IT SEEMS odd to us, looking back across more than 2,800 years of history, that Elijah would run from Jezebel right after seeing what God had done on Mount Carmel. Well, it's easy to criticize. It's likely none of us would have done better in Elijah's place. We discuss how he was ministered to by the Angel of the Lord, the preincarnate Christ, while on the way to Horeb (Mount Sinai), and how God revealed Himself to Elijah in a way that was less than spectacular—especially after sending winds that tore the mountain, an earthquake, and fire. In the same way, we often expect God to show Himself to us in earth-shattering ways and miss the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit. But while it's easy to criticize Elijah, we have to point out that Ahab, who likewise saw the miracle on Mount Carmel and miraculous victories over the Aramean armies of Syria still failed to follow the Lord's command—a mistake that ultimately meant the end of his kingdom. A YOUNG British woman is in a Sri Lankan jail, accused of trying to smuggle a disturbing new drug called kush into the country.   Kush comes from West Africa, where it's reportedly the cause of about a dozen overdose deaths a week in Sierra Leone. It's made of synthetic cannabis, opioids—and, reportedly, ground human bone. The accused woman, 21-year-old Charlotte May of South London, was stopped at the airport in Colombo, Sri Lanka with 100 pounds of kush in her luggage with a street value of about $3.3 million. May claims she doesn't know how it got into her bags. We make no judgment on Ms. May; it's possible she was an unwitting drug mule. What's disturbing about this story is that human bones are reportedly incorporated into this drug, and that it's apparently being shipped around the world. We also discuss a recent case from South Africa, where a woman and two accomplices were sentenced to life in prison this week for selling her then-6-year-old daughter for $1,100 last year to a traditional healer who wanted to harvest the girl's skin and eyes—green, a relative rarity in South Africa—for ritual purposes. The world is returning to pre-Christian paganism at the same time it's drawing closer to World War 3. Early this week, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz declared that the US, UK, and Germany has removed all restrictions on how weapons supplied to Ukraine can be used in NATO's proxy war with Russia. This has not been confirmed by the United States or United Kingdom, and even Germany's own Defense Ministry has not confirmed the change in how its missiles can be used. However, it seems that Europe's Big Three—Germany, France, and the UK—are bound and determined to provoke open war with Russia, and top drag the United States into it whether the American people want it or not.  In our view, this is the work of principalities and powers behind the scenes trying to set the stage for the emergence of a false savior, the Antichrist. THE REBEL WATCHERS of the Book of 1 Enoch were described as “burning mountains” in a chasm so vast there was no end to the height or the depth. These were identified by the archangel Uriel as “the angels who mingled with the women,” who will remain there until the final judgment. This is consistent with the description of the sinful angels who are “kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day” (Jude 6). We discuss other biblical references to angels as mountains and “stones of fire,” as in Ezekiel 28:14. The father-god of Mesopotamia, called Enlil, Dagan (Dagon), Assur, and El depending on location, was called “Great Mountain,” and his temples in Babylon and Assyria were called “House of the Mountain.” We think this is the “great mountain” in Zechariah 4:7, and the custom of calling angels burning mountains suggests that the “great mountain, burning with fire,” the second trumpet judgment of Revelation 8:8, is an angelic being, not a space rock. The other fascinating aspect of Enoch's journey to the west and north is that he reached these spirits after crossing the Great Sea. While that's probably a reference to the Mediterranean, it also suggests that the burning mountains were the Watchers who rebelled and compelled God to banish them to the Abyss when He sent the Flood of Noah.
