We're joined by Stefanie Powers for a layered conversation that spans Hollywood's golden-era traditions, cultural change, and a life shaped by both stardom and purpose. For those in the Los Angeles area, Stefanie, with co-star Patrick Wayne, will be performing 'Love Letters' at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood as a benefit for the William Holden Wildlife Foundation on January 11, 2026!Stefanie reflects on growing up alongside future screen legends at Hollywood High School, and how her lifelong love of animals began at home, thanks to a stepfather who raised thoroughbreds and kept exotic animals. Her first professional job came at age 15 when she was cast in the film West Side Story, where the young cast prepared by listening to recordings of real New York street kids to capture authentic rhythms and speech patterns. However, Stefanie's tender age required too many work time restrictions as the production's intensity ramped up and her part was re-cast. She describes old school studio system rigors, where actors “sold their lives” for a seven-year contract. Restrictive, yes, but also an entertainment education that taught singing, dancing, acting, and stage presence, alongside publicity essentials.Still under contract with Columbia, she was loaned out to United Artists to make McLintock! and Stefanie shares memories of working with John, Michael and Patrick Wayne. The legendary show biz tales are boundless. Did you know that Natalie Wood, Jill St. John and Stephanie were all in the same childhood dance class? All would, one way or another, be married to Robert Wagner. And, true story: During a painful divorce, Stefanie was offered solace at Roddy McDowell's house by fellow travelers, Elizabeth Taylor and Ava Gardner. She also recounts the party at Dean Martin's home where she danced the night away with Bobby Kennedy Sr. as he encouraged her to use her Spanish language skills to become more civically involved with Latino communities here at home. She also speaks candidly about her complex romantic relationship with William Holden, whose influence on her life is ongoing. In his name, she has created The William Holden Wildlife Foundation in Kenya where local youth learn biodiversity, species conservation and alternatives to habitat destruction for humans and wildlife. And of course, we talk Hart To Hart where Stefanie starred with Robert Wagner. She was actually on her way to Broadway when a newspaper strike halted her production of Cyrano, and freed her to take a pilot that would change her life!In current media --Fritz: (joined by his daughter Carly!) The discussion begins with a deep dive into Apple Vision Pro, focusing on whether the new M5 model is a worthwhile upgrade, who it's really for, and whether Vision Pro should be viewed as a finished product, an emerging platform, or a preview of Apple's long-term spatial computing vision. The panel explores developer adoption, enterprise use cases, and why meaningful spatial productivity apps may take years to fully materialize.   The conversation then shifts to software, including impressions of the iOS 26.3 beta, particularly changes driven by EU regulations and continued refinements across Apple's platforms. Attention turns to the iPhone 17 lineup, where incremental updates, battery life improvements, camera enhancements, USB-C workflows, and vapor cooling spark debate about whether upgrading is worth it year over year.   From there, the panel revisits the ongoing question of whether the iPad can truly replace a laptop, acknowledging its powerful hardware while noting ongoing limitations in iPadOS. The discussion continues with Apple's Mac lineup, highlighting macOS Tahoe as the final release to support Intel Macs and reflecting on how Apple Silicon has reshaped performance, battery life, and upgrade cycles.   Security also enters the spotlight with a discussion on a recent malware case that bypassed macOS Gatekeeper, reinforcing the importance of user awareness despite Apple's protections. The episode wraps with a lighter but thoughtful look at ChatGPT's new year-end summary feature, comparing it to services like Spotify Wrapped and reflecting on how AI tools are becoming increasingly personal in daily workflows.   The episode closes with final thoughts on Apple's 2025 trajectory, community engagement, and what lies ahead as the calendar turns toward 2026.   Topics and Links As 2025 comes to a close we review what happened this year with Apple and technology.  In Touch With Vision Pro this week.  Lets review Vision Pro in 2025 M5 version was released and dual knit head band was this a big upgrade?  Big Picture At the end of 2025, is Vision Pro a product, a platform, or a preview of what's next? