When I experienced my first dark night of the soul in 2008, it would have been so helpful to know that what I was experiencing was a rite of passage and a descent that would assist me in my ascent into greater awareness and consciousness. What I was experiencing was a transition that had me face and heal my inner wounded maiden so that I could cross over into the mother archetype and change my life for the better. When I stumbled upon Sarah's work, I felt so deeply seen and nourished. In addition to the fact that she helped me understand my journey at a deeper level, she is also a wealth of information, teachings, and stories about the goddess, the divine feminine, the heroine's journey. She also mentors women on their own paths. What I love the most about Sarah is her potent story-telling and her raw authenticity. I hope you love listening as much as I loved interviewing her. Listen in as we explore: * Heartbreak as a rite of passage. * Why do women keep choosing the same type of men again and again - especially abusive or narcissistic men? * If we were raised in a patriarchal house, did we ever truly experience what love is? * Why does it feel like a death when you are rejected or left behind? * What is “the wounded maiden,” and why is she so thirsty for love and validation from the outside world? * What does it mean for us that we live in a matricidal and misogynistic culture? * Why is nature so essential to the unbecoming process and untangling from the clutches of patriarchal conditioning? * Why learning to love and accept ourselves in our full self-expression and for our whole selves is the deepest and most authentic love we will ever know.
Untangled | stories about untangling from society's giant rule book
This week’s Untangled interview is with DoItGirl’s Sarah Durham Wilson. I’m going to urge you to put down whatever you are doing and give this podcast the energy and time it deserves. Sarah talks us through her transition from maiden to queen, from unhealthy masculine to healthy feminine, from fighter to lover, from ego to soul, from darkness into light. I ask Sarah: + How do we survive in a masculine orientated world when we're being called to lean into the dark mystery of the feminine? + How do we actually lean into the feminine? + What do we do when we're so deep in darkness we can't hear our own soul? If you're in the dark or transition or if the masculine in you is dying a slow death, this one is for you. Show notes: alanahelbig.com/untangled8
Put simply, today's interview is one of the most important conversations I've had personally in 2016, maybe my life. Sometimes I get notes from listeners saying they love the show even when they don't always agree with me. This one is a mind, heart and soul opener for sure. I can't wait to hear what lands or awakens for you in this episode. Lots of love, E. About Sarah Durham Wilson: Sarah Durham Wilson (a.k.a DoItGirl) is a modern priestess, writer, & women’s leader. Sarah Durnham Wilson used to be a rock journalist interviewing stars for top magazines like Rolling Stone and GQ, until her non-stop party girl lifestyle took its toll. Burnt out and broken-hearted, Sarah fell to her knees beside her bed and begged for change – or death. Hitting rock bottom sparked a monumental transformation that has seen Sarah emerge as a deeply wise divine feminine writer and artist. She writes under her pen name Doitgirl, and also runs powerful courses and retreats dedicated to healing the self to heal the world. If you've ever felt like you're too messy, too out of control, or too close to rock bottom, this deeply honest podcast is for you.
