robot compared to the squid from Watchmen's ending Brad Bird reportedly denies Watchmen influence despite many parallels Jack-Jack and Supporting Characters (54:00 - 01:03:00) Jack-Jack has godlike powers (17 documented in the sequel) Compared to Franklin Richards from Fantastic Four Jack-Jack helps defeat Syndrome at the end of the film Edna Mode (voiced by Brad Bird) praised as an excellent character Her role as the Q-like gadget designer who incorporates fashion The group discusses superhero costume design elements Frozone and his 'Where's my super suit?' scene mentioned Animation and Film Context (01:03:00 - 01:16:40) The film's animation shows its age (from 2004) but holds up well due to stylization Technical limitations discussed (water effects, foliage, crowds) The hosts note the film predates the MCU (2008) and Nolan's Batman (2005) The Incredibles came at a transition point for superhero cinema The movie successfully balances superhero action with relatable family dynamics Character designs discussed (Mr. Incredible's face based on a Roman helmet) Final Battle and Themes (01:16:40 - 01:26:47) The Omnidroid battle showcases the family working together effectively Team power moves highlight each character's abilities and their coordination The question of 'do we need superheroes?' explored through the final battle Dash's athletic participation at the end (coming in second) compared to Superman hiding his abilities The film doesn't fully resolve questions about exceptional people's place in society The ending shows balance between superhero and ordinary life is beneficial Conclusions and Wrap-Up (01:26:47 - 01:38:04) The Underminer appearance sets up the sequel and references Mole Man from Fantastic Four The hosts appreciate the film's commentary on superhero tropes ('you caught me monologuing') The movie works well as both a superhero film and a family story Discussion about how the film has aged and its historical context in superhero cinema Podcast information and social media contacts shared Recommendation for Books that Burn podcast from the Certain POV network

Hey everyone, it's me again, Luci Dumas, and in this episode of The Profitable Photographer, I had the pleasure of chatting with architectural photographer Jack Zigon. We dug into the fascinating world of architectural photography and the business side of things that makes it all work. Let me tell you, it was such an insightful conversation, it almost made me want to start a new career/ specialty. He is a photographer based in Philadelphia who specializes in photographing architecture. One of his loves is capturing the built environment, and also has a passion for landscape and nature photography, and loves to use light and composition to create beautiful photos with that “wow” factor that makes your clients want to stop and stare. He has had an “illustrious career” working in sales, online marketing and photography for 30 years,In a previous life, as VP of Internet Marketing, he grew Comcast Business' online marketing division from $76 million/year to $1.6 billion annually, In other words…he is very smart and has had a lot of success before starting this new business. Here's what else we covered: • Real Estate vs. Portfolio Photography: While real estate photography can bring in a steady but moderate income, Jack explained how portfolio photography for architects is where the real long-term value is. • Marketing Strategies: Jack gave us a peek into how he markets his business using tools like LinkedIn, email newsletters, and even printed portfolios sent to hot prospects. • How Jack Approaches a Job: It all starts with learning the story behind the building from the architect.  • Starting in Architectural Photography: Thinking about diving in?
