Speaking at Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington, to mark the 250th anniversary of America's founding, Ben argues that the United States remains the greatest polity in human history: the most dynamic engine of prosperity, the most extraordinary military power, and the true empire of liberty the Founders envisioned. And yet large parts of both the Left and the horseshoe Right have embraced a corrosive blackpill: the claim that America is irredeemably corrupt, that individual agency is a myth, and that only tyranny can save us. The Founders knew better. They built this country on three non-negotiable foundations: Virtue. Freedom. Strength. Without those three, the American experiment collapses. The blackpillers on both sides are actively working to erase them. We cannot let them succeed. - - - Today's Sponsor: Helix Sleep - Go to https://helixsleep.com/ben for 27% off sitewide, exclusively for listeners of this show. - - - DailyWire+ Become a Daily Wire Member and watch all of our content ad-free: https://www.dailywire.com/subscribe

This week, we bounce from questionable kindergarten teaching techniques and a tour through old movies to a pile of upcoming sci-fi and superhero projects. Then, in Future or Now, AI gives hurricane forecasters a potentially huge advantage, NASA pulls off another bit of engineering wizardry to keep Voyager 2 alive, and the cast of The Pitt boldly goes where plenty of actors have gone before. Real Life Steven is officially over summer. Heat, summer schedules, summer in general—it's time to move on. Meanwhile, Ben has been watching OLD MOVIES, including Kindergarten Cop. Ben calls it an "exceptional film," but watching Arnold Schwarzenegger take control of a classroom in 2026 raises some questions. How would Detective John Kimble's teaching methods stack up against modern school employee safety training? How many policies would he violate before lunch? And perhaps most unsettling: just how old are all those kindergarteners today? That sends us down the inevitable road of examining an old movie through the lens of people who now have entirely too much experience with how schools actually operate. Steven also has a pile of upcoming genre television and movie news to talk about. Neuromancer is headed to Apple TV, while Blade Runner 2099 is coming as a limited series on Prime Video. San Diego Comic-Con also brought news about Ghost Rider and Black Panther 3, along with more X-Men casting news involving Cyclops, Emma Frost, Beast, and Professor X. Trailer Links: Neuromancer: Watch on YouTube Blade Runner 2099: Watch on YouTube Devon has been doing some family movie watching, working through the Jumanji movies and eventually arriving at Zathura. Technically part of the larger Jumanji family, Zathura doesn't quite live up to its predecessor. It doesn't help that Dax Shepard's character has to exist in the shadow of Robin Williams, which leads to the assessment that Shepard comes across as "a block of wood" by comparison. Things get considerably darker with The Long Walk, based on Stephen King's novel originally published under his Richard Bachman pseudonym. Devon found the adaptation interesting and well done—but extremely bleak. That conversation somehow takes a detour through Time Runner before eventually landing on Hokum and its supernatural layer. Future or Now AI Gets Better at Predicting Hurricanes Ben brings us a potentially enormous development in weather forecasting. Google DeepMind's WeatherNext AI system has demonstrated an ability to improve hurricane forecasts, potentially giving forecasters and emergency planners an additional day of warning. The system predicts both storm tracks and intensity and can rapidly generate thousands of possible scenarios. During Hurricane Melissa, it reportedly identified major intensification earlier than conventional forecasting models. That's potentially life-saving extra time for communities preparing for a major storm. But there's an interesting wrinkle: like many sophisticated AI systems, exactly how the model reaches some of its conclusions isn't always clear to the scientists using it. That makes WeatherNext another fascinating example of AI producing useful results while simultaneously raising questions about how much we need to understand a system before we're comfortable relying on it. And despite the improvement in modeling, humans aren't leaving the process. Meteorologists still have to interpret the information, communicate uncertainty, and turn forecasts into useful warnings for the public. Read the Ars Technica report on DeepMind's hurricane forecasting breakthrough This Week in Space: Voyager's "Big Bang" Nearly half a century after leaving Earth, Voyager 2 is still going, and NASA engineers are once again finding creative ways to keep it alive. In an operation nicknamed the "Big Bang," engineers simultaneously shut down power-hungry hardware and transitioned to lower-power alternatives while carefully keeping the spacecraft warm enough to survive. Voyager's dwindling power supply has forced NASA to make increasingly difficult decisions about which systems can remain operational, making every additional bit of usable energy precious. It's another remarkable chapter in a mission launched in 1977 that is still returning scientific data from interstellar space. Read more about the Voyager 2 operation at ScienceDaily Explore NASA's Voyager mission And while we're talking about space, we check back in on New Asgard and ask the important question: is Devon still going to space? The Pitt Goes to Star Trek Finally, there's an unusual crossover coming for fans of The Pitt and Star Trek. Noah Wyle and members of The Pitt cast are participating in a Star Trek table read benefiting the Writers Guild Foundation. It's not a new Trek series and it's not some bizarre medical-drama crossover episode—but it is an opportunity to hear a completely different cast tackle Star Trek material while supporting the foundation's programs. Read more about The Pitt cast's Star Trek table read at TrekMovie From aging action comedies to AI-powered hurricane forecasts and a spacecraft that refuses to die, this week is a reminder that the future has a funny way of colliding with the past. Join us next time for more science, sci-fi, and whatever unexpected detours we stumble into along the way.