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Episode 196 - Testimony Series: From Rejection to Redemption - with Alex Mounir This episode is part of our December Testimony Series. Alex Mounir shares his heartfelt journey of balancing his newfound faith with his acting career. After giving his life to Jesus in April of last year, Alex has been actively praying for his talents to be used for God's kingdom rather than just for secular entertainment. With a disheartening rejection from a faith-based show where he auditioned eight times without success, Alex almost gave up on acting. He narrates how his prayers were answered in unexpected ways and he received a last-minute opportunity to star in a film, as the exact same character he had wanted to play so badly in the other show . Alex emphasizes the importance of using one's talents for Jesus and prioritizing faith over career.Bio: Alex Mounir is a rising screen actor boldly making his mark in faith-based film. He stars as Jacob in the upcoming feature Jacob and Rachel, set to release on Apple TV and Prime Video. Known for his emotional depth and natural on-screen presence, Alex brings a raw, heartfelt authenticity to every role he steps into. Beyond acting, his mission is clear: to honor Jesus with his craft and tell stories that move people toward truth, hope, and redemption. With passion, purpose, and an unshakable love for the Lord, Alex is just getting started.https://www.alexmounir.com/https://www.instagram.com/alex.mounir/FAFF Association Online Meetups: https://faffassociation.com/#faff-meetingsVIP Producers Mentorship Program https://www.faffassociation.com/vip-producers-mentorship Jaclyn's Book - In the Beginning, Middle and End: A Screenwriter's Observations of LIfe, Character, and God: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D9R7XS9VThe Faith & Family Filmmakers podcast helps filmmakers who share a Christian worldview stay in touch, informed, and inspired. Now, Carol and the smallest fraction of the human race must decide if they will join forces to defeat their foes or simply give in and join the new collective. In this 1on1, we speak to star Rhea Seehorn about what Carol really wants and the joy of 'surprise'.CAUTION: Interview contains spoilers for episode 8 of PLURIBUS.PLURIBUS is now streaming on Apple TV+.

Karen, Lou, and Jesse dive into the season one finale of Pluribus,  We unpack: •     A village completely silenced — because nothing says "season finale" like an entire town hitting the mute button. •     A baby goat — seriously, what is it with Apple TV and goats? Is there a secret goat sponsorship we don't know about •     A romantic getaway — reading by the pool, skiing and sipping hot butter rum near the fireplace. •     A broken heart — because you can't live in a fantasy, no matter how perfect it seems.  •     And a bomb of an ending — literally, figuratively, emotionally… pick your flavor. It's dramatic, it's chaotic, and it's exactly the kind of finale that makes you yell at your TV and immediately text your friends.

Koalas with the bodies of lions. Elephants the size of your dog. Gigantic, 8-foot-tall sloths. These aren't creatures found in science fiction: They walked our planet a million years ago, during the Ice Age.That's the focus of the third season of the Apple TV series “Prehistoric Planet,” which uses the latest paleontology research and photorealistic CGI to reimagine the lives of ancient creatures. So far, the series has focused on dinosaurs, but now it's taking that same approach to the huge and strange-looking animals that roamed the tundras and deserts of the Ice Age.Joining Host Ira Flatow to thaw out the new research featured in the show are two of its scientific consultants, paleontologist Darren Naish and La Brea Tar Pits curator Emily Lindsey.Guests: Dr. Darren Naish is a paleozoologist and author based in Southampton, U.K.Dr. Emily Lindsey is a paleoecologist, curator, and excavation site director at the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum in Los Angeles, California. Transcript available at sciencefriday.com. Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas! We kick off this festive episode by debuting our Christmas sweaters and battling some technical difficulties with a new microphone that may or may not sound like a tin can... you let us know. We discuss the overwhelming stress of the season, the joy of receiving fancy hot chocolate from London, and why Erin refuses to drink eggnog. What even is it? We also get a major update on Dan, who has taken his obsession to a new level by building a luxury habitat for a toad living in the garage, complete with a moss dome, a pool, and a working miniature lamp post.We then transition into a "Holiday Survival Guide," offering our best tips for enduring awkward parties, which mostly involves "dissociating," holding a phone as a shield, and finding an extrovert to cling to. We debate whether "The Grinch" is a name, a job title, or an ethnicity, and vent our frustrations about Apple TV holding A Charlie Brown Christmas hostage. Finally, we react to the terrifying Austrian tradition of Krampus runs (where people get whipped by demons), listen to a spam voicemail live on the air, and discuss the statistic that 1 in 4 Americans plan their entire Christmas Day around watching sports.

