Completano il mese The End of Oak Street, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia 18, Insidious: Fuori Dall'Altrove, La Vendetta Perfetta: Bear Country, Dark Matter 2 e The Whisper Man con Adam Scott e Robert De Niro. Sedici titoli selezionati, tra grandi ritorni, possibili sorprese, film già bocciati in partenza e almeno un'opera che dovete assolutamente vedere. (00:00) Primo posto su Apple Podcast! Award-winning director, cinematographer and producer Taylor Washington joins Heather Kofka and John Williams to discuss the winding, collaborative and often unpredictable road toward building a sustainable life in filmmaking.Taylor takes us behind the scenes of Grind, the SXSW horror satire anthology that transforms the anxieties of modern work culture into four increasingly unhinged stories. He breaks down how multiple cinematographers created distinct visual languages while keeping the film inside one cohesive world, how the production built ambitious practical effects with limited resources, and what it takes to shoot what feels like four miniature features on an independent schedule. The conversation traces Taylor's journey from growing up outside Houston and making videos out of boredom, to studying film at UT Austin, directing more than 50 music videos, launching Pan Up Productions and working with brands including Canon, Netflix, Amazon, Apple TV and Southwest Airlines. He also discusses his creative partnership with Haley Alea Erickson, the evolution of their SXSW short Call Me Mommy into a feature, and why repeatedly making small projects helped them discover their voice before attempting something larger.Taylor also opens up about wearing multiple hats, surviving the uncertainty of freelance work, building a production company, finding collaborators through film festivals and learning when to protect his time. The episode moves beyond career strategy into a deeper conversation about physical filmmaking, artificial intelligence and whether something essential is lost when the creative process becomes frictionless. For filmmakers waiting for the perfect budget, team or opportunity, Taylor's story offers a quieter challenge: start making things, learn who you are through the work and build the tracks while the train is already moving.
John Fraser: Grayscale Morality, Darkroom Nostalgia, and 'Choir Girl'On today's episode of Salt Lake Dirt, Kyler chats with Australian writer and director John Fraser about his feature film, Choir Girl. John shares the long road to bringing the project to life, tracing its origin from an Australian song lyric to a gritty, black-and-white noir set in the world of analog photography. The two discuss the tactile nostalgia of darkrooms, navigating rejection in independent filmmaking, and exploring urban decay through morally complex characters. John also breaks down the influences behind the film, comparing its atmospheric tone and themes to classics like Taxi Driver and Joker. Great film, great chat. After 200 years of idolatry, God finally allowed the northern kingdom of Israel to be destroyed and the people carried off by Assyria. Meanwhile, the southern kingdom of Judah was being ruled the young, foolish, idolatrous King Ahaz. After being defeated in battle by the Aramean Kingdom of Damascus, Ahaz decided to worship the gods of Syria rather than turning to God for help. He also sacrificed his son to Molech in the Valley of Hinnom southwest of Jerusalem. Then he turned to the Assyrians for help against Israel, Syria, and Edom, cutting up fixtures in the Temple to send to Assyria as tribute. Needless to say, God was not pleased. Apparently, neither were the people of Judah. Ahaz was buried in the City of David rather than in the tombs of the kings of his forefathers. After an almost two-year hiatus (can't quite remember why now), Amblin returns with the first film released after we started this podcast: Miguel Sapochnik's 2021 streaming title FINCH. It was a strange decision for this production house to acquire the character rights to the Slough-based sales rep played by Ralph Ineson in ‘The Office', but– Oh, hang on, wrong Finch. This one is played by Tom Hanks and is attempting to navigate the post-apocalyptic US so that his robot pal Jeff (Caleb Landry-Jones) can look after his dog Goodyear (Seamus) when he's gone. Together we talk about the welcome note of hope this movie brings to the dystopian sci-fi genre, the wonderful visual effects work involved and the AppleTV+ of it all. THE WORST outbreak of Ebola in history is underway in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Many will respond to that news with skepticism given the way we were propagandized during the COVID outbreak five years ago. But facts are facts: Nearly 1600 people have died thus far in the outbreak and it's spreading much faster than the 2014 outbreak in West Africa. The infection fatality rate is upwards of 40%. By comparison, COVID only had an IFR of about 0.2%. In addition, this particular strain of Ebola has an incubation period of up to three weeks. That means somebody who appears to be well could conceivably travel on an international flight and bring the virus to another continent. So, fear mongering in this case is probably justified. Speaking of fear, a robotics company called Satyress has announced a new robot that looks like a giant metallic praying mantis with the head of a goat. It is ostensibly intended for jobs too dangerous for humans, like search and rescue missions after a natural disaster. However, it looks like Baphomet with an extra set of legs. That begs the question: What in the world were the designers thinking? We also discuss the invasion of the Spanish enclave of Ceuta by 60,000 military age men from Morocco. This is a very bad look for the pro-immigration leaders of the European Union and progressive Democrats here in the United States. Video from Ceuta showing young Moroccan men looting stores, breaking into homes, and attacking Spanish citizens is like something from a horror film. Also: Mayor Mamdani promises his city-run grocery stores will sell groceries at 30% below average cost elsewhere. That math don't math. Titans On Tomorrow Ep. 1 with guest Anson Frericks Presented by Ethos: https://ethos.com/titans In a new show on business and finance at this transformative time for the global economy, Ben Shapiro talks directly with the founders, CEOs, and investors building the next decade. Anson Frericks spent 11 years climbing to the top of Anheuser-Busch, becoming President of Sales and Distribution. He watched in horror as the company he loved traded its relationship with customers for an elitist stakeholder capitalism scorecard. Anson saw the Bud Light collapse coming before it cost the company $30 billion in market value, writing the definitive account of it in his bestseller Last Call for Bud Light. Ben and Anson break down: • What really happened inside Anheuser-Busch before the Dylan Mulvaney fiasco • Why BlackRock, State Street, and Vanguard have outsized power over corporate America, and how Strive is fighting back • Whether corporate neutrality is enough, or if conservatives need to push harder • Why he left the culture wars behind to build an AI company tackling serious mental illness • What's next as AI, biotech, and capital markets reshape the American economy - - - Today's Sponsors: Ethos - Protect your family with life insurance from Ethos. New federal data show the U.S. economy slowed sharply in the second quarter of 2026, falling well below expectations and undercutting the Trump administration’s economic promises. Michigan voters head to the polls Tuesday in a closely watched Democratic U.S. Senate primary. Roland speaks with Dr. Abdul El-Sayed about his campaign and why he believes he should represent Michigan in Washington. A new report from Virginia State University details the persistent economic disparities facing Black men and boys in education, employment and household wealth. Dr. Wes Bellamy joins us to break down the findings. And new audio from the emergency call made by Nolan Wells’ friends is raising more questions about what happened before the 18-year-old disappeared and died. Civil rights attorney Ben Crump and Nolan’s parents provide the latest on the investigation.