Jason Momoa was the FIRST one to audition for GAME OF THRONES and the LAST one cast a year later. His cousin's impact on his life helped him make a strong choice that ultimately landed him the role. But it took him a few years and a couple of classes to trust his instinctive strong choices and learn how to "audition." BAYWATCH discovered him in his native home of Hawaii among a 1,300-person cattle call. Jason responded to a radio call announcing the audition that would pay him more than the daily rate of folding T-shirts at the family-owned surf shop. Jason's unique look has always made him a different choice, but also made opportunities few and far between. So Jason, with many of his close friends, formed the production company Pride of Gypsies, which has made Jason into an all-around filmmaker — writing, producing, directing and acting. Forever remembered for his unforgettable role as Drogo in Game of Thrones, Jason has since become a global star as Aquaman in the DC universe, Duncan Idaho in Dune, and the lead in Apple TV+'s See. He's also stepped further behind the camera, creating and starring in his passion project Chief of War, and appeared in A Minecraft Movie, The Fall Guy, and his travel/design series On the Roam. Send us Fan MailDO US PART: The Rom-Com Isn't Dead — Reed Arnold Just Proved ItFor decades, the romantic comedy was one of Hollywood's most dependable—and beloved—genres. Then streaming changed the theatrical landscape, horror took over the multiplex, and the mid-budget rom-com seemingly disappeared.Enter Reed Arnold. In this episode of The Fixate & Binge Podcast, Joe Curdy sits down with Arnold—the writer, director, and star of DO US PART, his impressive feature-film debut—to talk about bringing a genuinely funny, heartfelt romantic comedy back to the big screen.Set against the increasingly chaotic backdrop of a countryside wedding, DO US PART follows a best man desperately trying to keep a celebration from completely unraveling when buried feelings, complicated friendships, and one very unexpected confession threaten to derail everything. But beneath the laughs is something much more meaningful: a story about unrequited love, enduring friendship, sacrifice, and the painful question of what might have been.Joe recently gave DO US PART a 4.5/5-star review, calling it “a breath of fresh air” and a welcome reminder that the theatrical rom-com “hasn't lost its mojo—Hollywood has simply forgotten how much we still need it.”In this wide-ranging conversation, Reed talks about writing, directing, and starring in his debut feature; the origins of DO US PART; translating the story from stage to screen; creating authentic chemistry between his three leads; balancing escalating comedy with genuine emotional stakes; and why romantic comedies still matter.DO US PART is currently playing in select theaters and arrives on Apple TV on August 14, 2026.If you've been waiting for Hollywood to remember how to make you laugh, fall in love, and maybe even shed a tear along the way, this episode—and this movie—are for you.Thank you for listening! Episode 254 opens in person at the shore on National Spoil Your Dog Day with Bucky. Before diving into recent travels, Erin and Mike preview their upcoming trip to LA for the Tinter Battles window tinting championships, where they secured media passes, and plan to interview the CEO. Erin then breaks down her whirlwind coast-to-coast trip to LA, which started with her binging all three seasons of Ted Lasso after discovering the hit Apple TV series originally evolved from a three minute Premier League commercial created by an ad agency. After enjoying United's Polaris Lounge and flying first class to LA, Erin was picked up by a chauffeur who misplaced his debit card, forgot where his car was parked, and accidentally drove to the wrong Marriott. Erin made her way trinketless to the LA Sparks WNBA courtside game held to promote Ted Lasso Season 4, where 7,000 replica "Believe" signs were handed out, and she met up with creators including Molly Markle and the Bellairs (who dressed in full Ted Lasso costumes). Before the game, Erin hit it off with a woman who turned out to be the global head of Adidas Basketball, explored the VIP courtside lounge and its marble bathrooms featuring mahogany "wet floor" signs, cried during a retired player's jersey ceremony, and accidentally caused a brief panic when she tried to dribble a ball on the court. After FaceTiming Mike and Sam from the court, Erin later spotted actor Jeremy Swift (who plays Leslie on Ted Lasso) at the airport lounge on her flight home. To close out the episode, Mike and Erin share a wholesome "No Bad, No Sad" story about NFL star JJ Watt. After a fan tweeted about being too shy to ask JJ Watt for a photo when they ate breakfast near each other in NYC, Watt saw the tweet, asked where the fan was hanging out, showed up at O'Hara's bar, and joined him for a Guinness.

For years, Dale Dickey has been one of Hollywood's most reliable scene stealers, bringing unforgettable grit, humor, and humanity to acclaimed films and television series, including 'Winter's Bone,' 'Breaking Bad,' 'Justified,' 'True Blood,' 'Unbelievable', and 'A League of Their Own.' Her career has now reached a new milestone with her first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.Recognizing her performance as the hilariously deadpan town gossip Rosemary and Apple TV plus's breakout comedy horror sensation 'Widow's Bay.' The series has emerged as one of TV's biggest hits, earning 19 Emmy nominations, while Dickie's dry wit and impeccable timing have made Rosemary an audience favorite. This morning we get to talk to Dale Dickey about a career built on unforgettable character roles, including this one.
I've officially found my unlikely, egg-freezing sister in AOC, and somehow that led me to Matt Walsh's Quaker Oats morality, relating to the show Beef's Gen Z (I know), holding hands with Hollywood (ft. Apple TV interview), and the swatting of the hive mind. My thesis tonight: maybe the most radical thing left is seeing the humanity in people who are supposed to be your arch enemy.