The University of Hawaiʻi football team's postseason return took center stage on the latest episode of Hawaii Football Final, as KHON2 Sports Director Rob DeMello was joined by ESPN Honolulu and KHON2 analyst John Veneri to break down the Rainbow Warriors' upcoming Sheraton Hawaii Bowl matchup and the major storylines surrounding the program.Hawaiʻi is set to make its 15th bowl game appearance in program history when it faces California on Christmas Eve. The matchup brings added intrigue, as Cal will be led by interim head coach Nick Rolovich, who returns to the islands to face his former University of Hawaiʻi teammate and current Rainbow Warriors head coach Timmy Chang.Chang, recently named an AFCA Regional Coach of the Year, is aiming to guide Hawaiʻi to its ninth victory of the season. Both teams have shifted into bowl game preparations with full game-week practices underway.A major focus of the discussion centered on the head coaching matchup between Chang and Rolovich, whose relationship dates back 25 years to their arrival on UH's lower campus as quarterbacks competing for the starting role. Both eventually earned their opportunities and went on to leave lasting legacies in the program, adding a unique layer to the upcoming showdown. The quarterback storyline extends onto the field as well, with both teams led by left-handed quarterbacks from ʻEwa Beach. Hawaiʻi will be guided by Mountain West Freshman of the Year Micah Alejado, while Cal counters with freshman All-American Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele. While the quarterbacks share similar roots, DeMello and Veneri discussed how each presents different challenges within their respective offensive schemes.Roster movement in the modern college football landscape was also a key topic. Alejado recently announced he will return for the 2026 season after re-signing with the program, a significant development for the Rainbow Warriors amid the era of NIL and the transfer portal. However, Hawaiʻi will be without Alejado's top receiving target, Jackson Harris, who has departed the program with plans to enter the transfer portal.DeMello and Veneri weighed the importance of retaining Hawaiʻi's quarterback of the future while also addressing the impact of roster turnover as the Rainbow Warriors prepare for their bowl appearance.Hawaii Football Final airs every Sunday at 7 p.m. on the KHON+ app, available on Apple TV, Roku and Firestick, with a television rebroadcast Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. on KHON2. An extended version of the show is also released each Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. on major podcast platforms, including Spotify.

Welcome back to another hour of digital cynicism. We kick things off with a FOLLOW UP on Amazon's Fallout recaps, which were apparently so hallucination-heavy they made the actual wasteland look organized; naturally, they've been nuked along with the "Video Recaps" feature. In a massive dose of IN THE NEWS, Tesla is finally getting a legal side-eye in California for its deceptive "Autopilot" branding, while TikTok is performing a corporate shell game by selling a 45% stake to Oracle and friends to keep the feds happy. Reddit is fighting Australia's under-16 ban like it's a constitutional crisis, Louisiana's age-verification law just got benched by a judge, and Merriam-Webster officially crowned "slop" as the Word of the Year—which is fitting, given that OpenAI is selectively hiding chat logs from murder-suicides while their Chief Scientist warns that recursive AI self-improvement might end the human experiment by 2030. If the "intelligence explosion" doesn't get us, the CRASH Clock says we've got roughly 2.8 days before Elon's satellite swarm turns low-earth orbit into a permanent scrapyard. In our MEDIA CANDY segment, we mourn the transition year of Star Trek, which was mostly a series of unmitigated disasters and corporate retreats, though the Oscars moving to YouTube in 2029 means we can finally ignore them in 4K. Meta is testing a "pay-to-share-links" feature because they clearly haven't alienated creators enough, and a new study suggests Amazon's "dynamic pricing" is basically just a high-tech way to gouge public school districts for pencils. Moving to APPS & DOODADS, iOS 26.2 is here with a "Liquid Glass" slider—groundbreaking stuff, really—while Microsoft's Copilot+ push is effectively killing the laptop market by making 16GB of RAM a luxury item only a data center could love. Meanwhile, iRobot has officially sucked its last bit of dust into a Chapter 11 filing, proving that even a twenty-year head start can't save you from a 46 percent tariff and better Chinese competition.AT THE LIBRARY, we find out that librarians are ready to quit because people keep demanding books that only exist in a ChatGPT hallucination, proving once again that the "Information Age" was a lie. We descend into THE DARK SIDE WITH DAVE with the tireless Dave Bittner to discuss why modern movies feel like plastic, the bizarre paradox of James Cameron's Avatar dominance, and a bittersweet farewell to Rob Reiner. We wrap it up with the return of The Muppets, a look at plug-in solar panels for the budget-conscious prepper, and the Sedaris siblings proving that even grief can be a podcast topic. It's all the tech "progress" you never asked for, delivered with the appropriate amount of Gen-X side-eye.Show notes at https://gog.show/727Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/hHnGD4lIFzASponsors:MasterClass - Get up to 50% off at MASTERCLASS.com/GRUMPYOLDGEEKSPrivate Internet Access - Go to GOG.Show/vpn and sign up today.
